Oh @bubblybon ignore me I've just looked at the list and it was last week 🙈

bubblybon20 · 14/12/2020 23:08

@ew1990 that's okay! So hard to keep up with everyone's appointments! Crazy isn't it, 28+ weeks plus.. not long 😍😍

ew1990 · 14/12/2020 23:17

I know Friday I hit 28 weeks then im finally in the home stretch!

JoJo58995 · 15/12/2020 09:11

How many of you have got extra scans after 20 weeks? The sonographer told me yesterday it's a good thing they dont want to see us again (anterior placenta has moved higher) and baby about average for all her measurements, it just feels like a long time to go without them scanning her now!

ew1990 · 15/12/2020 10:10

@jojo I've got growth scans. I had them with DD Coz she was measuring small, had them every 2 weeks from 28 weeks with her.

RosieJess91 · 15/12/2020 11:49

Well, spoken to my midwife today, 25 week appointment anyway. She's worried, said it doesn't sound pregnancy related, and I should go straight to a&e next time it happens.
Yesterday was so bad I literally spent my day feeling like I had just climbed off the teacups. 104/64 for blood pressure, which I was told was normal but low, and she said the only sign of preeclampsia is my swollen hands, so she's not sure I do have it. So I'm confused.
Laying down to have heart rate of baby checked was awful, felt so breathless and dizzy and they said they could see the colour leaving my face, so definitely think I need to be seen to. But got to hear his heart beat again! And he kicked them away when they did it.
So fed up. Feel like I'm being ignored and no one is listening to me. 😭

DanceM1 · 15/12/2020 16:19

@Workingmama1 really scary! I had a growth scan today thankfully or think I would have been at triage again 🙈 I'm nearly 29 weeks now so obviously my movements should be regular.

Baby is breech so explains why I've been feeling a bit less/different movements the last two days...and why baby is kicking my bladder so much 🤣 Hoping baby moves soon so I can feel him/her more again! The sonographer scared me a bit though as she said baby's position wasn't 'an excuse' for not feeling as much movement... so the consultant and midwife got all of my questions and anxiety bless them! Ha.. they were reassuring though and very lovely. And baby is measuring perfectly.. right in the middle on the chart.

I also got my GTT results while I was there and no GD for me yeyyyy. I made the mistake of saying to the midwife "Good to know in time for Christmas"... she was like "Not too many mince pies though!" 🤣

@JoJo58995 I have 2 extra scans but only because I've had covid otherwise I wouldn't have any.

DanceM1 · 15/12/2020 16:23

Oh @RosieJess91 thats awful im so sorry! I would definitely just nag them until they get so sick of hearing from you that they do something about it. That's not normal and if the midwife said she could see the colour draining from your face etc then its not OK. Lovely you got to hear heartbeat again.. my baby also kicked the midwife at my 28week appointment last week haha. Really hope you're ok!!

Pugprincess · 15/12/2020 17:20

Aww glad the scan went well @DanceM1, that's good that you get some extras due to covid too.

@RosieJess91 wondering if there's anything your midwife can push for so you can be seen. Shouldn't leave you feeling poorly. How are you now?

I had my week 20 scan part 2 today and all is well. We got the head checked and measured as babies head wasn't low today like last time. Measuring 2 days behind but thats nothing really is it? Also the morning urine worked as there wasnt any sugar this time. So I guess its time to crack on with the nursery soon lol xx

@pugprincess what a lovely wee picture! Congratulations - snuggle down tonight and do some nursery planning 🥰

@rosiejess I am glad they midwife took you seriously at least and that bubs is well ... anyway you can take yourself off to the MAU tomorrow and insist on getting seen?

@dancem1 I had my 28 week growth scan and GTT test this week too - no GD thank God and baby is measuring spot on despite the fibroids 👍
I do have anaemia though which might explain the breathlessness ...

@jojo58995 I have growth scans at 28 w (done today) and then 32 and 36 but these are due to fibroids. You can't really see anything when they get bigger if it makes you feel any better! Some trusts do a 36 week scan as standard and I thought they were bringing it in everywhere but that might be scrapped ATM because of COVID 🤷

Xx

Smilingdonkey · 15/12/2020 18:30

I am feeling pretty stressed at work. We are in East London and I teach in Havering which has pretty much the worst C19 rates in the country and this week is really dragging! Mass testing means the kids are dropping like flies and everyone is just knackered. I don't know why they don't just close schools - kids are not learning much and all the classes are half full so we can't teach anything important until everyone is back anyway. I feel like we are being used as a big political tool at the moment!

We also have a housing nightmare in that we are in a one bed flat with DD now and can't sell due to cladding bollocks - I am waiting for confirmation that we can rent it out (it's shared ownership) so we can move to a 2 bed - but it looks increasingly likely that we will have two kids in a one bed for a bit as I don't really want the upheaval of renting out the place/moving at 40ws or with a newborn! Think we need to buy a bloody good sofa bed. It's making me so depressed and stressed.

It all just feels a bit much right now!

Anyway rant over sorry!

JoJo58995 · 15/12/2020 23:05

Thank you for the reassurance about the extra scans. Once I can feel her more regularly I'm sure I'll feel a bit happier about it and I know it's a good thing they dont want to see me back, it's just so nice to know she gets seen with the scans and they can tell me if everything is ok. Tonight's worry is that I accidentally just stumbled across something about not using anti ageing creams when pregnant because of the retinoids....I use no 7 protect and perfect and have done for years and never even thought about it, now I've googled it I dont know whether I should have been or whether it's all just a bit hyped up. Something else for my brain to think about 🤦‍♀️
@Pugprincess glad you got the full ok with the scan 🥰 lovely pic!
@Smilingdonkey I'm sorry you're feeling so stressed, it does sound like a lot to be trying to sort out! Hope you manage to get things sorted xx

SkyBlue20 · 16/12/2020 05:17

Morning all! Been awake since about 3am thanks to a sore ankle and knee and lots of noise from outside and just cannot get back to sleep! Enjoying some very lovely baby movements though 🥰 Glad as she had a quiet day yesterday!

@Workingmama1 Yeah it’s definitely the angle - it’s side on but not fully side on, if that makes sense, so I just look all round bigger than I am. Oh well, sure in a few weeks I’ll be like ‘I was so small there!’ 😂

@JoJo58995 Not a single other scan booked here - I know it’s not a bad thing but it would be nice, wouldn’t it?!

@RosieJess91 So glad your midwife is taking you seriously. Really hope you can push to get seen, it doesn’t sound right at all. Xx

@Pugprincess Fab news! What plans do you ha e for the nursery? We tackled IKEA on Monday night to buy some of the bits we need (no cot though - figured we should keep the sofa bed in there as long as possible seeing as how she won’t be in there for ages yet anyway and we’ll likely need the space) and plan on doing it all over the Xmas break. I think that will make it feel so real 😬 Think Jan will really bring it home actually with the nursery done, our NCT course and the pram and car seat etc arriving 😬

@Smilingdonkey sounds like you have a lot going on, big hugs! I agree that they should just let schools finish already - seems stupid that they haven’t just locked everything down for two weeks pre-Xmas if they want to allow families to mix 🤷🏻‍♀️ Surely they could let schools finish a week early and make that up over the rest of the school year?!
How stressful about your flat, too. The cladding thing is an absolute scandal, really hope you can sort it all soon.

Absolutely starving, debating whether to get up and get a snack or try to go back to sleep 🤷🏻‍♀️ It might be a snack and doze on the couch type situation, I’m so awake!

Pugprincess · 16/12/2020 07:57

@SkyBlue20 that sounds like a good plan! I'm wanting to completely strip the spare room of its old carpet and textured wall paper from the previous owners. It will probably need replastering and skirting boards want replacing as I think they are the originals from 1945 lol. Then I want new door as we have brown doors upstairs so I want white and then decorated grey and white but with a cloud wall paper theme (keeping neutral till we find out the gender at birth) then I will add some blue or pink accessories to break it all up. My mum's kindly buying us some furniture as a gift and brother has a cot to donate to us 😁 thinking grey carpet and maybe a nice children's rug. What's your plans for decor x

Poppy10121 · 16/12/2020 12:11

Sorry I’ve become really useless at keeping up with this thread, I read it but I can never remember who said what to reply! Anyone else finding forgetfulness is the main symptom in 2nd trimester?! Finally gone through and written some replies!

@Skyblue20 I ordered a Cybex pram after trying out everything in Mamas & Papas. We don’t have a lot of space so getting one that folds small is important! So exciting that you are getting your nursery ready! What did you get from IKEA?

@RosieJess91 Sorry to hear about your preeclampsia and heart issues, you are having a tough time and it sounds like you’re being passed from pillar to post :( Are they not able to do anything unless you go to A&E?

@Dipsy77 sorry to hear about your GD :( Hope you can find some other treats to enjoy at Christmas time. Maybe more cheese and crisps?!

@Pugprincess Your 20 week scan pic is lovely! I’m finding the same with bras, it’s the elastic underneath that’s digging in! I’ve already bought new bras twice so might follow your example and just take them off altogether over xmas :D I love your nursery theme idea, it sounds so classic.

@JoJo58995 I hope you are feeling better and more reassured after your scan. I have definitely had that feeling - was delighted to start feeling flutters and movements, and then every second that you can’t feel them is a worry! It’s still early days though. I wouldn’t worry too much about beauty products, if you go looking there is advice against everything on the internet but it’s not in any of the formal NHS guidance. I think you shouldn’t use strong medicated creams that would be prescribed for skin conditions, but the strengths in normal beauty products are not enough to do damage. I have flare ups of a skin condition that require a strong prescription-only steroid and my dr even said its fine to use that for a few weeks at a time if needed.

@Smilingdonkey that sounds like a really stressful situation :( I’m also in London and I don’t understand why they won’t just let schools close. Hope it’s not too long til your xmas break and an escape from it all!

Pugprincess · 16/12/2020 12:45

Aw thank you @Poppy10121 I can't wait to start it. Yh it's defo the elastic on the bras for me too. I eliminated under wire bras awhile back now. I've had to wear my sports type bra today as I'm wearing a top that I just cannot get away with it 🤣 but if I'm in a jumper the bras off! Thank goodness for winter 😁

My therapy people should be calling shortly for my initial assessment. Only tomorrow left at school for me then I'm finished for Xmas. Decided I'm definitely working from home and I think it will start around Jan 25th. Thinking about starting mat leave at 38 weeks. Xx

SkyBlue20 · 16/12/2020 15:18

@Pugprincess That all sounds lovely, I don't envy the amount of work you have to do though! We renovated our house completely when we moved in four years ago so there's not too much to do in ours. It's white at the mo with plain white built in wardrobes and a dark laminate wood floor so I've reorganised the wardrobes and got a load of drawers, rails, etc (the Ikea trip, @Poppy10121!) to put in there so she can have one wardrobe. Then we're going to repaint all of the walls white just to tidy it up and the wall where her cot will be will be a dusky pink on the bottom half with a rainbow in other dusky pinks on the top half. Have bought a couple of prints to replace the ones currently in here (I say here as it's also my WFH space at the mo and where I'm typing from...) and want to get some nice individual book shelves to attach to the wall. Then we've bought a cheap changing table to go in a space that's currently occupied by drawers (the drawers will go in the office). I wasn't too bothered about a changing table but DH was so we've just got a cheap one and then can move the drawers back in when we're done with it - it's a really awkward size space otherwise we'd have got a nice set of drawers and used the top for a changing table but nothing would fit and the drawers we have are really tall 🤷🏻‍♀️ So yeah, just a bit of painting, mainly just reorganising really. Got her the cutest huge giraffe teddy that will stand alone in here, too, it's so lovely. I know I'll be dying to get the cot in here and have it finished but it just makes sense to keep the sofa bed for as long as possible and we can't fit both!
Yay to finishing work tomorrow, that's so exciting! I'm in until Wednesday 😴 I have MW on Wed morning though and am hoping to shut the 'office' on a half day if not too busy so really it could be Tue 🤞🏼 WFH sounds like a good decision - not long at all left in school for you!

It's the elastic on the bras for me, too - probably wore underwired for most of the second trimester but moved in to bralets again about two weeks ago, so much comfier (I, too, am on to my third lot of bra purchases, Poppy!)

I got up at 5:45am in the end and had a piece of toast and a doze on the couch, am so tired now though, am not really sure how I'm getting through the day, am not being productive, that's for sure - I hardly even know my own name! Roll on 5pm... 😴

RosieJess91 · 16/12/2020 16:39

Think I'm going officially insane. Maternity unit rang to say that they don't think I've got preeclampsia, they think I've got anaemia! So now I'm booked in for a trip to the doctors for a blood test on Monday. Would apparently explain why I look yellow, why I keep getting breathless, and why I feel so horrendous. So I may finally have an answer!! Hooray! Fingers crossed results come back quickly, I'm just anaemic, I just need iron tablets and I can continue on with my pregnancy without any other issues!!
Thanks all for listening to me rant on. 💗

Poppy10121 · 16/12/2020 16:46

Oh btw for people thinking about nurseries etc, I found a really cute rainbow baby blanket in Asda. It's my tiny nod to this baby being our rainbow - just thought it might go well with your nursery themes too @Pugprincess and @SkyBlue20! Link is here if anyone is interested :-)

Pugprincess · 16/12/2020 17:23

Awww @Poppy10121 that's a lovely thought! 🌈 Funnily enough I saw a real rainbow on my way to work this morn and spoke to my belly saying that's for you 🥰 Would be a nice way to incorporate some colour too with so much grey and white. I'm conscious not to be too much that way I want them to have plenty of stimulating colours too. In a few years when they develop interests we can properly decorate to their taste but then again if I'm lucky enough to get preg with a second and they turn out to be the opposite sex I will have to figure something else out decor wise as they would be sharing a room.

@SkyBlue20 all nursery talk is getting me excited lol I suddenly have the urge to clear out under the bed in their ready for taking the bed apart on Sunday. Want to contact a charity to come take it and the matress. We're going to order a blow up bed for sleep overs. Your plan sounds great and defo easier than ours lol, we got the house in Aug 2019 though so havent done anything major to bedrooms just painted over the textured wallpaper to freshen up. But I want it done properly for baby ❤️ I have a mood board of photos from online for my nursery il try and find it and attach it. X

Pugprincess · 16/12/2020 17:25

Oh and @RosieJess91 that's great news as that would explain a lot of your symptoms. Fingers crossed you will be feeling much better very soon. Have you been taking a pregnancy supplement anyway as my pregnacare has iron in I'm sure but sounds like you might need an extra big dose x

SkyBlue20 · 16/12/2020 18:21

@RosieJess91 Amazing news (well not that you have anaemia but that they think they know what's up and it can be treated!) Fingers crossed for you you'll be feeling much better by Christmas 🤞🏼

@Poppy10121 Lovely blanket! My best friend bought us a little fabric type rainbow wall hanging and it is so lovely, I'll put it on a shelf somewhere in the room I think 🥰

@Pugprincess Yes, blow up bed is our long term solution, too - we do have three bedrooms but DH works from home (always has even pre-Covid) so the box room is an office and can't really be changed. Can't imagine we'll have many guests once baby is here anyway - maybe just my mum on occasion if she can't be bothered with the 45min drive home or is babysitting!

SkyBlue20 · 16/12/2020 18:27

Some of my Pinterest pins for the nursery - just some loose ideas ☺️ Like you, @Pugprincess, I’m now dying to start building the drawers and stuff! Must go make dinner instead 😂

Aww lovely @SkyBlue20 yh I must admit I cried off starting anything tonight lol. Think I need to be on holidays I'm so tired 😅 xx

JoJo58995 · 16/12/2020 20:02

@Poppy10121 the scan was so reassuring but it still doesn't stop me from worrying 🤦‍♀️ I was pretty sure I felt 4 little kicks on Monday (first ones, and was so lovely I nearly cried!) but since then she has been pretty quiet again with maybe some little flutters this evening. I'm 20+3 so I know it's not supposed to be regular but I'm desperate for stronger more consistent movement to keep me sane. Yeah I figured with the face creams it is probably fine, there isnt any definite guidance and like you say you can find advice against everything if you look for it. I've moved to a normal cream anyway just in case to try to stop me thinking about it xx
