@lucieloos they’re hoping to be in person but we’ll see where we are with covid come April/May. Nice to hear that you’re still on touch with the people you met first time round Smile

TerryRose · 15/01/2021 20:45

@Humpty11 thank you , that's a very good point , I am able to keep away from the public bar doing the weekly shop so I think I'll continue on and see how it goes. It just feels too soon really to make the decision.

Lovethatjourneyforme · 15/01/2021 22:16

@TerryRose I personally wouldn't have it. Absolutely would do if I wasn't pregnant but even before it was recommended that pregnant women didn't have it, I'd already decided I'd wait until after I'd given birth. Tbh it also wouldn't really apply to me, because by the time my turn comes around (no risk factors) I will have given birth already anyway.

Waitingforbabypage · 15/01/2021 22:18

@Firsttimeconcerns I had mine last Friday, I was 18+5

Humpty11 · 16/01/2021 07:27

@TerryRose just make sure you continue to do everything to keep your risk low. And as @Lovethatjourneyforme has said if you’re not in healthcare(/ education hopefully) or any of the at risk groups then by the time it’s offered you’ll have definitely given birth anyway. It’s definitely a worry but it sounds like you don’t have much contact anyway so you should be okay 🤞🏼

AlRRRR · 16/01/2021 07:48

Mine said same, not to have it

PinkPlantCase · 16/01/2021 10:31

@TerryRose I’m CV (but not ECV) and I’m going to wait until baby is born. I work from home, midwife appointments are at my house and I into really go out for a walk so pretty low risk.

I’ll probably have it when I’m still breastfeeding, especially if by then the governments strategy is just ‘let all the young people get ill because it’ll only be like a cold’

Mackie2020 · 16/01/2021 10:49

@Fightingtobepositive I'm sorry for the delay - I've been struggling a bit since returning to work after Christmas! I'm doing pretty well but have struggled quite badly with groin pain this week. Anyone have any advice for that? Walking can be quite uncomfortable.

I had my 20 week scan last week and all's looking well. We didn't find out the sex as we want it to be a surprise. How are you getting on @Fightingtobepositive ?

Fightingtobepositive · 16/01/2021 11:30

Hi all

My midwife has mentioned the whooping cough and can’t remember when she said to get it. I’ll ask Monday

I’m to nervous to have the vaccine just yet but also torn as I work in a school. But don’t want to add any extra risk right now. So 🤷🏻‍♀️ It hasn’t really been mentioned amongst pregnant women here yet.

@Mackie2020 hello oh no, are you finding it tiring? Or is it the worry of everything going on?
I had some real intense groin pain last week, I’ve felt it on and off all the way through really, walking can get uncomfortable more often than not but unless i feel like I need to rest I try and get through it because I often feel better after moving. But resting also helps if you feel you need it. I’m not on my feet at all through the day at the moment so walking feels important to me.

So glad it went well ☺️ Oo a nice little surprise. Lovely. Our scan is Monday🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞 I’m so anxious over it but nothing new there really!

TerryRose · 16/01/2021 13:00

@Humpty11 @Lovethatjourneyforme exactly I say I'd be the same even if I wanted to take it I'd be at bottom of list and there's delays here with rollout , my doctor is advising I go to an outpatient clinic that midwives run for some of my appointments so I can avoid the hospital and yeah I live in the country and don't have to meet any people so I think if I continue like this should be ok , thanks for your advice 🙂

Tatty1987 · 16/01/2021 18:14

Hello all, a bit off topic but I posted the other day about our virtual John Lewis baby stuff appointment and we had it this afternoon. It was so worthwhile and informative, I’m so glad we did it! Pretty much chosen pram and car seat now! Thinking Bugaboo Fox and Maxi Cosi Marble a baby can lay near enough flat in the car. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

They are also doing an online baby even on weekend 13/14th Feb which you can sign up to for £5. There’s all sorts of classes inc eating well in pregnancy, product demonstrations etc. Worth a look!

Sorry I sound like I’m on commission haha but they’re fun to do on weekends in lockdown, even my partner enjoyed!

Tatty1987 · 16/01/2021 18:14

Event*

Waitingforbabypage · 16/01/2021 20:02

@Tatty1987 ah nice one! Glad it was worth your while.

Grabbed myself an absolute bargain today, Moses basket and stand for £30 from aldi of all places!
Also a few cellular blankets, some dribble bibs and a huge box of wipes.
X

BlondePotter · 16/01/2021 21:11

@Firsttimeconcerns my whooping cough will be at my 20 week scan on Monday as they're trying to minimise appointments

BlondePotter · 16/01/2021 21:37

@Tatty1987 thank you! Sounds good, bugaboo fox is on our shortlist, might have to book an appt to discuss though as I still get confused

Tatty1987 · 16/01/2021 22:49

@BlondePotter I honestly would coz we also liked a silver cross but after she went through the pros and cons for where we live and what we do at weekends etc we thought the fox was best suited to us. We were on an hr and 20mins and only went though prams and car seat so we learnt a lot as this is our first. Also, at their baby event in February they have a zoom call with Bugaboo who will go through products, so we’re signed up to that too.

@Waitingforbabypage that was a bargain. We nearly bought a baby monitor from there the other day! Must have a baby event on.

PinkPlantCase · 17/01/2021 12:00

@Tatty1987 glad to hear it was worthwhile!!

I booked one for just over a weeks time. I have a disability that impacts my upper body strength so I’ve been been quite worried about baby travel related things. I quite like that we can write down our needs in their additional info box and someone else can do the legwork Grin

LemonRizzle · 17/01/2021 15:21

@Firsttimeconcerns my midwife said if I wasn't offered the whooping cough vaccine at the 20 week scan to just book an appointment at the surgery, the lady was working when I had my scan so got jabbed at the same time.
@TerryRose similar to what humpty said, I'm front line NHS and also trained as a covid vaccinator. Discussed it with a doctor where I work and my midwife too, all suggest (including the official training documents) to only recommend the vaccine if a pregnant woman can't avoid working in a covid risk environment AND has an underlying health condition putting her more at risk. However, it is ultimately her choice to weigh up the pros and cons, they just strongly emphasise the vaccine has no safety data in pregnancy to back it up so you accept the risks when making that decision. I have no underlying conditions and after seeing a covid positive patient on a home visit 5 days ago (accident, was supposed to be a social/welfare visit but he was very poorly) I've decided to stop seeing patients face to face. Covid is particularly rife in our area at the minute and I no longer feel safe so have removed myself.

Ladies... buggies! After extensive online research I thought the Joie Versatrax was cost effective and practical but I'm a little in love with the Mamas and Papas Ocarro, I can't find a bad review, due to lockdown it's looking likely to be an online purchase... anyone ever actually tried the Ocarro or have any reviews? X

Opticabbage · 17/01/2021 15:28

Bit late to the convo but when I got my flu jab the nurse said that whilst whooping cough is from 16weeks nowadays, she prefers to wait until people have had their 20 week scans so that parents don't blame any problems found with little one on having opted to have the jab. She seemed quite candid at the time.

swiftt · 17/01/2021 15:52

@LemonRizzle ooh I was torn between the Versatrax and Ocarro too! Well, I actually fell in love with the Nuna Mixx but it was a little out of my price range. I got an absolute bargain on a second hand one though! The only slightly negative thing I’ve heard about the Ocarro is the weight, but I don’t think that’s a major factor unless you’ll be using public transport regularly.

For anyone experiencing pelvic or groin pain. (@Fishingforhapiness)
Speak to your midwives about it and they should refer you to physio. Who will have recommendations for you. Definitely try sleeping with a pillow between your legs when sleeping on your side and avoid sitting with your legs crossed. My pain with the last pregnancy (that’s starting to rear it’s ugly was around my coccyx. If found a coccyx cushion really helpful.
There’s a bit more about pelvic girdle pain here
www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/related-conditions/common-symptoms/pelvic-pain/

I’ve had loads of cravings, right now I can’t get enough of egg Mayo sandwiches and cherry juice. Random

What’s everyone’s caffeine in take been like?

MimiDaisy11 · 17/01/2021 20:14

What’s everyone’s caffeine intake been like?

I'm quite bad for absentmindedly drinking lots of tea so I switched to decaff as I was scared I'd go over the limit without thinking. That's one thing I miss, more than alcohol.

TerryRose · 17/01/2021 20:20

@MimiDaisy11 it's funny I was never a tea or coffee drinker really but now
I find myself wanting a cup each day but I try not to , my hardest hurdle is Coca Cola, just with the amount of caffeine and sugar in it

LemonRizzle · 17/01/2021 21:41

@swiftt ok I caved and bought the Ocarro!! Eek!! Found a cracking deal so just committed. I guess I'll test it when it arrives Grin

swiftt · 17/01/2021 22:06

@LemonRizzle oh how exciting! I didn’t do any test drives before I bought mine either, I’m sure it’ll be fine!
