@Trufflepuffpuff totally agree!! It's always the weekend or really late at night when you need help off someone!

Trufflepuffpuff · 09/01/2021 20:30

Oh that's good news @lc86 and I know how you feel about medication. I really didn't want to give it but my health visitor encouraged me - it is worth it to make it easier for them and for us so don't feel guilty!

Anyone's breast fed baby sleeping longer than two hours at night ? I'm shattered 💤 she also has really bad reflux, brings her milk back up a lot and then thinks she's hungry again. It's a viscious cycle 😫💤

Charl88 · 09/01/2021 22:36

@viixie im having the same issue with my bf baby too. We go about 2.5 hours and he brings milk up. He guzzles really quickly and I have quite a fast let down which gives him wind then hiccups then he's sick then wants more milk. Its frustrating!! X

Nic2908 · 10/01/2021 00:05

Hi guys any formula fed babies mummies can you help? How much does your little one had st 3 weeks old? I'm sure I am over feeding.

Pinktruffle · 10/01/2021 02:31

@Nic2908 Mine was on 4 ounces every 3 hours at 3 weeks, he went on to 4 ounces very quickly to be honest as he was draining 3 every feed and looking for more, he was about a week and a half old when we went to 4. He has been slower to move to 5 ounces. He's 7 and a half weeks old now and only really moved on to 5 ounces every feed a few days ago.

I'm up again with him. Hes just fallen asleep on my chest but he really tested me tonight. I had to leave him crying in his crib as I had had enough and needed to get away. I was also secretly hoping the crying would tire him out. I felt awful but didnt know what else to do as I was going to lose it stay up 12 till 3am has very much become a pattern with my LO and I have no idea how to change it.

jalu47 · 10/01/2021 02:37

@Nic2908 mine was taking 1L a day from 10 days!! He's nearly 5 weeks and taking an average of 1.1L in 24hrs now. Feeding every 2.5-3 hrs and we are giving 150ml each feed. Sometimes he only takes 90 or 120 but sometimes draining the bottle. He was born at 8lb 3 and went on to formula at day 2 as I had sepsis, he was used to being full very early on and kept going. We think he's over 11lb now. He's never sick and we feed slowly - over an hour - so health visitor said it's ok. I want to try abs get those 2.5-3 gaps to 4 in the next couple of weeks!

Trufflepuffpuff · 10/01/2021 02:44

@Pinktruffle don't feel bad, you did the right thing. I had to do the same thing today as I was getting so upset as my baby was screaming and scratching at my face. Sometimes you need a break.

Pinktruffle · 10/01/2021 03:11

Thanks @Trufflepuffpuff. Mine has started to do the lashing out thing and has hit meningitis the face a couple of times - he hits surprisingly hard for such a little thing!

Trufflepuffpuff · 10/01/2021 03:25

It's horrible isn't it @Pinktruffle ? I have to remind myself it's not personal! But it is normal to feel frustrated and tired at times, and all the advice says to put them down somewhere safe and take a breather.

peachypetite · 10/01/2021 04:34

@Pinktruffle hopefully it will pass. My baby has been so much calmer the last couple of days, the app was spot on, weirdly accurate!

jalu47 · 10/01/2021 05:15

When did your LOs start smiling? Mine is nearly 5 weeks and get little glimpses but think they are wind related. Can't wait till he actually smiles back at me!

Pinktruffle · 10/01/2021 05:20

@peachypetite I really hope so. I've spent most of the night Googling hours to reset a newborns sleep routine and its not really possible. Tbe few suggestions there are, I've already tried.

Pinktruffle · 10/01/2021 05:20

*how to reset

Pinktruffle · 10/01/2021 05:23

@Jalu47 my little one has given me the odd smile for about a week now. On Friday, I was reading him a sensory book my brother bought him and I got a very definite smile when he was looking at one of the contrast pictures. It was the first time I was 100% sure that it was a smile and not wind or something similar.

viixie · 10/01/2021 06:39

@Charl88 it's really frustrating.
I thought I was doing really well, nappy changed, fed and back in the Moses basket in less than 45 minutes but no! Once she was flat she did a massive vomit everywhere. Bedding changed, baby changed and now feeding again 😫

lc86 · 10/01/2021 08:58

We had the worst night we have had with lo last night, felt like we were awake all night. Can't wait for this first leap to be over 😴

NaomiB79 · 10/01/2021 10:00

I feel bad posting this as I know so many of you are struggling with sleep but hopefully it'll give you hope that things will get better. I had many nights with no sleep because of colic up until she was 8 weeks old but last night my little girl slept for 9 hours straight - she's 10 weeks old today. I feel amazing!

viixie · 10/01/2021 10:12

@NaomiB79 that gives me some hope Thankyou Grin

lc86 · 10/01/2021 10:37

@NaomiB79 🙌🏼 I remember my eldest girls starting to sleep better around 11 weeks.. so glad you're lo is giving you sleep, I can't wait for this again xx

jalu47 · 10/01/2021 11:46

@Pinktruffle how old is your LO?

kkr168 · 10/01/2021 12:45

@jalu47 my son's 5 weeks (almost 6) & is doing proper little smiles now. I recorded a cute video of him this morning playing in his bouncy chair, smiling, cooing & giggling. It seems early to me but his older brother was the same, he hit most milestones alot earlier then expected.
@NaomiB79 I cannot wait till this day, sounds like heaven, I feel lucky if he gives me 4 hours 🤣

MaverickDanger · 10/01/2021 13:05

Hahaha another one grateful to @NaomiB79 for bringing hope!

Day 12 and he actually slept pretty well last night. 3.30 - 5.30 and then 6.45 - 8.30 in his Moses basket which allowed me to sleep. As long as I’m contorted around the basket and keep a hand on his stomach Hmm

DH had him from 8-2 and syringe fed him at midnight ish. I’m wondering at what point we switch to giving him expressed milk from a bottle. Our feeding team are pretty convincing to keep giving the syringe or cup instead.

I’m managing to get between 4-5 ounces per day just from milk shells so pretty happy for DH to give him a feed without messing up my supply - just don’t want to confused L with the teat!

Pinktruffle · 10/01/2021 13:13

@Jalu47 sorry, I should have stated that! He is 7 weeks. He has been doing what I think are smiles for about 2 weeks but like I said, earlier this week was a definite. He is at it again this morning and just adorable. Makes me forget the sleepless nights!

Trufflepuffpuff · 10/01/2021 19:28

Does anyone else get a bit of a fear each evening about what the night is going to be like and whether you'll get any sleep? Or is that just me?! I find it's worse on a Sunday when my partner is due back at work.
