Is around who's due in April 2021? How are you feeling?

I was in a thread on here in early pregnancy, dropped off when I joined the buddies Facebook group, I'm still in it but its not really for me.... I miss having a place to go to chat pregnancy though.

Hi! Would love to join you ladies if that’s ok? I’m 26 weeks today with first pregnancy and due on 26 April. Like one or two others I was on a thread like this early on then switched to FB. But there something about the MN forum experience that I miss! x

MsHedgehog · 18/01/2021 10:41

@LuckyFlash It was a routine blood test. Although that's when they tested my risk of GD, so I had to eat certain things for breakfast an hour before my appointment, so I'm not sure if that's what the bloods were for.... Either way it was routine. It's the second time I saw the midwife and first time she took bloods.

That's funny, because I feel like my bump is huge! But I was exactly where I need to be.

That is one of the things that upsets me about being pregnant during Covid - no one gets to see my bump!

MsHedgehog · 18/01/2021 10:42

Hi @Natty47!

BaaHumbugg · 18/01/2021 11:48

Hi @Natty47!

I have my 28 week appt next week, I'm looking forward to leaving the house for something other than the shop or the park Grin

Natty47 · 18/01/2021 12:37

@BaaHumbugg lol me too - hospital appointments are probably the most exciting part of my ‘social life’!

BabyB22021 · 18/01/2021 14:37

Hi all, long time lurker and first time poster! Due April 7th with 2nd baby. Having a bit of a flap this week. I was told at my booking in appointment that I would be tested for gestational diabetes due to family history and my first baby being big. I had this test in my first pregnancy. I called up today as hadn't heard anything to be told no, I don't need it as baby was big but not over 4.5kg and family member with diabetes (father) was not relevant. I also asked if I was meant to have a 28week appointment to be told I was. I was booked in for bloods end of next week but she told me that site Was now being used as a vaccination centre. She said that appointment was "probably" my 28week appointment...so she's moved it all to the same day next week as my growth scan. So I'll be inbetween 29-30 weeks so guessing I won't be getting a 31 week appointment! Aaaah!

Ttwinksy · 18/01/2021 16:26

@babyb22021
Thats terrible they forgot your 28 week appt! Have to say reading others people's messages about appts think I've been really lucky...my booking appt was over the phone but everything else has been like clockwork in person. At every appt they schedule in the next one, so I've had them all when I should have done.
Re GD I think they routinely look for markers in urine at every appointment, so hopefully any warning signs would get flagged up quickly anyway.

How's everyone feeling this week? I've (touch wood) been sleeping a bit better recently. Though the flip side is the reason for it being total physical exhaustion Hmm. Still, I'd rather be physically knackered and sleeping than not sleeping at all!

MsHedgehog · 18/01/2021 16:32

@Ttwinksy I've been struggling with sleep for the past few days so starting to feel exhausted! For me, it's the hip pain, so I get about about 3-4 hours solid sleep and then I keep tossing and turning because my hips hurt, and by the time it's morning it's agony. It fades really quickly in the mornings, but it is starting to wear me down!

I have my pregnancy pillow and two other pillows I use, and whilst I'm worse without them, I'm still struggling!

Sad
BaaHumbugg · 18/01/2021 16:39

I'm lucky my sleep is ok at the moment, I think it's the memory foam matress I am literally sinking into it Grin apart from waking up for my old faithful friend gav aka Gaviscon at 3am without fail.

I feel so uncomfortable and heavy and I'm not even that big to be honest, wish the swimming pool was open so I could go and take the weight off while pretending to exercise!

Mimba1 · 18/01/2021 16:42

@BabyB22021 my MW calculated the dates wrong over Christmas and I didn't realise so ended up having my 28 wk appt at 29+1. Instead of 31 weeks I'm having the next one at 32 and then will be back on normal schedule at 34wks. I've also found they're OK if you just ask for an appointment as well - I was really struggling with anxiety in 2nd trimester and asked if I could have an 18wk appt to fill the gap between 16wk and 20wk scan and they were fine with it.

First time having my bump measured and it was between 90th and 95th centile... MW said no need to worry but I can't help wondering if that means I'm going to have a more difficult birth or if there's something wrong... I suppose someone's baby has to be in the biggest 10%! Anyone else had this?

Mimba1 · 18/01/2021 16:44

@BaaHumbugg I'm also fine sleeping and also have memory foam. I don't even have a pregnancy pillow - the foam seems to support the bump nicely. Long may it last! Only down side is that there's no bounce when you try to stand up. Think I'm going to need some kind of pulley system installed soon!

Ickli · 18/01/2021 17:19

I'm also feeling fortunate about my midwife appointments. All in person apart from half of my booking one.

I haven't had my 28w one yet, but my midwife said it'd involve urine test, blood pressure check, listening in to baby's heart, measuring the bump and a blood test - so the same as a previous poster. She mentioned the blood test is to partly check on iron levels as apparently you can become low on iron around that stage.

I'm only 26w but already feel heavy and slow. Despite still doing yoga, I'm noticing my flexibility for routine things has decreased. Bending down and getting out of chairs takes effort! I can't imagine how I'll feel at 40+ w Shock

My sleep is still very disturbed (painful hips and just generally waking up loads) but my body seems to be a bit more used to it now. I do feel like I'm a bit more forgetful than normal.

Harrimara · 18/01/2021 17:35

Hi all, I'm a bit late joining this group because I feel like I've only just got my head round to the fact I'm due in 11 weeks 2 days, which is not long eeeek! Due date 7th April.
I don't feel very organised, I'm trying to find a local antenatal class but struggling, I've just moved to the area so feel very isolated and hope this would help meet some local mums.

MsHedgehog · 18/01/2021 17:58

@Harrimara Hi! I'm due on 7 April too! Although I'm due to have a c-section so will likely be in the week beforehand!

We've done an antenatal class through the hospital, which was very helpful, but not really good for meeting other mums. We also have NCT coming up next months. All of these classes are virtual.

UnicornAndSparkles · 18/01/2021 18:04

@Mimba1 I wouldn't pay much attention to the tape measure tbh. I measured big for my first baby, to the point that I had a growth scan and they estimated a 9-10lb girl. She arrived at under 7lb! Turns out it was all water, despite no GD concerns. My waters broke like you see in films, absolutely gushing everywhere, and bump was half the size after that! I cant see how a tape measure can be very accurate tbh.

Mimba1 · 18/01/2021 18:10

@UnicornAndSparkles thanks for the reassurance! It's so hard to know. DH almost seemed proud when I told him and I was just thinking "how is it going to get out?!?!"

GreySkyClouds · 18/01/2021 18:46

@LuckyFlash

Has anyone had their 28 week appointment yet? I have mine this week and I’m wondering what to expect. Other than 2 scans all my appointments so far have been over the phone (and were completely pointless) so this will be my first time seeing the midwife
Same experience here. Completely useless chatting on the phone.

I have my 28 week appointment face to face next week.

My GD test was last week so hopefully no bloods as have small veins.

BabyB22021 · 18/01/2021 19:01

Thank you, hopefully I'll be able to catch up appointments. I'll need to remember to write down what I'm going to ask as otherwise I won't! Luckily I've got a 4D scan booked for this weekend privately so at least the baby will be checked over thoroughly, and the lady that does the scan is lovely so I know I'm in good hands. I just felt a bit abandoned especially as at my 20 week scan the sonographer said that baby was measuring on the higher end of normal, and having had a previous big baby it's made me more anxious.

Harrimara · 18/01/2021 19:47

@MsHedgehog Ahh that’s lovely we have the same due date. Do you know what your having? We are having a girl ☺️
I think I’ve found a class but it’s a bit further away than I wanted and anything close is booked up! I’m at the hospital tomorrow so will ask about classes 🤞🏽

Birnam · 18/01/2021 20:44

I had my 28wk appointment last week. I'm due 2nd April! Everything seemed fine, baby is measuring 50th centile so far. But I've just looked at the notes in my app from my appointment and it says I've got a high white blood cell count and it's being medically reviewed. They haven't phoned me about it or anything and I don't know what that would mean?! Eugh!

Birnam · 18/01/2021 20:47

I forgot to add - the 28wk appointment consisted of me bringing them a urine sample, them doing a blood test, blood pressure, measuring the bump with a tape measure and listening to the babies heartbeat and that was all really.

BoJingle · 18/01/2021 21:08

My 28 week appointment was supposed to be today but I had to cancel it for a hospital appointment instead. I was diagnosed with GD last week 😑

@Mimba1 my DD was born on 99th centile 🤭

Welcome to the new joiners Smile

Sorry to hear about the GD @bojingles Sad

Hope everyone is doing ok today! I am beyond exhausted!

UnicornAndSparkles · 21/01/2021 13:49

Also exhausted! Mentally with everything that's going on with covid, and physically. I think I've got mild SPD as I'm having difficulty walking come late afternoon/evening, and feeling so heavy. I cant remember feeling so worn out in my first pregnancy! Working and parenting my 3yo whilst preschool is closed isn't helping the exhaustion. Creme eggs are.

Sorry to hear of the GD @BoJingle :( did you have any symptoms? How are you handling it?

Catlady21 · 23/01/2021 13:28

Hi, I'm due 7th April with #3, although I've never yet gone to due date. I have GD, diet controlled so far. I had it with my previous two as well.

Hope everyone is doing well.
