Hi everyone :)

I'm 3+5 and due on 16th August. Literally only found out yesterday! Still feeling quite overwhelmed and it hasn't really sunk in.

This pregnancy was planned but this was literally our first month trying (only DTD once because a surprise late ovulation snuck up on us!!). So I think I'm just in shock that it's happened so quickly.

Did anyone else have these types of feelings?! I'm over the moon to be able to say I'm pregnant. But I'm also terrified it's not real and I'm getting excited over nothing.

Doesn't help that I'm feeling nauseous already. I know it's unlikely so early, but I'm a nauseous person anyway as I suffer from acid reflux.

katiemc89 · 05/12/2020 18:12

Hi everyone, may I join? I found out yesterday that we are expecting again after a missed miscarriage in summer. I feel very hesitant, with the way our last pregnancy ended we are both feeling a little strange about the whole thing. I am unable to tell my two best friends due to where they are at in their ttc journeys so maybe that’s weighing heavy on me too.

@LauraT94 I also found out yesterday and have the same due date as you based on LMP. Due date twins lol

Scuttlingherbert · 05/12/2020 18:29

Hi everyone.
I found out I'm pregnant today - due 18th August.

I'm really excited.

I had miscarriages in August and September this year. Was super-anxious when I got pregnant the second time but I feel positive this time.

We were supposed to be getting married today but it postponed because of lockdown. It's been great to find out I'm pregnant today instead.

Scooter89 · 05/12/2020 20:08

@Scuttlingherbert sorry for your losses. It’s really lovely that you are feeling positive this time. I have everything crossed for you

Smushty14 · 05/12/2020 23:05

Welcome welcome all and congrats!!! 🎉

@LauraT94 ahhhhh yaaaaaayyyy!!! So pleased for youuuu!!! Yep, I feel exactly the same!

Liloulou · 06/12/2020 16:45

So sorry to hear about previous losses @Scuttlingherbert and @katiemc89.

My OH's sister miscarried very recently, although we haven't experienced it ourselves previously, it has made us feel quite cautious.

LauraT94 · 07/12/2020 21:07

@Smushty14 heyyyyy! Aw thanks ❤️ I'm still terrified AF will come (due tomorrow) but my strongest positive so far on a cheapie tonight despite not holding for long so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Think I'll feel safer when I hit 5 weeks.

@katiemc89 hey due date and BFP date twin haha! How are you feeling?

How's everyone doing? Does anyone have early scans booked in?

buckingmad · 08/12/2020 20:28

@LauraT94 yes we have ours booked in for next weekend so I’ll be 8 weeks.

My back went today which could be the cold weather. Other than that feeling really sick, off food and so tired. And so so so so bloated! The bloating is the worst part for me so far.

Scooter89 · 08/12/2020 22:11

@LauraT94 I am feeling anxious, not going to lie. Other than that, not many symptoms apart from my appetite being all over the place. How about you? X

SweetpeaMcD · 08/12/2020 23:10

Hiya everyone - just found out I’m pregnant, first time for me and thinking it’s going to be 12th August from online calculator. Anyone else feeling a little overwhelmed with the news? I’m so happy but nervous to get too excited before I’ve spoken to a midwife, etc. Considering an early scan at 6 weeks does anyone have any experience of these? I don’t want to tell my family until I’ve had a bit of reassurance so thought this might help? X

WinterBabyof89 · 09/12/2020 06:26

Hello :)
Can I join please!? I got my BFP this morning and I’m due 21st August. I have an interesting pregnancy/labour history so if all goes well this baby will be delivered by section at the end of July/August.

Going through the weird emotions of having a positive test haha it’s a rollercoaster of emotions. I’ve never had nausea before so that’s an unwelcome side effect ha

Hope you ladies are all well and wishing us a happy/healthy 9months!

Scooter89 · 09/12/2020 07:14

@SweetpeaMcD I think the rollercoaster of emotions is normal with any pregnancy. I have had an early scan with my last pregnancy, it was during the height of covid and partners weren’t allowed in hospitals so I didn’t want my partner to miss out. I would suggest waiting until 7 weeks at least, if you have any discrepancies on dates and you go and don’t see anything you are going to freak out and have to wait a week (possibly longer) for another scan. I am going to do another early scan this time around as well. Just waiting closer to the time to book it. X

LauraT94 · 09/12/2020 07:38

@buckingmad aww that's so exciting! You'll have to share with us how it goes! All symptoms sound totally normal and I really feel you on the bloating! Hope it goes down soon for you 🤞🏻

@Scooter89 much the same for me! Anxious definitely. Feeling slightly better now I've passed the date my AF was due, but still keep waking up in a panic thinking I'm bleeding. Starting to get excited to tell my bestie and then my siblings at Christmas too!

@SweetpeaMcD hi! Congratulations ❤️ I was completely overwhelmed when I got my BFP on Friday! We didn't expect to get pregnant so quickly so it was a lovely surprise but also quite a shock! Me and OH probably spent the whole weekend in shock to be honest. I'm booked in for a 6 week scan on the 22nd December. I'll be 6+1 so I'm hoping we might get to see a heartbeat. This is my first pregnancy so I can't say I've experienced any of this before, but I do believe early scans are done trans-vaginally.

@WinterBabyof89 congratulations! As I said above I definitely was in shock/experiencing the roller coaster of emotions too! It'll settle down in the next few days. If it helps, I also felt nauseous at the weekend after getting my BFP but looking back I think it was more to do with the shock than ms. I'm not feeling it much at all now!

If you feel up to sharing your history of Pg/labour, I'd love to hear x

WinterBabyof89 · 09/12/2020 07:51

@SweetpeaMcD I agree with @Scooter89 with waiting until the 7 week mark as it causes more stress and worry if they can’t see the embryo/heartbeat so best to hold out a tad longer if possible.

Thanks @LauraT94! It def could be shock induced as usually doesn’t start until 6 weeks according to google haha I’ve never had morning sickness so hoping this fades :)

Absolutely :) I usually do pregnancy well but fall at the last hurdle of labour. This is my fourth pregnancy. My DS is 10 and was a vaginal breech delivery (not planned), my DD would have been 6 - my placenta came away whilst in labour at 40+5 and she sadly died two days later, and my youngest DS made his arrival 5 weeks early! So the worry will not end for me until I have a baby in my arms but you’ve got to focus on the positives and groups like this are super helpful. The pregnancy group I was a part of for my DD are still in contact which is lovely.
Xx

Scooter89 · 09/12/2020 09:23

@WinterBabyof89 heartbreaking to hear about your DD. It must have been such a shock and an awful time for you all. You are one strong lady. I hope this time you get a smooth labour and a happy healthy little one to cuddle at the end of it. X

BertieBotts · 09/12/2020 10:00

Hello :) Would love a lovely MN thread to chat on. I joined the other one but they all seem to have decamped to FB/whatsapp.

Will be DC3 for me all going well but is my 5th pregnancy - DH has a genetic issue which means we have more miscarriages than most people. We tend to lose them at 5/6 weeks so I just have a couple of weeks to get through, fingers crossed.

Have to run and get DS2 from nursery - but will be back to chat later :)

biscuitcat · 09/12/2020 10:43

Could I join too? I think I'm due around 13th August with my first, feeling very nervous about if everything is going OK! I've booked an early scan on the 23rd so we can tell family at Christmas (it's been decided to have martinis at breakfast so it would definitely be noticed if I said no Grin).

So far I've been feeling nauseous most days which is unpleasant but strangely reassuring too!

BertieBotts · 09/12/2020 12:22

Yes the early scans are vaginal as baby is still behind your pubic bone, so you wouldn't be able to see anything abdominally.

Labour/pg history:

Oct 2008 DS1 - long labour lasting from Friday night to Sunday morning (about 30 hours) possibly back to back - can't remember and it doesn't say on my notes. Found water & Gas and air incredibly helpful but had to get out of pool at the end.

April & September 2016 - 5/6 week miscarriages likely due to DH's balanced translocation.

August 2018 - DS2, this was defo a back to back labour, again long but not as long as the first - 15ish hours. Nothing happened for ages and ages and then it was all extremely stressful and painful at the end. DS2 a little bit distressed/hypoxic so ended up going to special care for 24 hours to get oxygen, we were then kept in for a week due to suspected infection, which it later turned out he didn't have. I had epidural, but it didn't work (!) so I was just really angry and panicky about the pain for most of it.

Really unsure this time whether to get an epidural earlier on or just to go full on natural and really beef up my prep with hypnobirthing etc?? I had no access to G&A with DS2 due to being abroad but definitely going for the one hospital that has it this time. DH reckons epidural ASAP but I'm scared it won't work again and/or that it will lead to complications/slowing down of labour if I have it too early. But will discuss this with MW/doctor closer to the time.

Scooter89 · 09/12/2020 12:33

@BertieBotts hey, welcome, got everything crossed for you. I had never heard of balanced translocation so I had to have a quick google, I didn’t even know it was possible for chromosomes to do that. You learn something new everyday. Hope you are managing to keep positive xx

BertieBotts · 09/12/2020 12:46

I just tend to detach a bit at this stage. I have my first appointment on 21st Dec so will get an idea how things are going then :) Until then, keeping busy with older DC, Christmas prep and work!

BertieBotts · 09/12/2020 12:47

Most people have never heard of it until they find out they have it!

Jessicapebbles · 09/12/2020 17:45

I’m feeling very plump and firm today! This is my 2nd baby all being well (4th pregnancy)...those of you with kids already, how early did you show after your first?

WinterBabyof89 · 09/12/2020 20:13

@Scooter89 thanks :) got to make the best out of terrible situations in order to live a reasonably happy life haha exciting times ahead of us I hope!

@BertieBotts epidurals can be wonderful, but the downsides are there so it’s weighing it up. I had one with two of mine and I didn’t look back - it was a total changer. I could think straight again.

@Jessicapebbles I can’t even remember! You def show earlier with subsequents don’t you.

I’m miffed I can’t eat Brie this Christmas - thankfully I ate loads at the weekend. Will anybody miss anything else?

Jessicapebbles · 09/12/2020 20:25

@WinterBabyof89 I’m going to struggle covering this one up for sure! I’m gutted about Brie too, is Camembert in the same category? That is all I want to eat right now! X

biscuitcat · 09/12/2020 20:34

@WinterBabyof89 rare steak will be mine! I'm thinking of asking for them to test for toxoplasmosis at my booking appointment as if I've already had it I think rare steak is then OK?
