Ahh @zippityzip that’s what I’ve ordered for my 6yo DD, an “I’m going to be a big sister” t-shirt 😄

FairyLights2 · 16/08/2020 11:06

@Sausage1990 My cycles are quite long and irregular. When I went for my booking appointment, the midwife said they would just use my LMP (along with an average cycle) but when I have my first scan, they'll see how far along I really am and use that to estimate my due date. Hope that helps x

zippityzip · 16/08/2020 11:14

@Mococo1 You're right that was me, trying not to panic but it's made me feel anxious/sick.
Just chilling out at the mo - have tidied up, the kids are playing schools which is lovely and I've got a tea on the sofa.
If I wasn't pre warned about it I would be in bits.

Sausage1990 · 16/08/2020 11:23

That is helpful @fairylights2 thank you, and you too @Mococo1 😊

And yes I will be booking ASAP @Mococo1. I need to drop the new patient for at the GPs tomorrow and i've already spoken to the GP surgery and they explained that I contact the midwives myself so I have all their details. I'm going to sort it out Monday/Tuesday 😊 I'm a bit nervous tbh which is silly but having never done it before I feel a bit nervous. I also don't feel very different to normal so being pregnant doesn't feel very real right now. I know that will likely change in a few weeks but atm it's just a bit surreal lol I'm sure I'm not alone in that feeling. X

Sausage1990 · 16/08/2020 11:24

@zippityzip gosh that still must be a bit stressful even though you know what's happening and why. Try to take it easy today... Self-care is key today 😊💕

Cocoblue22 · 16/08/2020 11:59

@SmileyT that photo of the ex comment made me laugh 🤣 and yeah DH ate the Thai curry that I didn't fancy (I'm off creamy sauces and meat now) and I he went out and got me some egg fried rice and prawn crackers haha! X

@samilicious I've just had the best scan ever with WTTW I'll explain below I think they are fab. How come you're not keen on getting married? If it's just that you don't want a wedding as such you could always legally marry just the two of you then your name would change? It makes certain legal things more secure if you're married but I get it's not everyone's cup of tea just a thought if you're thinking of taking his name anyway? X

@zippityzip most men are like that I think. My DH is....always sees my point of view a few days later and realises I'm right eventually 🤣 he sounds exactly like my DH he worked loads too to 'provide' I think it's how they process it and 'do their bit' it's quite sweet really just leave him to it and just do what you can around the house and don't worry if it's not all done (you could always use some of the money for a cleaner at a later date to take the pressure off you). Just seen the spotting post....are you okay? Is it light? Are you going to ring the EPU and tell them? Take it easy I hope it stops quickly x

Just got back from our scan....little bean is growing lovely and was wiggling and waving at us and heartbeat looked good but they said they don't measure the rate. Measured at 9+6 (LMP puts me at 9+5) the sonographer was amazing I was bursting for a wee and ended up having to go pee but then with an empty bladder baby was so much clearer! Also paid £10 extra and got a little video of the scan and about 10 pictures on an app that I can download and keep which is amazing!! Feel so happy after seeing baby and that they look happy and comfy in there. About to go out for lunch now too :)

Hope everyone else is having a good Sunday x

Mococo1 · 16/08/2020 12:05

@zippityzip oh bless you I'm glad you have a potential reason though! I can imagine it's going to be scary no matter what! you have a tad bit of reassurance that it may not be anything bad!

I just hope it's over with in a jiffy so you can go back to feeling more relaxed!! You can ring EPU they will defo see you and get you a scan in - if you need that reassurance do it!

@Cocoblue22 so glad your scan went well! And that you could see little baby waving how exciting!! 🥰

samilicious · 16/08/2020 12:37

@zippityzip sorry about the spotting - at least you had the prewarning, I'm sure it will all be ok ❤️ chilling is def the right approach

@Mococo1 when is your scan? Let us know what your Window to the womb experience is like 😊 mine is a week on Tuesday

@Cocoblue22 thank you for sharing! Even more excited now 😍 on the marriage thing, I think it's just because my mum and dad didn't sell it very well 😅 and pretty much everyone else in my family. Plus the expense. But after my mum and dad divorced, my mum kept dad's surname so we were all the same so I guess that is what was making me think about the name change

Eloise27 · 16/08/2020 13:09

@Cocoblue22 So pleased you had a good experience with WTTW and that everything was ok! We’ve booked a scan with them in 2 weeks ☺️

Is anyone else suffering with pregnancy acne at the moment? I had acne in my teens and early 20s but my skin has been pretty clear for the last 2 years ago so...until this week!
I’ve got spots all over my forehead and chin 🙈 I know it’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but it’s getting me down 😌

Mococo1 · 16/08/2020 16:21

@samilicious it's next week Sunday! So will def let u know how my WTTW experience is! I hope it's good we also have baby bond in our area but I didn't go with them as more pricey for a five min scan!

@Eloise27 yes omggah so the first few weeks my skin was lovely (it's usually oily but that has gone) and I used to get a hormonal period spot every time I was due. However these past few days I got two spots on my cheek and this morning have all these little bumps on my forehead! It's like they're underneath the surface textural bumps (not sure how else to describe it!)

I've had laser to help with keeping my dark upper lip/facial hair at bay- but my hair is growing faster than ever 😩 having to wax my face every week as oppose to every month before

@zippityzip you ok love? How's the spotting xxx

@Sausage1990 good luck sorting everything at the docs! Have you chosen your hospital? it will become real for you at some point even if it's just your booking appt coming through xxx

mrsmummy1111 · 16/08/2020 17:55

Hi Ladies,

Wanted to quickly jump on and let you all know everything is well with baby. We had a great experience with WTTW (have been a few times before with DS and always had positive experiences). Lovely strong heartbeat and measuring 7+3 when I thought I was 7+2 so pretty bang on. Internal

Sorry to hear about the spotting @zippityzip but thankfully it wasn't completely out the blue. How are you feeling now?

Hope the rest of you lovely lot are doing ok. I'm off to eat my weight in curry and popadoms. Enjoy your evening everyone!

Sausage1990 · 16/08/2020 18:41

@Mococo1 No I havnt decided yet but ideally the midwife lead unit or the midwife lead unit that's like an alongside unit with the obstetric lead unit next door. But I havnt really get my heart set on too much... I'm aware I have a higher bmi, a family history of diabetes and my mam had pre-eclampsia with me & my twin so I've got a feeling I may be a higher risk pregnancy so I'm guna see what happens closer the the time and go with that. I don't want to get ky ehart set on something and then be told it isn't a safe option so I'd rather keep my options open 😊

Mococo1 · 16/08/2020 21:04

@Sausage1990 fingers crossed it's all okay for you!! 🤞🏽Think we all have our ideals but when it comes down to it isn't always the case..got a feeling il be the same lol

@mrsmummy111 yay congrats on a really good scan 😬 always love to hear these positive stories

Nausea has disappeared again only a week to wait until the next scan 🙃 gna seem like a lifetime at this rate!

blodyn91 · 16/08/2020 22:11

Finally home after my nieces 1st birthday party, ate way too much so went for a 15 min run in the rain when I got home 🙈 told my parents and brother and sister. All very shocked! Basically all joking about me having a baby now 🙈 and Im also starting to think What am I doing! I'm just not your usual mother type- I cant hold newborn babies coz they scare me.
Mum said she was the same. So I know I'll be ok. But its starting to sink in and it does terrify me a bit. So has anybody got any good book recommendations for a first time mum? 😬 Sorry bit of of a melt down post! Doesn't help that my boobs hurt when Im running so can't go out for a long run to clear my head either 😣

Loving all the scan photos!!

Sausage1990 · 16/08/2020 23:01

Hi @blodyn91 don't worry about your freak out, I think it's normal haha. I don't have any book recommendations as I will need them too lol but my SIL recommended Your Baby, Your Birth for birth preparation which is about hypnobirthing & positive births.

How did you tell your family? How many weeks are you now? When are you getting your 1st scan? God so many questions sorry. I can't keep track of everyone's details lol

Hope you're feeling calmer - you can do this 💪🏻

MrsEmilyB · 17/08/2020 07:54

Hi Ladies! I am SO excited to be joining this bus! Got my BFP yesterday and confirmed today! Praying for a sticky bean. I recognise some names here from previous busses; I hope you are all doing well 💖 haven't told DH yet!!

@samilicious I used to have a fiat 500 I loved it 🥰 we are looking at a golf, Volvo v30 or DP has an old Range Rover that he's had at him mums so he doesn't know whether he wants to spruce that up (I'm against this option, my ex had a Range and I hated it, not ideal for somebody at 5ft1 especially trying to carry a car seat 🙈)

@Mococo1 my nausea has pretty much gone now apart from first thing but think I'm just hungry 😂 try not to associate it with a positive pregnancy as so many people have symptoms and pregnancies that don't progress and others have pregnancies that lose symptoms and have healthy pregnancies x

@Sausage1990 just to let you know I'm not registered with a GP local to me, I just self-referred to hospital and it wasn't an issue, but sound like you are sorted anyway. NHS don't really care about cycle length in my experience and they'll just date you at scan and rescan if too early/ late x

@zippityzip has the spotting stopped? x

@Cocoblue22 @mrsmummy1111 yay to successful scans and yeah one tip for anyone having abdominal scans you don't need to drink to bursting a glass 30mins before will make for a clear scan in my experience 👌🏾

@blodyn91 haha you are so much like me, if I'd ever eaten too much I'd have to balance it out with exercise 🙈 completely off that now though. Positive birth book is supposed to be good, haven't ordered any yet though just patiently waiting until my scan to fill the house with baby stuff 😂 i have booked my antenatal classes though as they were nearly sold out for March babies already x

I've just got to work, I have a mental day and I'm already exhausted, wish me luck ✌🏾

zippityzip · 17/08/2020 08:03

Hey all thanks for asking - the spotting has calmed down. Just a tiny bit left when I wiped this morning so hopefully that's it for now.

@blodyn91 I majorly freaked out when having my 1st, and I just thought to myself, I know plenty of idiots that have procreated and managed to raise their kids so I stand a good chance!! Honestly, you'll just get it. And you parent how YOU were brought up.

Welcome @MrsEmilyB congrats on your BFP!

@mrsmummy1111 Your baby has the cutest head!! What a lovely scan. @Cocoblue22 so glad yours went well too!!

SmileyT · 17/08/2020 08:07

@MrsEmilyB woo 🙌🏾 I don't know how people keep it from their OHs I just can't keep a secret, so told him about 10seconds after I tested (and he told me that I wasn't allowed to tell the internet he was having a baby before him 😂) also about referring; you can do it whenever you're ready. It depends on the nhs trust for procedure but for me, I didn't go through GP I just picked my hospital and they have an online form, then had booking appt (questions about you and OH medical history) about 3/4weeks after BFP and then first scan booked for 12 weeks 👌🏾 x

Sausage1990 · 17/08/2020 08:11

@SmileyT oh that's good to know actually because I want to call the midwives but wasn't sure as I'm not registered yet. Gota hand the forms in today but I think I'll call them and just say I'm in the process of moving GPs but live locally. That's super helpful 👍🏻 hope your day goes okay, a busy day when you're already knackered really sucks.

@zippityzip ohh I'm so glad the spotting is coming to an end. Fingers crossed that will be the last of it because no one needs thay stress even if you know to expect it.

@MrsEmilyB welcome!!! So good to se you here. So how are you planning on telling DH? Do you have a creative way in mind or just going to tell him with the test?

@blodyn91 how are you feeling today? Hope you're feeling slightly less panicked and overwhelmed 💕

MrsEmilyB · 17/08/2020 08:22

@zippityzip thank you 🥰

@SmileyT not telling him yesterday was so hard! But I was spotting so I didn't want to get his hopes up. No spotting this morning so hopefully that's just implantation. I am planning to rush off after work (I finish before him) to "pick up his anniversary present" before pilates. Nothing exciting as I think he's already suspicious but I'm gonna pop into Next and grab a babygro and some tiny shoes and pop them in a box with the tests. I'll probably write him a little note too - something about my boobs getting even bigger as I can't be serious, ever 😂

MrsEmilyB · 17/08/2020 08:22

@Sausage1990 I meant to tag you in the above too but didn't! Sorry! Head is all in a tizz

Sausage1990 · 17/08/2020 08:34

@MrsEmilyB ahhh that's a nice way of telling him. When do you think you'll tell your families? It's my MIL's birthday on Friday so we're going to tell DH family then... We're going to get her a Nanny Card and inside say from us and baby (coming April 2020). We're telling my family on the weekend and I don't really know how yet but I'm shitting myself still.
We decided to tell parents & siblings around the 6 week mark but not tell anyone else until 12weeks. As it's MIL birthday we're doing it a few days earlier for them.

Did anyone tell their parents or in-laws in a nice way thays not too over the top? Any ideas on how to tell my parents are welcome lol

MrsEmilyB · 17/08/2020 08:45

@Sausage1990 well, I'm planning on us going for a viability scan early Sept - so around 7 weeks. His parents are away that weekend and hopefully we'll be able to persuade them to come over for dinner or a coffee or something. I've seen a super cute babygro on Etsy which says "prepare for a GRAND adventure" (it'll be their first grandchild) so I'm thinking I'll buy that in a week or so and pop a scan picture in too.

The nanny card is such a lovely idea 🥰🥰 best birthday present ever!!

Trying to work out my EDD? I always ovulate late; day 19 ish so counting from last period probably isn't reliable

Mococo1 · 17/08/2020 09:01

@SmileyT I can't help it though I'm actually always on edge does anyone have any calming advice for me?😩 my fear is defo in the way of enjoyment but understandable in my eyes just wish I was throwing up everyday as reassurance but know I would be complaining if I was lol so it's a lose lose

Im too scared to tell anyone/ even talk about it unless it's this group! I wake up with a Headache every morning but think that's because I sleep so much these days

What's this about antenatal classes (I haven't even thought about this!)

@MrsEmilyB congratulations! Welcome to the group is this your first? I used the NHS calculator to do mine based on estimated cycle length Xxx

@zippityzip just breathed a huge sigh of relief for you glad the bleeding has stopped x
