Who was I kidding? a night on my own, I'm not tidying, I'm surfing the internet!!! Toby never woke up back then, so suppose I ought to go to bed.

sorry, honey - I missed the news about your sister in my earlier quick scan. Poor, poor girl. Really hope she gets good news in 4 weeks time, but how awful to have to wait so long before finding anything more out.

Aah cute names!! Glad I'm not the only one!
Toby is Toby-Totter (don't ask me why!!) Shortened to Tots most of the time.

PMSL at your own special name for Isla Bodders - I bet she's not anywhere near as bad as you make out!

AHH Scorpio, that?s lovely hon! congratulations! How have you been keeping?

Greedy yah!! Kiki sounds so sweet too thanks for the vote of confidence for me and DH, made me feel better yesterday at NCT when the couple brought their baby in, the Dad changed her nappy and she started to cry and so did my DH saying he thought it was the most lovely noise in the world ? pregnancy hormones in the house must be affecting him too!

Fabby post Fettle I?m due 15/1 but I have learnt my lesson from you ladies 15/1 is just another day, Beanie may come way before or way after and I am ok with that (at the mo) not fed up with being pregnant yet! that said, I am only 33 weeks tomorrow. Hope you make lots of nice local friends soon

Bodders thanks hon how did the CO go?

Want to chat but must go and sleep a friend and I decorated Beanie?s room with the jungle stickers tonight, it was soo much fun (well for me anyway she said it was fun but could have been being polite! )

cityangel · 26/11/2007 22:44

thanks for all your lovely messages.. the test still says pg so I am hanging in there for now. I have no idea what to expect but there's little I can do other than look after myself and wait now I suppose

seaside72 · 26/11/2007 23:16

Wow everyone has been chatty tonight

Just a quick post before zzzzzz to say city - I know exactly how you are feeling -I had no obvious pg symptoms and while I had no spotting etc I had really bad period pains for a good week or so and then off and on for at least the first 3 months. I carried pads and tampons with me everywhere until the 12 week scan as I was convinced AF would start everyday! My boobs did get pretty sore in the first month but again could have been AF as well.
I had no other symptoms except spots and tiredness and the spots usually came with AF every month too (and they are still coming!!)
So stay positive, in every way, hon! Think good sticky thoughts!

Got loads more to say but keep leaving it too late to post a biggun!

Bodkin · 27/11/2007 09:42

That's good to hear that the test is still +++ City. Hang in there.

Fettle - I know, I'm harsh sometimes about my little bubba. But she is pretty hard work, and even though DD1 was a very difficult baby, Isla is in many ways harder - all the tricks I used to soothe DD1 don't work on Isla (won't take a dummy, won't take calpol, screams in the sling etc.etc.) so I just feel pretty helpless when she's howling and I've tried everything. I'm going to see the HV today to get her weighed, and have a chat, as am a bit worried that I'm losing it a bit. There's been a lot of tears in the Bodkin household over the last few weeks Thank god my DP is absolutely amazing and my DD1 is just the star of the century

fettleandbabyfettle · 27/11/2007 10:14

Oh Bodders, I'm sorry - I didn't mean anything by my post. From what yousay, she does sound like hard work, but you sound as if you are coping with her very well. I hate it when I can't comfort Toby and I'm lucky in that that doesn't happen very often, so I do really feel for you. DH/DP's are great aren't they?! Glad DD1 is being a little star for you. Don't worry about crying, I've been doing a lot of that recently. Hate doing it in front of DD as she also gets upset, but sometimes you just have to let out your emotion or else it builds up into something really big. I hope the HV is helpful today. Big hugs from us.xxxx

Right, I really must clean the house today, so i'm going to put the laptop under the sofa where I can't see it!!!

Hiya,

Greedy- yup I do call LO Dex, and Dexie and also my other kids names, and my DPs name... BTW if you have any plans for xmas shopping at lakeside let me know!

Bodders- hope the HV has some helpful advice, and that the CO works. I took my DS for CO and I definitely saw an improvement- not into a miracle baby, but into one that at least could be put down for a few minutes without screaming! I think he had at least 3 sessions?

City- fingers crossed, + test is great.

Mrs- agree with everyone else about your decision on the doula- I reckon your DH sounds AMAZING! He will so be a good birthing partner. I found that having DP just put his hand on my back was enough of a comfort and support to really reduce the pain of the contractions. I imagined his hand taking away the pain .

I'm going to take Dex to HV drop-in clinic today as am a bit worried about him. His breathing is so fast and shallow and he had bloody mucus in his sick . I think he has a bit of a temperature too.

Seaside- dont worry about postion of Dave yet... plenty of time for him to shift. No harm in sitting on a birthing ball or crawling about on all fours for a bit .

Hi to everyone else xx

Bodkin · 27/11/2007 14:43

Firsty - i just read your post very quickly and at first i thought you were saying you had had a scan and were pg!!!! Phew!

CO session was really good this time - i fed hetr whilre he was doing it tokeep her still and calm, and she actually fell asleep feeding - which is quite unusual because she is often very uncomfy after a feed. of course, that left me sitting there with my boob hanging out unable to sort myself out cos i was holding her with both hands he managed a good 30 mins work - hang on, tired baby, back in a min...

Bodkin · 27/11/2007 14:52

Just put her to bed, we'll see if she settles...

Yes, so he managed a good 30 mins work. Bit early to tell what the results are, but she does [hopefully] seem a bit more relaxed. She's just been on her babygym for a good 20 mins completely content, which she hasn't done since she was about 3 months old (6 weeks ago) He said there was a lot of tension (?) in the area around her jaw, neck, ears etc. which he has "opened out" a bit - does that sound feasible Greedy? Anyway another session in 2 weeks time (that is if I think it is making a difference, if not, we'll call it a draw)

My other result of the day is the pouch sling I ordered from Brightsparks.co.uk arrived, and she LOVES it! Hoorrayyy - a portable baby again! So much happier in it than the Bjorn (she couldn't bear all the strapping in) with this you just slip her in and away you go - so I highly recommend it. Looks very simple to make, so now my sewing machine is fixed I have promised DP I shall make him a "manly" one in camo fleece

Didn't go to the HV in the end as it's only open from 11.30 - 1pm and when we drove past on the way back from CO she was fast asleep in the carseat (also a very promising sign - never normally does that - ususally just screaming) so thought we'd let sleeping babies lie.

Well, she doesn't seem to be settling down, so off for a bit of a pat. Sorry, me me me at the mo

fettleandbabyfettle · 27/11/2007 17:13

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Bodders OC is a tranfer artist - he's simply transferred all Isla's grumpiness to my Toby!!! The one day I've needed him to be good he's screamed all day and only settled for 10-15 mins at a time, until now, when I'm shattered and could do with the excuse to just sit on the sofa cuddling him - he's sparko in his car seat still from picking up DD over an hour ago!

sorry, had a hard day today and just needed to shout at someone and you guys are the best at listening!!!

And I'm being mean, both DD and I have really sore throats, so he probably has too, so he's just unhappy from that and wanting to feed all day to soothe his throat, I should imagine - I'm sure he'll be back to his normal, happy, sleepy self tomorrow.
[DD's got her next part of triathalone training tomorrow, she's booked into gym classes, so we'll see how that goes!!)

Hope Isla stays better, Bodkins!!

Firsty - I too thought you'd had a scan were pg again!!

Honey - hope little Dex is ok? Really worrying these tiny babies aren't they!

Mrs - jungle stickers sound fab!! Making any bunting for his room?!

Good luck to those next to pop! I'd love to get that far fingers crossed!

I have an 8 week scan a week Mon if I make it so just have to be patient until then. I am feeling a bit more positive today so we'll see.

greedygreedyguzzler · 28/11/2007 08:16

OMG!!! dont have much time to post cos i am thoroughly KNACKERED!!!!! it was my stupid DH who kept me awake last night, snoring like a pig!!!! he is SO loud that i must apologise to all of you lovely ladies in case he kept any of you awake too!

fettle - wow! what a post!!! i love your settling tip from marcy's mummy!!! i kind of do that too but normally put my hand on her tummy and then hold her hand, bbut then i hold her hand when cuddling her, so i think she is used to that. you are right, if we all these things in advance it would be so much easier! i thought this time round i had made all mistakes and i would get everything right, but there are other problems to overcome instead, like not enough hours in the day to share myself aruond! dd1 is not back to being angelic she has been a MONSTER today!!! and none of my punishments or threats seem to have any effect on her! i am REALLY hoping its just cos she has a cold, if it carries on once her cold has gone i might consider selling her on ebay!

bodders - i love your 'special' name for isla!!!.....my special name for marcy is 'arsey marcy!' keep being optimistic about the CO, ........you ever know!!!

mrs!!! cant belivee your dh cried at a baby having its nappy changed!!! the most lovely noise in the world?????!!!! wait till your lo is a few weeks old and see if he still thinks a baby crying is 'the most lovely noise in the world!!!' i think its great he is so sensitive though! how will he ever cope when your lo smiles at him for the first time???!!!

bodders - i have just read your next post. i didnt realise things were so bad for you, you do a good job of making light of things. i hope the hv has some words of wisdom for you. i am sure you are NOT losing it or you wouldn't be able to rationally think that you might be!! does that make sense??? and as you know its only a mtter of time before things improve and both your daughters are stars of the century! and like fettle says .........dont worry about the crying!!!..............i cried today when dd1 wouldn't join in at her ballet class cos i know if she DID join in she would love it but she is just painfully shy. i cry over EVERYTHING!!! thats normal isnt it?
....................just read on again!!! (i should really read all the posts before starting mine!!) and seen that co MAY have been a bit more successful. i am a firm believer that babies pick up on how you are feeling too, so if you are feeling more positive about isla and are more chilled i am sure she will be, so could be CO, or just YOU!!! (or just luck!!)

fettle - don't mock the bunting!!!! i have had lots of compliments about mine!!!
honey - i might be doing a late night shop at lakeside, but it would be without any kids!!! hope dex is was ok today.

i got marcy weighed today, and its official........she's a porker!!!! she now has 7 chins to match her 7 weeks of age too!!!

i am SURE i posted my message last night! i havent been on here yet today!!!! what happened there then?!!! MN does weird things sometimes!!! unless i am completely losing the plot!!!

hiya firsty!!! is Ty still big for his age or has he levelled off a bit? he must have been off all the charts in your red book when he was born.

rainbowdays · 28/11/2007 15:10

Sorry no time to read and post, just wanted to let you know that I had my anomoly scan, now a week ahead of dates in size, with very big tummy, but he/she is doing well and everything seems fine.

I meanwhile have ++glucose in urine and am aneamic.... oh the joys of it all. But at least the aneamia explains why I had a few dizzy spells last week. I had suspected it was the case.

I will try to catch up at some point but things are a bit crazy at the moment. But I am thinking of you all.

Bodkin · 28/11/2007 15:51

Hey everyone.

First of all I have to say sorry Honeyapple that I didn't offer my sympathies to you in my last post - bit caught up in "me world" Really hope Dexter's ok - what's the latest?

Rainbowy - sorry to hear you're suffering as well.... take it easy now - easier said than done when you're an international spy (I am sitll none the wiser what you do!) with 2 kids to look after

Greedy - it's tough when your other kids are playing up isn;t it. My top tip for cajoling my DD1 out of a strop is to say "I'm going to bundle you up (get her arms and legs and squish them all up together) wrap you in paper, cover you in sellotape then write "To Grandma, [and then the address]" on your forehead, stick a stamp on your nose (lick finger and put on her nose) and throw you in the post box (throw her on bed, sofa etc.) By the time I've done that, she has usually completely forgotton about being a pain in the arse and is in fits of giggles. The only problem is she is then begging me to do it again and again....
I know what you mean about babies picking up on stress, but it IS bloody stressful when you've got a baby that cries all the time! But, she has been great today! Much more like her old self (still a bit sicky, but you can't have everything) napping really well and just more content within herself. She seems to be chewing less frantically on her fingers too - so don't know if what he has done has helped with the teething too!
I know I'm not really losing it, but the constant crying has a terrible effect on me - makes me want to hit my head against the wall, and i'm swearing like a trooper when normally I don't normally, and crying, and not wanting to get up in the morning some days. Anyway, i had a browse on the "depression" threads, and a few people have cited those things as symptoms of pnd, so I panicked a bit. But on good days (today - hooray!), I'm jsut like my normal self. Anyway, it made me think about Babymad, and hope she's ok.

Fettle - sorry Toby's not on good form today and that you and DD are poorly - I get sore throats a lot (dodgy tonsils - ought to have them out really) and I find paracetamol is brilliant as pain relief.

Anyway, I'm yabbering on again. Better go and see what DD1s up to.,..

Thanks for listening guys

Chooster · 28/11/2007 16:14

Yuk - sorry to all those who have snotty nosed kids!! Me and the 2 DS's both have colds... Only DH has escaped but its only a matter of time I'm sure and then he'll be the whingiest (sp?) of us all .

Some great posts to catch up on!!! Firsty - very that work is going pretty well, it will only get better as you and Ty feel more comfortable and settled into your routine. Are you able to see much of him in the evening? I guess the biggest issue is if you have a long commute. My cousin works Canary wharf but lives in Hertforshire so has a pig of journey home every day and hardly ever sees his so during the week. I hope your commute is tiny!! Mine is nice and short (20mins ish) so that made a big difference to me when I was full time.

Hi MrsMc - Ahhh, DH's tears! As Greedy says the crying may sound a little more harsh at 2am . Hope you are doing well!!!! Gosh 8 weeks to go and counting

Bodders - Really really hope you are feeling brighter today after 2 successes - the isla pouch sounds ace - great you've found something she is happy in . Hopefully now you can get out and about. I know you've said on here about not leaving the house much and thats got to get you down after a while, especially staying in with a cross baby... Let us know how you are - and be honest!!!!

So, its arsey marcy 7 chins is it . So how big is she now???? How did she do last night after her water??

Good luck on monday city - Have you had any more spotting? Fingers crossed for you and your DH.

Apart from the colds all is well in our house. Theo (Theodopolus hiccolopolus as I call him!!!! well he does hiccup a lot , is just fine but still wakes once or twice a night - he settles fairly quickly again though. I've also got in the habit of resting my hand on his tummy after I put him in his cot, and it does make a difference. I'll try the side of the head thing too - thanks fettle!!!! Hope Toby is a bit chirpier today!!!!!!

Congratulations on your daughter scorpio!!! Must feel quite exciting after 3 blue ones . And congratulations rainbow on a good scan for you - great news

Better go and get DS1 from nursery xx

Chooster · 28/11/2007 16:24

x'd with you bodders - great to hear that you are having a better day . It must be awful when your LO just cries and wont settle... especially after so long, but as you've said before, it will settle soon, she's getting a big girl now.

Honeyapple - I hadn't seen your original post about Dex not being well - i just scanned back when I saw Bodkin's message. How is he, poor wee guy??? And how awful for your SIL - so difficult waiting for scans / tests. Poor thing... My bf had to keep getting scanned as they suspected hydrocephalus as there was too much fluid on her daughter's brain. Each time she had to go back after another 2 weeks to measure the fluid and the waiting was so painful. Thankfully all was well in her case and I really really hope for the same for your SIL.

Gosh, really better go now

fettleandbabyfettle · 28/11/2007 20:11

Hi girls

Just quickly as toby is waking - he just put himself to sleep an hour ago though sucking his thumb - i'm liking this self-settling baby-thing!!! He woke at 2am yesterday and I ignored him for a bit then DH woke up and prodded me in the back and said aren't you going to him. I said not yet, at which point DD woke up, so DH had to go to her and by the time he was back both Toby and I had fallen back to sleep again, he then didn't wake until 4.30am!!! That's from 8.30pm - won't ever happen again, but great all the same!!!

ANYWAY... the reason i'm grumpy today is our Hot water cylinder has just been condemned and therefore we have NO hot water!!! Luckily I had a foresight and bathed the children before the man came round, so they'll be ok until the weekend and then we'll just have to plead with the neighbours! Although kettles and pans of hot water will fill a bath for littlies, DH can shower at work, so it's just me and my still unhealed epiostomy stitches to worry about!! [forgot to tell you all that I've practically got a doctor's prescription to get me out of sex for a few more weeks, as one of my stitches came out too early and the area hasn't healed properly yet - explains the discharge and pain I've been getting, but isn't great news for DH!!

ANyway.....
glad to hear work going ok Firsty

Chooster - also glad all well with you. When are you planning on weaning? Do you think it will make a difference to the night waking? don't remember it making any difference to DD though!

Bodders - so pleased Isla is more of a smiler again, must be so relieving for you. My GP said that if you don't have days when you feel you can't cope then you are not normal, it is when these days are far more frequent than days you feel normal is when to worry!

Greedy - I was surprised you were posting at 8am!!! And saying you were knackered! Poor Arsey Marcy 7 chins! how heavy is she then?

Honey? any news on Dexter? Worried now we've not heard from you today!

Rainbow - fantastic news on the scan, not so the glucose and anemia. You take care of yourself. When you home again? Work can't be more important than you health remember!

Right better go - Toby has resettled himself so I have a few more minutes of peace.

take care all and enjoy your hot showers/baths and well washed clothes! Maybe I'll pop down to you Bodders for a shower - you're nearest after all!!

xxx

Bodkin · 28/11/2007 20:25

Oh Fettle - that's such a mare for you! And poor you on your stitches - I had no idea you were still suffering "down there". Yeah, come on down and use our shower - we've got a nice big spare room with ensuite shower and loo if you want to stay over - seriously, if you want to you're welcome. E-mail me at fmjstainedglass at aol dot com

Good old Toby though - going through til 4.30... I reckon he's going to be the first to go through the night out of all our lot - he does seem to love his kip!

That's good advice from your GP... I don't feel quite such a basket case now!

cityangel · 28/11/2007 21:04

what a busy thread its hard to keep up with everyone! I feel so much support here and on ttc. Life bumbles along for us bit of discharge for me TMI still not sure what to make of it

11 days until first viability scan...

It seems dh and I have nothing better to do than go to the doctors at the moment! My referral to the dermatologist today means I need 4 moles removed in month 4 (Feb) local anaesthetic so something else to worry about

Despite trying not to tell anyone real other than you about the pg we have now told the doctor, health insurance woman, dermatologist, a policeman and 2 restaurant managers!

Yes policeman I was laughing my head off at 2 drunk women falling over a fence when I was driving home from the restaurant. He flagged me down to ask if I'd had anything to drink!

At the restaurant earlier we had a voucher to use which was almost considered a sin (posh famous restaurant special treat) we didn't use the full amount as I wasn't drinking and then they were quibbling over extending the voucher to next time!

Tonight I am going to look into morning sickness remedies. Not sure if I have it properly or not yet but I'm get waves of odd feeling mild nausea.

Its really nice listening to your kid/ baby stories it sounds quite exciting and hard work being a Mum. Still long way to go yet

Bodkin · 28/11/2007 22:10

Oooh - City - some positive signs there - increase in discharge is normal in pg, and as for a bit of nausea, well, it's got to be a good sign 11 days does seem like a million years when you're waiting to hear though, doesn't it.

I'm supposed to be internet Xmas shopping, but keep finding myself on here....

cityangel · 29/11/2007 00:29

Thanks Bodkin, good luck with the shopping.

It does seem a long time, particularly as I could find out next week but dh isn't free

What will be will be, I think the HSG must have helped me, just hope it wasn't a one shot deal.

fettleandbabyfettle · 29/11/2007 10:32

Cityangel - hope the next 11 days fly in a haze of sickness for you!!

ME ME ME ALERT!!!!!

Quick poll, how many of you would have asked for proof that your hot water cylinder had been serviced annually when you bought your houses/flats?!

Ariston won't replace our 4 year old hot water cylinder, because we can't prove it has been serviced annually and therefore their 10 year guarantee doesn't cover it?! If it lasts for 10 years, it shouldn't break after 4 years, whether it's been serviced or not, surely? Also who ever knew that their hot water cylinder needed servicing - I thought it just stored hot water? But I'm maybe naive. Anyways, we bought this house less than a year ago, so we are servicing it within a year, but how are we suppose to prove that the previous owners serviced it?!!!!

I don't want to fork out over £1000 for a new hot water cylinder.. I have a 9 week old baby who needs hot water. It is dangerous to carry kettles of boiling water around with children. POEY, POEY, POEY, POEY!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![angr y] [a ngry][ang ry][angry ][ angry][an gry]

and breathe!
There I feel better now!!

Have a good day everyone?!!!!
