@Babyhope98 it was £200 and w lot quicker than trying to get it done on the NHS.
So annoyed that it wasn’t picked up before. I’ve killed myself expressing milk and pumping religiously to build my supply which has been really hard work.

Trufflepuffpuff · 09/01/2021 08:37

Thanks @NaomiB79 I was thinking I should do that. How much does your 10-week old have in 24hrs? I'm worried mine is having too much. I've had really mixed messages about over feeding and I'm worried we're giving her too much, but we never force her to drink it and we try to respond to her cues. I don't even know who to speak to for advice as the GPs are pretty unhelpful.

NaomiB79 · 09/01/2021 08:54

@Trufflepuffpuff you could ask your Health Visitor for advice if you are worried or unsure but you know your baby best and if you think they need more I'd give them it. I'm combi feeding so always difficult to know what my lo gets from breastfeeds but we offer her five 6oz bottles between 7.30am and 8.30pm then through the night if she wakes I breastfeed her and she'll have a couple of short bfs through the day too. She was over 9lb at birth.

Babyhope98 · 09/01/2021 09:04

I can’t imagine how hard that has been for you and you’ve preserved well done you, you should be really proud of yourself. I don’t think they pick it up unless it’s really obvious. They checked my daughters said it was fine, but she clicks tongue while feeding a lot which can be a sign of tongue tie and might be why she’s so windy. I was thinking of getting her checked but cautious to find somewhere on the internet rather than a referral from someone x @peachypetite

Jellycat2020 · 09/01/2021 09:51

@peachypetite oh I'm so glad you've found a possible reason why you've had so much trouble and hope it gets better for you from here on in. My little girls tongue tie was missed too and we had hers snipped privately at 5 weeks. Cost us £140 (Cheltenham).

Jellycat2020 · 09/01/2021 09:53

@Babyhope98 if you have a look at The Association of Tongue Tie Practitioners then they're all registered and legit. It was recommended by the midwife. We chose our guy off there.

@Babyhope98 where are you based? You can search here

To those worrying about lo's having too much milk, please don't stress. If lo is hungry, then give more. If baby was on the breast you wouldn't be measuring it. I only say this as I made myself really unwell when my 7 year old was a baby, overthinking everything, following all 'the rules', I would sit there in tears quite often. This time I'm just going with the flow. No baby is the same so if your lo wants more and is hungry, then you do what you think is best for them and you xx

Kj1010 · 09/01/2021 12:19

@lc86 totally agree with you if lo is hungry then feed that's what I do we know our babies better than anyone I dont take notice what they say should be on this that etc on tins etc never have and I have 3 healthy teenage/adult children an I know my lo will be absolutely fine x

kkr168 · 09/01/2021 13:44

Anyone else scared to put there lo into bed?
At 1am my son fell asleep on me whilst burping him after his bottle, put him into his crib & straight away he was wide awake & crying to be held again. It took 2 hours to get him to settle again, that was in our bed & then I didn't want to move him to his own bed because I couldn't deal with more crying!! So tired today now.

kkr168 · 09/01/2021 13:49

@peachypetite how's she feeding now?

Snowwhite2020 · 09/01/2021 14:02

@kkr168- yes, very much recognise this issue!

Kj1010 · 09/01/2021 14:11

@kkr168 we have had our lo in with us for a few weeks as we had the same problem would take ages to get to sleep then put him in crib and bam wide awake like every hour and we just couldn't deal with the lack of sleep so now he's in with us I know not great but he sleeps straight away plus we dont cuddle him he has his own space so we are wondering if the moses basket to narrow for him and that why I font sleep heavy when he is in the bed though as I'm very aware he is there I will be looking into getting him his own little bed soon

lc86 · 09/01/2021 14:52

@kkr168 yes I can relate to this! Falls asleep lovely on us and wakes as soon as he's put down 😩

MaverickDanger · 09/01/2021 15:14

@kkr168 yep he’s had about 5 lots of 45 mins over the past couple of nights in his Moses basket - it’s an absolute mission to get him in it though.

I take a hot water bottle up to heat the bed up & make sure he’s in his swaddle bag. I then have to do the feed, change, feed cycle & then lie with my hand on his chest.

Hardly seems worth all the effort for 45 mins sleep.

Snowwhite2020 · 09/01/2021 15:17

@kkr168 @MaverickDanger yes it’s brutal especially for so little shit eye from it but we are persevering and hoping it improves...

Snowwhite2020 · 09/01/2021 15:17

Shut lol

peachypetite · 09/01/2021 19:03

Thanks all @kkr168 @Jellycat2020 @Babyhope98 she’s almost doubled what she’s drinking from a bottle! Just shows how tired she must have been feeding before. Her tongue tie wasn’t the most obvious - heart shaped etc but still annoyed nobody considered it when we had so much difficulty in the hospital where in the end had to ha d express!

lc86 · 09/01/2021 19:15

Does anyone have any tips for helping with constipation due to gaviscon infant? My lo is really suffering x

Babyhope98 · 09/01/2021 19:20

Oh amazing! I wonder if her colic will improve too! Thanks for the links I will have a look for a local one to me as she always makes this clicking noise I think there is a good chance she has one too @peachypetite

Trufflepuffpuff · 09/01/2021 20:18

@lc86 ours has been really grumpy today and I was wondering if it's constipation. She's been on it for about a week though with no problems, how quickly did the constipation come on? I've heard there's something you can get from the pharmacy but think you need a GP to prescribe...

lc86 · 09/01/2021 20:21

@Trufflepuffpuff just over a week now and we noticed the constipation yesterday. He's never cried quite like it before, heartbreaking! And his poops have been like rabbit poo! We have just given him 1ml of lactulose to try and help him and not giving anymore gaviscon until we can speak to the dr Monday xx

Trufflepuffpuff · 09/01/2021 20:25

Oh no, maybe that's what's happening here too. How much gaviscon were you giving him a day? We only give her 2-3 sachets as I'm so nervous about the constipation. But she's been really upset today so maybe that's it. Is the lactulose not helping?

Trufflepuffpuff · 09/01/2021 20:27

Also why do these things always happen at the weekend @lc86 ? It's not fair.

lc86 · 09/01/2021 20:29

@Trufflepuffpuff we were giving it every other feed but the last two days have given it 6 times a day so I don't think that's agreed with his stomach! The lactulose helped, he just went and is now fast asleep and settled 🙌🏼 going to check with the doctor if we are ok to keep giving gaviscon and a drop of lactulose each day. As much as I hate him having medication, I just want him to be comfortable and a quiet life for us 🙊
