Omg yes @Trufflepuffpuff I’ve literally just text my mum to say I’m dreading going to sleep.

My baby blues seem to kick in at this time of night & I get really upset at the thought of not having sleep, but also at the thought of leaving him downstairs with his dad!

This is DH’s last week off, we’ve had a lovely 3 weeks hanging out so far (although DS is only 12 days old!) & I just want it to be like this forever.

Nic2908 · 10/01/2021 20:33

Thank you so much for your replies guys. Its instantly made me feel better. Noah is 3 weeks and 1 day and demolishes 4oz bottles. He tends to have 6-7 bottles over a 24 hour period. Sometimes 2 hours inbetween sometimes 5 hours.

I feel like I'm constantly worrying and anxious about his development too, can he see, can he hear, should he be doing this now. It does help im a paeds nurse so finding it hard to forget that and just be Noahs mummy. Is it normally to worry about these things??

lc86 · 10/01/2021 21:03

@Trufflepuffpuff yes, hate nights at the moment, find I get really anxious this time of night and if he sleeps too much in day etc thinking he won't sleep at night (not that he really does anyway 🤣) I also find I'm really anxious if I'm on my own with him, as though I won't know what to do if he cries etc.. he's my 3rd child so don't know why I feel like that as a have two beautiful and smart children aged 7 and 10 xx

lc86 · 10/01/2021 21:04

We were lucky and DH has 6 weeks off work full pay paternity, he goes back next Monday (working from home though for now) and I'm dreading being on my own! xx

Trufflepuffpuff · 10/01/2021 21:33

Wow @lc86 six weeks is amazing, it must be so nice to have all that time together. Yep I get the anxiety in the evening about whether she has slept too much or not enough during the day and whether I'll get any sleep. I hope it gets easier soon! Mine is nine weeks next week.

Pinktruffle · 11/01/2021 00:28

@trufflepuffpuff Yes, I get anxious every nightmare by some some miracle, my LO is actually asleep today but waking up when I put him in his crib so I'm holding him at the moment. Going to keep trying to put him down and I might actually get some sleep myself.

peachypetite · 11/01/2021 03:05

I also hate Sunday nights because husband back at wojtek, even though he works from home it isn’t the same!

Trufflepuffpuff · 11/01/2021 03:19

Ah I'm so glad it's not me. I had a real case of the Sunday blues last night, and I start dreading the night ahead every afternoon. My DD is up now and the chances are she won't settle again for the night now.

peachypetite · 11/01/2021 03:24

My daughter is wideeeee awake too. She just had colic but is now in I want to interact mode end wide eyed. I’m tired, my eyes are so dry. Z

Trufflepuffpuff · 11/01/2021 03:43

Haha @peachypetite mine does that sometimes. The worst is when she smiles at me and I'm trying not to engage too much with her but it's so hard! Mine's gone back down now but I don't think it'll be for long so I'm too nervous to go to sleep...

peachypetite · 11/01/2021 04:18

She’s still awake. Argh. I just want to sleep. I don’t understand how they can be like a dead weight lying on you and the second you put them in their own crib they wake up?!

Trufflepuffpuff · 11/01/2021 04:28

Does anyone's baby have a sour smelling mouth? I can't tell if it's normal or a sign of reflux. It's sort of like sour milk rather than acid I think, but I can't really tell and I have nothing to compare it to!

Trufflepuffpuff · 11/01/2021 04:29

Yep same here @peachypetite I put her down for a bit and she looked like she was going to sleep then she started thrashing around...

peachypetite · 11/01/2021 04:43

@Trufflepuffpuff has baby been sick? Could be that? I wipe my daughter’s face and neck and moisturise her after she’s been sick otherwise it’s a not very nice smell. She’s been asleep on me for about half an hour now so going to attempt to put her down again....

Trufflepuffpuff · 11/01/2021 04:46

She is sick sometimes @peachypetite but it's a fairly constant smell. I'm worried it's a sign of reflux and I don't know whether it's a problem or not. She's formula fed if that makes a difference - not sure if their breath normally smells a bit. I'm going to try again too but don't have high hopes at this point!

peachypetite · 11/01/2021 05:15

Kill me. Seriously. I don’t understand how she hasn’t crashed out yet!!!

Pinktruffle · 11/01/2021 05:47

Mine went down in his crib from 2am till 4.50am and was asleep in my arms from 1.20am. That's the most sleep I've gotten at night in some time. Him sleeping for nearly 4 hours is a revelation.

He's had another feed now and we are back to sleeping in my arms. Hopefully he will go down eventually.

I feel for you @peachypetite. Has she been the same all night?

peachypetite · 11/01/2021 05:50

@Pinktrufflei went to bed about 10 and my husband brought her up at 1.30 so I got a few hours. This is what we do every night so I can get some rest before! Just have to tell ourselves this is just a phase right?

Pinktruffle · 11/01/2021 06:02

I bloody hope so. I cant carry on like the last few nights though mine has been a lot better tonight. I would settle happily for tonight's antics every night. Can you imagine having to go back to work with them sleeping like this?!

Trufflepuffpuff · 11/01/2021 06:05

@peachypetite it's been pretty similar here, I thought she'd settled back down but then she woke up pretty quickly. It's exhausting thinking you're about to get some sleep and then having to get up again. We've been up since 3 now...

peachypetite · 11/01/2021 08:17

She slept for just over two hours and woke up hungry. I feel pretty ruined today!

lc86 · 11/01/2021 09:27

Why do all these babies fight sleep so much!! I love sleep 😩

peachypetite · 11/01/2021 09:44

@Pinktruffle I know. I don’t get how short maternity is in some countries, how do women cope? I’m taking minimum a year off with her.

jalu47 · 11/01/2021 10:02

@peachypetite @Pinktruffle seems I had a similar night to you both. Up at 2.15 and didn't sleep between feeds, one just went into the next as he was so wide awake and fussy, finally got to sleep about 5.15. Been terrible again this morning too.. think he might be going through a leap - at least I hope so and it's just a phase 😫

Jellycat2020 · 11/01/2021 10:49

I feel for all you ladies going through crap with lack of sleep 😔 Each baby is different but maybe what helped us will help one of yours...
I'm touching all the wood when saying this but we've had a great week of night time sleep with our little one - around 6.5 - 7.5 hours a night. Sometimes she starts chirping at 4am but normally settles herself or just needs a hand on her tummy. The keys for us seem to have been Dr Brown's anti-colic bottles and Dentinox which has helped with her colic and wind, and having her in a sleeping bag.
Daytime naps are a different matter! We're working on them! 🤨
