yes hangover has gone thanks!!! and NO marcy didnt go through!!! she is definately not as good at sleeping as my other two! she goes from about 10.30 till 6 then fidgets and moans but doesnt need feeding so i shove the dreaded dummy in and she is quiet (ish) till about 7. not bad, but could be better!!!
bugger! she is waking up and i was really hoping to catch up with you all!!! so much going on and no time for MN!!!
had dd1s mas party on fri .......v. sweet when they met santa. and sorry to say bodders marcy was fast asleep on the hall floor where i put her down! BUT she did show me up at a friends bday party the other day when she grizzled and whined and there was another ickle baby who was an angel there!!! annoying isn't it?!! had dd1s nativity today too and she didnt sing a single song despite having sung them constantly at home for the past few weeks!!!!!! ds's xmas party tomorrow and then another one on thurs and then i think we can relax a bit on fri!!!
glad you have started weaning bodders!!! marcy will never last till 6 months!!! not sure if she will last till 4 months at this rate!!! she truly is her mothers daughter!!!

fettle...........i know what you mean about rereading old posts. i have done it in the past and i cant believe how scarey the start of my pg was this time. i really thought i had lost my baby and now here she is squirming on my lap desperate for food!!!

mrs! you do look big! but big and beautiful an pregnant not big and fat!!! i thought it was the other way round fettle............out front was a boy!!..............all bollocks anyway isn't it!!!

and dont panic i still havent written my cards!!!! might do it tonight!!! loads of time left...............isn't there!!!

chooster! i bet you wont be able to help yourself!!! i bet an annoying comment comes out!!!!!! did you enjoy your 18 mins!? sounds like bliss to me!!!!

Bodkin · 18/12/2007 20:35

Ah, great to hear none of you lot have done your cards either. That's what I should be doing right now, but of course, i'm on here.

Firsty - lovely to hear from you, bet you must be shattered. How long do you have off work over Christmas? Sorry to hear that Ty is gagging on his food... could you try things like sweet potato, which are quite sweet, though technically savoury

Fettle - wot a nightmare! Like you say, you have to be thankful for your health at times like these! Is it sorted now, or are you freezing your assets off over there?

Chooster - sounds like Theo's taking to his nosh well! I'm still just sticking to porridge for the time being (lazy mum alert) but DD1 loves feeding Isla - it's the first thing she's really been able to get involved in, and i have to say, she is surprisingly good.... I was expecting to be wearing most of the porridge myself, but got off quite lightly!

MrsMc - At last - a picture! What a lovely bump you've got! You look glowing!

Honeyapple - missed you out on my last post - sorry! How's it all going for you? I'm so excited about Christmas too - this is the first year that DD1 has really got it - she never stops talking about Baby Jesus! She gets really excited when we go down to collect the milk off the doorstep in the mornings ("He's Been!!!!") so if she's that excited over 2 pints of semi-skimmed she's going to be beside herself on Xmas day!!!

OK, those cards......

Bodkin · 18/12/2007 20:40

Oops Greedy! Sorry, don't know what happened there - I thought I'd done you! Can't believe how much you've got going on in the run-up to Christmas - seems to be a constant round of parties, nativities, activities - you'll be glad when it's over won't you!

cityangel · 18/12/2007 22:50

Happy Christmas everyone

I hope all you and your families have a festive time. Thanks for all your support.

Bodkin · 19/12/2007 13:01

Hey City - how are things with you? What's the latest?

greedygreedyguzzler · 19/12/2007 17:16

its getting very quiet on here!!! anyone would think we all had hectic lives!

how is everything with you city? i was thinking about you the other day when i was reading over old posts from last year. hope you are doing well.

bodders - bless your dd1 getting ecited over milk!!! i always cry at xmas!! i rem ds being SO CUTE last year when he found his stocking,it made me cry. this year it will be double cute cos i think dd1 has kind of got what is going on too!!! she will just get hugely excited cos ds will be and she has to copy everything he does!!! i am going to try ansd successfully video them this year! last year i did and then dh recorded over it!!!

quick question..............anybody elses babies have lots of blood in their snot? nice i know!!! marcy has a cold and i have noticed all her bogies are mainly blood and when she sneezes its snot streaked with blood and there is always blood on the tissue when i wipe her nose. i know she prob just has blood vessels very close to the surface but just wondered if anyone else has experienced it?

fettleandbabyfettle · 19/12/2007 17:21

Hi Everyone - just quickly wanted advice from anyone around.

In a room of around 10-11degC, how many layers/togs should Toby be under? i'm terrified of overheating him, but I don't want him to get too cold either with all these illness going around.

2.5K +VAT it's going to cost us to replace boiler (albeit with a better more energy efficient one). Just what you need a week before Christmas! but he's going to replace it while we're away, so hopefully only another 3 nights in the cold! But we've bought another heater for tonight to help.

Hi City - great to hear from you - hope all going well with you?

Greedy - can't help on the snot, but you do have lots of blood vessels in the nose, so it may be a bit irritated?

Bodkin - you're DD1 sounds fantastic. I hadn't thought of DD being able to help feed Toby when on solids - she'll love that! She's also so excited about Christmas. can't wait to get to my parent's lovely warm flat on Saturday evening!

big waves everyone else - have to go warm my hands!

hiya

greedy- dex had that blood thing- and then he got bronchiolitis... have you been using any saline nose drops? They can cause bleeding in LOs. Dont mean to panic you, i'm sure Marcy is fine, but keep an eye on it.

firsty- my DS1 was like Ty with his food... and he is still very fussy. I reckon they are what you call 'supertasters'... much more sensitive tastebuds (this is a scientific fact apparently )... anyway, I rather gave up when he was a baby and ended up giving him what he would eat cos I hated seeing him gag, and often he was physically sick He lived on banana, milk, yoghurt and porridge! Ho hum... must do better with DS2...

I am out tonight with mums from school... leaving DP in charge. Just putting a couple of bottles together for him to attempt to feed Dex with... got those 'like breast' bottles which have big squishy teats. Havent been arsed to express though, so have got some ready made formula. Fingers crossed DP can manage .

City- how are you?

Re sleeping- my DD slept through the night from 6 wks... Dex wakes at about 3-4 am and then again at 7 ish... so cant complain... I dont put him to bed until about 11pm though... 7-7 would be totally unbelieveable!

hi to everyone else xx

honeyapple · 19/12/2007 17:33

fettle- 1x 2.5 tog sleeping bag, 1x blanket, 1x vest 1x sleepsuit... should be enough??

Bodkin · 19/12/2007 21:02

Blimey, Isla must be cooking up there then... she's got vest, sleepsuit, grobag, blanket (folded double), sheet (folded double) and thin quilt thing on top of all that! But I still worry she's not got enough on as she always feels quite chilly when I go to feed her at 3ish. Don't have the radiator on in her room though, so it is bloody cold in there!

Fettle - that's a lotta dosh for the boiler - but I expect it'll be worth every penny when the central heating is pumping out!

Honeyapple - hope you have a good night out - very impressed that you're out already! I was hermit-like for the first 10 weeks! Those bottles sound good - where from? I can see I'm going to have a battle on my hands when I want to give her a bottle in the day in a few weeks time...

Greedy - can't help on your snot situation I'm afraid - isla's is just the standard bogey-green colour

It dawned on me today that Isla has finally stopped puking!!! I just noticed that the pile of muslins has been virtually untouched for a week or so. Hoooorrrrraaaaaay!

DP went to visit his mum and sisters with DD1 today and will be back tomorrow. God it is blissful having just one child to look after! Isla was in bed and asleep by 6.30 this evening, so have had a bath, done cleaning, cooked myself a nice dinner, fannied around on here for ages and now I've got a bit of wrapping to do, and a bar of Galaxy to sort out, so better get to it

fettleandbabyfettle · 19/12/2007 22:13

Yeah - finished our cards - didn't think we were going to get round to them, but they are done!!!! Always seem to send more than we receive, never do work that out as we keep track of who we send to and who we receive from!

Bodders, before heating broke Toby was in vest, sleep suit and 3 blankets - not quite sure where his sheet has gone, but his fleecy blanket is pretty soft! Since we lost the heating we've also put him in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag, so there really isn't any room in his moses basket, but there's no way he's moving out while there's no heating - my milk would freeze on the way out!!!. It does seem a lot for a boiler, but he's power flushing the system as well to get rid of the hardwater gunk and getting us a more reliable, better boiler, which should heat the house better and more efficiently (at least it better!!!). Sounds like a blissful evening you've had!

Toby is not settling as well as he has been, but as we are all feeling unwell, he is probably too (DH even skivved off work today and spent it in bed he felt so rough - of course I can't with 2 children to look after!).

BTW, he's only done 7-7 once and that was the day of his injections - normally it has been between 9-10pm til 6.30am, which is when whirlwind DD arrives and prods him saying he's not awake until he wakes up!! Although last couple of nights he's woken up for a feed once per night - might have been because he was cold though as well! His hands are like ice-blocks!

Honey - I'm off out tomorrow evening with Mums from DD's school too - first time leaving Toby in the evening. I did express this evening, but then he was so hungry, he'd sucked me dry, so then he finished what I'd managed to express, so I think i'll be leaving him with formula tomorrow evening if he wakes and through the night, as I want to have more than a couple glasses of wine tomorrow!

Right - must go sleeping - just don't want to leave the warmth of the sitting-room to do the dash through the corridor and up the stairs into our room (where hopefully our new heater has been heating up our room all evening!).

xxx

...right on the count of three I'll make a dash for it....1........2.........3........

greedygreedyguzzler · 20/12/2007 10:51

fettle - you poor poor thing! it is SO cold today! i hope you are nice and snuggly somewhere and toby is snuggled up with you.

honeyapple - we have been using the saline drops yes! maybe thats why she gets the blood! thanks. never used it with the other two and they never had any blood. hope you had a fun night with the mums! our mums night was surprisingly good!

marcy is still doing well during the night, but i dont want to tempt fate. having said that we had a nightmare the other night with all 3 of them awake at some point coughing and spluttering and all at different times.....very inconsiderate!!! i hate these colds!!!!

have put some new pics on my profile....there is an especially nice one of marcy's chins!!! she will kill me when she is bigger!!!

bodders ! wow! thats a lot of layers!!!!!! is it her hands and face that are cold or is her body cold? you are meant to judge their temp by how the back of their neck feels aren't you? mind you as she sleeps on her tummy, maybe you should check the front of her neck?! and i know what you mean about only having the one to look after! my big two are at the childminders till 2pm today and its heaven!!!! unfortunately they only go once a week for 5 hours, so my heavenly time is very limited!!! must make the most of it and do osme wrpping though! MN is dangerous for making the time disappear!

managed a hot and steamy session last night with dh! hoping for another tonight too!!! i realised that twice in a week is now a massive achievement which is a bit sad really, so this week i wanted to make it happen!! used to be twice a night and now twice a month is good and twice a week is great!!!! us postbaby women must really bring the average statistics down........isn't the average 1-2 times a week?.................sounds like a lot to me at the moment............................mind you we must have taken the average up a bit when ttc!!!! i remember this time last year dh and i were having sex every night desperately waiting for my temp to go up which didnt happen till jan 9th!!! just the thought of that now exhausts me!!

ok really must go and do some wrapping!!!

rainbowdays · 20/12/2007 11:40

Ok greedy - you have just succeeded in making me want to go home right now. Being in a different country from my dh has meant no sex for far too long. But planning to fly home tomorrow and see dh and enjoy an evening with him. I just hope he has not planned to go out for the night having had to look after the kids for so long alone.

I have sent no christmas cards this year, I feel so so so bad, but I was trying to get organised with doing our annual christmas newsletter, but with not seeing dh it means that I kept putting it off and now I just don't know that I can manage to write all the cards in one evening to post them. Oh well I think I will just have to accept the bad friend of the year award, and try to make up for it when we send out the birth announcements next year.

I am now over 24 weeks, and I am so relieved to have baby now officially viable.... seems such a milestone. At the same time I still have thoughts of oh no what have I done, how will I manage with 3 children.

I have a world gymnast in me I think, talk about sumersaults, this one is too good at it. Will be a bit happier when slightly less room I think?!?!?

Fettle - brave you with the cold, hope it is all sorted very fast.

Bodkin - great that Isla has stopped puking,

Honey and fettle - so jealous of you being able to switch to formula so easily (hopefully! if your lo's take the bottles), I will be having to get special anti-allergy formular for this little one if I need to have a night off from bf or express enough. It took me two years to work out that both of my lo's are milk protein intolerant. Should have known earlier as it is in the family history, but I was dence about it. The only formula that ds could take was the super-anti-allergy one prescribed by the dietician via the doctor. Tastes awful too.!

cityangel - how are you doing?

MrsMc - hope that you are feeling reassured by all the lovely comments on how lovely you look.

Hi to everyone I have failed to chat to this time here.

Well better get back to some work. Next time I get a chance to come back to you all I should be home.

evening all

my night out was quite fun... although the music was TOO LOUD... think I am getting old . I rang DP to check on him at about 11pm and he said Dex had been crying ever since I left which made me feel horrible... so I left earlier than I would have liked, although I couldnt stay cos thinking of Dex being miserable made me miserable! He took the bottle but it's not the same as a boobie for comfort.
Bodders- the boobie bottle is made by tommee tippee.

Fettle- maybe a couple of blankets then! Dex sleeps in a vest and sleepsuit and his sleeping bag... and occasionally i stick a blanket on top. We dont have heating on at all in the night.

firsty- saline drops help to clear stuffed up noses in babies. I think it basically slightly salty sterile water, get it in chemist. Good if baby cant breathe when feeding. Although can irritate small noses.

I have a few more pressies to wrap and then should be sorted for going on saturday...
DP has said he isnt going to come down until monday... which means I have to drive on my own with 3 kids all the blooming way- which will take about 6 hrs . Who thinks he is a meanie? He reckons he has too much work to do...

Rainbowdays- where are you??

cityangel · 20/12/2007 22:51

Hi everyone, I love reading your baby stories I have sooooo much to learn! I've been following your mum lives It's hard to keep up!

Good news for us the bleeding eventually stopped 2 weeks after the emergency scan. Its very hard to know what to expect being a first timer

I had no idea what a waiting game being pregnant is! So the next big hurdle is my 12 week scan on 11 Jan.

I have had nausea but no sickness. Am tired all the time and have been feeling a bit blue

Work and my family don't know yet. Some mates are likely to have guessed with the no drinking even when we were staying in a hotel! I am hoping if things are ok in Jan I can finally tell them...

I really hope all your Christmas go well and the New Year brings you lots of happiness

Chooster · 21/12/2007 12:04

Great news that things have calmed down cityangel and I hope you have a lovely break at christmas. All the waiting is hard isn;t it. I think these first few weeks are the toughest in terms of waiting because of the added anxiety and the fact you dont show yet and no-one really knows - it can feel a little lonely can't it. Hope the blues go soon... .

Brrrrr, fettle 10 or 11 degrees - Oh that sounds chilly - could you sneak off to your parents warm flat a little earlier? All this talk of what babies wear makes me think that maybe Theo is too warm - he wears a vest, slepsuit and a sleeping bag but his room never goes below 18 degrees - nice for me though when I need to feed him. By the way we are getting a new boiler in the new year and we are being quoted over £2k too.

Hope Marcy's bloody nose stops soon greedy? Theo has yet another bloody cold!! Grrrrrr, and didn't settle well again last night so in the end I just brought him into bed with me - out like a light!!!! - Do you think he's playing me for a fool . Anyway, gonne try saline drops tonight as he was obviously getting fed up feeding with a stuffed nose.

Hey Bodkin - how is the porrige going down??? Tho is doing really really well with his food and I think I need to be a bit more careful about how much he is taking. He's always pulling the spoon to his mouth which makes me think he's hungry - he always finished everything i've ever had out to give him. Can you over-feed a baby who gives indications that they want more??? This is a whole new territory for me as Max was a really fickle eater and still isn't fussed about food. By the way how was you time alone with Isla - was it fantastic!!!

Hi Honeyapple - Sorry to hear Dex was unsettled - any idea why? Maybe it was just one of those times when Dad just isn't the same. Good that you had a good time though! ooh, 6 hours in the car!!! When will you be leaving? We could only ever do that sort of journey in the evening as Max would be far too fidgety and pissed off. How will you manage when Dex needs to be fed? - Sorry Mr Honeyapple, but you are being a meanie . I drove both boys back from my mums (2 hrs away) on my own recently and we left at 6pm which was ideal but Theo cried and cried until gone 7pm. It was so frustrating - I had to pull over a couple of times to comfort him but it was wasn't ideal in the dark on the A1.

By the way has anyone come across babymad on here recently?

Enjoy you 2 weeks at home Firsty! It'll be lovely to have all that family time... Well done Ty for getting a few good sleeps in. Funnily enough I've been putting Theo to bed a little earlier than I normally do and for some reason he's settling so much easier and sleeping better. I think maybe I was letting him get too over-tired before I put him down.

Hey Mrs!!! MATERNITY LEAVE!!!! You must be so so pleased to be saying good bye to work - hopefully for good there . Enjoy the first few days of knowing that there is no more work to go back to after Christmas - hope you aren't too stressed though.

Right, my standard 40 mins are up with Theo sleeping so I'll head off in anticipation of the familiar squeaks. Dh has taken DS1 to the hairdressers for his xmas haircut and so the house is (at the moment) lovely and quiet.... Aaaahhhhh...

Love to all and hope you are all winding down to enjoy Christmas and not flying around trying to get everything done.

Chooster · 21/12/2007 12:06

Just remembered to look at your photo's!!! LOVELY pics greedy!!!! Loving the on of Marcy's chins .

Hope you enjoy your time at home too rainbow - you deserve some real quality time with DH and the kids

fettleandbabyfettle · 21/12/2007 14:46

Just quickly as I should be packing, but Toby is peacefully asleep on my lap, so I'm procrastinating on here!

Had a good evening last night, but like you Honey, I got home to find out that Toby doesn't like formula and screamed himself to sleep - Poor DH and poor Toby! He did sleep from 9.30pm til 5am on no food since 6pm, so not too bad really! Luckily i'd only had 2 glasses of wine so not too bad for him to have at that time. Going to have to express though if I want to get any skiing done while we're away.

Anyway, Happy Christmas Everyone! I'll try and pop on from time to time to keep an eye on those january babies in case they make an early arrival!

Hope you all have wondeful peaceful Christmasses and may 2008 bring you everything you wish for!

chooster - my dd1 LOVED her food! ate everything and wanted more! still does! she did get quite fat, but she obviously needed the food cos now she is a very tall girl but not at all fat. i measured her yesterday actually (not sure why!) and she is now 108cm!!! not bad considering she isnt even 3 yet!!! i just hope she isnt going to be like one of dh's aunties who is 6ft 3".......that is too tall for a girl isn't it?!!
ok gotta go, marcys a cryin!!

Bodkin · 24/12/2007 11:17

Merry Christmas everyone - I hope you all have lovely times with your bumps and your babies!

cityangel · 24/12/2007 14:07

Thanks Chooster and everyone

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas

I am doing my best to ignore the as hormones and am looking forward to it going hopefully in the new year.

I shall think of you and your babies or bumps under the christmas trees

rainbowdays · 27/12/2007 10:48

Hi all, hope you all had a fantastic Christmas, all smiles.

I had a 3d scan last week, and I am pleased to announce that we are having a baby boy! So baby brother for ds and dd. The 3d scan really helped with ds and dd understanding that there is a baby, it makes it more real for them. So cute.
