Hey all! So I officially got my BFP last night, which puts me at 3weeks 3 days (I have another app telling me I'm at 4weeks 4 days) and I am due between 2nd and 8th May ❤️ I already feel super nauseous, and this will be baby number 3 (our last for sure). I was just wondering if anyone on here wanted to share this journey together - husband is brilliant but doesn't believe you can get nausea this quickly and I'm not close enough to my family to tell them just yet ☹️ so it might be a lonely journey for a little while x

Good luck today @Cafeaulait27 bet u cant wait! Keep us posted!
Hi to all the new ones joined :) hope u r all doing ok!
I'm still feeling soooooo anxious about how this will pan out, 6 weeks today I think. Thinking I'll get an early scan booked for 8 weeks maybe. Wondering if our local NHS trust are going to change their policies of allowing partners for 12wk appointment as it's in an area with high cases and theyve had a covid outbreak at the hospital:( we shall see!
Hows everyone sleeping?! Not had a decent night sleep for a while now my boobs are soooo sore! Lying on them is agony! Got myself a nice soft non wired bra crop top thing at a cheap shop at weekend....so much comfier, can see them being my go to now!

SH2021 · 21/09/2020 10:24

Hi all,

I have been following this feed for a few weeks so thought I'd say hello.

I am currently 8 weeks pregnant with a due date of approx 3rd May. I had my first booking in and bloods on Friday. Scan booked for 26th October so it's just a waiting game now.

Symptoms of wise, I've had sickly feeling but without being physically sick, mild cramps, headaches and awful skin. Anyone else having breakouts and know a way of managing it?

Xx

LittleTiger007 · 21/09/2020 10:24

Good luck @Cafeaulait27 for your scan today.
Welcome newbies to the group.

LittleTiger007 · 21/09/2020 10:30

Hi @SH2021, welcome! My symptoms are pretty much exactly like yours, nausea especially when I’m hungry, headaches, Lower back pains at times, mild cramps, some sharp boob pains,, a couple of sleepless nights and terrible skin! Ugh. I hate that last one. I have been using a lot of face packs to dry out my shiny face a bit but can’t use anything strong because of the baby. It’s not a good symptom, I wish I was one of those who ‘glowed’ during pregnancy.

SH2021 · 21/09/2020 10:53

@LittleTiger007 yeah I forgot about the boobs and lack of sleep haha.

As much as I hate the skin issues, I'm grateful I haven't got the sickness...yet! Really feel for those ladies who are constantly in the bathroom!

Have you had your first appointment yet? I had my bloods on Friday and never had blood tests before, nearly fainted haha

Also quite nervous for my scan. I'm really hoping the hospital change their rules before 26th Oct so my partner can be there!

LittleTiger007 · 21/09/2020 11:04

I’m only 5 weeks today (I ovulated 5 days later than I originally thought) so I haven’t made an appointment yet. Especially as I lost my first pregnancy three months ago at 8 weeks (then had procedure at 10 weeks I really couldn’t accept the loss until this point and I had just started being physically sick) ... sorry to mention that... that’s not going to happen to you and it’s not going to happen to me this time either. I’m just keeping positive and taking this a week at a time. I’m just so happy to be pregnant again so soon. 🙂

It must be exciting to have a scan booked! I absolutely agree that we need the hospital rules to change so that partners can be there. Sitting in the car outside the hospital is no good for either them or us! It makes no sense to me.

Let’s just hope things turn around soon and we won’t be giving birth with masks on!!

RiverRoo · 21/09/2020 11:07

Hi ladies, how do I access the FB group please? Xx

MagpieSong · 21/09/2020 11:22

Ugh. Phoned GP and in this area you have to go in to fill out a form to be referred to maternity services. We don't own a car (DP booked for intensive course, but awaiting confirmation) and our village surgery is shut, so we have to use the next one along. facepalm I do know and totally respect they needed to shut it to use staff elsewhere during Covid, but gosh it's annoying when everything seems to require an in-person visit. It'll be the 5th time in a month I've had to go in to fill out a form to do something that's usually done over the phone (requesting blood test result print out, needing a vacc. record for application, requesting a medicine etc.). Obviously nothing drastic at all, but a niggling annoyance when before moving here I could just phone the GP to get these things done and (in that area) we also had reliable, very regular transport. Oh well.

MagpieSong · 21/09/2020 11:24

@LittleTiger007, handhold for you. Pregnancy loss is so hard. Really hope all goes well this time. I'm 5 weeks in too, like you, so our due dates are probably similar. xxx

LittleTiger007 · 21/09/2020 11:41

@MagpieSong thanks for the handhold, that’s crazy that you have to go in to your surgery in person for all these forms! It seems counterintuitive during covid. Here it’s the opposite and it’s hard to get seen in person.

I’m not sure on my due date... but going by online I’m thinking 24th May.
Just taking it a week at a time & def hoping and praying that partners will soon be able to join us for appointments.

SH2021 · 21/09/2020 11:52

@LittleTiger007 yes positivity is the key. It's hard not to think about the risks and but I'm just taking it as I find. It's the first time I've ever been pregnant so all new to me!

Fingers crossed the restrictions change for all of us so we can enjoy it :) xx

bethseren · 21/09/2020 11:54

Hi all, i'm 8+1 today, due 2nd May.

Thought i'd say hello - nice to have support in here as can be such a lonely time! I had 2 ectopics and a miscarriage in the last 18 months so very nervous, but had an early scan at the EPU last week and all was good and normal so that's lifted my sprits.

Symptoms wise I feel awful - extreme nausea, been sick a few times, zero energy, headaches - appetite is there but have to keep eating fairly plain stuff throughout the day to help nausea. The smell of cooking / cooked food is nauseating.

Sending positive vibes to all Star

MagpieSong · 21/09/2020 12:00

Yes, it's so important to have them there for support. I think at our hospital it's still only the 20 weeks scan they can attend, but no others. Taking it a week at a time is a good idea. I'd had losses, one at 12 weeks, before I had my DS and it was a very anxious time. I had an early scan and tried to cocoon myself in things that comforted me. I'll be hoping and praying everything goes well for you.

Going in person is a bit mad at the moment. You don't really go, but stand outside and talk to someone at the door, but as others are queuing and so on, it can be tricky to adequately social distance. It's partly me being not clued up on processes here as we moved from South London to Wales (think village up a mountain where there's a high rate of welsh speaking between villagers) last summer. There's huge amounts that we love about it, (including welcoming, friendly neighbours), but the difference in accessing your own medical information and confusing/long processes aren't up there in our 'best bits' list eg. being referred to a dentist (central NHS waiting list of a year or more, can't just phone a local one with spaces). Obviously, we knew not having a car would be an initial problem, but I hadn't quite realised the difference in amount of in-person form filling needed!

MagpieSong · 21/09/2020 12:09

It should say *don't actually go inside the building, but stand outside and talk to someone at the door.

LittleTiger007 · 21/09/2020 12:16

There’s an interesting discussion on another thread about partners not being allowed to accompany pregnant women to appointments and sometimes even attend the birth.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4028737-The-NHS-is-run-by-misogynists-say-women-forced-to-give-birth-alone?pg=7

Apparently a woman on radio 4 today said that there’s a growing unease amongst those working in maternity depts as they have never seen so much anxiety amongst the new mums on wards with no visitors.

I for one am hoping people get in touch with MPs, media etc and that this campaign gathers momentum. We need this to be overturned before May.

Pinkiii · 21/09/2020 13:05

Its absolutely ridiculous you can’t have your partner at scans or well into established labour. Being pregnant is already hard and full of anxieties and that’s with a partner or someone to hold your hand.

If they are wearing a mask i don’t see why you can’t have someone attend with you. Its fine for everyone to go to bars and restaurants and gyms and basically everywhere else but for this there aren’t any exceptions?

Hope everyone is doing well! Looking forward to hearing more positive scan stories. I have decided against booking an early one so will just wait for my nhs one, seems so far away atm.

Cafeaulait27 · 21/09/2020 13:26

I read on another thread that someone was told not to bring their partner, but when they got there found that everyone else had brought there’s and was allowed in! And she was the only one who followed the rules and didn’t bring him.

So that made me think we should maybe just be a bit disobedient - just bring them along anyway and wait and see if they get chucked out.

My husband said he’s coming along whatever they say - he’s quite passionate about the matter!

I’ve seen so many petitions on this issue and I am so sad that it’s all still being ignored and the rules still haven’t been relooked at.

I have my booking appointment next Thursday so I will ask about it then. It’s not fair to have to be alone for such a scary time!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/09/2020 13:38

Hello! I just got my BFP this morning. App approximates a due date of 31st May 2021 so might join this group and a June 2021 one!

Currently just feeling excited and anxious for it to "stick"! No symptoms apart from feeling pretty hungry today!

Due date May 2021!
Cafeaulait27 · 21/09/2020 13:39

@leftitlate37 thank you!

My sleeping is still pretty bad. Plus I love to sleep on my stomach, and I’m aware that won’t be possible as my belly (hopefully) gets bigger. I don’t really like sleeping on my side but I guess I’ll have to try to get used to it!

Cafeaulait27 · 21/09/2020 13:41

Welcome @bethseren ! Hope everything goes well for you this time!!

Cafeaulait27 · 21/09/2020 13:42

@LittleTiger007 thank you for the good luck wishes! XX

leftitlate37 · 21/09/2020 13:43

Ah yeah I'm so the same @Cafeaulait27! Think I'll need to get some pillows and stuff to prop me up if sleep on the side! Always go to sleep on my tummy! Sorry your sleeping is still pretty bad. So annoying isnt it when feel like we should all be having great nights sleep to keep healthy and everything, easier said than done esp those with kids already I bet!!
Welcome @TheDaydreamBelievers and congrats how exciting! Bet u r over the moon :)

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/09/2020 13:45

Thank you @leftitlate37! I am so excited but feeling anxious too! Last week we ate so much junk food as well Blush. My husband has been joking that the pizza is what did the trick!

Pepsioften100 · 21/09/2020 14:16
