@strangerontheinternet
Hey, they count if from first day of your last period. I’ve had my booking appointment and the midwife confirmed my dates were the same as I thought and that was first day of last period. Hope that helps xx

HorrorQueen · 20/01/2021 11:45

Hi All, Congratulations to all. I took a pregnancy test on Friday night that came back positive pretty much straight away, from what I've worked out I'm suppose to be due on or around 19th September. I'm nearly 31 and I'm a big girl, I've been suffering with nausea but haven't been actually sick yet. My boobs are so sore, my body feels like its aching on and off, I cannot get comfortable at night so I'm always waking up during the night, I've done nothing but go for a wee lol. Also every now and then especially when I'm lying down it feels like the left side of my belly button feels a bit bruised does anyone else feel this? I'm not sure if its your body preparing for changes or what, I'm sick of googling symptoms all the time, I'm making myself paranoid, this is my first pregnancy and I've wanted this for so long, I'm worrying myself sick. My first appointment isn't until 15th February which feels like a lifetime away, sorry for the long message lol. I hope to hear from everyone soon. Xx

CherylLW · 20/01/2021 12:17

Hey @HorrorQueen

Congratulations on your positive test!! I know the feeling you mean about your belly button! I’ve tried to explain it to google but there is no clear answer.... I just hope it’s usual and just another one of those weird tummy twinges.

I’m due September 5th, I’m currently 7+3, I’ve had my booking appointment and I’ve got my routine blood tests early feb and scan is already booked in!!

I had a missed miscarriage last October so I’m analysing everything but doing my best to just take things day by day.

Congratulations again :) xx

Emit30x · 20/01/2021 12:37

Yea I've tried explaining it to Google as well but can't find anything, I think my first appointment is with the midwife at my local doctors surgery as I had to ring the midwife self referral number to book an appointment and that was the date they had gave me. Congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope all goes well xx

Emit30x · 20/01/2021 12:38

its me horrorqueen I changed my name lol should of put that on last post lol

H3llie · 20/01/2021 12:39

Hi all! Congratulations to everyone. New here and due 4th Sept according to NHS calculator Smile feeling a bit anxious as I had a MC (first pregnancy) in June at 9 weeks and my experience with the midwife unit then wasn’t great...
Although I feel different this time so hoping for the best.
Have booking appointment for 3rd Feb and think I’ll book a private scan just for peace of mind.
Anyone else feeling constantly sick? All I want to eat is salt and vinegar crisps and toast!

hippinghen · 20/01/2021 13:11

Congrats!! How do you have a private scan and at what week?

H3llie · 20/01/2021 13:17

Thanks @hippinghen 👍
There is a private scan clinic (window to the womb) near to me and they do early scans, they’re £59 at my clinic. I had one in June which confirmed my MC as I had pain and bleeding and the EPU refused to see me due to COVID I imagine.
But the clinic were brilliant! You should be able to see heartbeat from 7-8weeks so it’s reassuring I think before you have the 12 week scan at midwife unit.

H3llie · 20/01/2021 13:18

They do earlier scans too, from 6 weeks I think

Taybz · 20/01/2021 14:37

@H3llie are you in London? My local Window to the Womb does the early scan for £79 - is it the viability scan you're going for?

Has anyone else found any other good clinics for private early scans? I really can't be patient enough for the 12th week scan!

Taybz · 20/01/2021 14:38

Ladies, just to add, I was told by the clinic that even thought they do scans from 6 weeks, the best time to have it is on the 7th or 8th week so you can have a higher chance of hearing/seeing the 💓

H3llie · 20/01/2021 14:39

@Taybz the Wolverhampton one is nearest to me. They do a viability scan from 6-10 weeks (I’m booking this one) and a dating scan from 8 weeks which looks pretty similar, they’re listed on the website as £79 but when I go to the booking form they’re £59.

H3llie · 20/01/2021 14:40

Yes, I heard that too re heartbeat 💗

Bubbles1st · 20/01/2021 15:04

I am keen for an early scan however, my local one is 45 mins away which seems a trek.

Reading it also indicates it is usually and internal scan and not via the belly, is that right? I am already overweight so I doubt there will be much to see unless internal and I don't really fancy that to be honest unless it's necessary during the nhs scans.

Also I gets it's exciting and reassuring which is why I want to go, but it doesn't eliminate the possibility of mc prior to 12 weeks.

Or is it that you may find out you have already mc or a problem rather than another 4 weeks of anticipation?

I don't want to seem negative I just want to understand all the pros before I spent money and travel.

Madeoftea · 20/01/2021 15:06

Hey everyone! So I had my scan at the epu today and they're treating it as a pregnancy of unknown location even though they're mostly confident that everything will be fine. There's a dot in my uterus that they think is the start of the sack but because they can't confirm where it's so early I have to go back in a couple weeks. But they took my bloods today and I'll go back on Friday for the second lot and they'll tell me there and then if the HCG is increasing as it should be. They think my sharp pain on the left side might be from my left ovary which is the one I ovulated from.
I'm mostly reassured and they were really lovely and said they prefer to be overly cautious so🤞 for Friday.

CherylLW · 20/01/2021 15:18

@Madeoftea

I’m so pleased it went well and they have done some bloods and reassured you to an extent :)

Xx

Cathie102 · 20/01/2021 15:20

@Madeoftea

So happy that it went well for you!

How do you know which ovary you ovulated from? Do they tell you? I'm always concerned I don't know much about my body at all!

Taybz · 20/01/2021 15:49

@Madeoftea glad it well went for you and you feel more reassured. It's good that they'll continue to keep an eye on you as well.

@Bubbles1st I was informed that all early scans are done transvaginal because it's much easier to see what's going on inside versus with the ultrasound. Apparently the latter does not pick up much so early on.
Whether it's worth it depends entirely on you. For me, I'm extremely excited but also feel anxious so it'll give me some peace of mind, although I know that something can still happen upto the 12 week mark God forbid. Also, it still feels very unreal to me despite taking loads of tests so maybe it'll convince me 😆

Madeoftea · 20/01/2021 15:49

@CherylLW thank you x

@Cathie102 haha I would have no idea either! She was able to tell during the scan though, they explained it like it's almost a cyst that stays there where the egg was released and it carries on producing progesterone at the start of pregnancy.

Bubbles1st · 20/01/2021 16:05

@Taybz you're right there, at least it will convince me there really is a baby in my belly BearSmile as it feels very surreal!!

MrsMcNtobe · 20/01/2021 16:34

@Taybz I have my early scan booked for next Wednesday, apparently the place I am going will give you the choice whether you want to try transabdominal or Transvaginal, I’ll be 6+5 and worried I’ve booked it a bit early but I’m going to ask what they recommend and just go with that... I contemplated moving it back a week or 2 but I really just need some sort of reassurance

Chica1990 · 20/01/2021 16:50

@Madeoftea they told me which ovary I ovulated from too with my ectopic. I think the cyst is corpus lutheum or something like that from memory.

Hopefully the bloods give you some indication of what’s going on 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Chica1990 · 20/01/2021 16:52

@MrsMcNtobe I’m going for an nhs one dead of 6 weeks as they want me to come in before the end of the 6th week to make sure everything is in the right place. I can’t go the following week as it will look suspicious at work due to a busy time in my department with people being off already. I’ll let you know how much they can see with me? In a way I want to get it over and done with but would prefer if they were up for seeing me later on.

MrsMcNtobe · 20/01/2021 16:54

@Chica1990 that would be amazing if you could, apparently they can see a lot transvaginally but fingers crossed everything is ok when you go

mrandmrslobster · 20/01/2021 16:55

I took a test today saying I'm 2-3 weeks pregnant. Thing is I stopped taking the pill in November and didn't properly have a period so I lost track of any cycle. I was aware this could happen after years on the pill that it takes the body a while to settle back into a rhythm.

Factor in a death in the family and my head is topsy turvey right now! So I don't really know about dates.

I'm phoning the doctor's surgery tomorrow. Will the help with this?

Can you tell this is my first? Grin
