Ladies just wondering how you split the nights at weekends when your husbands/partners are off work the next day? In the week my husband has her downstairs until around 1.30-2am and I go to bed about 9 so I can get some decent sleep in. But wondering if there’s a better way at the weekend.

Kj1010 · 15/01/2021 21:17

@peachypetite we just share at weekends like who ever wakes up to him but we both tend to wake lol like now I'm in livingroom oh gone to bed but took bubs with him but baby isnt due a bottle till like 12/1ish now if u go on the 4 hour mark but most likely he will have one before and if I'm up n awake I'll see to him how do use do it

NaomiB79 · 15/01/2021 21:41

@peachypetite before our lo was sleeping longer stints we took it in 3 or 4 hour shifts at the weekend. We'd both sit up til 9/10pm with her downstairs and I'd go to bed for 3/4 hours then swap so my partner would have her from 1-4ish then I'd have her again. Suppose it depends what works for you. It's difficult because I mainly breastfeed although she does get some bottles and she usually nurses to sleep so tends to settle best with me but there were a fair few nights when her colic was bad that I just went in to oh and said you'll need to take her for a few hours as I was exhausted so he did.

lc86 · 15/01/2021 22:14

@NaomiB79 how long does your lo sleep now? X

NaomiB79 · 15/01/2021 22:27

@lc86 she's been sleeping for 6-9 hour stints most nights for the last two weeks. She'll go down between 8pm and 9pm and get up at 3-4am most mornings have a feed then go back down for a few hours til 7am. It's amazing I don't feel knackered all the time anymore x

lc86 · 15/01/2021 22:36

@NaomiB79 that's amazing!! How old is she now? xx

NaomiB79 · 15/01/2021 22:37

@lc86 she'll be 11 weeks on Sunday x

peachypetite · 16/01/2021 09:08

@NaomiB79 is that breast milk or formula? I have heard formula helps them to longer at night because not as fast to digest. Baby is 8 weeks old and stil wakes every three hours.

NaomiB79 · 16/01/2021 09:20

@peachypetite I combi feed so she gets both, usually a bottle last thing at night but if she is up through the night she is breastfed then. I think it has a lot to do with her colic settling down too but yes I agree generally bf babies don't sleep as well as formula fed. I've heard a couple of theories about why that might be one being that they can smell the milk from their mother and also that generally they are fed on demand and not on a schedule so are used to feeding more often and expect to be able to do that through the night as well as day.

At three months they start to produce melatonin which puts their sleep into more regular cycles and hopefully gives longer stints too x

peachypetite · 16/01/2021 09:39

@NaomiB79 I’m combi too, now she’s had her tongue tie fixed I can breastfeed but she will still have some formula too - it is great not being the only one who can feed her. Might try giving her formula at night to see if she would go longer. Also I am scared to say this in case I jinx myself but since starting the infacol she hasn’t had colic and has been burping a lot more and getting that wind up.

Trufflepuffpuff · 16/01/2021 09:45

@NaomiB79 we're all going to jump on you now! Do you have a routine then for putting her to bed or do you just wait til she's sleepy?

peachypetite · 16/01/2021 10:14

@Trufflepuffpuff things any better for you? X

lc86 · 16/01/2021 10:15

@NaomiB79 ah that's fab, there is a light then lol. Thank you xx

Jwl45 · 16/01/2021 10:18

@naomib79 that's fab. I have to say ours has been going to sleep 10ish... I've then waited up .. thinking she will want another feed... But no.... Last night, she had a bottle at 9 then slept through until 3-45. Fed and back until 7. Although I will say, although she's asleep from around 4 til 7... She is very grunty lol and wiggles a lot . So I don't get back then
After 7 she happy to go back to sleep until we come down. We've only been down half an hour today 😊 we are watching Peppa pig 🐷🤣

NaomiB79 · 16/01/2021 10:59

@Trufflepuffpuff we have a wee bit of a routine like change her into sleep suit in her room where it's quite dark and give her her last feed up there trying to be really consistent with time and how the room is etc (no big lights on, white noise on etc). Most people would have a bath as part of bed time routine but we don't do that as she hates the bath and gets really upset so is too worked up to try and get down quickly!

@Jwl45 that's amazing sounds like yours has got to the point where they are going longer stints too xx

Jwl45 · 16/01/2021 13:31

@NaomiB79 Yes.... Definitely. We change and feed downstairs and just take her up when we go. 10 weeks on Monday so not far off you. I also combi feed. Xx

Babyhope98 · 16/01/2021 14:21

Does anyone else’s baby have hiccups quite a few times a day?

Nic2908 · 16/01/2021 17:23

Can I ask a question to the girls who have had sections.... how long after did you have a bath? I'm 4 weeks post tomorrow would love a deep hot bath but because i had an ongoing infection I havnt just had showers so I'm just wondering really how long others left it.

@Babyhope98 my baby is 4 weeks old and has hiccups after every feed.

lc86 · 16/01/2021 17:46

@Babyhope98 my lo does all the time, little remedies gripe water shifts them straight away xx

lc86 · 16/01/2021 17:46

@Nic2908 6 weeks post section here and desperate for a nice bath but still bleeding 😩

Babyhope98 · 16/01/2021 18:04

Great thanks ladies my girl hates them and they happen so frequently some days! Just gave her some little remedies and they went forgot I had it! I didn’t have a c sec but had an episiotomy with a tear with got infected I used lavender oil with water and sometimes tea tree in a bath which actually helped with the healing. I would wash body and hair in a shower after @Nic2908

Babyhope98 · 16/01/2021 19:30

Another question haha. Anyone’s baby now becoming obsessed with eating their hand she’s nearly 7 weeks but loves shoving her hand in mouth hungry or not lol

Kj1010 · 16/01/2021 19:54

@Nic2908 I had a bath 3 weeks after c section as wasnt bleeding but have a little hot bath brought on the bleeding but only light bleeding been bathing every other day and showers I was desperate for the bath as my muscles where aching so went for it

Kj1010 · 16/01/2021 19:55

@nic2908 btw my lo is 5 weeks 5 days

lc86 · 16/01/2021 20:03
