Just wanted to update everyone that baby girl arrived yesterday 🥰 my waters broke on Friday and had to have an induction - birth preferences went entirely out of the window but both me and baby are recovering well 😊 Just wanted time say how wonderful it’s been to have this little group throughout this journey xx

Zaalfruit · 12/10/2020 06:40

Congratulations @StrawberrySprinkles - good luck and hope you and baby feel great !!

@Treacle81 omg well done with the amount you are expressing - I can’t even express 1 fluid ounce it starts to hurt even thou sometimes my boobs and huge and rock like. Yesterday as I fed her my other boob leaked over her. Dh wants be to stop bf and do bottle completely as he thinks bf is time consuming with the expressing and that she isn’t efficient as she takes lots of breaks when you drinks from me . We had a huge argument at 1am we aren’t on speaking terms now. Trying to have lots of fibre and lactose 🤣

Anyone thinking of doing the sweep it was really effective for me - But thinking about the discomfort I felt is making me cross my legs now.

The healing process after post partum is just sooo long - I was so naive I thought it would be so easy - but no it’s hard to wee , sit down , I feel moody . The one thing that annoys me is when people say the baby is hungry - my mil and fil constantly banging on about it .

@NWnature and @Buzz22 you both are so close you are right baby will come when baby wants to . omg it’s so annoying when people bang on about due dates .

( in terms of mental health I have 4 extra appointments with midwife to keep an eye on pnd-my mood swing side to side - for example I love the support from this group but recently I don’t feel up to reading it or participating which isn’t like me . I have so many messages to respond to but it just seems like an effort.

@Treaclepie19 thank you fir creating this group and thank you to everyone for the support - it’s a great network her .

Wants me **

Treacle81 · 12/10/2020 07:48

@StrawberrySprinkles Congratulations on your baby girl 💞 @Zaalfruit tbh I'm feeling the same as your DH, went from 3 hourly manageabke feeds to feeling like a machine and feeding what feels like constantly. I'm using nipple shields as helps him latch and duesbt hurt nipple as much but feel he only feeds for like 5 mins, pulls away, think he's settled them he's back on a few mins later. Wirh formula you would you give a full day 100 ml bottle and that would satisfy them. Expressed Bottle night feeds have also been 2 hours, DH doing them so I can rest but I clearly still wake. Just utterly exhausted. That's how my mh works also and just know that no matter how you feel, we will be here when you need us 💞xx

LostinAusten2 · 12/10/2020 07:50

Congrats @StrawberrySprinkles 🥰🥳 hope you and baby are well and good luck with the recovery x

And you’re doing really well @Zaalfruit - incredibly sensible to have reached out for mental health support - and just ignore the MIL and FIL: I’m sure they’re trying to help but you know this baby much better than them 😊 x

Viletta · 12/10/2020 07:58

Hi all, got some contractions back, hopefully this time this is it!

Zaalfruit · 12/10/2020 08:19

@Viletta yay that’s great news fingers and toes crossed for you .

@Treacle81 I know where you coming from on the boobs they take a sip and knock out and then when you lay them they fuss and cry . I wish I had more milk that way I can express and then alternate between both milks. Atleast your dh wakes up - my dh can not function in the night he is knocked out - after 1am he can’t function - sometimes I feel like kicking him as I’m cross that he gets 8 - hours solid sleep.

@LostinAusten2 it was hard admitting it to the mh team as I felt like a let down to my daughter but it’s for he best I suppose for me to get the help now. Lol at mil and fil I try and ignore them.

Lol I just read my message from earlier - it doesn’t make a lot of sense but I did it whilst breast feeding so thats a triumph 🤣😂

FourPlasticRings · 12/10/2020 08:23

Fingers crossed for you @Viletta!

Congratulations @StrawberrySprinkles! It's good to be this side of it all, isn't it?

@Zaalfruit My heart goes out to you- breastfeeding is hard enough without an actively unsupportive family group surrounding you with negativity. Show your DH this link; www.nhs.uk/start4life/baby/breastfeeding/your-questions-answered/
Get him to look at the top question- benefits of breastfeeding. Also join a breast-feeding Facebook group too get some support.

I think it is very hard for partners to watch us struggle but not be able to help. DH has been through it before but he's still expressed frustration at not being able to help (this one is SUCH a boob monster compared to our first). It probably comes from a good place and if you can get him to see the benefits of breastfeeding hopefully he won't oppose it. You're doing so well, keep on keeping on x

FourPlasticRings · 12/10/2020 08:25

Also, have you tried putting a hot water in to warm the cot before you put baby in it after feeding? I tried that for the first time last night- total game changer.

otterbaby · 12/10/2020 09:54

Yep agree with others, BF is so hard sometimes. My midwife who came out is really pressuring me to change to pumping but I don't want to yet. Olive is clearly a 'little and often' type of gal, like treacle sometimes wants to feed for only 5 mins, rest for 5 and then go again. Drives me nuts because I have to try to get the latch right each time. I tried nipple shields but she hated them. They're also so engorged right now and they are literally leaking everywhere, at one point it was like a fountain! I called my local la leche league consultant and had a 30 min conversation with her and it was really helpful x

saiditbetterthanme · 12/10/2020 09:57

41 weeks today and have a midwife appointment this afternoon. Definitely going to ask for another sweep. I've been quite fed up recently as I just want my body back and play with my ds1 properly.
That said, I really can't complain, dh and family have been amazing helping out with childcare.

FourPlasticRings · 12/10/2020 13:41

Olive is clearly a 'little and often' type of gal, like treacle sometimes wants to feed for only 5 mins, rest for 5 and then go again.

My first was like this. She hit the 91st centile at about 8 weeks an dhas remained there ever since, despite never feeding for more than 10 consecutive minutes (she averaged about 4 and a half, if I remember rightly). As long as gains are made and nappies are plentiful, I wouldn't worry.

Viletta · 12/10/2020 14:51

@saiditbetterthanme good luck! Hope things start soon! I'm 41+1, didn't have a sweep. Another 12h of latent labour contractions, finally managed to sleep through them as got completely exhausted and they eased off again...

BntTowers · 12/10/2020 15:06

@Viletta oh I really feel for you with all the starting and stopping! You are doing amazing.

I have nothing going on here apart from back ache, I think baby is sitting on a nerve which is annoying!

Our cat has his staples out, but he has to keep the cone of shame on for another 5-6 days and won't be allowed out until after then so will meet baby with it on.

@FourPlasticRings good tip, I'm going to make sure I have my heat pad near the bed to put in baby's Moses basket for a few minutes before putting them down.

Breast feeding sounds so hard, but I also can't wait to be part of it.

Treacle81 · 12/10/2020 15:43

Damn this new app. I wrote a lengthy note with pics this morning and it never uploaded! I'll try again without the pic. Arrrgghhh!! @Zaalfruit I had a call from the breastfeeding support team so they are coming out on Wed so looking forward to that, I'll let you know how it goes. Cam has developed baby acne, it is like wee yellow heads all around his eyes, eyelids and at sides of his nose, looks so angry and sore. I've been advised to apply breast milk to them, so that's what I'm doing. I am going to buy a hot water bottle and try this, he is tiny looking in the crib so might be an idea, thanks @FourPlasticRings (think this was your advice). Cam skept for 3 hrs and 20 there, just wish he'd do this at night. I've not been engorged today so not expressed yet, dunno I'd that's right thing or not. Hopefully we have babies this week 🤞❤️xx

NWnature · 12/10/2020 20:20

Nothing happening today for me! Went for a long walk and am now bouncing . No signs whatsoever though! 40+2

Going to get the flu jab tomorrow and more walking. Acupuncture session on Wednesday.

FourPlasticRings · 12/10/2020 21:09

Hope things get started for you soon @NWnature.

@Treacle81 the hot water bottle thing worked wonders- I put it where his head was going to be so that it was nice and warm for him when I put him down. He still woke every 45 minutes or so but did go into his cot first try without waking and I'll take that!

LexiM · 12/10/2020 21:09

@bnttowers @nwnature I'm still waiting too! I've had so many "signs" for over a week but nothing has happened. Last night the cramps were stronger and I couldn't sleep but took paracetamol and then they dulled down. Got the same again tonight. He really is teasing me!

I hope your acupuncture is good @nwnature , I would love to try that. I've had my flu jab, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be before going.

@bnttowers your poor cat, I know how much they hate the cone of shame!

@StrawberrySprinkles congratulations to you!

Sorry for some reason I struggle to keep up on here despite not really doing anything and no baby yet. I do nap a lot at the moment! I feel like others babies are going to be sitting up by the time mine comes Haha, I know I'm being ridiculous!!

BntTowers · 12/10/2020 21:33

@LexiM @NWnature not many of us left!

I've been bouncing tonight, I've convinced myself that nothing will happen until induction now anyway. Will see of anything comes from the sweep tomorrow afternoon.

@lexim the vet said we can take it off for short periods of time for the next few days as long as he doesn't luck the wound, he spent 20 minutes cleaning himself then started licking so I think I'm just going to keep it on from now on.

Buzz22 · 12/10/2020 22:00

@BntTowers good luck with the sweep tomorrow.

I'm still waiting too. 40 +3. No signs here today. Went for another long walk this morning and afternoon but feel zero difference for it!
Fully expecting an induction next week now. Giving up looking for any signs if labour!

BntTowers · 12/10/2020 22:03

@Buzz22 I'm not getting any signs at all so not holding out for going into labour over the next too days. I'm just hoping that it will be just enough to make induction a bit easier.
It could all change at any time though 🤞

Wobbitcatcher · 12/10/2020 22:15

I’m still waiting too guys, 41+1 today. I’m having hours of contractions every night, then they disappear! I’m so worried I’m not going to take them seriously and end up having the baby in my living room Shock
My toddler is also being a total nuisance and not sleeping at night at the minute. Send help someone! Second sweep tomorrow I really hope this does the trick Confused

Viletta · 12/10/2020 23:30

@Wobbitcatcher I'm in the same boat as you,41+1 and having lots of latent phase contractions. I think I'll definitely feel when they turn into established labour, dreading it. I though I'd cope better with pain. Trying to get as much relaxed as possible. Had hot bath, tens machine, hot water bottle. How are yours? Hopefully we'll see our babies very soon!

Wobbitcatcher · 12/10/2020 23:34

@Viletta they seem to have calmed down for me already! I lost quite a lot of plug earlier but I’ve been losing that for a few weeks so just don’t know what to take seriously.
Baby is having a right wriggle at the minute so at least I know he/she is happy enough!
How are yours now? Do you have sweeps/induction booked?

BntTowers · 13/10/2020 09:26

@Wobbitcatcher I have a sweep today too, good luck for yours. I'm not sure if I'm any further on than on Thursday when she tried, but couldn't as cervix wasn't open enough.
I'm so tired I seem to be awake every morning between 5 and 7, not including the many times I'm up during the night. Trying to get up at a reasonable time to make breakfast still is getting hard. Just tomorrow left though and the induction day is here.
