@BertieBotts haha! My OH would like a little girl, but both just would be happy either way to be honest ☺️ The timing has fallen great for you hasn’t it! That’s fab news that you can tell the family with a little bit of confidence!
I would be 6 weeks on the 23rd which I could get booked in for a scan/heartbeat but just scared it would be too early, I don’t know?
I’ll be telling my mum either way because if anything were to happen I would just need her to know I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️ But it would be amazing to have confidence at the same time too! God it’s all just a waiting game isn’t it!!
@haidri so sorry to hear about your miscarriage! But congrats on the new pregnancy! 💕 I’ve had nothing like that yet, but only 4 weeks so I suspect will come in the next couple of weeks! All I’ve had is an uncomfortable stomach and VERY gassy 🙈

KatieLianne93 · 10/12/2020 15:23

@biscuitcat ahh fair enough, I might just leave it until around 8 weeks then I’m just so anxious about it 🙈
I might ask the midwife her opinion when I speak to her on Tuesday then

Flipflops10 · 10/12/2020 17:44

Congratulations all. It's such a weird time isn't it, to know you're pregnant but not to know if everything is ok. I'm 6 weeks and unless something changes we aren't planning a scan before Christmas just in case it's too soon to see anything. May go for one after Christmas though!

poppyseed212 · 10/12/2020 18:38

Hi all,

I’m due on 14th August, first baby so freaking out a little on what to expect.

I’m telling my parents at the weekend and quite excited to tell them. I’m just worrying about the smallest things at the moment - if I exercise am I hurting the baby? If I tuck my legs up too much when asleep am I squashing it? Every time I go to the loo, I’m checking for blood...

Anyone else being this silly?

Flipflops10 · 10/12/2020 18:51

Ah @poppyseed212 I'm the same - though I'm a couple of weeks ahead of you and it's got better. Going to the toilet, wearing fitted waist bands, my cat paddling my stomach, exercising, sex.... all the first times after finding out made me feel anxious but I have relaxed more about that though am very conscious and protective over self (can't be a bad thing!).

poppyseed212 · 10/12/2020 19:03

Thank you @Flipflops10 I’m not the only one then!

I know so many women have been through miscarriages and I’m just hoping I’m ok Confused

WinterBabyof89 · 10/12/2020 19:32

@poppyseed212 I think I’ll check for blood every time I wipe for a long time!
It is all very new isn’t it :)

I can’t remember who to tag as it’s on the previous page but I’d love a Girl because I’m in a house full of boys - my OH and three boys (one on the weekends only). The only girl I have is my cat haha
But I’ve convinced myself it’ll be another boy because I think that’s just my destiny ha

Yay to those who have got their BFPs :)

BertieBotts · 10/12/2020 20:51

In some ways, and I know that a lot of people who have had miscarriages don't like this sentence so please forgive me - it doesn't apply to everyone of course, but for me even if we lose this one, I am just pleased to know I can get pregnant, since it's been 2 years (!) and I was starting to wonder whether I should stop breastfeeding.

The timing is very funny/strange/coincidental for us. DS2 is an August baby as well so we had almost exactly the same timing 3 years ago. I ended up testing on about the 22nd Dec I think and wrapped up the positive test in a little box and gave it to DH saying I had an early present for him. Then I went in for blood tests between Christmas and New Year. We had friends staying so we ended up telling them as they'd have noticed I wasn't drinking. We got the heartbeat just at the start of the new year that time - it was the first time I'd ever had a scan like that, as DS1 is from a previous relationship and was a totally bog standard pregnancy, first scan at 12 weeks! There weren't many private scan booths around 13 years ago.

This year is going to be as easy as pie avoiding any questions about drunkenness :o and because all our family are abroad nobody is coming here and we're not going anywhere!

haidri · 10/12/2020 22:31

@KatieLianne93 @biscuitcat thank you for your well wishes. I'm very nervous but I'm being as positive as possible! I hope your pregnancies are going well!

TO EVERYONE ON THIS THREAD, I AM SENDING YOU LOVE, HOPE & HAPPINESS FOR THE WHOLE DURATION OF YOUR PREGNANCY! You own it mamaaaas

KatieLianne93 · 10/12/2020 23:15

@poppyseed212 I am exactly the same! Checking for blood every time! I’ve wanted this for so long! I’ve also always wanted a summer baby and I will be due mid August!
Also all the firsts are scary for me too, I’m trying to research everything I can and can’t do, and my OH is being sooo supportive! Hopefully he doesn’t tire of it haha!
Good luck to you sweetie! And to everyone else!! 💕

Aw326 · 11/12/2020 17:01

Hello all, I'm dropping into this thread as I've just had my first BFP a few days ago and it looks like my due date will be mid-August. I'm excited and nervous also checking for blood every time I pee! but feeling positive. Like @BertieBotts I just feel so relieved to know I've gotten this far after 8 months ttc without anything.

Sending everyone lots of good thoughts and happy pregnancies Smile

KatieLianne93 · 11/12/2020 18:36

@Aw326 Congratulations!! 💕 so nice to be able to talk to people about it isn’t it!! I’ve only tol my OH so far! 🙈 think I will be due mid August also! Let us know how you get on 😘 have you spoken with your GP yet or a midwife? It’s all so new to me too 🤭

biscuitcat · 11/12/2020 19:02

I'm doing the same as everyone else, always checking for blood! And still taking the odd test as I bought a load of cheapies so I could test 4 times a day without feeling guilty and have spares! 😂 luckily still seems to be getting a bit darker!

I felt very nauseous today, threw up a bit in my mouth (TMI, sorry!) and have been so unproductive. How's everyone else been feeling?

KatieLianne93 · 11/12/2020 19:42

@biscuitcat the same today! First day feeling nauseous! Every time I’ve put food to my mouth I’ve just felt sick, not actually been sick though, and I’m guessing it just gets worse from here? 😓🤣
Hope you’re feeling a little better now though!? I’ve got loads of cheapies too and still got one digital clear blue that I’m saving till next week, how sad 🙈

BertieBotts · 11/12/2020 20:25

Just tired here. Especially after work.

Jessicapebbles · 11/12/2020 20:58

Think my husband might divorce me if my wind gets any worse 😂😂

Had a nightmare with my DD tonight as she’s been sick absolutely everywhere, just what you need with a sensitive sense of smell and Morning sickness 😭.

We have our 8 week scan a week on Sunday, excited and nervous! I just want to see that heart beat!

BertieBotts · 11/12/2020 21:42
Grin

Ooh exciting scans already!

Liloulou · 11/12/2020 23:25

Thanks for the messages @LauraT94 @WinterBabyof89 @KatieLianne93 @Scooter89 . I'd been doing quite well since your messages, trying to be a bit more positive as there isn't anything I can really do to influence things anyway. I was at the dentist this morning and told them as they'd need to update their records, it was nice to say it out loud to someone and see their reaction. They were lovely and it really made me smile. Dare I say it I actually got excited 😃

I'm registered at my new GPs now too. Had call from the midwife this afternoon who's arranged my first appointment for Jan. I mentioned the spotting to her which I still have (about 8 days now with odd day off). I said I know it's quite a common symptom, she said "well it can be but if it continues for another week or so call your GP". She said having a scan at this point (5 weeks) would likely just show a sac and be inconclusive so to wait a week or two. Feeling a bit deflated since then tbh as wasn't particularly reassuring.

TMI warning. Although there isn't much blood at all it is dark brown with very tiny bits in. And there was a small stringy bit one time. That doesn't sound great from what I've read. But maybe I need to stop reading. 😕

My boobs were very tender during the night last night to the point it kept me awake so I'm trying to hold on to positives like still having symptoms, though that is the only one. HCG sticks don't seem to be getting any darker.

Sorry to be on a bit of a downer again, just need to get it out of my system.

A huge congratulations to all the recent joiners and BFP-ers, 🥳 lots of first timers like me. We'll get through the worries and unknowns together 🙂

LauraT94 · 12/12/2020 09:45

@buckingmad I've had my initial phone call with the booking in midwife yesterday but it was such a quick phone call! I felt quite rushed to be honest. She said I'd have to have an extra dating scan at the women's health clinic because of my irregular cycle (they can't just take it on my word that I ovulated/conceived on the 23rd November). And said they'll be in touch via letters to book in all the other appts. Oh and I've got a proper booking in/history taking phone call with midwives on the 9th Jan!

@KatieLianne93 congratulations! It's my first too 🥳🥰 I'm going for a scan at 6+1 on the 22nd December!

@BertieBotts how are you getting on?

@haidri congratulations! I felt nauseated the first day or two after my BFP but I think it was more shock related! I feel fine currently... 🤞🏻 It stays that way 😂

@poppyseed212 congrats! I'm also over analysing every movement and twinge! Also checking for blood constantly. It's such a weird state of excitement and anxiety!

@Aw326 congrats! X

@Jessicapebbles glad I'm not the only gassy one 😂 I'm normally bad anyway but this is a whole other level!

@Liloulou stop googling! You'll only worry yourself even more. Hopefully it's just normal spotting and you'll be fine, but I completely understand how anxious you must be feeling ❤️ how are you doing today?

biscuitcat · 12/12/2020 10:03

@Liloulou oh that does sound stressful, it's so easy to say don't overthink it and that a positive test is telling you you're still pregnant but in the moment I can't imagine that's much help. I wonder if finding something to keep yourself busy and really take your mind off of things will be helpful in the wait until an early scan? Hope you're feeling alright this morning Thanks

MintGreenLife · 12/12/2020 10:16

@LauraT94 that doesn’t sound like you’re booking appointment to me as would have been very early (if I recall correctly from the post pill thread you got your BFP last week?), so your appointment on the 9th should be your proper booking appointment ☺️ In case you were worried about how short it was. I didn’t even get to speak to anyone initially, just had to leave a voicemail and have my booking appointment next Tuesday which I’ve been advised will take up to 2 hours xx

MintGreenLife · 12/12/2020 10:16

*your booking appointment

WinterBabyof89 · 12/12/2020 10:19

@Liloulou you aren’t being a downer! As we’re all so early and not many of our families know we don’t have many options of who to discuss it with so I think venting on here with your worries will be good for you - problem shared and all that :)

I agree with @biscuitcat who suggested maybe finding something to busy yourself with which will keep your mind off it until you can have a scan xx

MeganChar1 · 12/12/2020 10:28

I’ve just found out I’m expecting. I’m not entirely sure how far on I am. I came off the pill on 20/10/20 and had my withdrawal bleed on 22/10/20, so I’m no more than 7 weeks at the most. I’ve estimated that I ovulated around 5th November but because I’d just come off the pill my cycle may have been off so who knows. I missed my period and did 2 pregnancy tests about 2-3 weeks ago (did them a few days apart) and got false negatives, therefore just assumed it was late due to my cycle getting back to normal. However I also have an underactive thyroid therefore I asked for a blood test to check period being late wasn’t due to that, they did pregnancy test by blood as well at the same time and low and behold I get a call on Tuesday morning to say positive for pregnancy. I then did a FRER because I had a spare which came out positive too. I went for a follow up blood test on Thursday which again confirmed pregnancy. Hcg level was 297 at first blood test and had gone up to 1060 at second one, which surprised me a bit unless I misheard the doctor?! As I thought it’s only meant to double. Doctor confirmed it had risen definitely. I’m not having much in the way of symptoms aside from sensitive nipples, needing the loo a lot, some headaches and dizziness and also very mild cramping on and off. No sickness really which is making me worry and also making me wonder how far I really am? We booked a private scan this Tuesday as wanted some reassurance before Xmas (wanted a slightly later date but they didn’t have any available). I’m a bit worried that if I’m wrong with my dates they won’t be able to see much and that will just cause more worry?! I’ve got no history as first pregnancy but it also does make me worry when I hear about other people having miscarriages etc.

I’m actually a therapist and work with people who have anxiety so I should know better than to worry, I’m absolutely rubbish at practising what I preach however especially in this situation!!

MintGreenLife · 12/12/2020 10:49

@MeganChar1 is there a chance you ovulated late in your cycle, as this would explain the ‘false negatives’. I’m 6+4 and even after being off the pill 8 months I was still ovulating really late - CD30 when I conceived. Did you notice any EWCM during your cycle? It can take your body a while to get back on track after the pill, so possible you ovulated late and aren’t quite as far along. Did the GP not comment on your HGC levels in terms of how far along you might be? You can look up what HGC should be by week and that might give you an indication x
