I guess it must vary by location. My booking appointment is at 8 weeks and in person.

georgiaerin · 15/12/2020 19:11

@KatieLianne93 mine is over the phone couldn't believe it.
Totally different 5 years ago x

BertieBotts · 15/12/2020 19:19

It's normal to have a booking in anywhere up to 10 weeks, I don't know why they start monitoring so late in the UK. You only get seen earlier if you have history of miscarriage. But it could be worth flagging the thyroid issue and asking if there's anything specific you should be doing.

biscuitcat · 15/12/2020 19:31

Mine is at 9 and a half weeks or so, but in person - I thought it would be over the phone because of covid. It does seem late to get started - I'm pleased to have a private scan to break up the wait

goalpostmover · 15/12/2020 19:33

@KatieLianne93 have you spoken to your GP? During my last pregnancy they upped my medication and gave me regular blood tests there to monitor my thyroid rather than the midwife.

Assuming your services are separate like mine that is.

MeganChar1 · 15/12/2020 19:46

Had private scan today, thought I was about 7 weeks based on last period but I’m only about 5 and they couldn’t see much other than sac and yolk etc, so having re-scan in 2 weeks. I’m not overly worried because I had 2 false negatives when I missed my period a few weeks ago. I’d also just come off the pill so my cycle will have been all over. My partner now wants to wait until after the second scan to tell his family, but we are spending Xmas day with them and I’m worried they will suspect something anyway. I’m going to the toilet a lot and obviously won’t be drinking. I’m aware that sickness might kick in too so don’t want that in the mix either. How are other people approaching spending Xmas with family members who don’t know? My plan is to be designated driver and that’s currently my only get out excuse from drinking ha x

georgiaerin · 15/12/2020 19:48

@MeganChar1 I haven't got sickness yet and I'm nearly 8 weeks drinking wise just say you're driving? :) they shouldn't suspect anything unless told otherwise! My mum wouldn't of ever guessed last time or this time x

littleeggcup · 16/12/2020 09:23

Hello, just placing a marker... if my hcg doubles today I'll join you ladies!

Previous ectopic in September with right tube removal.

Going for bloods at 12.30 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

buckingmad · 16/12/2020 09:37

So jealous of people with no or little sickness. I have felt so so sick for about 2 weeks now and it’s draining. I’m so hungry and normally I’m such a foodie but everything makes me want to be sick. So far the only thing I can eat without gagging are ready salted crisps and olives.

Mum said she felt more sick with my sister and me compared to with my brothers so maybe this is an early sign!

Alittlexmasmagic · 16/12/2020 10:31

@KatieLianne93 I was diagnosed sub-clinical recently. I need to speak to see what they say but following with interest x

Hi everyone,

I've noticed there are at least three threads for August 21 due dates. I've started a new one with the aim of getting everyone together. It may work, it may not but worth a try xx

I'm starting to get so anxious as we approach my MC date :( just 2 days to go and I was spotting then which I'm not now. But it's so stressful. Only have to wait until Monday for the scan. I'm going to be a wreck though!

NotMeekNotObedient · 16/12/2020 12:21

Hi All!

Can I join in please?

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and due on 16th August with my first. This is my first pregnancy and caught really quickly - wasn't planning to start ttc until December cycle but I'd had my coil out a little early and forgot to use a condom one morning! Blush Very happy and lucky but still in shock!

@katieLianne993 I had Graves disease treated with radioactive iodine. Once I had a positive test I did an e-consult with my GP and asked for a thyroid blood test and a refferal to the endocrinologist. I'm waiting to hear back about what dose of Levothyroxine I need but it was put though as urgent so hopefully soon! I had a look at thyroid UK which offer suggtions for dosage in pregnancy and have followed their reccomendations for now.

I've filled in my refferal form for the booking appointment but not heard back yet. I suspect this will be over the phone but expect to be sent for more blood tests - don't they have to do some general standard screening fairly early on?

Can partners go to the first scan yet? Tempted to book one early so DH can come if he won't be able to attend the NHS one. But want to wait until at least 8 weeks just so there is something to really see!

Have been feeling a bit sick for weeks but not much so happy right now. I am tired too.

Planning to tell my Dad and DH's parents at Xmas - it's very early days but will be hard to hide not drinking and appreciate their support. But keeping very quiet otherwise for now - hoping to hold out on work until the 15 weeks before. Until then I have to get though virtual cocktail making at team Xmas Zoom - how? 😂

AlisonWhite · 16/12/2020 19:59
