Sorry for the late reply @peachypetite - my LO actually slept lost night. A nightmare today though, he hasn't slept most the day and wont go down now either.
Anyway, the HV weighted him, measured his length and his head circumstance then gave us a number to call to get gin weighed every 6 weeks if we wish (a baby clinic) and said she wouldn't be seeing us again. Nice enough but pretty ineffectual.

alphabetti · 17/01/2021 04:16

My girl is 6wks 3days and gets hiccups a lot and sucks her hands.

Have some nights where she feeds and is happy to go straight down in Moses basket for couple hours but some nights she just eyes wide open and wants to be held. She’s breastfed on demand but often at night my partner gives x1 formula so I can get some proper sleep. Tonight he gave her formula at 11pm and says she had 3oz had settled until 3am when I r taken over.

My health visitor seems really nice. She’s been at 2wks, 3wks 5wks and is due again Thu (7wks). Baby born 7lb3oz and at 5wks weighed 9lb1oz and this week moved her into 0-3mth clothes but they very big on her!!

Trufflepuffpuff · 17/01/2021 08:23

Hi @peachypetite slightly better here, although I think DD got a bit overtired yesterday. She's generally quite a restless baby and she'll have short moments of playing and being happy then the crying starts. She's very fidgety and won't really settle on us unless she's in the sling so it's hard work! Not sure if that's normal? Her sleep has been ok (for her!) the last few days, a few four hour chunks (although not convinced she's asleep for all of it!). How are you doing?

@Babyhope98 yep! My nine week old started doing this a few weeks ago!

Trufflepuffpuff · 17/01/2021 09:58

Does anyone else have a baby who's just fussy all day long? I've realised we've had about five days in the last four weeks where our DD has been generally content, the rest of the time she's grumpy and either crying or on the verge of crying. She has moments each day where she'll play and smile but they're few and far between, and she's constantly fidgety. Any ideas? Will she grow out of this?! Or is it just normal?

Bigredriding · 17/01/2021 09:58

Thanks for the replies the other day about frequent feeding at six weeks. I read them and found them useful but have only just had a minute to reply. Juggling a toddler and newborn is proving to be a bit mental.

He had a four hour stint last night so I’m hoping that isn’t a fluke. He also seems to sleep so much in the day, but I think that’s just because I’ve forgotten how much little babies sleep. We still have the odd hour of colic crying but it’s definitely lessening.

Bigredriding · 17/01/2021 10:02

@Trufflepuffpuff yes our little boy is exactly like this. It’s getting better but generally he’s fussing if he’s awake and needs regular movement to hold crying off. He won’t even be content awake in the sling so it’s really tricky to get anything done when he’s awake. I’d say each day it’s getting a bit better so hopefully it will pass? I feel bad because we’re missing out on interacting with him because he’s so miserable most of the time!

MySafeSpace · 17/01/2021 10:32

@Trufflepuffpuff yes our boy is like this, if he's not asleep he's feeding or crying, we don't have any moments of him being content at all. He'll only sleep on me during the day, if I dare move him he screams and we have to start all over again by soothing him and getting him asleep. I'm praying it gets easier and he settles so we can enjoy him more coz at the moment it's hideous

Trufflepuffpuff · 17/01/2021 10:45

Oh @Bigredriding and @MySafeSpace I'm glad it's not just me! But sorry you're dealing with this too, it is so hard. I can hardly ever get anything done and although we have had some smiles they don't seem to be very frequent these days which makes me think she's miserable about something? She sleeps a lot too, although mostly on me in the sling or in the pram. I hope it gets better soon! How old are yours? Mine is nine weeks and has been this way for the last 3-4 weeks.

lc86 · 17/01/2021 10:48

@Trufflepuffpuff my lo is only happy when sleeping or eating.. if awake he needs constant attention otherwise he is fussy!! When he naps I quickly have to get everything done before he wakes up, seems to just have cat naps in the day of 20-30 mins unless asleep on me 😩

Jwl45 · 17/01/2021 18:19

Has anyone bought a high chair from birth? At the minute, she comes to sit in the bouncer with us at meal times around the table. It would be nice to have her the same height as us. She's alert and loves nosing. It would also help when I'm pottering in the kitchen

MySafeSpace · 17/01/2021 18:42

@Trufflepuffpuff our lil boy is 7 weeks and he's been this hideous gif just over a week now. I know he's hit a leap but omg it's ridiculous. I don't get anything done when I'm on my own, I can barely get dressed or eat. The only thing I do is take him out on a walk in the afternoon to try and knackered him out and to keep him quiet as he'll sleep in the buggy

Babyhope98 · 17/01/2021 19:15

Does your babies have bubbly saliva around there mouth a lot

NaomiB79 · 17/01/2021 19:34

@Babyhope98 my baby girl has had this for the past week or so. Apparently their gums harden up before they start teething so it's most probably that, well that's what my neighbour who is a HV told me today. I thought she was teething already and was thinking surely she is too young got that!

peachypetite · 17/01/2021 19:40

6 and 7 weeks were horrendous for me. She’s 8 now and colic isn’t as bad. Hard to know whether the infacol is working or if it’s a coincidence. Her jabs are this coming week, I have been told to bring calpol to give her directly after but hoping she isn’t going to be a nightmare after poor thing.

Trufflepuffpuff · 17/01/2021 21:38

Yep @MySafeSpace that sounds very familiar! I used to be able to put her down while I had a shower but then it became impossible. It does vary day to day here but she has been very clingy.

And @Babyhope98 yes my DD has that too - I've heard either early teething or reflux? But sounds like it may just be a normal thing?!

Jwl45 · 17/01/2021 21:46

@lc86 ah yes. I've seen this one .. and also www.cosatto.com/products/noodle-0-highchair-heidi
(But cheaper on Amazon!)
It will last a few years so I'm tempted

lc86 · 17/01/2021 21:54

@Jwl45 ah that ones cute!! And nice that it has a newborn head rest x

Jwl45 · 17/01/2021 22:56

@lc86 well I think now I'm going for this ...

Jwl45 · 17/01/2021 22:57

@lc86 a little dearer but lovely x

Pinktruffle · 18/01/2021 01:20

@Jwl45 we've just bought a Stokke Tripp Trapp so we can have baby at the table. Very expensive but im hoping we will get a good few years of use out of it at the very least. It matches our dining table chairs so will fit nicely plus they hold resale value pretty well.

@peachypetite - mine has jabs too this week, on Tuesday. Im dreading it, I'm worried about the after effects and he is in a decent sleep pattern on the whole at the moment, I don't want that to go out if the window. Not to mention how hard seeing him in pain is, I hated the heel prick test, poor thing had to have it done on 3 different occasions as they couldn't get enough blood.

Can I ask how often you are all bathing your little ones? Mine lives a bath but I am worried about damaging his natural skin layers by over bathing. I know that bathing too much at this age is linked to eczema which I have so genetics are already against my little one without adding me aggravating factors. I'm topping and tailing everyday but would like to increase full bath frequency. What are you all doing?

Trufflepuffpuff · 18/01/2021 03:46

We've got a Tripp trapp too @Pinktruffle and I love it. But they are ridiculously overpriced.

We do baths every other day. How often are you thinking? I used to do everyday but don't think it's necessary or beneficial. I suppose once you're in a routine it could be useful though.

Babyhope98 · 18/01/2021 04:27

I bath every 2 to 3 days. I know it seems to be something to do every night for routine purposes but I just thought it can’t be good for her skin. I plan to do a massage every night instead, I’m not into a routine yet though 😂 @Pinktruffle

Pinktruffle · 18/01/2021 04:27

@Trufflepuffpuff I agree, it was a difficult decision as to whether to get one or not, their longevity and the fact even adults can sit in them was the only thing that could make it feel justified for me, even then I wasn't sure -DH made the decision for me in the end!

I was thinking of going to every other day from twice a week. I think everyday is too much given my concerns about skin issues, I'll start that once I start weaning I think.

My LO is so unsettled tonight, I've been up with him since 2.30 and he just won't settle. He keeps bringing up milk and I worry about him choking on it in his crib, is that actually possible at this age? I know their tubes are wired differently to ours hence the ability to drink whilst lying down etc.

Are you up feeding @Trufflepuffpuff or is your LO being difficult too?

Pinktruffle · 18/01/2021 04:30

@Babyhope98 I had wanted to massage every night too but don't manage it yet, I probably get round to it a couple of times a week. He has craddle cap at the minute so he gets a head massage everyday twice a day though!

I don't even think routines are possible at this age! They change so much that once you establish one, they would completely turn it upside down days later! At least that's what I'm telling myself.....
