@MsBee13 that's pretty shocking - you should ALWAYS get movements checked if you're concerned :-(
@danielasummer I've been in twice for movements but both times before 28 weeks (the result of incorrect information from a midwife about placenta position not affecting perception of movement: it does before 28 weeks!) I had a scan after the first time but not the second time. If they do recommend induction could you make an informed decision at that point as to whether you accept? The NHS seems to have a habit of failing to disclose the research behind their decisions unless you ask for it and midwives are not always up to date with the current research (as my own experience has demonstrated).

I have my 38 week appointment today but have just learned over the weekend that my hospital has gone backwards on Covid restrictions (back to 0 postnatal visitors if you have to stay in after birth: nothing like denying fathers access to their own children :-( ) so my mental health has taken a bit of a hit and I'm feeling very anxious about the whole thing now. Hopefully I get one of the nice midwives who can offer some reassurance :-(

Kj1010 · 10/11/2020 11:08

@Babyhope98 I'm not entitled to smp so.i am only getting omp which is why it's for only 5 months I now have to apply for maternity allowance from goverment but my work should of sent me my matb1 form and a smp1 form within 7 days where I'm not entitled to smp I am fuming

MsBee13 · 10/11/2020 11:11

@EithneBlue I told my midwife this and she said to always call the triage or come to hospital if I'm concerned no matter what. Always better to come in than be sorry later. That's what she keeps telling me. Just feeling like an idiot each time I get there and baby is moving and everything is fine. I feel like I'm wasting their time.

EithneBlue · 10/11/2020 11:18

@Kj1010 - get in contact with Maternity Action - they have people trained to support and advise you in this exact circumstance. Can you get hold of your employer's maternity policy to check?

EithneBlue · 10/11/2020 11:21

@MsBee13 - I'm glad to hear your midwife is supportive! Don't feel like an idiot: checking you out is literally their job - if they make you feel like an idiot for caring about your child I think that highlights an issue with them, not you

Asianchick6693 · 10/11/2020 11:25

Hey just adding my comment on here so I'm on the thread. I literally was up from 2:30am and finally managed to knock out at 7am. Just got up. Reading everyone's comment on here about mentioning decisions about how they're giving birth etc. I've just been keeping everything between me and my husband. Pregnancy and motherhood is so strange isn't it, in the sense that everyone will always pass on their opinion. I've come across friends/relatives and sometimes they're so adamant that their way is the correct way! I'm not naive and accept everyone is different but regardless will always trust the choice they're making for their baby is the right one.

Kj1010 · 10/11/2020 11:32

@eithneblue I've been in contact with the higher department and I've been told because I dont earn enough I dont get paid smp and under my contract they only pay omp for 18 weeks to there employees I am getting my matb1 and smp1 form from work tomorrow and have to fill in maternity allowance form and send to HMRC's to get help with a top up I'm just very annoyed my
employers have been so lax to sort this and now I feel in a rush to get it done when should of been done months ago so now my wages will be short until this all goes through which can take upto 4 weeks when I'm due right on top of xmas etc my stress levels and emotions are through the roof now

Jellycat2020 · 10/11/2020 11:41

@Sheera1 going back to what you said on the last thread, I'm pretty p***d off with work too. I was furloughed in March then when everyone else was brought back around May/June, they refused to make changes to keep me safe and despite me pleading and having concerns over my mental health by being at home for so long, they just wouldn't entertain it. I then had to get legal advice to ensure I got paid full wage and nor just furlough wage as they fought that too. Since June, I've not had one text, email or phone call from any of the senior staff (all men) asking how I am, despite me breaking down on the phone when I last spoke to one of them. I obviously appreciate I've been kept safe from Covid but it's the way they've handled it that made me so angry 😡

Asianchick6693 · 10/11/2020 12:18

@Jellycat2020 I've been really disappointed at how pregnant women have been dealt with at work during this pandemic. Not saying everyone has had it bad but I also had a right nightmare trying to prove to them that at 28 weeks being in work was too risky for me or at least I wasn't willing to put myself through that risk but they weren't having any of it. Their advice to keep me in work was so contradictory. In the end I went off sick at 29 weeks with my pelvic girdle pain anyway and I feel so lucky because work has nearly had 10 covid related cases. We all work in the lab as well but yeah I feel your anger. It's almost as if our safety, mental health etc isn't valued but rather them being awkward is far more important!

Jellycat2020 · 10/11/2020 12:29

@Asianchick6693 I know I'm a bit opposite as I wanted to work but they were stopping it, but I really struggle with doing nothing and just couldn't face not working for potentially 18 months. There's just been no communication since June and considering I've worked there for 10 years, it's pretty shocking.

peachypetite · 10/11/2020 12:41

@EithneBlue that sucks. Does your hospital have a MLU? Currently at mine, if you have a birth on the MLU your partner can stay until discharge. If you have to be transferred to the labour ward and stay in partners can visit for a couple of hours in the afternoon.

LRHRN · 10/11/2020 12:45

Heartburn 🔥 it's literally killing me, I've had it all throughout this pregnancy mild and on and off but the last 5 days has been non stop to the point it's making me sick. I can't eat or drink anything without it flaring up to the next level 😭
Tried milk, gaviscon and tums and nothing is working any suggestions please?

phe694 · 10/11/2020 12:55

@LRHRN i suffered really bad with heartburn and nothing helped, i got in touch with my doctor and they prescribed me omeprazole, it helps so much!

LRHRN · 10/11/2020 12:56

@phe694 I'll give them a call as I can't cope with this until baby is born, it's horrendous

phe694 · 10/11/2020 12:57

@LRHRN i definitely would, i take a tablet every morning and haven't really suffered since!

peachypetite · 10/11/2020 12:58

Honestly can't believe how some of you have been treated by your employers. I feel very lucky. Will you look for new jobs before it's time to go back as a result?

lc86 · 10/11/2020 13:04

I second omeprazole! It's been a life saver and haven't suffered for weeks since taking it 🙌🏼

Asianchick6693 · 10/11/2020 13:04

@Jellycat2020 that's fair enough but I definitely think all pregnant women should have been treated the same with regards to pay/medical suspension etc. Like if your reasoning is justified why do they have to be difficult? Just feel like us women have had to fight for whatever has been best for us in that situation. They're usually all about protecting pregnant worker's rights etc but yet when it came to showing compassion and understanding there was none of it!

@peachypetite I hope to look for something closer to home before I go back but whether or not I'll get any luck is another story as my job is really specific. We'll see what happens!

lc86 · 10/11/2020 13:05

@LRHRN I called the dr and they prescribed omeprazole over the phone, it's amazing and I can't believe I didn't know about it months ago x

Asianchick6693 · 10/11/2020 13:06

@LRHRN also I should add that you may also take gaviscon as well as omeprazole if it is really bad but just make sure to leave a space of 2 hours between taking the two.

Jellycat2020 · 10/11/2020 13:18

@peachypetite I have strongly thought about it but otherwise, the job is perfect for me and they are very flexible with regards to part time work for parents so I'm (hopefully!) going back after maternity leave and will see how things go. It's difficult though, as I feel a bit stubborn about the whole thing and part of me just wants to walk!

@Asianchick6693 oh absolutely. They just wanted to take the easy route and I wasn't it! I did take some strength from the shock they got when I said I was taking legal advice - I'm normally so quiet, I don't think they expected that! 😊

LRHRN · 10/11/2020 13:35

@lc86 @phe694 typically my doctors surgery isn't open this afternoon due to training ??
I phoned the midwife triage and they want me to head straight to the hospital now

lc86 · 10/11/2020 13:37

@LRHRN fingers crossed they get it sorted for you x

LRHRN · 10/11/2020 13:39

@lc86 she's worried me now though as she said I need to be monitored as it's not normal to be throwing up with heartburn and because the pain is coming from under my boobs.
I'll let you know what's said x

excitednerves · 10/11/2020 13:48

@danielasummerRe reduced movements, I called once, they told me to do the sugary drink and lie on my side trick before coming in, baby was fine. This morning I called again (after doing the lying down) and I was panicking. There’s a difference in “I’ll keep an eye on this” worried and “this is wrong” worried, I think you instinctively know the difference. Baby is all well but she’s fully engaged which is why she isn’t moving so much (well she’s moving but just more gently and not so swishy)

I’ve also heard that after 2-3 visits for RM that they will discuss induction
