@Luckyelephant1 I've been using the mama mio range for a while now and it's fantastic

Flittingaboutagain · 07/02/2021 10:08

I use the serum that smells very floral called Fantastic Skin Elastic by the Expert Midwife.

PurpleCurtain · 07/02/2021 10:19

I was already using Palmers Skin Therapy Oil as my go to moisturiser before pregnancy so sticking with that as it's helped me with other scars and marks and is cheap! Not noticed any vein changes or discolouration etc yet though - I'm 18 weeks.

Having a panic / pains this morning as I wore pyjama bottoms I'd not worn in ages and they really dug into my lower stomach overnight as I sleep quite curled up and the waistband is quite rigid at the front Sad Woke up about 4am in lots of pain. Hoping this hasn't hurt baby - I know the stock answer is "he's in so much amniotic fluid, it'd hurt you long before it hurt him" but still worried because of it happening whilst I was asleep and not sure for how long! Safe to say the pyjamas are going away for a while.

PurpleCurtain · 07/02/2021 10:35

And building on my last post - do maternity pyjama bottoms exist/ are any any good? Particularly from anyone else who sleeps quite curled up. All I can seem to find is nighties and I'm not sure I will ever be a nightie person!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 07/02/2021 11:02

Newlook have maternity pjs in online

Luckyelephant1 · 07/02/2021 11:09

@PurpleCurtain I wore my normal high waisted Gymshark leggings on a walk yesterday as they felt fine in the morning, halfway through the walk I felt strange and had some pains in my abdomen so had to roll them down and I almost immediately felt the relief so I think I was compressing everything way too much. I'm hoping no damage has been done either but yes thats those leggings away for now! Pyjama wise I'm not sure about maternity ones but I'll probably just size up in normal pyjamas, most tend to be fairly loose anyway? I'm not a nightie person either unless it's a boiling hot summer and usually then I just nick a tshirt from DH!

I think I actually already have some Palmers oil somewhere so might finish that before trying out some of the others. Have heard great things about the mama mio products as well though!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 07/02/2021 11:42

Pretty sure no one is hurting their baby with pjs / leggings! Fwiw when i was 19 and pregnant i squeezed into a corset style top for a good few months Blush

PurpleCurtain · 07/02/2021 11:49

Thanks both - know it's vastly unlikely, somehow cant help but get particularly anxious about anything that digs in/ bumps into the strip just above my pubic bone though...kitchen counter top included. .. I think that's because it's exactly where midwives or sonographers have found baby each time! In the daytime I'm sure I could catch a pair of jeans digging in before any damage could even possibly be caused as would be alert to the pain, just wasn't sure I could say the same for my sleepy self!

PeanutButterFalcon · 07/02/2021 13:41

I’m wearing DH PJ bottoms to bed now. So much more room in them.

I’ve been wondering about people’s dates too, I’m 18+1 and often look at people’s posts wondering how it is possible to be due similar times.

PeanutButterFalcon · 07/02/2021 13:42

I’ve been using palmers and find it helps with the itch I’ve been getting too. My skins so dry in some places and yet I’be got Acne in other places!

Sweetpea12 · 07/02/2021 18:35

Hope everyone in this group is keeping well. I had a private scan yesterday baby boy doing so good 😊 but the man who scanned me said I’m definitely not due on the 19th July which is my hospital date he said the baby is measuring 17 weeks and 6 days so a full week and a day over and that they are disregarding my short cycles. I know babies don’t usually come on time anyway but I feel like I haven’t a clue when he is due sometime between 11 and 19th July Confused Has anyone had this where the private dates and hospital are nothing alike?

Flittingaboutagain · 07/02/2021 19:50

Me! Mine was because the private sonographer took the measurements from head to bum when the baby was stretching its head back, artificially increasing the length so the computer algorithm was out. Apparently CRL shouldn't be used for that reason once baby is big enough. It should be head circumference and leg bone or something!

Sweetpea12 · 07/02/2021 20:31

@Flittingaboutagain ah I see so I should maybe just stick with the hospital date that twice I’ve had a private scan and they have said I’m a week ahead based on the baby’s size

PurpleCurtain · 07/02/2021 20:58

Yep stick with the NHS date - the dating scan is 11-14 weeks because that's the period in which dating is the most accurate!

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 07/02/2021 21:05

I had mine at 15&3 ....maybe its a bit out and i won't have to wait as long Grin

Flittingaboutagain · 07/02/2021 22:51

Yes I would stick with that.

I can't wait for the morning. Hoping to hear the heartbeat at MW appointment.

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 08/02/2021 08:08

@luckyelephant1 I've been using bio oil for the last few weeks as my bump had started to start developing. Has anyone else got an obvious bump yet? I'm only 18+5 but feel like I'm showing quite a bit already!

I have some maternity/nursing pyjamas my husband bought from amazon and they're extremely comfortable.

Hope you hear babies heartbeat today @flittingaboutagain

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 08/02/2021 11:12

@FirstTimeMummy2021 I don’t really have a bump yet - I’m 18 weeks on Wednesday. I think I can deffo tell I’m a bit rounder but like someone on the street wouldn’t notice a difference!

@Flittingaboutagain let us know how it goes - I get to hear mine tomorrow hopefully a delayed 16 week appointment!

@Sweetpea12 congratulations on finding out you’re having a baby boy! Is anyone else finding out? X

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 08/02/2021 11:23

I have a bump but am just about managing to hide it, not going public until next weeks scan.

I have a dilema. Aldi baby event next thursday, preorder is online on sunday but my scan is after this! I don't want to text fate but also don't want to miss out! Due to spd / lack or car i would rather buy online!

19+1!

AliceinBunniland · 08/02/2021 13:30

@PurpleCurtain those pyjamas will onky have irritated your skin and would have no impact on baby

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE Do whatever you feel comfortable with. I think Aldi have baby events quite often anyway.

PeanutButterFalcon · 08/02/2021 13:59

@FirstTimeMummy2021 I have a bump at 18+2. Think people started noticing about a week or so ago and now I can feel my muscles stretching.

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE didn’t Aldi have one not that long ago? If you’re not ready I expect there will be another before we are due

Flittingaboutagain · 08/02/2021 14:16

She managed to find it eventually and it was so fast! I freaked and she said that's normal it's all good!

I also have a bump nearly 18 weeks now. It is a lovely B shape hard at the bottom where the placenta is. The Midwife told me there is a shaming thread on a forum I won't name that pops up and gets deleted periodically where women compare and despair over bump shapes and generally put down women who don't have a bump of a cetain shape. Seriously couldn't believe it. After what I and so many others have gone through to get this close to actually having a baby, the shape of a healthy baby bump just wouldn't come close to making it onto my things to feel shit about list!

So ladies whatever your emerging bump looks like, it is a miracle inside you and it is all natural!

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 08/02/2021 14:53

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE ooo thanks for the heads up on the baby event I’ll have a look. I would order if you need things....I know people are funny about buying things but I do like to be organised....I’ve bought a good few things now for the baby but I think because I have nothing at all, as no kids already, I feel like I’m behind others who already have loads of things. I got an angelcare bath support from Aldi last week was only a tenner and its like 20quid at other shops so I thought it was a good deal so I snapped it up xx

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 08/02/2021 14:54

@Flittingaboutagain bump shaming? I didn’t even know this was a thing!! People must have very little else to do to shame people for their bumps!
