Im with @biscuitcat and am already really missing rare steak.

I’m 6+3 and the last few days have been dire sickness wise. Been so hungry but everything makes me feel so sick.

Scooter89 · 09/12/2020 20:54

@WinterBabyof89 I stood looking at all the lovely cheese that I can’t have in the super market the other day. But it’s worth it.. I guess.. (joking, it is worth it before someone comes for me lol)

BertieBotts · 09/12/2020 21:00

I don't eat cheese anyway as it makes me puke so I'm not really missing anything :D I haven't drunk alcohol for ages either because I was co-sleeping and then even though DS2 still comes in half the night the main thing was that a tiny sip of alcohol would have me snoozing in a corner.

Last time I think I started showing at about 10 weeks. This time... people have been asking me whether I'm pregnant for the last 3 months anyway Hmm so apparently I show that early now.

WinterBaby this is what I hear about epidurals but I just end up feeling so cheated because I did actually ask for it, sat through them putting it in (during contractions!) and it did absolutely nothing! Not a thing! I could still walk around and everything. I had the line taped all up my back all night as well until some point the next morning when somebody took it out for me. However I have since read that back to back babies can "sit" on the nerve and cause it not to work so that makes me feel a bit better as I was thinking maybe I just have some weird epidural repelling body.

biscuit you can, yes, but don't get too hopeful. I've always lived with cats so assumed I'd be fine but I wasn't immune to it. Won't bother having the test this time, I'll just avoid.

Liloulou · 09/12/2020 21:13

How is everyone doing? It still really hasn't hit me yet.

This is my first time being pregnant and I know quite a few people that have had miscarriages, it's made me feel quite cautious and I've not really allowed myself to get too excited. My OH's little sister miscarried last week and she was so upset it was heartbreaking.

We haven't told anyone yet but we were planning on telling OH's parents on Xmas day. I've also been really nervous about how a loss might affect my OH, he's been going through a tough time in work and is off sick with stress and burnout. He seems to be pulling through though and in a way I'm glad it's happened as he's decided to get counselling to finally deal with years of anxiety (although yet to be officially diagnosed).

I've been getting spotting for the last week or so now and haven't been too worried. But I took another test 2 days ago and the line didn't seem to be any darker than when I took one last friday. I know spotting can be normal but I'm registering at my new GPs tomorrow so still feel a bit in limbo with drs.

My OH was actually really good last night, he said you can't live your life worrying about what ifs, that's what led to his burnout. He wants to me to get excited. I'm not really letting myself get my hopes up too much. It feels a bit like when moving house and waiting till you get the keys in your hand before you get too excited.

WinterBabyof89 · 09/12/2020 21:19

@Jessicapebbles it’s a hard time of year to keep secret isn’t it! I think it is the same category yeah which is sad! Xx

WinterBabyof89 · 09/12/2020 21:28

Oops, my page didn’t refresh so didn’t see the other messages!

Rare steak will be on a few people’s list when their babies have arrived. Seems so far away but given how fast this year has gone it might pass quickly!

@BertieBotts you were robbed of some well earned bliss! Back to back babies are supposed to be painful as well aren’t they? I’ve had upside down babies but they managed to face the right way fortunately ha

@Liloulou sorry to hear your OH is going through a tough time - he’s made a good point about worrying about what ifs.. it only robs you of the joy along the journey as often there’s nothing you can do to change the outcome. We can muddle on through together

Scooter89 · 09/12/2020 21:30

@Liloulou I had a miscarriage in summer and while it was the worst experience of my life and I berated myself for being too excited and assuming that it would all be ok, I look back and I’m glad I was happy and excited. It’s heartbreaking, but you will never protect yourself enough that it doesn’t hurt if it happens (god forbid it does). My advice is allow yourself to enjoy it. What ifs stole the joy from the first trimester of my first pregnancy (DD is 3 now), I wish I let myself enjoy it x

LauraT94 · 09/12/2020 21:38

@WinterBabyof89 thank you for sharing! I'm so sorry about your DD but it's so lovely you're still in contact with the pregnancy group! It's great you have support. Plus I'm totally with you on the brie 😩😩😩 plus a bucks fizz!!! I'm also partial to a blue steak so that's going to be a tough one to miss out on this year!

@BertieBotts hi! Thanks for sharing your pregnancy/birth stories too. I find them all fascinating! I am sorry for your losses and hoping you have a sticky bean in there! How awful that people have asked if you're pregnant though?! Honestly I can't think of anything ruder - even if I'm 9 months pregnant, if someone mentions it without me offering up the information first they're getting a slap 😂

@biscuitcat hey! Your scan is only the day after mine ❤️ we're planning on telling siblings and close friends at Christmas! Currently only parents know.

@Jessicapebbles I have heard about bumps popping out earlier if you've had children previously. I can't wait to rock a bump! I've pictured myself pregnant for most of my life and it's so surreal that it's finally happening!

@buckingmad sorry you're feeling so sick already 😢 hoping it eases soon for you! I'm not looking forward to that stage myself.

@Liloulou aww I completely feel you on the worry about a loss! I am still testing because I'm nervous and have been having cramps. But cramps and spotting are all normal at this stage. And I totally agree with your OH that there's only so much worrying about 'what ifs' that you can do! Glad you have his support!

Also, apparently we can have camembert if it's baked 🤤🤤🤤

I'm going to bed tonight feeling positive that I've got a strong-ish BFP tonight after only an hour's hold and looking forward to telling my bestie as soon as the reveal card I've ordered for her arrives! Xx

WinterBabyof89 · 09/12/2020 21:44

@LauraT94 yay to a strong test!

Baked Camembert it is! I need to brush up on the do’s and dont’s - there are so many!

biscuitcat · 09/12/2020 21:58

@BertieBotts oh no, I was hoping the same as I've always had cats! Fingers crossed I'll be lucky, my sister's boyfriend makes the best steak in the world, I'll be so upset having to go 9 months without!

@LauraT94 ooh (nearly) scan twins! Good luck for yours! I can't wait to tell family.

Has anyone else had any premonitions/feelings yet about the pregnancy? I had a feeling I'd get pregnant this month and was right, so I'm now panicking that I'm also right about my feeling of 'is it twins?' - I so hope I'm wrong!! Think I might be going loopy already Blush

BertieBotts · 10/12/2020 06:12

I had a dream on Friday night that I was pregnant and then suddenly breastfeeding a newborn, and my toddler at the same time :o

Didn't get my positive test until 2 days later and it was a bit of a surprise, so that was weird. In my dream DH had done a blood test on me and said it was a girl!

Scooter89 · 10/12/2020 07:55

@biscuitcat even before I was pregnant I was getting adverts for double buggies popping up everywhere. I hope that’s not a sign 😅

With my first I was sure I was having a boy, turned out to be a girl so I’ve given up on my “feelings” lol. I also don’t know if I have a preference, I swing from boy to girl (obviously happy and healthy whatever the gender). Anyone else got a gender preference? X

buckingmad · 10/12/2020 10:48

@Scooter89 this is my first and I think we'd like 3 children so I'm not really too bothered on the sex of this one but boys run predominantly in both our families so it would be nice to have a girl first just so I know I have one! My auntie kept going, desperate for a girl and ended up with 4 boys.

LauraT94 · 10/12/2020 10:56

@biscuitcat I had BFNs on 8 and 9dpo. On 10dpo I woke up with the most awful trapped wind and just knew I was pregnant. Didn't test that day as the nerves kicked in haha! But all that day I was just so convinced. That night I barely slept because I was so excited/nervous to find out. When I did sleep i was dreaming about having a baby boy! Sure enough next morning I got a strong BFP on my FRER! Was still in shock, despite being convinced I already knew 😂

@Scooter89 if I got to choose, I'd definitely love a girl! I've been a nanny for the past 7 years and always found the girls easier! Just more patient and calm etc. But DH would love a boy! He also wants to find out - I want a surprise! Of course I'll be happy regardless, but I think we're allowed to have a preference haha... For reference, my mum has 2 boys and 3 girls. DH's mum has 1 boy 2 girls!

buckingmad · 10/12/2020 11:54

Just booked my first midwife appointment for 21st Dec. Has anyone else booked theirs in/already had them?

biscuitcat · 10/12/2020 13:04

@LauraT94 it's so strange isn't it! I kept saying to DH 'oh I'm definitely not pregnant' to avoid tempting fate as I think subconsciously I had a real feeling I was!!

@Scooter89 I'd love a little girl (though obviously happy and healthy is the priority!), as almost my whole family is women - all the men have married in! But my SIL has given us a huge amount of lovely baby clothes from my nephews so if we did have a boy he's set for years with much nicer clothes than we would be buying! Hopefully that means it's a win-win!

biscuitcat · 10/12/2020 13:05

@buckingmad I've got mine booked in for January 11th - they've already given me a 12 week scan date too on the 28th which is very exciting, and lucky as it means I won't need to rearrange a load of work bits last minute

Scooter89 · 10/12/2020 13:07

@buckingmad I called the midwives this morning to start it all off. I won't have my first appointment until the new year and it will only be over the telephone which I'm a bit sad about. I wanted my folder lol

Scooter89 · 10/12/2020 13:08

@biscuitcat I'm jealous you have your dates already. Nice to have those things to look forward to

KatieLianne93 · 10/12/2020 13:27

Hey all! Hope everyone is well!!

Just found out yesterday that im expecting, think I am around 4 weeks, so very early days and it’s my 1st! So no idea what to expect, and so so apprehensive and nervous!! Feel like I shouldn’t be allowed to be excited until I’ve been for the first scan! But I think this will mean I’m due mid August I guess?! It’s all very new to me, this is my first ever positive!!

What’s everyone’s opinions on paying for an early private scan at 6-7 weeks? Also wanting to tell close family at Christmas as we’ve all had such a tough year but don’t know if this is the right thing to do?!

@Liloulou I completely feel the same way you feel! And also my OH went through EXACTLY the same thing last year, he’s suffered with terrible crippling anxiety for years (We’ve been together 8) and he finally sought out counselling last year and it’s the best thing he ever did!! He’s a changed man, still has the anxiety but has much better coping mechanisms! Fingers crossed for you both 😘

buckingmad · 10/12/2020 14:04

@KatieLianne93 we’ve paid for an early scan. I’ll be about 8/9 weeks when we have it. We wanted to be able to tell our parents with a bit of confidence that all is going as it should be.

KatieLianne93 · 10/12/2020 14:11

@buckingmad everything I’m reading is saying best to wait, just incase for whatever reason they can’t hear heartbeat at 6 weeks then it could unnecessary stress waiting till the next scan 😖 how exciting for you though! I can’t wait to tell my parents, very close with my mum so would be hard to hide it from her until I’m 8 weeks or any later to be honest 🙈 although I would like to have a scan picture to show them! Very excited for you! 💕

BertieBotts · 10/12/2020 14:41

DH reckons it has to be a girl as we've run out of boys' names. (And also he wants "the full set" Hmm) We chose our girl name ages ago so in that way I would quite like a little girl to grow into that name. But it's not really a big deal and we def don't want more after this, so will be happy either way.

We are lucky here in Germany and I should get a scan as well as hCG bloods done on the 21st. We will announce to close family at Christmas once heartbeat is confirmed. If you want to do the same, an early scan if you can fit one in before might be worth it. Once you've seen a heartbeat the chances of miscarriage drop dramatically.

If not wanting to confirm before announcing, it's better to wait until 8 weeks ish for a private scan as there's more to see. Or 10 weeks is another good milestone, miscarriage wise. When I get to 10 weeks with confirmed HB either by scan or doppler, that's my marker.

haidri · 10/12/2020 15:04

After a miscarriage on 30th October, I'm finally able to join this thread because I'm pregnant! Pray for me! Has anyone got morning sickness? What's it like? I feel really queasy

biscuitcat · 10/12/2020 15:18

@KatieLianne93 I'm having an early scan at about 6+5 or 6, it's a bit earlier than I wanted to really but I want to tell our families at Christmas so hoping that my dates are right and we can see something!

@haidri congratulations!!! You must be so excited. I've been feeling nauseous since before I even missed my period, I'm not quite sure how to describe it but it's not very pleasant! I have it for a few hours a day at the moment, sometimes I feel like I want to wretch but sometimes otherwise just a sicky feeling - hoping it doesn't get worse over time.
