@pigletpie2177 I have read that when the baby drops your heartburn will decrease significantly which I am hoping for mine has been pretty bad for a few weeks now too

Hello and hope its okay to join!

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and had my letter through for my c section.
The problems I have is..

I live in East Lothian which is tier 2 just now.
I'm going to St John in Livingston which is tier 4 just now (although I believe it will be 3 soon)
We dont drive and my dad who is in our bubble doesn't.
I've to be there for 7.30am and no public transport will get me there for that time.
I was going to book a hotel in Livingston but all shut it seems and even when open I don't know if they can accept booking from another tier.
Family members who do drive I wouldn't want them to put themselves at risk.

Its left me pretty upset. I know things can change and its essentially first world problems but just so frustrating!

pigletpie2177 · 11/12/2020 09:40

@Grumpy19 honestly - I googled too much and freaked myself out. The consultant I spoke to at hospital was awful too and really flippant about it. Oddly I then met a consultant (who was married to someone I knew) at a party a few days before my section - she was lovely and joking about turning him in the dining room and I wished I'd met her before I'd made my decision. Maybe I'd have had my waterbirth 😩

@PollyOaks ooh fingers crossed then - it's awful isn't it? I should have bought shares in Gaviscon before this pregnancy I've been using it since I was about 3 months 🙈

Welcome to the group @Fefefe! That sounds like a rubbish situation. Do you have a local taxi company? Or maybe they can put you back in the list for the c? I know you're saying about not putting family at risk but I'd bet they'd rather you asked than got a bus, even if one was running x

Grumpy19 · 11/12/2020 12:51

Thanks @pigletpie2177. I'm keen to avoid another c section but I'm also reminding myself that in reality I haven't got much control over how things will pan out.
He might not even be breech, just have to wait and see.
The only thing that is bothering me about it this morning is, having re read my notes from yesterday's appointment, the mw has made no mention of the possibility of breech at all after being very clear with me that she thought he was because of the location of his heartbeat. Surly that should be in my notes!? What if I go into labour before my next scan ? (unlikely but not impossible). Just seems odd.

Grumpy19 · 11/12/2020 12:54

Hi @Fefefe, could the hospital organise a ambulance service? I know in rural parts when the pensioners can't get to hospital they will organise to collect them for appointments. You could always ask.

WhoUsedMyName · 11/12/2020 13:06

Hi ladies does anyone have low iron I was sent for an iron test yesterday and have rang reception they have come back low. Would you wait for MW app Tuesday or take over the counter?

LiG123 · 11/12/2020 13:51

@Grumpy19 just by the feeling and where the heart beat is isn't actually reliable so they wouldn't put pen to paper. Only
On a scan.

ttcchapter1 · 11/12/2020 14:29

@WhoUsedMyName hey, i have severe anemia, have since i was 14 years old. No harm in taking over the counter until you get your prescription. I recommend having it with orange juice as it helps the body absorb iron :)

WhoUsedMyName · 11/12/2020 14:30

@ttcchapter1 perfect thank you for replying will go to the chemist now x

ttcchapter1 · 11/12/2020 14:46

Is anyone else having period like cramps at 34 weeks.. cant bloody tell if its gas or cramps but feels more crampy.

footprintsintheslow · 11/12/2020 15:23

@Fefefe welcome along. Not sure of the distances and costs involved but is a taxi and option?
Also if someone in your position asked me for help I'd be thrilled to help them out. A total honour getting a pregnant woman to hospital.
Another thought is hospital transport?

@Grumpy19 I would've thought it would be better in your notes. When is your next appointment?

@WhoUsedMyName I'd got to the pharmacy and I'd buy my own but check with the pharmacist first.

footprintsintheslow · 11/12/2020 15:26

@ttcchapter1 could that be braxton hicks? Sounds similar to how I was feeling a week or so ago? I put it down to BH.

LiG123 · 11/12/2020 15:53

@ttcchapter1 yes and discovered it was gas 🤪

Grumpy19 · 11/12/2020 16:44

@LiG123 I get that my midwife couldn't be certain one way or another, just thought, as we'd discussed his positioning in quite a bit of detail, that she'd mention it as a possibility in my notes.

@ttcchapter1 I have BH all the time at the moment but I don't think they feel the same as period pains like some people describe. I have had period aches as well over the last few weeks. It just all aches really!! 🤪

Over the counter is fine but they can just come straight back up! I was told to take mine in the morning on an empty stomach with OJ and I just threw them up within half an hour! Was totally pointless. Am now on spatone which is a much lower dose but I can keep down.
If the standard ones don’t work for you there are options!

@Grumpy19 my midwife said any checking for position was ‘just for fun’ before 36 weeks! They don’t even check the heartbeat. If I get a student midwife they have a poke as practice but otherwise I ask and get told to wait!

@Fefefe welcome!!! How horribly stressful for you. Agree that it would be worth asking for an ambulance or other hospital transport. Good luck. X

@Onekidnoclue, gosh! Mine has checked the heartbeat and position from 28 weeks ish.

WhoUsedMyName · 11/12/2020 19:11

@Onekidnoclue the pharmacist said they don't stock them only the bigger stores do Hmm so will nip into town tomoz if not just wait it out till Tuesday and eat loads of iron

As others have suggested, would a taxi or hospital transport be an option? If not, speak to your hospital and see if you can arrive later due to your circumstances. Plenty of people don't have cars, they ought to accommodate you in some way if you explain it.
LiG123 · 11/12/2020 20:14

@Grumpy19 if it helps my midwife was wrong.

Grumpy19 · 11/12/2020 20:18

Thanks @LiG123.

ttcchapter1 · 11/12/2020 20:49

Thanks everyone. Yeah dont think its guess, might be BH. Im soooo ready for this all to be over now.. then the 4th trimester starts 🤣

ttcchapter1 · 11/12/2020 20:49

Gas*

SharonR88 · 11/12/2020 21:40

Hi does anyone know if you need to take Vit d drops with you to the hospital if you plan to breastfeed?

I can't find any that say suitable from birth they said from 3/4 months.

I'm worried as my eldest was Jaundice under the UV light.

Thanks
