@Buzz22 congratulations on your baby girl. Sorry to hear you had such a traumatic time in theatre, that was really badly planned of them.
We had our baby boy, Otis on 20th October. When I went in the midwife said I was probably not dilated enough to stay and then surprised I was 5cm and admitted me. Less than 3 hours later I was 10cm and baby born an hour later. It all happened a lot quicker than I thought it would but I did stay at home as late as I could manage pain wise and used breathing techniques and the ball at home. I had no idea of the post birth pains, my god how hard is it to wee!
I had two grazes inside and one tear which needed stitching due to locations. I lost more blood than they would have liked but didnt even realise until the midwife told me hours later. When I tried to get off the bed I could see she was right as I felt so faint. I had to stay on labour ward longer for blood tests and to be monitored. In the end I had a cannula fitted and extra fluids. Because labour ward was too busy but they wanted me to have more one to one monitoring I was taken at 3am to empty day unit and eventually at 5am to postnatal. Luckily my husband stayed with me 6 hours after he was born and visiting hours for postnatal are generous at 10am to 9PM. I was discharged by lunchtime the next day and they said considering the blood loss they were amazed at my iron levels still being so good. I felt much better after the fluid drip overnight too.
Hope everyone is doing well xx
