Morning everyone, had a bit of a worrying night! Ended up in hospital with reduced movements (for the 3rd time 🙄). They mentioned I have nitrates in my urine too which is indicative of a UTI, great. They also said that because I've been in a few times for reduced movements, and if it continues to happen, I might have to be induced..I've never heard of this. Have any of you? I was quite shocked, especially since every time I've gone in for RM baby seems to be fine.

Also just wondering if anyone else has been in for RM and if so, how many times? I seem to have a baby that sometimes doesn't move for a few hours but is absolutely fine when monitored and scanned. X

I’m 36weeks today and was meant to have growth scan then consultant appointment but had tel call last night saying scan was cancelled due to sonographer being ill. It can’t be helped especially in current circumstances but main point of appointment was to check baby still growing well and placenta functioning otherwise they will induce.

I have GD and having to take metaformin as the high readings were coming from some random meals they wouldn’t expect to cause a high and baby on 10th centile which they say is smaller so don’t want growth to slow. I just feel worried now no scan available but il still go to appointment and see what they say.

They want to induce at 38wks but I asked if all well please let me go to 39 as really would prefer to go into labour naturally and they said yes aslong as scan today showed no issues. This is my 3rd 1st was 39+4 and 2nd 38wks exactly but a gap between them and this baby so afraid my body will treat like 1st time going into labour.

Morning does anyone understand maternity pay at all on here and how it works as I've just recieved my maternity support schedule cant make sense of it but looks like I only get help for 5 months and not a lot by it at all not even half pay etc

peachypetite · 10/11/2020 09:24

I haven't been in at all for reduced movements, as long as I'm feeling them fairly regularly I am happy. I don't worry if it's been a few hours, I assume baby is sleeping? Or if I have been standing up cooking for a few hours I don't expect to feel the baby.

loobeelou · 10/11/2020 09:30

Congratulations @Jwl45 she's beautiful. Hope you are both doing well x

peachypetite · 10/11/2020 09:30

@danielasummer I am not sure if there is one official policy on reduced movement or if it depends on the hospital, are they classifying you as higher risk now?

Babyhope98 · 10/11/2020 09:31

@danielasummer I think that is standard practice if you’re going in a lot, have they scanned you? They induced my sister at 39 weeks as she had gone in a few times and had low Papp A. I went in the other week as she wasn’t her normal self think it was a quiet day. It’s good if you are unsure that you keep going in regardless if they are fine on the monitor just to be sure! X

Babyhope98 · 10/11/2020 09:37

That sounds like you are getting Statutory maternity pay from your company, it isn’t much unfortunately it’s for 39 weeks and the first 6 should be 90% of your pay and up to £151 a week thereafter depending on your pay before maternity. I had to get maternity allowance as I hadn’t been working at the company long enough which is even worse but happy I’ve got something coming in atleast x @Kj1010

Kj1010 · 10/11/2020 09:40

By looks of it I'm.only getting smp for 6 weeks off employer then I get omp for 12 weeks then that's it I get nothing for rest of year and I've been there for 16 months and I'm only getting half pay this month when I'm still at work

Babyhope98 · 10/11/2020 09:43

That doesn’t sound right as you’ve been there for long enough you should be getting it for the 39 weeks. Have a look a government website: www.gov.uk/employers-maternity-pay-leave @Kj1010

danielasummer · 10/11/2020 09:44

I forgot to say I'm 36 weeks tomorrow. @peachypetite I asked if I was still low risk but the midwife didn't give me a straight answer (???) normally the evening is baby's really active time but I was poking, prodding, wriggling for a good hour and had nothing. @Babyhope98 they're going to scan me either today or tomorrow, I have felt baby move this morning quite a bit. It wouldn't stop me from going in but I reeeeally don't want to be induced so it scared me quite a bit x

@danielasummer I haven't been in for reduced movements myself, I almost did once but figured I'd been very busy so may have just missed movements. I had a sugary drink, some chocolate & laid on my left side, within 10-20 mins he was on the move.
I have seen posts on the pregnancy forum previously were after multiple reduced movement scans, induction has been recommended.

LRHRN · 10/11/2020 09:51

@danielasummer I've only been in once and they were lovely, I felt stupid though cause she started moving non stop when they hooked me up 🤷🏼‍♀️
It's a horrendous feeling when you've not felt them for a while or very RM your heart absolutely sinks and I don't blame you for keep going in.
I'm not sure on the policy for reduced movement and inducing, I would of thought they would induce if the baby's RM showed on the monitor and there was a change in HR maybe or if they see a reason to induce early on a scan?

It's a really tough time these last 2 weeks, for me it's worse than the first 12weeks and I feel so anxious it's crippling. I've gone back to the absolutely exhausted stage

Babyhope98 · 10/11/2020 09:51

Hopefully the scan should put your mind at ease. I think they like to be on the safe side, hopefully the baby keeps up it’s active self now 😄 x @danielasummer

Thank you, it is a boy, I already have a girl so looking forward to meeting her baby brother:)

MsBee13 · 10/11/2020 10:38

@Dee96

Just a fun one to put out there...so the midwife consultant I spoke to on friday suggested sex as the best form of natural induction much to my dp's luck Grin was wondering what others thought about it and if it's actually worked for any of those second times mums with experience behind you
I keep telling my OH about this but he is too afraid to hurt the baby! 😄 I have to show him some articles that it is perfectly safe 😆

I was in for reduced movements twice and each time was kind of "told off" that baby is fine and I shouldn't over worry, as being a FTM. The doctor also told me I have to be careful coming in for reduced movements all the time as their hospital policy is that they will have to induce me if I come 3 or more times for RM.
LRHRN · 10/11/2020 10:50

@Edemummy aww that's lovely. This is my third baby due 28/11/20 I already have a boy 13 and a girl 9 we are just so ready for her now but she's an awkward monkey and is transverse so having scans tomorrow to make a plan
