@Scotti84 Congrats! 😀 It's mad isn't it how you go from ecstatic to bricking it from hour to hour, I'm driving my DP mad as I keep going from one to the other 😂.

I'm steering clear of soft cheeses, alcohol and reducing my caffeine as much as poss. Most eggs are red lion stamped so should be safe to eat runny so I've had a cheeky fried egg yesterday. Won't make it a regular thing tho to be on the safe side! I swear my in laws are suspicious cause I turned down baked Camembert, smoked salmon, Brie filo parcels and alcohol yesterday 🧐.

@KitQ Ahaha brilliant, Boxing Day is the ultimate time for napping and eating tons! I'll be doing the same but going for a walk later to stop me from getting stuck on my sofa 🙂.

@Everstorm Oh my god congrats on to the engagement!! 😍 What a memorable Christmas it has been for you and the family! Loving the sound of your Boxing Day rules, I'm already eyeing up all the party food in my fridge...

Scotti84 · 26/12/2020 12:51

@eb1989 awesome! Is this your first too?

@Everstorm congrats on the engagement! Lots of lovely things for you to look forward to!

@Scaredycat101 yes! My other half is so relaxed with everything I’m sure he thinks I’m insane! I live in Germany so we don’t have the red lion stamp, but I think I’ll just try and be sure I cook eggs properly, dippy eggs will have to be on a break for now. I had to lie to my in laws, tell them I’m on antibiotics so couldn’t drink, it’s not nice having to do it but i dont want to tell them this early, and when it comes to pouring alcohol they don’t accept no thanks without a good reason, especially not at Xmas 🤦🏻‍♀️

Scaredycat101 · 26/12/2020 13:06

@Scotti84 Ahah mine is the same too, so laidback he's practically asleep most of the time 🙄. Ahh no! Yep, sounds like runny or dippy eggs are off the menu now how annoying! Although, it'll all well worth it in the long run!

Oooh the old antibiotic lie, it's not nice at all but needs must especially if they don't tend to take no for an answer when it comes to drinks! I'm convinced my DP's family know cause they al kept saying separately it'll be our turn soon... DP nearly let it slip! Hope you had a lovely time anyway despite the dodging of alcohol!

eb1989 · 26/12/2020 15:15

Wow @Everstorm congratulations all round! Amazing news, bet you're so happy!

@Scotti84 yes this will be my first! I'm feeling so anxious. I had a weird blessing this week of self isolation for 9 days from work. So at least I can rest as much as possible. Although work does help keep my mind busy!
Love the antibiotic lie 🤣 did they ask you why you were taking them?

@KitQ yes to the naps! Now for some more food I think!

Scaredycat101 · 26/12/2020 17:44

Hi all!

Had a bit of a anxiety spiral earlier, worrying about whether morning sickness will be horrendous and what other joyous symptoms will arrive in the next few weeks (4 weeks today).

Has anyone else had any cramps and lower back pain or other symptoms? I've been having these on and off today and ended up overthinking everything whilst DP watched the football! I shouldn't be left to my own devices I swear, feeling very silly! 😭

JollyHollyFolly · 26/12/2020 18:06

@Scaredycat101 I've been having cramps for 4 days or so and got back ache today. I thought AF was arriving so didn't test until I was 2 days late and got BFP two days ago. I'm 4+3 now and trying not to worry about the cramps. This is my second but DD is 8 so I do not remember how everything was at all then. Also panicking about what advice must have changed in that time RE: pregnancy advice!!

Don't punish yourself for overthinking, it's so natural to do that but I hope you can take your mind off things with something. My partner is also very chilled about everything and watching the football!

eb1989 · 26/12/2020 18:08

@Scaredycat101 I know how you feel! I decided to nap for most of the football to keep my mind at rest 🤣 it's just constant worrying isn't it!?

My cramps seem to have settled. Sometimes get some muscle pain. My only symptom is my sore boobs! Each day they get more sore!

In a weird way I would just like some more symptoms so it feels a bit more real. I'm still checking every time I go to the toilet just in case.

Scaredycat101 · 26/12/2020 18:54

@JollyHollyFolly and @eb1989 Aw thank you both for replying! Hope your Boxing Day has been filled with rest, food and snoozes!

Good to know I'm not the only one with cramps and/or back ache! I'm doing the same when going to the loo, always look with one eye open! 😫 Mine seem to be getting worse too, I have pretty bad lumps and they are killing more and more. May have to start sleeping in a sports bra!

What is it with DPs and football eh, wish I could get lost in it so it saves me worrying! I'm going to start off some new embroidery tonight which has helped zone out in the past.

I just dread to go back to work on the 4th and if I encounter any morning sickness by then, the loo is a very long way from my office argh! 😭😫

Darklava09 · 26/12/2020 21:36

@JollyHollyFolly I’m in the same boat and my DS is also 8 so it’s been ages.
I get bad cramps each night... tonight it’s more specifically on my right side and it’s so bad worse than period cramps but not sure how normal it is or not?
My other half is also laid back so it’s not just yours haha.

Scotti84 · 26/12/2020 23:38

@eb1989 they did, I have had a small patch of hair fall out, which could also be due to the pregnancy, but told them it was an infection and they accepted that. If I hadn’t lied and they’d made me drink they’d be annoyed when I did tell them eventually so im sure they will understand. It gets me over Xmas and new year and there’s no real occasions after that for a bit so I should be able to get through it without having to lie again until I can tell them.

@Scaredycat101 I have a few cramps, not too bad but more like tugging than normal period cramping. Bit of back ache too and nausea but not enough to throw up. I read on an app that cravings should start soon too, had anyone had any of them yet? I have absolutely no appetite!

Rice1992 · 26/12/2020 23:47

Hi all, just found this thread and thought I’d join after getting my BFP at 12DPO last Tuesday (have also tested every day since and the line has got stronger so I’m pleased about that). I waited until Christmas Day to tell my husband though and although hard, it was an amazing surprise for him 🥰

Now though the anxieties have started. This is my first pregnancy and I have no idea what should feel ‘normal’. I kind of have what’s like a sensitive spot down my lower right hand side, and can kind of feel on and off that it’s there and pulling. But don’t know if it’s muscular or what. Going to book an early test next week for when we reach 8/9 weeks, but just praying everything is ok in the meantime. Hoping you can all put my mind at ease!

If all is well though, I’ll be due somewhen between 31st Aug and 3rd Sep according to a few different sources! Will be so nice to speak to others who are at the same point in their journeys, so I’m so glad I found this thread. Wishing you all healthy (and speedy if you like) first trimesters 💛

Sparrow91 · 27/12/2020 07:44

Morning everyone! Thank god the festivities are over... and now the baby planning can commence rubs hands together hope everyone has had a lovely few days given all the differing restrictions!

@Everstorm congrats on the proposal! It sounds lovely and romantic Grin

@Scaredycat101 I’m the exact same with the anxiety too.. like I do feel different but not enough? Like where is the sickness? (I will regret these words in a few weeks I’m sure haha)
I’ve also been getting really awful cramps - more pain - in my right hand side, almost following around my hip bone. I even started googling ectopic pregnancy yesterday cause I was so worried Confused

@Rice1992 congrats on your BFP! Sounds very similar to the pain I’ve had too, hopefully everything has calmed down a bit for you today ❤️

Has anyone booked in a private (early) scan yet? I found an offer for one that is literally a couple of minutes away so I’ve booked it for 7 weeks!

Sceptre86 · 27/12/2020 08:09

@everstorm, congratulations on your engagement! Such lovely news.

Hope everyone had a lovely Xmas. Have many people told family yet? I speak to my mum everyday and am dying to tell her. Don't know how long I am going to be able to keep it a secret.

Feeling excited and well but the nausea has kicked in this morning. Took me by surprise as whilst nauseous in my last two pregnancies I was rarely sick. I don't remember it starting so early the last two times.

KitQ · 27/12/2020 08:12

@Sparrow91 Yeah I’m booked in for January 19th (just happened to have that week off work so went for it.) I’ll be 7 weeks and 2 days. Only £45 and it’s just opposite where I work. I’m so glad I booked last week because they didn’t have many appointments left that week so I recommend everyone calling sooner rather than later if you do want an early scan.

Sceptre86 · 27/12/2020 08:12

@sparrow91 I haven't booked an early scan yet but am toying with the idea. I will be consultant led and so have a few extra scans anyway. It is always exciting seeing baby though and very reassuring in the earlier weeks, definitely makes it seem more real.

Ralala · 27/12/2020 08:22

Hi everyone. I will get an extra scan due to my previous loss so I will see when that gets arranged for.

I find nhs website best place for info and guidance. So much incorrect info on some websites xxx

Sparrow91 · 27/12/2020 08:37

@Sceptre86 we’ve had to tell both sets of parents. I found out an hour before I was meant to go to PIL for a heavy night of drinking.. we couldn’t lie! They were absolutely thrilled and I’m so glad we at least have some support for both of us if things go wrong. I think it’s such an individual thing you need to go with you ❤️ Congrats on the nausea too! Are you 4 weeks? Let us know what you decide for the scan - also what’s the difference with being consultant led, are you monitored more closely?

@KitQ ahh that sounds fab! I’ve booked for Jan 16th - we’ll have to compare notes Wink I agree, I was lucky I got a Saturday slot!

@Ralala it’s a minefield with all the info! I’ve been trying to find a good pregnancy book but everything seems to be US focused or out of date! Thanks for the tip! Fingers crossed you get the extra scan earlyish for some extra reassurance x

Ralala · 27/12/2020 08:43

So much out of date info . You just need to look at the info on eggs online. Mayonnaise is another and hair dye. Thankfully I find the midwifes at the booking in appointment are very helpful and reassuring . Easier said than done not to over think especially right now with the world being crazy and normal life seeming far away still

KitQ · 27/12/2020 08:45

@Sparrow91 yes definitely! I can’t wait. Calling the doctors on Wednesday for my first phone consultation, looking forward to getting the ball rolling.

Anybody else really tired? I’ve had over 8 hours of sleep and my eyes are aching like it’s evening and I’ve not slept the night before. Nap required today.

Ralala · 27/12/2020 08:48

@KitQ the tiredness is unreal. It’s usually my first sign when I’m falling asleep on the couch at 8pm. I can’t wait for the first trimester bloat too soon! Luckily I seem to avoid most pregnancy symptoms with my toddler! Fingers crossed!

Rice1992 · 27/12/2020 09:41

@Sparrow91 thank you! I’m glad I’m not alone with this weird cramping/sensitivity in my lower right stomach as it’s more reassuring, but I just hope for both of us it doesn’t mean anything bad 🙏🏼 I’ve done exactly the same with googling ectopic pregnancy 🤦🏼‍♀️ What will be will be I suppose, I just wish there was an easy way to check everything/know either way.

I haven’t had too many other symptoms other than really bad bloating and occasional back ache. I felt really nauseous when I was going to sleep last night, but think that was because I ate a lot y’day 😅 Going to see if I can book an early scan today.

Scaredycat101 · 27/12/2020 10:01

Morning all!

@Rice1992 Congrats on your BFP and lovely that you told your husband on Christmas Day! 🥰 Feeling the same, cramping all over and lower backache aplenty - feels like AF is here it's horrid!

I'm toying with getting an early scan but I'm so unsure! DP thinks we could just wait until 12 weeks but I thought maybe one at 8 weeks would help reassure us! I know they're only snapshots and things could change, but it could take a massive weight off my shoulders! There's a place near me where the owner is an NHS sonographer and it about £50 so going to think it over.

@Sparrow91 I'm the same! Though this morning the cramps and backache are horrendous 😭! I think with ectopics they can give shoulder blade pain and bleeding? Hopefully all is well tho and this is just how the pregnancy is progressing atm 😀.

Going to call my GP on Tuesday to ask whether I need to see them or if I can be referred to the MW. All in all I'm see-sawing between being happy and relaxed to panicking that by 12 weeks it'll all end. Blergh! Trying to keep those thoughts out tho 🙈

Rice1992 · 27/12/2020 10:19

@Scaredycat101 thank you! It was so hard keeping it as secret as I knew from Tuesday, and I was really mean and told him that I’d come on my AF Christmas Eve day, and then Christmas Eve night he was telling me how he felt sad and worried - I felt awful! But made the surprise even better Christmas Day morning. I was awake from 5am because I was so excited 😅

Congrats on your BFP too! When are you ‘due’ (albeit a loose guess atm until we get to the 12 weeks)? I’m probably going to see how the next couple of weeks go and then maybe book an 8/9 week one for the 24th Jan. They’re pretty expensive (although yours at £50 is not bad!) but worth it for the reassurance I think.

I’m totally with you in see-sawing between the emotions! It’s so hard isn’t it! But like you say, hopefully this is just pregnancy for us as individuals and not anything to worry about 🤷🏼‍♀️🤞🏻 I’m also hoping that the pain/cramps could be the bloating/constipation instead, as those symptoms have definitely appeared over the last few days. Or maybe that’s just all the Christmas food I’ve been eating 😅

Going to do the same re. The doctors though, so let’s hope they’ll help to reassure us!

KitQ · 27/12/2020 10:54

I’ve booked an early scan cause in my county you have to go to hospital scans alone at the moment. Husband is gutted about that so I think we’ll do a few private scans (if nothing changes with the rules) so he can feel involved.

Scaredycat101 · 27/12/2020 11:19

@Rice1992 Ahaha your poor DP! Even tho it was a teeny bit mean it must have been so amazing to tell him the great news, he'll remember that forever now! Haha great stuff, much like a kid on Christmas morning awake at 5am!! Love that ☺️.

From my last AF the NHS site has estimated the 4th September, so fingers crossed all goes to plan! I think I'll do the same, it's a long wait even to 8-9 weeks let alone 12! There's another place closer in the city where I live but it's about £80 I think, but I'm trying to save as many pennies as I can!

Yep I think mine could be to do with lots of eating and needing the loo, it'll be interesting to see how we all feel come next week! I hope the GP/MW will be reassuring, they've heard these concerns hundreds of times I bet.

@KitQ I think we have the same rules in our county too, no signs of it changing when it comes to antenatal scans, etc. Although I saw in the news recently that they're putting to government whether partners/family can attend those initial scans to support, etc. I said to DP if that's still the case then we'll get a private scan so he can feel involved, too.
