My lo sleeps lots to he has bouts where his awake for maybe a hour or so then sleeps for like 3/4 wakes for bottle then back off to sleep generally that's day time night time can be all different like last night went to sleep at like 10.30 and woke at 3.20 am drank 4 ounces straight down nappy change straight back to sleep then woke at 7 22 am another 4 ounce nappy change back to sleep then woke at 10.30 bottle explosive pooey nappy currently awake watching shrek with my daughter will probably dose off soon for a few hours I dont know what tonight will be like hoping it's the same

EithneBlue · 27/01/2021 15:28

I use Huckleberry - it's really useful and two people can log in to use it (so, for example, your partner can start sleep tracking and you can stop it if you're swapping "shifts") and you can set reminders to check the nappy/give medication if that's helpful to you :-)

My baby will fall asleep on me or whilst held but then usually not stir when he's put down after a couple of minutes and always sleeps in his cot. I only ever start sleep tracking once he's successfully lying down in the cot or basket (or in the buggy walking). I think proper "self-soothing" isn't something babies this young can really do but I've definitely had times when he's just fallen asleep on his playmat or in his cot (especially if I have my hands on his feet). I think I've got a very laid back baby, though.

Our little girl is also - 10 weeks today (didn't realise there were so many of us on the same day!).
Nights are great - she'll sleep through from last bottle for 6-8 hours. Last bottle tends to be between 10pm and midnight. Days are more of a struggle to get her to sleep as she's just so active and interested in everything!
She'll nap on me after 1st feed, for maybe up to an hour but god forbid I try to put her in the crib! Often stays awake after second feed until lunch feed. Then a short nap before we go for a walk and she'll normally nap then too. Late afternoons and evenings we really don't get much sleep - witching hours! - and she gets overtired. Overall she's getting 12-15 hours a day but most is at night.
Have just started using Huckleberry app so we'll see if we can crack the evening naps with this 'SweetSpot' predictor....

My son has his 8 week jabs in a few hours, not looking forward to it.
I have signed up for an online baby massage course, so if he's feeling ok later we shall give that a go.

Following on from all the sleep talk, Tommy falls asleep easily in his bouncer during the day, as long as he's being bounced! If you stop he wakes within minutes, occasionally he surprises me & stays asleep. He is getting so much better at night too, he is now in his own crib every night rather then co sleeping. I have to lay next to him holding his hand until he's asleep when he 1st goes to bed, but after night feeds he just goes straight down with no fuss.

Does anyone else’s baby do nasty violent poos as soon as they’ve finished a feed?

viixie · 28/01/2021 22:29

@peachypetite not really but my little one seems to be pooing all the time. There's rarely a nappy with just wee, not sure if this is normal. She's breastfed her reflux is horrendous. She's been so uncomfortable today

lc86 · 29/01/2021 08:55

@peachypetite most times it's like him sucking on his bottle helps his stomach release the poo 🤦🏼‍♀️

Kj1010 · 29/01/2021 09:49

@peachypetite my lo almost poops every feed this morning my oh changed his nappy which stank n was very orange and as he finished n was about to put nappy on he pooped all over oh lol

kkr168 · 29/01/2021 10:18

My son poos every other day on his new hypoallergenic milk, apparently that's normal.
He's been on his new milk for 8 days now, he has no more reflux, eczema, diarrhea/constipation (he never had 'normal' poos) no more endless crying (always sounded in pain), he's gaining weight again.
The pictures show his face at its worst, by this point his ears were split, weeping & bleeding, the 2nd picture was taken after 2 days of being on the new formula, the 3rd picture was taken last night, his skin is perfect again, the change really is amazing.

The pictures appear to have jumbled up....
Red/blue stripes is at his worst
Green dungarees is 2 days later
Blue blanket is last night

lc86 · 29/01/2021 12:58

@kkr168 oh my god, that's heartbreaking!! I am so pleased that they found the cause and he is back to normal.. bless him xx

peachypetite · 29/01/2021 13:08

@kkr168 you must be so relieved

Kj1010 · 29/01/2021 14:15

So contacted my doctors today after a hour waiting on phone and my babys nhs number not recognised I get told it will be a phone appointment because of covid I replied how is the doctor ment to check him over I told them he hasn't been seen since he as 11 days old no weight check etc also told them I had a csection and havent been checked either which they said if I voice my concerns they may let the nurse weigh him even though health visitor meant to do all this I told them havent heard off hv since he was like 2 weeks old I said how do you know I havent got pnd or any other health issues and that my baby could be neglected badly but use wudnt know as you havent seen him and dont seem to be that bothered like ur surgery is shut as use ain't seeing anyone but ur that busy it took a hour to answer phone so I have now messaged hv to see where I can book an appointment to have him weighed and will have my phone consult air my concerns of how lack the care has been from the beginning to now then I think I will be finding a new doctors as these arent great even before covid I'm so mad though that if I push they may let me take him for nurse to weigh him

Jellycat2020 · 29/01/2021 14:39

@kkr168 wow, the difference is amazing!! 😮 Bet you're so chuffed.

@Kj1010 that is awful service, I'd definitely be looking for a new surgery.

Kj1010 · 29/01/2021 14:42

@Jellycat2020 I will be I've also ordered baby scales to now weigh my baby myself

kkr168 · 29/01/2021 17:12

I am very relieved, his cry is completely different now, I honestly think he was in so much pain before!

Pinktruffle · 30/01/2021 05:56

@EithneBlue thanks for the tip on the Huckleberry app, I've been using it for the last 2 days and it's great. Would have come in so useful when my little one was newborn!

@kkr168 poor little thing! I'm glad it's all cleared up now. I've had eczema most my life and my face has always been one of my affected areas, people really don't realise how painful it can be!

YukoandHiro · 30/01/2021 06:25

I came to say CMPA @kkr168 - I'm glad you've found the right milk. Make sure you get your dietician appointment before weaning, as it can be slightly more tricky with allergies (my first is 3 years old and still has CMPA and egg allergy)

peachypetite · 30/01/2021 09:39

Baby seems to have grown out of her colic snd is sleeping so well at night now. To those of you who said it would pass you were right. It’s just so hard at the time when you’re sooooo tired!

Charl88 · 30/01/2021 17:56

Its so nice to hear everyone is starting to settle with their babies now.
@Kj1010 that's awful I would definately look at moving. Although we haven't seen anyone some day 10 and only had 1 phone call with HV (baby is 6 weeks old now) I have been told that 8 week check will be face to face after his immunisations. Hv is coming to the house next week as they have neen told they need to see new mums. I agree that they have no idea whether women have PND or if babies are ok. Its shocking. Its as if nothing but covid is happening in the world and no other illness exists!!!

Kj1010 · 30/01/2021 18:06

@Charl88 exactly well i will be giving my doctor a good talking to and I'm researching doctors at moment trying to find a half decent one I've ordered scales to weigh my lo they coming monday hv hasn't replied to my messages very disappointing the way I feel when I do eventually get to talk to them all want to tell them to shove it where the sun dont shine tbh as my care from pregnancy to now is appalling and I dont think they can really blame it all on covid at all

NaomiB79 · 30/01/2021 21:22

@peachypetite I'm so glad the colic is gone it really is the hardest thing to deal with! Here's to better days ahead...and a lot more sleep! Enjoy! Xx

Kj1010 · 31/01/2021 11:37

Morning all gotta say my lo now nearly 8weeks and seems to have come into himself he is a lot more happier smiley etc and also now sleeping for 5 hours at a time at night goes down around 12 which is lovely as we all are getting better sleep he still sleeps a lot in day to my scales come tomorrow so looking forward to see what he weighs as neither my doctors or health visitor seems to give a toss if my lo was to have his injections I'd be in surgery tomoz but because he ain't it's a telephone call poor in my opinion oh well hope you are all having a lovely sunday morning

EithneBlue · 31/01/2021 13:20

@peachypetite - Yay! :-) That's great news!

@kj1010 - will they not then weigh when he is booked in for his injections? Seems weird that they wouldn't just book for a combined appointment.

Kj1010 · 31/01/2021 13:50

@EithneBlue my lo isnt having his injections
