@Jwl45 was it 1 in section in each leg just curious to know also just putting out there vaccinations arent to stop disease it's for the body to recognise it

Kj1010 · 13/01/2021 17:48

Injection even lol

kkr168 · 13/01/2021 17:51

My lo has just had a bath with no crying for the 1st time, I'm so happy, it's only taken 6 weeks for him to enjoy it.

@Jwl45 when I was using gripe water I put a bottle teat in my baby's mouth, once he started sucking I'd squirt the syringe of medicine into the teat, he'd take it easily then. Should work the same with Calpol x

NaomiB79 · 13/01/2021 19:06

@Kj1010 it's one injection in each leg and an oral vaccine for rotavirus which is similar to a syringe of Calpol.

Kj1010 · 13/01/2021 19:34

@NaomiB79 thankyou

Asianchick6693 · 13/01/2021 21:49

@EithneBlue I wanted to ask the opposite. My health visitor said my little girl should go to pooing every 2-3 days but she's nearly gone 5 days without a poo. I rang her today to ask if this is normal but she hasn't gotten back to me. She has been passing a lot of wind and she seems to be straining some parts of the day so I'm worried she might be constipated. Anyone have any advice?

Jwl45 · 13/01/2021 22:02

@Kj1010 yes. Was one jab in each leg and then the drops.
Back then in a month for the next lot.
@kkr168 w thank you. that's a good idea. She took the second dose better ...one dose left! Although I think she'll be asleep by then 🤦🏼‍♀️

lc86 · 13/01/2021 23:20

@Asianchick6693 my lo was constipated due to gaviscon, dr prescribed lactulose xx

lc86 · 14/01/2021 00:36

Struggling tonight. Lo has screamed constantly for hours with colic, ready to lose my mind!

Bigredriding · 14/01/2021 08:28

Hope you managed some sleep in the end @Ic86, that sounds like a very tough start.

Just wondering if anyone else has found their baby fed more frequently before spacing out? He was sometimes having 4-5 hour stretches at the start of the night but for the last week he has been religiously feeding 2 hourly day and night. Could set an alarm by it! He’s 6 weeks now. Just wondering if anyone experienced similar, just feels like we’re going backwards a bit. I’d think it was a growth spurt but didn’t think that would last a week?

kkr168 · 14/01/2021 08:59

@Bigredriding is he finishing the bottle each time? He may need an extra Oz of milk. My son feeds every 3 hours, occasionally I get a 4 or 5 hour stretch, but a few nights ago he woke every other hour through the night, no idea why! He hasn't done it since.

My lo is really struggling with constipation now, hopefully the Dr prescribes something today, other then this side effect his new milk has made all the difference. We've gone from a baby that screams at every feeding time to a happy giggly little boy.

Trufflepuffpuff · 14/01/2021 09:02

Have anyone's babies taken a while to get back to normal after the 8-week jabs? It's been a week now and she's been so down and not feeding that well. I wonder if it's related.

NaomiB79 · 14/01/2021 10:23

@Bigredriding they have a growth spurt at 6 weeks so it's probably that. They tend to want to feed more often during it. This it o my lasts about a week and things should settle down x

NaomiB79 · 14/01/2021 10:24

Think it only lasts about a week that was supposed to say!

Kj1010 · 14/01/2021 12:08

With constipation maybe bring there knees up to belly wen u see them straining does help a bit my lo for past few days night drinking more every few hours wide awake etc n I remember someone saying growth spurt

lionsmum · 14/01/2021 12:10

Hi everyone! So lovely to catch up and see how everyone is doing. Hopefully everyone is settling into their new routine, what a journey it is with a newborn! Wishing a lovely 2021 for everyone🙂

My LO had his immunisations today, it was relatively easy and he settled really quickly. Had given him some paracetamol just before and will give him another dose 4hrs after, hopefully keeps him settled but he's been sleeping since which is nice.

@Asianchick6693 my LO goes multiple times a day but my GP did say that babies can go up to 10 days without pooping! So I wouldn't worry unless she seems distressed. Always good to seek health visitor advice though (although I always find advice differs person to person!) hope she's doing ok.

@EithneBlue I find my LO is pooping less in the last week or so now! And he's 8 weeks now😊

Asianchick6693 · 14/01/2021 12:16

@lionsmum that's reassuring! She has been straining a little bit but passes wind and is okay again. Health visitor said avoid laxatives for now, reduce the infant gaviscon she is on to 3/4s of a sachet and keep doing bicycles and tummy time. She's still her usual happy self. Just strange to not see her go every day! I'm constantly waiting for her to do an explosive poo 😂

alphabetti · 14/01/2021 12:18

My baby girl 6wks now and has been feeding more frequently and has grown loads. Started putting her into 0-3mth clothes now!

Every nappy has at least a smear of yellow poo in it. I was told by health visitor that is normal especially for breastfed babies but she also said there is a huge range of normal with some babies not going much too. In the early days I gave my baby infacol to help with the wind and that caused constipation so she didn’t go for 6 days!

With my older 2 they had their 8wk injections and were fine maybe little bit unsettled for short time after but I can’t remember anything much so can’t have been too bad. I’m considering getting some baby calpol
In tho just incase?

lc86 · 14/01/2021 14:26

@Bigredriding lo is 6 weeks tomorrow and we have had the same with more regular feeding. Health visitor came this morning and said they go through a growth spurt at this age and it's probably that.
I was awake until 3am with him constantly screaming, finally settled and then back awake at 5:30 😩 can't wait for the 11/12 week mark when he is hopefully more settled and sleeping better.. saying that he's now having a lovely 3 hour nap 😒 seems to have day and night mixed up! x

lc86 · 14/01/2021 14:29

For constipation health visitor said to drip water over their bum and should stimulate it

kkr168 · 14/01/2021 16:10

We're back from Tommy's 6 week check up, he hasn't gained as much weight as they'd like but said that's to be expected with the reflux issues he was having. I've left a little confused though because after looking at the spots all over his face she said she thinks he's allergic to cows milk & that she'd probably have to change his milk again, then by the end of the appointment said she thinks it's eczema, prescribed a cream & told me to carry on with the comfort milk.

I believe it is a cows milk allergy because his face goes bright red & the spots are more pronounced as soon as he has a bottle. Also my other son has eczema, it looks nothing like Tommy's face, not even close! I'll give the cream a try though but really don't think it will work. She also prescribed lactulose for his constipation.

@Kj1010 we've been doing bicycle legs with him but it's not helped yet, unfortunately.

peachypetite · 14/01/2021 17:15

@lc86 have you tried it? I do think health visitors talk a lot of bollocks Grin @kkr168 doesn’t sound like the GP really knew. You’re his mum so go with your gut.

Pinktruffle · 14/01/2021 17:22

Ladies, sorry if this is TMI but had anyone's periods started up again? Mine seems to have started this morning but is much much lighter than usual, I've not even needed to change my sanitary towel.

Are they usually lighter postpartum? I earr expecting it to be quite heavy.

Pinktruffle · 14/01/2021 17:23

*I was expecting it to be quite heavy

lc86 · 14/01/2021 18:16

@peachypetite not tried the water over the bum yet, scared of an explosion lol 😂
