Hey all! So I officially got my BFP last night, which puts me at 3weeks 3 days (I have another app telling me I'm at 4weeks 4 days) and I am due between 2nd and 8th May ❤️ I already feel super nauseous, and this will be baby number 3 (our last for sure). I was just wondering if anyone on here wanted to share this journey together - husband is brilliant but doesn't believe you can get nausea this quickly and I'm not close enough to my family to tell them just yet ☹️ so it might be a lonely journey for a little while x

@Pepsioften100 I booked straight away but I'm on medication so didn't have much choice.
My GP have me the midwife referral number who have me my appointments there and then on the phone. My first appointment is by phone with the midwife and then have my scan at just over 12 weeks.
I've also got an appointment with a specialist nurse at the epilepsy unit as well by phone same day as my first appointment with my midwife x

leftitlate37 · 21/09/2020 14:40

Hi @Pepsioften100 - i rang my GP,gave some details, they called me back and gave me a number for midwife team at local hospital. I called them, answered some questions and then got told they'd be in touch....... :s if havent heard anything by 8 weeks, i've been told to ring back. bit like you guys, i'm like okkkk now what!
@TheDaydreamBelievers dont worry i think i was on hols a few days post ovulation, had a few gins, some curry, cakes, more coffee than a costa probably serves up in a week, you name it...lived the good life for a week! we arent to know at that stage eh?! The irony being u get a BFP and then want to celebrate! Glass of water anyone!?

UnicornAndSparkles · 21/09/2020 14:40

Hi ladies.

Welcome newcomers!

I'm 8+1 today too @bethseren. I got my 12 week scan date in the post today; 14 Oct, so I'll actually be 11+3 based on my private scan dates. Wondering whether my husband will be allowed to come too. Agree its ridiculous not to allow that. But its at 8am so we would struggle to to get someone to look after DD that early in the morning. Sods law its a day when she isn't at preschool!

How is everyone this afternoon?

Feeling sick here, which is fast becoming the norm. This pregnancy is so much harder than my first!

bethseren · 21/09/2020 14:45

@UnicornAndSparkles Ahh date twins! Yeah, i'm really quite annoyed about the scan + partner rules. For most COVID rules I completely understand the logic but I just don't here and it's very frustrating.

I have my booking appointment next week over the phone and then hoping to get my scan date. I think we are going to have a 16wk private scan so my DH can see and be in the room, which will be really nice for him.

I feel so sick, all the time!

hereforallthehelp · 21/09/2020 16:19

@Pepsioften100 I sorted out Dr’s today, had to register with a new surgery so filled out forms and then kindve blurted ‘so I’ve just found out I’m pregnant, what do I need to do?’

In my area (South Wales) I’ve been given an email address and a form to submit when I’m 6-7 weeks, they will then do the 8 week appointment over the phone (not sure about bloods etc? Does anyone know what happens at the 8 week appointment?) and book in your 12 week scan after. I think I’m going to book a private too as I don’t think I can wait until 12 weeks to have confirmation everything’s ok! Hope that helps x

Pepsioften100 · 21/09/2020 16:20

Thanks all! Phoned up and booked in for midwife in October. They literally gave me an appointment date and said bye. Is there no info or questions etc until that first appointment?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/09/2020 16:26

@Pepsioften100 all I was asked today on the phone was if this was my first baby and when my last period was.

@hereforallthehelp - my understanding is that in non covid times they do height, weight, blood pressure but currently the 8week is a telephone appt only. At that, they ask about your mental and physical health (prenatal vits, your relationships etc etc). They work on assumed dates until the 12 week scan, where they can estimate better.

The way they book seems to vary dramatically by healthboard - in nhs scotland I got given both appt bookings now, which feels v strange given all I have to 'prove it' is some pee tests with 2 lines!!! Grin

MagpieSong · 21/09/2020 16:28

First appointment (from what I can remember) was mainly family history (health related), which was awkward for me as I'm an adoptee and always have to say, "I'm really not sure." Grin Also telling them who you live with, if you're a first time mum and experiences with other pregnancies, whether you smoke or drink and need help giving up, being asked about domestic abuse and physical/mental health and related medications.

In London, I phoned and got referred straight to maternity. I also asked for an appointment to book an early scan. Here in Wales I've just phone and been told I need to do the form at the GP in person prior to being referred. You can refer the moment you find out (esp if you need an early scan due to previous loss), but some services seem to say they'll call you back a few weeks later to book you in you're only in the first month. Often (first) booking appointments are around 10 weeks, so it's good to call 6-8 weeks in as they should have contacted you back and given you a date a couple of weeks before that.

My last pregnancy was pretty stressful due to a number of things alongside a big problem with hospital care, so this time I'm nervous but also steeling myself to make sure I can have a much calmer pregnancy overall and not have to change hospitals 3 days before giving birth. Anyone doing hypnobirthing? I did it last time and LOVED it, it really helped during the birth and I want to do it again this time.

ScottishLassie91 · 21/09/2020 16:28

@hereforallthehelp I'm the same, already got my appointments and now I'm like okay, so is that then til mid October lol?

MagpieSong · 21/09/2020 16:32

@hereforallthehelp, nice to have someone else also in South Wales!

Also, re bloods, I had a check-up recently (non-preg related) and got given a blood test. It was a booked time and was done in 5 minutes. I was asked to wear a mask and they took my temp on the way in to the blood clinic. I imagine they may be doing that?

hollywhooo · 21/09/2020 16:49

@MagpieSong @hereforallthehelp i’m also South Wales :)

hereforallthehelp · 21/09/2020 17:26

@MagpieSong @hollywhooo Ah wonderful - hello fellow welshies! Thanks for all the helpful info!

I think I need to wait a while until I send the form back as it says 6-7 weeks and I'm currently 4-5 (I think!) So weird just waiting around only the two of you knowing! x

Nurserycottages · 21/09/2020 18:31

@MagpieSong I'm really interested in Hypno birthing but obviously have had no experience of it! Did you go somewhere to do it or just find things yourself? Also RE skin - mine is as bad as it was when I was a teenager!!! Also my new symptom is needing to go to the toilet all the time which is not great when you're a teacher of 32 children 😂 Hope everyone has had a lovely Monday xx

PatchworkWellies · 21/09/2020 19:03

Hi all, joining the thread as I'm 8+5 today, due date May 5th. Congratulations to all you other mums to be! This will be my 3rd child and if it arrives in May, the third child with a May birthday!! So I'm kind of hoping it will come a few days early in April for a change!! Feeling a bit nauseous and tired and struggling to fit into my clothes already, everything seems to expand so much quicker each time even though I've been the same size before all the pregnancies!

Sockbabies · 21/09/2020 19:18

Hello!

Just found I'm due with my second miracle on the 9th may 2021!

Hope everyone's ok?

Sickness has hit here but I had hypermeises with my son XX

Cafeaulait27 · 21/09/2020 19:53

Hi everyone! So we just got back from the private early scan... so relieved to say there was a baby there and a heartbeat!

I thought I was 6+6 but the sonographer said I’m probably more like 5 and a half, which was a surprise. She said that because of my PCOS It’s likely that i ovulated late.

But she said everything is exactly how it should be at this stage so she was really happy. There was a nurse in the room with the sonographer and they were saying it’s one of the earliest they’ve ever been able to pick up on a scan! As usually early scans aren’t recommended til 6 weeks to ensure they can see something.

I’m so happy to have seen a heartbeat and that there was nothing untoward at this stage, obviously I know so much can still go wrong and I guess I’m slightly disappointed to not be further along because I just want to get to 12 weeks.

But it’s our first pregnancy and it was really amazing to see it there!

Does anyone else here have pcos or have ovulated late/got an earlier date at your scan? Xxx

Due date May 2021!
Rumples · 21/09/2020 20:05

@Cafeaulait27 aw so lovely that you got to see a little heartbeat! Glad it went well 😊

Littlebee1990 · 21/09/2020 20:09

@Cafeaulait27 Aww how lovely! My early scan is booked for 3rd October, my LMP dates me as 6+4 today but I was using OPKs and I know I ovulated 6 days later than I should’ve so I’ve put myself as 5+4 and booked my scan for when I think I’ll be 7+1 but if was going by my LMP and not knowing I ovulated late I would’ve thought I’d been 8+1 xx

ScottishStardust · 21/09/2020 20:09

So happy for you @Cafeaulait27 and glad everything went well at your scan.

Sorry to hear you're slightly earlier on in your pregnancy than you expected but end of the day at least baby is safe! 😀

Sansa87 · 21/09/2020 20:15

Apparently Monday’s I lose all my symptoms. 3rd week running, & again I’m in panic mode. I saw the heart beat last Thursday, but that isn’t scan calming me down, I know how much can go wrong.

Breaaaaaaathe!

Cafeaulait27 · 21/09/2020 20:20

Aww thank you everyone!! I feel exhausted now with relief xx

@Sansa87 aww try not to worry, I know it’s easier said than done. A heartbeat is such a great sign! Would you ever consider another scan before 12 weeks? Xx

Cafeaulait27 · 21/09/2020 20:26

I guess being a bit earlier also explains why I got such a faint positive when I just had a bit of spotting when my period should’ve been due. I tested on the Thursday and got a very faint line, then a strong one the following week.

I actually took another test this morning (help!) and it was a really strong line.

Sansa87 · 21/09/2020 20:26

@Cafeaulait27 I was planning on booking another scan this weekend, but so oh can see it, of course now I’m now worried there would be no heart beat.

I just have a fear we are going to have a mmc again, though we are further this time than before x

Cafeaulait27 · 21/09/2020 20:32

@Sansa87 everything crossed for you if you do decide to have one, and keep us updated. Xxx

leftitlate37 · 21/09/2020 20:53

ah wow @Cafeaulait27 that is just amazing! huge congrats, so happy for u, altho sorry u werent as far along as you thought but as above...its healthy with a heartbeat thats what u need right now!
Awww @Sansa87 please try not to get too worried, we have to be positive until we know there is a reason not to be, and nothing says you will have a MMC again. keeping everything crossed and hope u get one booked for this weekend. x
