@LBee2020 that’s good to know, helps manage my expectations! I’m the eldest of my siblings and was nearly 2 weeks late...hope I don’t get one like me!

Fightingtobepositive · 11/01/2021 17:35

@lucieloos well I rang my midwife who I obviously couldn’t get hold of. But got hold of another. She was lovely and popped in to listen for the heartbeat. First time for me to hear it so that was a welcome surprise. 🙏☺️

maloney123 · 11/01/2021 18:35

I am almost 20 weeks and think I felt my first kick today! Have had the bubbly kind of feeling for a few weeks but I was stretching this morning and felt a definite jab on the left side of my tummy! Just want it to happen again now!

AlRRRR · 11/01/2021 19:22

@lucieloos Yes, same with me. Ditching all the western advice of own, bed, own room and going with my instincts and following what mothers do all over the world and keeping baby near and my sanity!

TerryRose · 11/01/2021 21:04

thanks for your messages , got the all clear with the Harmony test results and it's 100% a girl
🥰

TerryRose · 11/01/2021 21:04

@maloney123 that is so exciting!!

Waitingforbabypage · 11/01/2021 22:57

@TerryRose excellent news! Congratulations on your pink bump! X

Snally82 · 12/01/2021 07:51

@TerryRose great news!!

Sweetmad · 12/01/2021 08:10

Had a private scan last night as I couldn’t wait for the gender any longer and we’ve found out we’re team blue 💙. They did a bit of look over well being also and baby looks great! It’s all feeling a bit more real now!

Emmie12 · 12/01/2021 08:31

@TerryRose @Sweetmad Congratulations both! I have a private scan booked next week. One of my friends swears she's able to tell the gender from the nub theory on the 12 week scan and thinks it is a girl, but we shall see!

I had my 16 week appointment yesterday, finally met my resident midwife, and got to hear the heart beat. So feeling much better!

Does anyone have any good book recommendations for when the baby is here - that's the bit i feel I'm most clueless on!!!

fluffybunny86 · 12/01/2021 09:15

Morning everyone, how are you all feeling?

Had our 20 week scan yesterday after a very anxious 16 weeks due to previous history. Baby all looks great and measuring perfectly for dates. Only above average measurement was a long femur length but as DH is tall it is not unexpected.Over the moon to find also find out that we are expecting a little boy, although this didn't matter to us at all just a healthy baby. Just wanted to let people who guessed from our 12 week scan that they were right saying boy ;). Little boy is due 29th May.

Hoping for the best for everyone waiting for their 20 week scans

Tuey91 · 12/01/2021 09:59

Congratulations on all finding out what you are expecting ❤️💙. I'm having an early 16 week scan tomorrow incase other half won't be aloud for the 20 week scan due to lockdown. Will be finding out the gender if anyone wants to guess from my 12 week scan for fun, here it is. Will let you know tomorrow. We are saying boy from the scan x

Tatty1987 · 12/01/2021 10:00

Congrats on everyone finding out the gender 💙💗 amazing news! I’ve got nearly 4 weeks to wait yet.

Just thought I’d let you know that John Lewis are doing virtual nursery appointments to discuss baby buys. This is our first baby and not sure what the meeting will be but we have one booked for Saturday Smile it’ll be nice as we can’t go to a shop and possibly for a long time yet.

PinkPlantCase · 12/01/2021 10:30

@Tatty1987 looking forwards to hearing about how your JL appointment goes. I did see it on their website and we have some gift cards to spend with them!

Congrats to everyone who’s had an update about baby Grin my 20 scan is next week.

I’ve been in touch with some nurseries about a baby room place for Jan 2022, had lots of different responses. Some are doing virtual appointments and tours which I really hope is someone walking round with an iPhone, others are registering our interest but asking us to delay visiting and one asked us to go round.

I was a bit shocked at the one that said just come round for a look. I think we’ll wait until this lockdown is over, I just wanted to make sure they had spaces which they do!

BlondePotter · 12/01/2021 13:32

@Tatty1987 that's good to know, I think we will do that as I find the whole pram/car seat bundles really confusing! Please report back on how it is

AlRRRR · 12/01/2021 13:54

Is anyone else feeling a little more out of breathe than usual when out walking / doing household chores?

I’m 17 weeks and been feeling a bit more out of puff than usual. I try to walk every day for 1 hr to 1.1/2 with my 3 year old

Sweetmad · 12/01/2021 14:04

@AIRRRR yes definitely! I was opening our big gates in our garden earlier and was out of breath just from doing that. Also struggling with long walks and hoovering as I get out of breath quickly

Edelweiss2020 · 12/01/2021 14:13

Felt my first few proper kicks today at 19 weeks 🥰 Been kinda doubting for the last week or two if the fluttery feeling was baby or not, but these definitely were!

Also getting a tiny proper bump now, it’s taking it’s time but finally starting to feel more real now. Excited to see baby again at our scan next week, just crossing everything that my husband can actually come still 🤞

Snally82 · 12/01/2021 14:14

I’m so out of breathe!! I was reading out loud to my partners little girl the other night and even that was a struggle!!!

PinkPlantCase · 12/01/2021 14:20

@AIRRRR I struggle with my breathing anyway and at 18 weeks I thought I might of had COVID because of how my breathing had changed. Negative for covid so must have just been a pregnancy thing instead! Glad to hear other people are noticing breathing changing a too.

At 19 weeks I now very definitely have my appetite back which has been lovely Grin

AlRRRR · 12/01/2021 14:40

Oh Phew, I was starting to think I needed a Covid test! Chest feels bit tight too at times
but that could be anxiety over thinking it 🙄

I’m trying to be fitter so walking daily and luckily my 3 yr old loves to walk so trying to keep it up

Firsttimeconcerns · 12/01/2021 17:00

Hi all,

I am 16 weeks and over the last couple of days I have experienced this feeling which is really hard to describe. I wouldn't be able to point to it externally. It feels like the top of my uterus possibly. It's not painful but noticeable. It's a sharp feeling that has been on and off throughout the day. Almost like a sharp contraction but at the top. Confused

Not sure if that is recognisable to anyone?

I haven't contacted anyone as it's not painful and I put it down to growing and possible ligaments. However, the Internet says that's mostly felt at the sides of your stomach and this is up inside.

Just after a little reassurance that people have felt similar!!

AlRRRR · 13/01/2021 09:12

@Firsttimeconcerns I think you can get these weird ass pains all over!
Yday I got up too fast and whole area started cramping up, like when you've over done exercise. I laid down and it subsided!

I get strange pulling sensations all over at times and sitting down and resting seems to soothe it !

Jinglebells87 · 13/01/2021 14:49

Just had my 20 week scan. Everything looks as is should and we found out we are having another little boy!! Very excited to start buying him some clothes now!
Hope everyone else is doing ok! Smile

Snally82 · 13/01/2021 15:00

@Jinglebells87 great news!
