Another one for colic /reflux! We've been on Infacol which seemed to work at first, then didn't so switched to Dentinox which works but she hates so gets so wound up she's impossible to settle anyway! Haven't tried Colief yet but would struggle with waiting 30min after adding it to the milk as we don't make up feeds in advance other than for overnight.
She's also so hit and miss with settling - some nights she has a proper 'witching hour' (or 3!) and just screams and screams, then other evenings she's fed and asleep within 40 mins!

peachypetite · 31/12/2020 02:53

Thank you. My little one definitely has colic. It’s been awful the last few days but like @Jellycat2020 other times she settles fine. It’s very frustrating. We are using the little remedies gripe water. Need to book in her six week jabs but when I called she still wasn’t registered on the system so have to call back in a few days. I’m soooo tired. How is everyone doing?

Hi, I haven't posted on this particular thread but did on a previous Nov one. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the holidays!

My LO is 8 weeks old (3rd Nov), mix fed but more formula now. He has suffered from mild reflux from day one which seems to have settled since the last few days (touchwood!).

He still has 'vomity' days and is generally quite congested and grunty which I was told by the Paediatrician are a sign of reflux. But he bo longer seems in pain nor does he cry and fuss whilst drinking. So thankfully most babies with mild reflux do outgrow it!

He vomited quite severely the other week where he couldn't breathe, cough or cry and was rushed to Urgent Care in an ambulance. It honestly scared the life out of us and now too scared to leave him alone for a second. I was told it's rare but with reflux it can happen. Gripe water seemed to trigger it for some reason. The key is to burp baby properly no matter how long it takes and to try and keep them upright for atleast 30 minutes after a feed. It can be hard I know especially if they are slow drinkers like my DS!

NaomiB79 · 31/12/2020 07:02

@Jellycat2020 my wee one has bad colic too...it's the devil....so difficult as you just don't know how they will be day to day. Like you we've tried Infacol, Dentinox, Colief and gripe water but nothing really helped her (we are back on infacol under advice from the doctor but not sure it's doing much). We've tried every other home remedy there is to try and ease her symptoms. I think in most cases it passes around 12 weeks as their digestive system matures (I know that feels like ages away just now) but hang in there and hopefully you find something that works in the meantime xx

peachypetite · 31/12/2020 07:17

@NaomiB79 it’s so hard isn’t it. Just awful. I think I’ve had four hours sleep last night. Thank god dor xoffee.

I’ve downloaded the wonder weeks app which is really interesting. She is currently going through a leap.

kkr168 · 31/12/2020 08:46

So baby Tommy would not settle between 4 to 6am, he was non stop crying which is very unlike him, I then gave him gripe water (for the 1st time) he coughed for a few seconds then fell straight to sleep. I'd put off using it until then because he'd already had dentinox in his bottle, so wasn't sure if he was allowed the gripe water too but my god it seemed like a miracle cure!!

kkr168 · 31/12/2020 08:50

@peachypetite just looked up that app, it's £4.99, is it money well spent?
I might have to invest

peachypetite · 31/12/2020 09:50

@kkr168 I think it is. Two different friends recommended it as well, it’s already been insightful about what to expect and tips for managing the leaps, as well as a diary to log signs and sleep etc.

MrsSmith2020 · 31/12/2020 13:02

Afternoon everyone!

I'm checking back in with my three week old baby girl- honestly thank God for this thread. @danielasummer 💗

Someone posted about mastitis / antibiotics and whether the baby is sleepy; I started my antibiotics yesterday and haven't noticed much of a difference yet. @Snowwhite2020

I think we have mild colic symptoms here but we are managing them okay, thank God for my husband he has been an absolute lifesaver during these three weeks.

The sleep deprivation is hard but I think we're getting used to it.

peachypetite · 31/12/2020 13:04

Managed to have sex for the first time since birth. I was nervous but it was okay! We have tried a couple of other times this week but baby has always woken up half way through ha.

Pinktruffle · 31/12/2020 20:19

Our boiler has just stopped working Confused just what you need with a newborn in the snow.

My son has been the undoubted highlight of this year but on the whole 2020 can just do one now, I'm so fed up.

NaomiB79 · 31/12/2020 23:35

@Pinktruffle me too, my DP got taken to hospital last night in an ambulance as he was in a crazy amount of pain and vomiting....long story short he's getting his gallbladder removed tomorrow! Just what I need with a 9 week old to look after and no help from family because of lockdown! 2020 the gift that keeps on giving!

Pinktruffle · 01/01/2021 01:31

Oh no @NaomiB79 that sounds quite scary! I hope he is home and on the mens soon. I also you are managing on your own with the baby as it can be tough. Thinking of you x

kkr168 · 01/01/2021 08:42

@NaomiB79 As far as I'm aware you are allowed to form a support bubble if you have a child under 1, so if you need help from a family member it's allowed.

kkr168 · 01/01/2021 08:45

From the government website......
Who can make a support bubble
Not everybody can form a support bubble. However, on 2 December the rules changed to widen eligibility for forming one.

You can form a support bubble with another household of any size if:

you live by yourself – even if carers visit you to provide support
you are the only adult in your household who does not need continuous care as a result of a disability
your household includes a child who is under the age of one or was under that age on 2 December 2020
your household includes a child with a disability who requires continuous care and is under the age of 5, or was under that age on 2 December 2020
you are aged 16 or 17 living with others of the same age and without any adults
you are a single adult living with one or more children who are under the age of 18 or were under that age on 12 June 2020
You should not form a support bubble with a household that is part of another support bubble.

Snowwhite2020 · 01/01/2021 11:04

Oh no @NaomiB79 that is the last thing you need!

I agree with @kkr168 xx

NaomiB79 · 01/01/2021 11:27

@kkr168 thanks that's helpful. My MIL is going to come and stay today for a couple of nights to help out which will be a godsend xx

Charl88 · 01/01/2021 12:52

Anyone with new babies have any tips with nappy rash? Baby boy literally wees and poos constantly and he has a red bum this morning that looks sore. I feel so guilty about it had a little cry. But I change him every time he wakes already. Any creams or magic potions anyone can recommend? X

Kj1010 · 01/01/2021 13:14

@charl88 titaniaum cream is brilliant a proper barrier cream can get from Wilkinson's etc it's a proper thick yellow cream xx

peachypetite · 01/01/2021 13:16

@Charl88 I put some sudocrem on mine after alevery change so it acts as a barrier. A couple of weeks ago she had one part of her bum that was a bit red and raw but it cleared up really fast with bepanthan

Kj1010 · 01/01/2021 13:18

Hope all had a lovely evening yesterday we had a relatively good one didn't go to bed till 2am lol but lo has now resettled with the hungrier food etc and sleeping way much better now and for longer I think he will be taking 5 ounces by end of the week we have weighed ourselves on our scales me my oh and eldest son and all three of us gained a extra 10lbs on our weight when holding baby so that's what we are going with until I can get him weighed on baby scales but a good weight gain I think you can see the legs filling out lol

Snowwhite2020 · 01/01/2021 19:29

Anyone else using infacol for sore tummies/ wind? Any reviews? We’re finding it might be making her a bit constipated/ dehydrated but not 100% sure it’s related to infacol

Snowwhite2020 · 01/01/2021 19:30

@Charl88 like peachy said, sudocrem every change as a barrier works for us perfectly.

Pinktruffle · 01/01/2021 22:05

I've been using Bepantham after every change @charl88, I preferred it to Sudocream.

@Snowwhite2020 I use infocol before every feed, I dont think my little one has colic neccaserialy but he settles much better after a feed when he has had it.
