These are the boots I have my eye on Well you did ask Fettle

honeyapple · 18/10/2007 21:13

Nice boots Ready ...BUY THEM!!

ReadySteadyTrickOrTreat · 18/10/2007 21:18

Yay!! I will, thanks Honeyapple - How are you feeling?? Any sign of junior?

Bodkin · 18/10/2007 21:27

Mmmmm, good boots Ready - I do love a "small concealed gusset" on a boot

I have just submitted 2 reviews on here in order to win DD1 some Disney Princess crap. I quite enjoyed doing them actually, I felt like I was on Watchdog or something

Fettle - I've been really enjoying going walking out and about too - such a pretty day today, and sooooo nice to get out the house when DD1 is going bonkers (like yours is!) That's nice that you've got a new pal and your DD has made some friends! I need to find some (real ) mums with babies I think, all my mum friends had their 2nd kids ages ago, so have toddlers now. Can't quite face going to NCT again. One of my mum friends is due to have a baby in Dec though, so I guess I'll have her to play with soon....

Bodkin · 18/10/2007 21:30

Oh and Fettle - absolutely PMSL at your medical diagnosis! Sorry to hear that they're dragging you down though .

honeyapple · 18/10/2007 22:08

No signs of LO yet... poodling off to bed now, will probably read for a bit... DP staying in London tonight so I dont fancy waking up to any contractions just yet .

Bodders- tell me more about reviews and princess crap... that is just up my DDs street!

MrsMcSpooky · 19/10/2007 09:58

Hey ladies happy Friday ? working from home today and am determined that I will be working for most of it . DH and I went to see Rendition last night at the cinema, it was really good.

Fettle ? LOL at it being freezing down South ? I just have a feeling we are going to have a freezing winter up here, might need to order the snow wheels for the Bugaboo to make sure I do get out walking when Beanie gets here Talking of routines, I met the girl in my office who is expecting the day before me for lunch (I still think it is so funny that we have the same surname too) anyway, she is reading the book by she who shall not be named and her DH is reading the Baby Whisperer and then they are going to swoop and read the other and then decide which routine to follow ? I was seriously impressed, I can?t get my DH to read his Haynes baby manual never mind a book on routines! I did actually do at least 3 hours of work yesterday so I felt a bit better about my professional commitment, it is still very poor though the walk was good but too long, the MW was a bit shocked that I?d walked that fat but I did sleep better from all the fresh air and boy was it fresh!! Feeding the ducks sounds idyllic! LOL at the big boobs get yourself an over shoulder boulder holder that?s great about Toby?s weight and I so hope that he doesn?t have to go to the jaundice clinic.

Bodders ? My Mum didn?t tell my sis that she knew, my Mum is convinced my sister is gay because she never talks about men (and so what if she is!) so my Mum has got herself all worked up that my sis was watching women, I tried to tell her that some channels turn to naughty ones late and night and that even if she was watching porn, most of it is female based rather than male and that watching it doesn?t make you gay! She?s not having any of it though!! PMSL at the small concealed gusset comment!

Ready ? nice boots from one of my fave shops I must have at least 6 pairs from there but they are all very high so what I probably need is a pair of boots just like those ones!

Honey ? I agree, pack that bag!!

fettleandbabyfettle · 19/10/2007 10:19

Morning all!

Hope you had a peaceful night Honey - no contractions yet? Can't believe you are 39 weeks now! Last 2 weeks have gone really quickly, but I still expect Toby to be older than 4 weeks! So in that respect the last few weeks have gone nice and slowly.

Good boots, Ready - defintely get them!! We're off shopping next week (half-term and dH is taking the week off), so I can get some more boots, but I need to go to shops which cater for the larger calf! Need more than a hidden gussett!

Bodders, why wouldn't you go through the NCT route again? I don't really know anyone round here with babies either, my friend from DD's school has an 11 month old DS and I have another friend near-by with a 16 week old, but was wondering about going to a NCT post-natal group, but not quite sure about it - never had any direct dealings with the NCT!

Another beautiful, but cold day here today and Toby has had some good awake time - just settled him now for a little sleep - now do I clean and tidy the house or do I doze on the sofa watching crap daytime Telly - I know what I want to do, but I also know what I ought to do!!! I was up 3 times last night between my 2 darlings, so think I'll go with the sofa option for a bit anyway [do you really see me getting up and doing some work later?!!!]

Hope you are all have great days.

Crossed with you Mrs, while settling Toby! hope you have the nice sunshine today too - always used to love working from home in the sunshine - not quite sure why. Missing work today - wish there was an easy wayt o combine motherhood with work - some way of stopping your baby, so don't miss anything and increasing the 24 hour day in 48 hours! You all think I'm mad, I know but i'm very lucky to do a job I enjoy (on the whole, it does have it's moments!!) and to work with people that I really like and am really friends with therefore am really missing at the moment (it is probably that side that I'm missing most, rather than the work, it has to be said!!). Hopefully going up there the week after next to go out for lunch with them.

anyway, won't disturb you anymore - I'm off to a get a blanket - even the central heating isn't taking the chill out of the sitting-room today!

Bodkin · 19/10/2007 11:04

Have just discovered a taste sensation this morning - Philadelphia and lemon curd on toast! Sounds mad I know, but its gorgeous, like cheesecake. Mmmmm, I'm off for some more when I've finished this!

Fettle - get on that sofa woman! Can;t believe Toby is 4 weeks already. As for Isla, I've stopped counting in weeks now (although with DD1 I probably did until she was about 6 months!) But she's 3.5 months, so whatever that is... 15 weeks maybe? I didn't mean that I didn't like doing the NCT thing first time round - I met all my mum friends through the bumps & babies meetings (you don't have to be a member, just turn up and pay your £3 or whatever) and they're all really lovely... but the thought of being with a whole new batch of people and doing the "ooh, is your baby doing that, oh, mine isn't..." again doesn't really appeal. I think if I was in your situation and had just moved somewhere new though, I would definitely do it to meet people Is there a group near you? I think I'll just carry on being Hermit Mum and enjoy my quality time at home while Isla sleeps so much in the day, and when she's a bit older and needs more stimulation, I might start going to a few baby groups again. God, don't I waffle on

Know what you mean about missing work - I keep dreaming I am back in my old job in London, with Isla in tow, and freaking out because there is glass and lead everywhere and it is not really a suitable place to have a baby, but at the same time getting really excited about the next window I am about to make!

Honeyapple - there's a link on the Mumsnet home page to win the Disney crap - just click on it and you ahve to either do a product review or add a local listing. I don't actually want to win the top prize - that sounds hectic, but wouldn't mind a goody bag for DD!

Mrs - have a lovely day working from home - great way to start the weekend! Snow wheels for the Bugaboo? What are they then, like caterpillar tyres I'm coming round to the Frog now, it has been fab for Isla's daytime naps, although she still doesn't like being in it when it is moving and she's awake I end up carrying her and pushing the pram! Seem to remember doing that with DD1 a lot too, so maybe it is just my kids hate being wheeled around!

Right more toast....

fettleandbabyfettle · 19/10/2007 11:47

Ok bodders - have to ask - how did you discover that combination? You're not pg anymore?!!! I'm on the stroop wafles - which are really yummy dutch waffle-type biscuits with syrup in the middle - melted over hot cup of tea - yum-um!!!

I'll give the NCT a ring then and at least find out when the meeting is and give it one go - got to be brave, but I'm not that great at meeting people, particularly in large groups like that!

Well - Toby's sleep lasted all of 10 mins - he not a happy bunny this morning. Trying him in his bouncy chair now (bouncing it with my foot) as he definitely didn't want to lie flat in his moses basket and he keeps dozing off and then waking up crying his "I'm in pain" cry -maybe a touch of reflux? Or my curry I had the night before last?! He'll probably just go to sleep and then I'll have to put his coat on and into the car seat to get DD in 45 mins!! At least, I can'tworry he's sleeping too much or doesn't cry enough!!!.

Health visitor just rang to say she's spoken to the paediatrician and all Toby's tests are normal, so if he still jaundiced in a week or I'm at all concerned they'll see us in the jaundiced baby clinic, but as DD was jaundiced for quite a while, it might just ben a genetic jaundice that lasts longer than normal - lucky us to get that gene!!

Ok - it's gone quiet - will it stay quiet if I stop rocking and lie down??

I love wotsits and maltesers... one of each together at the same time. My friends all think I am barmy. I have also eaten bacon fries with ice cream before. Will I get super odd cravings if I ever get pg? Or will I go bland?

MrsMcSpooky · 19/10/2007 14:29

Fettle ? hope you are on the sofa you deserve it! yup, lovely and sunny so I have 2 loads of washing on the line, I don?t know why but it is so satisfying ? here come some black clouds though I am that you miss work, I guess I haven?t made any great mates at this job (been there a year n December) the banter isn?t that great and the work is a bit slow .. hey ho! That?s news from the HV!

Bodkin ? ugggggh! You are not pregnant again with cravings like that are you Bodders?! wow, I just can?t believe Isla is 3.5 months, where has the time gone, I guess the 9 weeks until my mat leave will fly now, which on the one hand is very scary, this house isn?t doing anything quickly and I have a feeling we will still be here when the baby comes which is lovely in one way but I just don?t know how we?ll make ends meet. Have been feeling a bit sick about it all morning actually. Think I?ll suggest to DH that we get a secured loan now to pay off some debt and cut the interest we are paying and hopefully that?ll tempt fate and get someone to come and buy the house! LOL yup the snow wheels look like caterpillar tyres! Funny that Isla doesn?t like the moving pram! I hope I don?t have a baby that doesn?t like traveling in it, that?s the get fit plan!!

Uggh Ready, those combos sound awful! Sounds like you?ll be eating earth or charcoal or something when preggers. What?s new with you hon? Anything? In many ways, you and I are in life limbo together!

fettleandbabyfettle · 19/10/2007 15:38

oh mrs you made me feel really jealous and bad- i should have done some washing and hung it on the line! not done anything today except unload the top of the dishwasher!!!![oops]

DD has been emusing herself well while I dozed on sofa and dealt with Toby - now I think we're all bored - she's just painted my nails! Not bad really, but I'll be re-doing it later, myself I think!!!

Right must go unload the rest of the dishwasher [come on Toby wake up, so I don't have to!!!]

Just quickly as have to cook supper, but while I remember Firsty - have you had a look at a shop called Duo (they do on-line sales, if there is not one near you), but they cater for the larger calfed lady!!! I'm making a special trip all the way to Bath just to go and try some on next week, as I too need slightly more fit!!

Right, sups!!

OP posts:
Bodkin · 19/10/2007 20:40

Aww, Firsty - love your description of Ty "wuffing" his rusk down! Bet he is a hungry lad at his size - my sis started her DS2 on solids early as well due to his size. Sounds like you've got nighttimes well and truly sorted - that's great! Lovely that you've got your mum (or is it your DHs mum?) to look after him when you go back to work. Are you going back full time?

Mrs - how did your friend's induction go?

Fettle - i love those waffle things too - I have a health food shop opposite my house and I'm forever popping in there for a pack to help me through the afternoon. Don't be nervous about the NCT meet - it's always much easier to talk to people when you've got babies to talk about!

Discovered my new favourite snack by accident actually - I'd made DD1 Philly sarnies for her packed lunch, then used the same knife to do some lemon curd on toast for me, licked the knife afterwards, thought hey that tastes nice and snack history was made.... I'm pretty sure I'm not preggers again, although I was just looking at that "what made you cry in pg" thread and have to admit that the opening to In The Night Garden gets me every time....

ReadySteadyTrickOrTreat · 19/10/2007 21:09

MrsMc - Yes, we are very much in life limbo together aren't we ... I am so sorry that you have not sold your house. I know how hard it is to sit there in a house you love but ultimately need to sell. So I completely sympathise with you petal. Hugs. Try and keep the faith that it will work out in the long run. Have you fixed the price now? Will that make it easier to sell? I am totally clueless when it comes to the Scottish system
How are you doing with the injecting these day?

Bodkin - You said you are pretty sure you are not pregnant... so you could be then

Fettle - Those boots are quite generous in the calf area - I have tried them on in brown, but they didn't have 5s in black. Boooo. Glad all Toby's tests came back normal

Firsty - I have to confess I love rusks so I can understand Ty wuffing his down Love the idea of taking bets on my cravings or suggesting things - I will try get there as soon as I can

Big wave to everyone

Just a thought - does Honeyapple post every day normally??? Maybe baby has made an appearance

Bodkin · 19/10/2007 21:39

Well, put it this way Ready, DPs sperm would need legs to get anywhere near fertilising any eggs

Actually while we are on the subject of conception - I'm thinking about getting a coil (old-school type, not Mirena) - anyone else ever had one? Whaddya reckon? They are supposed to make your periods heavier, but mine were really light before this pg, so it wouldn't be too bad.

honeyapple · 20/10/2007 10:02

Morning-

Sorry Ready, no exciting news from me ... TBH I reckon I will go overdue, so at least another week... I would really prefer to get it in October though as DD's bday is early December, and then DS is early January! I'll have 3 mths of birthday parties to organise! But whatever will be will be... Bonfire night parties?... hope he likes fireworks!

Firsty- lovely long post . Rusks are yummy tis true! How old is Ty then? I need a recap of birthdays. Good to hear that he will be with his Nana. They will have a lovely relationship. My mum looked after my DS when he was little and they have a very special close bond now.

Bodders- i know what you mean about those baby groups... it gets a bit boring listening to obbsessed mothers going on about their kids.... heh, isnt that what we waffle on about on here??!!! But seriously, I have met some lovely people through baby/ toddler groups when we moved to Kent... so I think I will pop along to them again this time around.

Fettle- I would definitely advise you to pluck up the courage and go along to a coffee morning/ baby group. There will be lots of people in the same boat as you I am sure... and Toby is too cute to stay at home! You need to show him off.

Right, I'm going to go bounce on my ball, eat some pineapple and then march up and down the stairs...

fettleandbabyfettle · 20/10/2007 10:06

Morning all!!

Just had really yummy chocolate croissants (home-made a la Nigella!) - pretty tasty, but also pretty calorific, I would think!!! But need energy for the long walk ahead of us - DD is determined to cycle over a bridge that we drive under every day, but what she doesn't know is to get there is about 1 mile of cycling before! I've not been brave enough to take her on my own with Toby, as I don't think my Quinny could support her bike, while I'll carry her and push Toby, when she (and she will!), get tired! But got to encourage activity don't you and it will be good for my bottom!!

Ready - I'm going to try Jones boots too on our trip to Bath shopping - get most of my other shoes from there! Need some more shoes, as I was living in horrible flat things while pg, so looking forward to getting back into my heels. If I do go back to work all these 10 people in my department who we employed while I was pg, will be shocked by my actual height when they realise I don't wear flat shoes out of choice!!! BTW maltesers and wotsits?! Does it have to be that combination@? I know that crisps in general with chocolate3 i3es32w1q is quite tasty, i think it's to do with the salt and chocolate-combo!

Bodders - keep on at me to ring the NCT will you, next week - I'll chicken out otherwise! Found on Mumsnet local that there are baby-signing classes in my town too, so ought to try those out - what are everyone's thoughts on baby-signing - heard mixed things about it? Not sure what my feelings are about coils. My personal opinion, is that on paper, they are definitely the way to go for us ladies who are not thinking about any more children for a while, and as I can't take the oral contraceptives anymore (and won;t take the POP, due to possible weight gain), it really is the option I should take, but I hate internal examinations and have a real phobia of cervical smears, so dread to think how I'd cope with having a coil fitted. [this is where I should admit that the company I work for sell a couple of coils, so I probably shouldn't give any advice on the suitability of them as I'd get sacked!!!, but my fears of them has nothing whatsoever to do with the coils themselves! and I have no personal experience of them either (they are much smaller than you think though, that really shocked me when I actually saw one though!).] At the moment, we're going with the complete abstinence option, but don't think I'll be able to fend off DH for much longer!!!. Was considering using the taking charge of your fertility option, but backwards, ie to work out when you wouldn't get pg, rather than when you're most fertile days are! Conceived both cycles I had after reading the book, so i can get it to work that way, but it is a little risky the other way around! Maybe you should have a coil fitted and let me know how it was?!!!

Honey - where are you? Ready is right, you've been an avid poster recently! hope DP made it back in time. Where's the webcam - these home-birthers should be sharing the experience with us all!!!

Firsty - you sounded good. Well done Ty on sleeping so well. I'm wondering when Toby will ever sleep longer than 3-4 hours at a time! Had our first projectile vomit last night at 1.30am, all over me - caught most of it in his muslin, so it didn't get the bed sheets, but still not what you need in the middle of the night. He was then wide awake until about 2.30am when I fed him again (he'd been happily chatting to himself in his moses basket for that hour, while we pretended that we were sleeping!).

Big waves to everyone else - DD is going mad running around the house dancing to music, so before she damages something i'd better go and amuse her!

Hi Fettle... have fun on your trip out, hope DD manages to cycle all the way (and back).

Oh yes, the coil, meant to say that my sis had one fitted and said it was blooming painful for a while, but now is fine and she hasnt noticed any heavier periods... hwoever I think she has the mirena... is that the one that has hormones in it? I dunno .
Anyway, personally I couldnt do it... makes me feel a bit yuck. You have to check it as well, feel for the bit that comes down through your cervix. I am hoping to have no periods until I stop BF which is what has been the case in the past. Obviously not an exact way of preventing PG... .

Webcam ... think I gotta work out uploading photos first!

honeyapple · 20/10/2007 10:29
