@MrsMcNtobe its okay. Its mainly because I have terrible anxiety about vaginal births but also two recent friends (both 'older' like me) had terrible vaginal births, both mums ended up in ICU and one of the babies died. Just can't risk that...

Might be slightly irrational but can't help it Sad

Bubbles1st · 21/01/2021 11:06

The older mums I know who has babies recently 3 in last 2 years all ended up with c sections, not sure if coincidence or really and older mum issue.

MrsMcNtobe · 21/01/2021 11:06

@Noodles4Me no I totally understand that, how awful! I have considered it purely because I suffer from anxiety and I get myself into a bit of a state with worry, pain etc so I’m wondering if a CS could be the ‘calmer’ option for me to bring the baby into the world

MrsF111 · 21/01/2021 11:14

Hi everyone! Just got my positive this morning Smile due date is 30th September. This will be my first baby, second pregnancy as I had a mmc last year. So excited to join the club!

FTEngineerM · 21/01/2021 11:28

@Noodles4Me deffo chat to the midwife at booking, they’re going to ask you 1000 different questions anyway so might aswell get everything discussed as soon as possible.

I haven’t had a cs so don’t have any advice, we almost did under general but ended up not having to phew, I read general anaesthetic affects baby (?) but it was an emergency so didn’t have time to think. DP assumed we’d go for one this time because it was quite traumatic last time, I’m not so sure, I haven’t put enough thought into it yet.

MamaPheebz · 21/01/2021 11:37

@Noodles4Me my friend had 2 traumatic vaginal births and they still didn’t let her opt for a csection so I wouldn’t count on being allowed one.
Look online for positive birth stories instead. I had a water birth with just gas and air with my first child and it was painful but great. I felt really in control. Looks at hypnobirthing breathing techniques on Youtube. They were my saviour!

I’m also on the sicky train with you all. It’s awful. I’ve got an appointment with my doctor this afternoon. Hoping for some tablets otherwise I think I’ll have to take some time off work.

InTheLibrary · 21/01/2021 11:59

I took another test this morning as my lines last week were faint (although digital said 1-2 weeks), dark and bold and most definitely there today!
My boss has asked for a chat about me being ‘potentially overworked or overwhelmed’. Wish I could just tell them why!

MamaPheebz · 21/01/2021 13:21

@InTheLibrary aww that’s great. You must have just ovulated later than you though. Oh god these first few weeks are exhausting and emotional. I dread to think what my colleagues think about me lol.

MrsF111 · 21/01/2021 13:38

Are people still able to join the fb group? I think maybe it’s been hidden so it’s extra private but would love to join, sneaking into the September group with a 30th Sept baby!

Equimum · 21/01/2021 14:40

I think the option of C-sections really varies depending on where you live and who you see. I had some complications having DS1, and was referred to the birth options clinic while pregnant with DS2. The doctor started my appointment by saying that if wanted a CS she would agree to it, but equally she would help me develop a plan of action if I wanted to try vaginal. Her only request was that I agreed to give birth in hospital as I had bled excessively the first time.

FWIW, two on my friends had babies into heir early 40s. Both had positive birth experiences and one of those was a VBAC, three years after the CS.

I am not sure what I’ll do this time. I am anxious as I am qui tree a bit older, and I think I am more scared of an induction than a CS.

Do look up positive birthing stories, though, and for anyone who is anxious, maybe look into Hypnobirthing. I know some of it can seem a bit hippy-dippy, but I found some of the breathing and exercises really helpful.

Gadea · 21/01/2021 16:04

@Equimum please can I ask why it makes you more nervous about an induction?

FTEngineerM · 21/01/2021 16:44

@Equimum I agree!

@Gadea I didn’t understand the induction process before DC1 but during DC1s birth i ended up on the hormone drip (which is used as a final thing in induction I brlieve) to complete dilation, then I stopped the epidural to ‘feel the contractions to push’ holy mother of hell. They were NOT like the contractions I’d felt earlier naturally, even in active labour. I certainly wouldn’t have that without epidural in future.

Sophiederuges · 21/01/2021 17:12

Hi everyone!

Loved reading through the thread and happy I found it! I have recently found out I'm expecting my 2nd. I'd love to tentatively join you? I'm due September 22nd according to the NHS calculator. All my early pregnancy symptoms have disappeared apart from the occasional twinge around my uterus and occasional sore boobs so of course I worry It is so early I'm struggling to rejoice but I'm hoping joining this thread will help I'm 5w1d today.

Equimum · 21/01/2021 17:23

Gadea I think it’s because tearing and interventions are more likely, and having had a serious 3rd degree year first time round, I hate the idea of being ‘more at risk’, if that makes sense. I also know a few people who have had bad experiences (although others have been fine).

Gadea · 21/01/2021 18:55

@FTEngineerM @Equimum thank you, I had no idea!

Babynum1 · 21/01/2021 19:32

Hi all, newbie here! My partner and I found out last week we are expecting our first baby after a year and a half of trying. Received a letter for our first scan last night for March the 12th and we are SO excited Grin

LittleAurora · 21/01/2021 21:15

5 weeks and I'm bloated out!! Ahhh this is crazy

September 2021!
Ftm1921 · 21/01/2021 21:28

@LittleAurora I'm the same! I'm so bloated I look about 4 months already! Does this go away? I feel like I'm going to have a bump sooner than expected because of it

Equimum · 22/01/2021 09:08

Congrats babynum1

Gadea, don’t be too scared by it, though. I do know people who have had positive experiences. My friend had such a fast labour after induction that her DP missed the arrival - he had literally popped away for an hour to say good-night to their daughter! She had no complications and was home next morning!

I would definitely recommend being loosely aware of benefits and risks of each type of delivery, but focus on the positive stories you can find. There will always been horrific stories for each, but remember, people are far less likely to publish and frequently discuss good stories (I talk far more about my tricky delivery with DS1 than the easier one with DS2).

llemma · 22/01/2021 09:18

@mrsf111, I've sent you a pm about Facebook group. If anyone else wants to join but a wee comment on the thread somewhere and somebody will get you added

LittleAurora · 22/01/2021 09:35

@ftm1921 I hope it does! I'm furloughed but I don't want to tell my boss for a while lol

88pixie · 22/01/2021 10:04

@llemma Hi is it possible to get a link to the FB group please 👍 thank you x

Hopefulmummie · 22/01/2021 10:37

Morning everyone. I'm 5+3 and the only symptoms I've had are sore boobs are tiredness. The past 2 days they've disappeared and I'm worried. Has anyone else had minimal symptoms at this stage?
I can't help but stress because of my previous miscarriage and ectopic

Scotti84 · 22/01/2021 11:02

Hi all, just an update for those of you who have been suffering badly like me, I’ve been much better the last two days, didn’t want to write yesterday incase it was a fluke, but either this eating little bits every couple of hours has given the peanut and my body the strength it needs to get more on a level or hitting 8+2 is some magic stage where things level off. I know it’s different for us all but hopefully it will level out for some of you too. I’m still feeling nauseaus and sleeping about 12-14 hours a day like, but that I can deal with x
