I'm planning on doing the ones offered by my Trust and also the positive birth company digital pack. I looked into NCT and decided it was quite expensive! If I knew that it would run in person then I'd be more likely to consider it but feels like a lot of money for zoom classes.

heartcurrent1 · 10/02/2021 14:33

New here I'm 17+3 and due July 18, this is my third and bump is very much here to stay now I love it makes me so excited, however I'm really struggling with clothes! Waistbands in particular as soon as I have a waistband either above or anywhere on my bump I'm nauseous my placenta is anterior an with lockdown I'm home a lot so I can wear nighties problem solved but I'm not a dress person! Does anyone have any solutions or style ideas that don't constrict the stomach in anyway that they found worked?

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 10/02/2021 16:31

@Luckyelephant1 I’ve just signed up for the bump and baby classes. They don’t run til April and are still scheduled to be face to face (all being well) I also got a free hypnobirthing course with it as well which is online but I’ve started reading it and watching the videos. I didn’t realise the trusts did free ones to be honest.... 🙈

But I got the free hypnobirthing, I get a child’s first aid course and afternoon tea with everyone at the end of it too - and I’m a sucker for food hahaha!

If it doesn’t go ahead face to face we do some money back though as well.

PurpleCurtain · 10/02/2021 18:02

Following r.e. classes as I hadn't even thought about this! On the one hand I think I have so much to learn (I feel like I know absolutely nothing about babies)... but on the other I don't think I'll be paying for any classes so anything free that anyone recommends is gratefully received!

@heartcurrent1 it's really tricky... you could try some baggy dungarees, but they aren't the best combined with a bladder that needs very regular emptying!

Luckyelephant1 · 10/02/2021 19:05

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I might look into bump and baby, thanks! Not sure if every trust does free classes but worth finding out.

@heartcurrent1 if you don't like waistbands on or above your bump then what about maternity jeans with an under the bump band instead? Although I've heard you do have to keep pulling them up a lot.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 10/02/2021 19:13

@heartcurrent1 leggings folded down under your bump?

CoffeeAndCaramel · 10/02/2021 19:15

Hi everyone haven't been on for a while!! How is everyone? I'm 17 weeks today with my third and still not felt any movement! Anybody else still waiting for a wiggle?! X

heartcurrent1 · 10/02/2021 19:21

Thank you so much just ordered a pair of loose linen dungarees and stretchy loose 2 sizes up maternity leggings hoping they will work! I've tried waistbands under the bump but with scars from previous sections it's quite irritating overall my whole stomach just hates pants right now!

I have maternity jeans from previous pregnancy but same issue waistband just makes me feel so sick, hoping it passes but with my placenta being anterior and baby only getting bigger I doubt it will haha thanks again ladies these work!

Cressie2 · 10/02/2021 19:23

@CoffeeAndCaramel I’m waiting for a wiggle too at 19 weeks! @Luckyelephant1 I’m reading a few books which I bought off Amazon and going to attend my local NCT in May as want to meet lots of lovely Mums before the baby arrives X

PeanutButterFalcon · 10/02/2021 19:59

@heartcurrent1 have you looked at the next stretch with you jeans? Mine sit in the middle of my tummy and hoping they will stay there as I was a fan of high waisted jeans before.

My trust has all their classes on YouTube so I’ve been watching those, although some of it I think I’d rather not know. The physio has recommended I do hypnobirthing to use the methods for pain relief with my PGP so interested in any recommendations.

No I never thought of next! I'll give them a look Thankyou, I'm really missing my jeans and boots hope I can find a pair that don't make me woozy.

PurpleCurtain · 10/02/2021 21:38

Looking at past threads I might get driven off Mumsnet for this but I've hired a doppler for a month to get me through until my 20 week scan! I've promised myself I won't use it more than twice a week and that I will stop using it once I feel movements! Anyone else got one?!

Warrickdaviesasplates · 10/02/2021 22:26

@PurpleCurtain I haven't ever had a home Doppler but in my maternity pack there was a note specifically advising against using one so I would be wary.

@heartcurrent1 I got some maternity rompers/jumpsuits from ASOS and boohoo, would something like that be useful?

PeanutButterFalcon · 10/02/2021 22:45

@PurpleCurtain I have one (shoot me now). I use it on my days off (I work shifts) and in my opinion it’s pretty obvious to tell the difference between mine and the babies heartbeat when ones 100 beats quicker than the other. However, sometimes I can’t find it or just find my own pulse and would say don’t panic.

I’ve also had concerns (bleeding, pain etc) and never used the Doppler to reassure me and gone to be checked.

Now I’m starting to feel kicks I like to use it to listen to them and see if it is a kick or a bit of wind.

PurpleCurtain · 10/02/2021 22:58

@Warrickdaviesasplates the wariness seems to be about using it instead of seeking medical reassurance, particularly in instances of reduced movement. I have one with a screen which I'm hoping means I can know it's not my heart beat!

@PeanutButterFalcon glad I'm not alone, it feels a long stint otherwise!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 11/02/2021 08:59

I used one in my first pregnancy, i don't see any harm as long as you would still seek medical advice if you had concerns over movement etc. The one i had was a hire one and i returned it once movements were regular.

Is anyone else still throwing up occasionally? Just lost my breakfast Sad

Flittingaboutagain · 11/02/2021 09:38

My midwife asked me what I'd do if I struggled to find a heartbeat on a Doppler and I thought it would just trigger all the emotions of my last missed miscarriage at 12 weeks so instead I've been going for private scans to tide me through the gap.

If I hadn't had my past experience I can imagine being quite breezy about it and getting one like a few of my friends did.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 11/02/2021 10:56

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE no sickness for me - stopped at about 10 weeks and I’ve felt ok since touch wood

Are you still being sick a lot?

I’ve still got no movement yet 18weeks 1day - I hope it kicks in soon!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 11/02/2021 11:13

No probably once a week just randomly and out of the blue! Sad

Movements are increasing here 19&4 today, if its your first baby you probably have better stomach muscles than me Grin

PeanutButterFalcon · 11/02/2021 16:37

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE still very much being sick. I am hoping it’ll go soon as it’s definitely improving. Brushing my teeth is still a challenge I’m not enjoying however.

AliceinBunniland · 11/02/2021 17:48

@TiredAlreadyOhDear @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

I am 19 +1 with second baby and feel like I have felt more movement the past few days but still second guessing myself.

I haven't been sick much at all but I still sometimes feel sick especially in the evenings. Brushing my teeth is a trigger for me too!

@PeanutButterFalcon

Strangely we recently got a new toothpaste and it has more of a spearmint flavour (I think) and it doesn't make me feel as sick! So you could try a different toothpaste and see if it helps?

PeanutButterFalcon · 12/02/2021 13:55

Created a new thread - July were half way as this one is nearly full. Can’t seem to copy anyone one in (probably my phone) so if anyone can please find it

@AliceinBunniland I got a softer toothbrush too but even the thought of it I’m gone before I’ve even started. It’s the worse time of day for me. I usually do another touch up a few times a day instead of morning and night

AliceinBunniland · 12/02/2021 14:53

@PeanutButterFalcon I got a softer toothbrush too.

I think it can also be the thought. I take asprin and for a bit I couldn't only get the dispersible one and that made me feel sick. I now feel most sick at night and I feel like it's because I associate that time of day with having to drink that bitty tablet in water!!

I take "normal" tablets I can swallow now but still feel most sick at night. It's not severe though so I can't complain too much about that.
