It's funny how times have changed @CharlieBalf. I remember the surprise my grandparents had when my sister explained to them that she wasnt going to start weaning my nephew until he was 6 months, and that she needed to cut things like grapes and tomatoes up in case of choking. Baby led weaning seemed a crazy idea to them.

I'm very uncomfortable this afternoon. My bump feels a bit painful and very tight. Also got some back pains. Dont think its cramps or anything, just twinges. Not expecting it to be anything, just aches and pains of being almost 39w xx

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 19/09/2020 18:30

@CharlieBalf oh I know the feeling, my mil did the same brought a bumper a little duvet and like a baby duvet, I told her really sorry I can't use.. I don't think they get it and always feel like they think I'm just being ultra cautious and overreacting 🤦‍♀️

I bought a second hand only been used once Mama tens machine off eBay for about £8 (think about £60 new) and just bought new pads for £10. Anyway it's all arrived today and I've just tested it and it's amazing. I have constant backache at the minute but as soon as I put it on even on a very low setting felt instant relief. Was sad to take it off but I don't know how long is safe to keep on when not actually in labour so I'm just excited for labour to start so I can use it 😂. So I fully recommend if anyone thinking of getting x

justanothermamma · 19/09/2020 18:46

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I set up the proper cot with a set from Mamas and Papas with the bumper and stuff on with DD used when she went into it at four months. I just used the little duvet in the pram to start with last time. When DD transitioned to sides down in the cot she started using a duvet instead of a sleeping bag so everything has a use eventually, just not straight away!

I've never used anything waterproof with DD, only since she started being nappy free in the night and she's just turned 2. It's so different from last time it's crazy!

I'm going to get my Next2Me out and do some research I think on what's what now. I have got sleeping bags this time though, so much better than blankets which get kicked off every two mins!

Got given a Cosy Toes for the car seat too, why I never got one last time I'll never know! X

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 19/09/2020 18:52

@justanothermamma I love the look of bumpers etc I think they make a nursery look really lovely. I can remember years ago being disappointed (even though didn't have a baby and wasn't expecting a baby!) that when I have my first baby it's just not the done thing anymore having it all put up and ready for when baby arrived. Like I always dreamed of a cot that looked like they did in the American films 😂😂. Anyway I've just made up for lack of bumper etc with more decoration in the room! X

Spark27 · 19/09/2020 19:34

I've just been looking at tens machines after reading about your @AutumnBabyWinterMummy. I didnt get one last time as didnt seem to have that many aches and pains and was induced early. Tempted this time with the back aches and hope to stay home for longer. From reading about them they say you can use them for backache from 37w x

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 19/09/2020 20:00

@Spark27 oh does it really that's good to know, although I liked it so much I'm thinking of dealing with my aches for now and saving the excitement of using the tens for labour 😂 also like you I'm hoping to stay home as long as possible because of the birth partner at hospital situation so thought this may help x

justanothermamma · 19/09/2020 20:44

@AutumnBabyWinterMummy I've made up the big cot with the bumpers and everything and she won't be in it for months, she's not even here, nesting at it's finest 😂. Looks lush though, even if most of it will come off when she comes to use it 🙈.

LexiM · 19/09/2020 21:06

My Mum has got me a tens machine, I'm going to have a little try this week and just see how it works. The only thing I have read is that you have to use them from early on or they are less likely to have a benefit. Worth a try and I also want to stay at home as late a possible, due to hospital restrictions but also because I dont really want to be in there longer than I need to be.

Feeling quite drained today, lots of baby's limbs poking me all afternoon. I had a decent 2 hour nap though, even if the cat tried to wake me up several times climbing all over me! My DH has been so attentive the past few days, today he painted my toenails and gave me a cooling footpath. The man that said he would never come near my feet haha!

LexiM · 19/09/2020 21:07

Obviously meant to say footbath!

Treacle81 · 20/09/2020 07:55

Morning girls, slept all night without a toilet break!!! Badly needed it to try and get over this cold! V happy this morning. Cant believe I only have 2 weeks left (tomorrow) and I have to ask this w but here goes... Car seat? Obv have to now buy another one, so who had done all the hard work and can offer me recommendations? Need to clear get this ASAP. Going to assemble snuzpod today, v exciting!!! xx

Spark27 · 20/09/2020 08:14

Yay @Treacle81. I think I was the same. Slept for about 7hrs with no wake up wee break. Amazing. I'm 39w today. Eek. This is all getting real now 😅. DD has just helped me with prepping some of the downstairs baby stuff (getting nappies, wipes, etc into a carry box for the living room, etc), she was also amazed by the breast pump.
Going to get the little bouncy chair back out of the box and built as well. Leaving that up on the 3rd floor so when I'm up there with DD I have somewhere to put baby down. My friend is coming tomorrow to drop round her 3-in-1 seat thing (bed, seat, bouncer) that we will use downstairs.

Cant really help on the car seat front I'm afraid as it's been 3yrs since we got our baby one. But we're using a Joie I-gemm. Then when shes grown out of that (and too heavy for me to lug around in it) she'll be moving up to a 360° one that also goes from newborn to 4yrs. DD is in that one now but once baby needs its DD will be 3+ so we'll get her a bigger one x

blankiesandunicorns · 20/09/2020 08:27

@Treacle81 we've got a joie 360 and going to use that from birth, I know there's an issue about leaving the hospital with the baby in one but if they insist on us leaving the ward with her in car seat rather than pram then we're going to borrow a friends just for that. I need to ask my midwife how strict they are on that.

Treaclepie19 · 20/09/2020 08:54

Thats amazing @Treacle81!! I'd love a full night's sleep 😍
We've got the cybex aton m as it came with out pram bundle. I had wanted the cybex cloud z but couldn't justify the extra price when we had such a good deal.

I thought she was coming last night. I woke up with really strong period type cramps. They went off again eventually.
Just ordered a new fridge freezer for next week so that should tempt fate a little.

I love that logic about your fridge freezer tempting fate @Treaclepie19 😂

Treaclepie19 · 20/09/2020 09:37

😂 everything is linked to baby these days.

God today isn't going well. Its DHs birthday and our ds is being an absolute pain. None stop tantrums so far. He is 5 😩
Then trying to work out who on earth will have him while I'm in labour.
Maybe I should just go alone after all.

MrsK89 · 20/09/2020 12:15

@Treaclepie19 aww I feel your pain 😔 if the kids are in school ill have to go on my own.
I've got crampy stomach this morning, hungry but don't want to eat. Sounds silly but I feel like if I've had a "clear out" I don't want to eat incase I go into labour with a full stomach, because it'll just come straight out 😬
DH seems a bit better today aswel thankfully

Treacle81 · 20/09/2020 12:16

@Spark27 ahhh, not much longer now!! So exciting!! @Treaclepie19 Honestly it was so needed. hopefully help me fight off this rotten cold. Happy birthday to hubby, hopefully DS comes out of his mood soon 🤞Just went a walk and was totally fine, makes me think baby might have moved position and no longer in pelvis though as I felt light. Love getting new things lol, I just replaced my wash hand basin, washing up accessories, got new mop and brush and planning on new bed throws and a couch one xx

justanothermamma · 20/09/2020 12:57

@Spark27 Our DD is in a Joie 360 now and we have bought the Joie Elevate for her to move into when baby needs the 360. It was on offer for £40 down from £60 a few weeks a go so we bought it. It also means we can put the new baby straight in the 360 if we want to as we have the other seat ready. @Treacle81 Joie stuff is really good! The first car seat we have for baby is a Cybex one that came as part of a travel system I got with DD, so I'm unsure what they're like expense wise.

I'm so ready to meet this baby now. In loads more pain this week, no appetite at all either. We shall see! Our house is on Rightmove now so that's all very real... 😳. Eek.

Spark27 · 20/09/2020 13:00

Thanks for the recommendation @justanothermama. I'll have a look at that car seat.
We're in the same boat as you housewise. House has been on the market for 2 weeks now. Found a house we love and they accepted our offer, but they had to put it back on the market as we are still waiting for an offer. Hope you get some joy quickly. I'm trying to forget about the house that I love in case it goes xx
