@Scaredycat101 I've known I'm pregnant for just over 24 hours and my head is so busy I had to dump everything on am excel spreadsheet 😂 My husband thinks I'm gone nuts. He's so cool about things, probably for the best as I'm definifely not 😂 although he has started picking up the dog and pretending its his baby so I suppose that's slight engagement 😂

Ralala · 27/12/2020 21:55

I will call the GP when I hit 6 weeks or so. Booking in appointments aren’t scheduled in my area until 10 weeks so really no point in booking in too early for me.

Our local epu will only see you once you are 6 weeks plus. You also need to have experience painful cramps and bright red blood. Sadly I had a miscarriage last time and those were the criteria to be seen and even then they wouldn’t automatically scan. If you are anxious about anything a private scan may be best and if anything picked up then you can head to the hospital from there. You may have a more user friendly epu in your area though xxxx

Highfalutinlootin · 27/12/2020 22:05

@DiamondsInThe I also came here to see if anyone else has had any bleeding or spotting as I woke up yesterday, which was 4 weeks 2 days for me, with some mild brown, watery discharge and have been worrying ever since. I took another test yesterday and today and both still strong positive, and there hasn't been any red blood. But I'll still worried. Glad to know I'm not alone! Anyone else experienced brown discharge or spotting so early in previous pregnancies? Thinking of getting an HCG beta test for reassurance.

KitQ · 27/12/2020 22:10

Isn’t it so awful that we have to worry about every little thing and everything is so uncertain? It’s so stressful. I’ve had a bit of cramp pain in lower back and I asked husband to give it a gentle rub and he instantly went in with his knuckles trying to massage the pain out. It wasn’t super hard but it definitely wasn’t as gentle as he thought. I told him to stop but now I’m just worrying he shouldn’t have done that. Feel so silly but also I just want to be so careful.

Scotti84 · 27/12/2020 22:24

@DiamondsInThe congrats on your bfp!
I’ve had spotting the past few days too, started off pinkish and then brown, from what I’ve read i think it’s implantation bleeding. I stick to forum searching rather than google, I find one google answer is exactly what I want to hear and the next is exactly the opposite

Highfalutinlootin · 27/12/2020 23:15

@Scotti84 Is it possible to have implantation bleeding more than 11 days after implantation and BFP though? Just seems like such a long time for the blood to work its way out.

Highfalutinlootin · 27/12/2020 23:20

@Scotti84 You're right, it's just so much worrying! I keep reminding myself to just be grateful that we've gotten over the first hurdle that many never get over, and we know we are not infertile.

DiamondsInThe · 27/12/2020 23:33

Thank you everyone for your replies, it is light brown spotting but I just can’t help thinking the worst. Will call epu tomorrow to get some advice considering my history and see what they say.

Have been testing everyday, I can see the progression as the lines are getting darker and my boobs are hurting more and more with each day which makes me feel positive but ah the brown spotting is just a dampener Sad

eb1989 · 28/12/2020 07:55

@DiamondsInThe good idea to call. Hopefully they can help put your mind at rest or offer some advice. Let us know how you're doing, we're here to listen and help x

Scotti84 · 28/12/2020 08:01

@Highfalutinlootin honestly I have no idea, I guess there’s a lot going on in there atm and things moving around and burrowing in etc so in my mind a bit of crap being kicked out makes sense. I read that some people have practically full on periods the first month and go on to have normal healthy pregnancies so I’m not worrying too much. If it was bright red blood or clots then I would probably be more worried about it. I do keep taking tests now and then to check, just want to get to my first appt tbh, have someone else confirm it. Then it’ll feel more real I think

Sparrow91 · 28/12/2020 09:02

Good morning everyone! Wow this thread moves fast 😂 welcome @Raffie13, @felicityheather, @Luna57, @DiamondsInThe, @2020mc and congrats on your BFPs! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 for some sticky beans x

@KitQ I'll be calling doctors tomorrow hopefully! I was planning to do it today but forgot it's a 'BH'.. never wanted it to not be a BH so much 😂
Also 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ really tired too. I feel like I've been hit by a truck! And of course yesterday DP just had to spring clean the entire house.. 🤨 I left him and went to bed! 😂

So gutted to hear about the scan situation in your county too, it's a total disgrace! Hopefully it changes soon so your DH can come too x

@Rice1992 how are those cramps doing now? Yesterday I started to get back ache instead of cramps, so wondering if it's similar for you?

@Scaredycat101 I'm the exact same with the see-sawing!! I just want to relax but then I'm worried I'm going to be really hurt if something does go wrong! It's so hard isn't it?

@Darklava09/@Scotti84/@Scaredycat101 any pros/cons on the childminder/nursery conundrum?! Newbie here is going to have to do some reading up to make a decision.. part of me thinks I'll want to go back to work after 6 months too!

@eb1989 I'm the worst enabler, but I say book the scan 😉 even if it's 8 weeks on it'll still give some reassurance and let you see your baby!

Hope everyone with the spotting is okay - sounds so scary! Hopefully you can get reassurance if you need it that everything is well and good!

Also, am I the only one with no boob pain at all? My nipples are turning into flying saucers though 😂

felicityheather · 28/12/2020 09:33

@Sparrow91 no boob or nipple pain yet here. I'm still breastfeeding my 1yo. No idea if that makes a difference or if that's gonna cause me any issues?

DiamondsInThe · 28/12/2020 09:50

Morning @Sparrow91 feeling a little less anxious today will call EPU shortly, but am I the only one with insomnia, I just can’t sleep?! Was awake until at least 3/4am just tossing and turning and then wide awake at 8am again

Darklava09 · 28/12/2020 10:00

@Sparrow91 that made me laugh r.e the flying saucers. It gets worse believe me at the end hahah Grin

We did nursery last time and the fees are higher, they don’t always listen my son has allergies and rather than find a food he could have they’d just feed him random stuff and he has so many allergic reactions. It’s hard to find a decent nursery that ticks off a lot of what you want. Where we live now there are a lot of childminders and I just like how they take the children on the school run, take them out in the community and will stick to your routines. It just seems more homely rather than rigid. I like that they take them to the park or the go out in the local area whereas nurseries do a lot less of that! We shall see.

My advice would be start looking well in advance as it will take a while for you to most likely find something your happy with!

KitQ · 28/12/2020 10:08

@Sparrow91 Ah let me know how the doctors call goes, want to hear what the process will be for you from here. I’m calling Wednesday cause I’m working tomorrow but off Wednesday and I don’t want to be taking the phone consultation at work. Haha the tiredness is real! I’m also very up down with my moods I need to get a grip haha boobs are very sore and nipples hurt too. I have very large boobs and they feel very heavy generally anyway but deep underneath all the boob my chest is very very sore to touch.

Scaredycat101 · 28/12/2020 10:37

@2020mc Ahah that made me laugh about your husband with the dog 😂! We all love a trier and bet your dog loved the attention! I'm not at the spreadsheet stage but I bet it'll be here soon, I love a good list.

@Sparrow91 Same, still on the see-saw of joy and panic at the moment and hating it 😂🤦🏽‍♀️. I'm a total newbie but petrified about how childcare and work will, pardon the pun, work for us! My sister had my parents to help with childcare (she had PND and my parents have their own business, so she went to work whilst my mum and I had little one). We have support of family but I don't want to put upon them, but know how expensive nurseries are 😭. Childminders are sometimes less expensive from what I've read so far, but some creative fantastic environments and are super flexible. I'll be a 6 monther for sure, which makes me a little sad but needs must.

Ahaha flying saucers made me laugh, mine weren't far off anyway pre preggers so I'm dreading what they'll end up like 😂🤦🏽‍♀️. I don't really have boob pain but the lumps are hurting like heck! Period style cramps and back pain are still coming in strong tho...

@DiamondsInThe Hope the call goes well today and you get some good advice, let us know how you get on! 💛

Hope everyone is feeling positive today amidst spotting and general frustration trimester symptoms! I've woken up to heavy snow but realised we need to go food shopping... Maybe I can a snowman to take my mind off effing cramps instead!⛄️😂

catgamerlady · 28/12/2020 10:41

Hi everyone,
Got my bfp yesterday morning after a long time of trying! NHS website says I'm due on the 4th September. Can't believe it!
Congratulations to you all :)

Scaredycat101 · 28/12/2020 10:52

@catgamerlady Wow massive congrats on your BFP, especially after a long time trying!! 😀 Same date as me, too 🥰!

Scotti84 · 28/12/2020 11:07

Morning everyone,
@DiamondsInThe I’m having trouble getting off to sleep, I’m absolutely knackered through the day but more body tired as mental tired if that makes sense. I’m drifting off on the sofa but then when I go to bed I lay awake for ages!

Off shopping later too, going to stock up on healthier stuff. Bit more veg and healthy snacks, I have absolutely no desire for sweet stuff atm, which is a good thing.

Anyone got any tips on cutting caffeine? I usually drink two coffees and a tea or hot choc a day, ive been waiting til I get headache and then having a weak coffee which has been working til now but I’m finding it hard to find a nice caffeine free hot drink. I might have to resort to decaf

KitQ · 28/12/2020 11:12

@catgamerlady yay congratulations!!!

@Scotti84 I have been drinking decaf tea for a few years anyway but i recommend for pregnancy looking into how much caffeine is safe cause a little bit is still ok. Maybe have one small cup of coffee in the morning and then decaf the rest of the day then see how you go maybe you’re able to slowly wean yourself off it?

Fi2612 · 28/12/2020 11:22

Hello everyone, I’m new here!

I’ve just found out I’m pregnant at 3+5, so the due date is 8th Sept.

I’ve been feeling so rubbish the past week, constant nausea, really tired, I had gone off coffee, chocolate and alcohol and I’ve has some stomach cramps. I actually thought it was stress until I took the test.

Has anyone else has these symptoms so early on and have any advise how to make the nausea and tiredness easier?

KitQ · 28/12/2020 11:34

Hi @Fi2612 I was seriously nauseous from 17th - 23rd December. I recommend dry biscuits like digestives first thing in the morning to settle stomach. Just have them with you all the time. Small meals when you can. Lots of people recommend ginger but I hate ginger so didn’t go for it. My nausea’s passed now so yours will too!

Scaredycat101 · 28/12/2020 11:37

@Scotti84 I'm having a normal coffee in the morning and switched to decaf tea (sob)! I'm used to spearmint tea or lemon/ginger so going to incorporate those every so often for a change. I have these Nescafé sachets which are great, think they're around 50g of caffeine out of 200g allowance and are a good replacement for coffee shop ones - ish!

wrensandrobins · 28/12/2020 13:28

Hi all, just got my BFP this morning- only 9dpo so doesn't feel real yet, but can't talk to anyone about it apart from my partner and he is very pragmatic, glad this thread is here! BBT is low and hasn't had a rise (other than normal luteal rise) so a bit anxious about that!

Ralala · 28/12/2020 14:01

Welcome newbies and congrats on the bfps!

Im feeling ok at the moment. I think I’m just under 5 weeks give or take. No bloat in the morning but serious bloat by the afternoon. I had this last time . Tired in the evenings but generally ok during the day.

I have managed to get some workouts in although it’s snowing today so won’t manage a long walk like I had hoped.

Anyone else’s house just filled with junk food? I have told DH we just need to get rid of it as I do not want to be starting this pregnancy by eating for the next month haha
