baby show NEC Birmingham is end of November, Christmas market will be up as well! ⛄❄️🌯🍵☕ just asked OH he sayod No... ill book tickets anyway 🤣🤣 good to do Christmas shopping as well

mrsmummy1111 · 13/09/2020 08:17

@blodyn91 Don't ask questions you don't wanna know the answers to 🤣🤣🤣

No if you do it sensibly and don't buy unnecessary things, then it's doable. If I listed all the pointless shit we bought the first time around I'd be here all day. But there are also LOTS of cheaper alternatives to the expensive branded stuff.
For example: We got a snuzpod (a crib for next to the bed) which was brill, but a £30 crib does the exact same job it's just less convenient. I breastfed and plan to again, so being able to slide baby out from the crib right into the bed (my boob) was worth the money for us.
The baby bjorn bouncer was a GODSEND, but the £15 one we got from Argos for my mums house did the exact same thing - just less pretty / durable.
I personally think cots and nursery furniture are much of a muchness, you don't need them to last forever even if planning to use for more than one baby, the only thing I would invest in is a decent breathable mattress as that's the important bit.
Don't get an expensive monitor, they genuinely all do the same thing. We ended up getting rid of our expensive one in favour of a £30 camera from amazon which connects to our phone / iPad / amazon Alexa etc instead of having to carry around a monitor which we found a lot more convenient. It also means when family babysit and we go out, we can quickly log onto the camera and check on the baby.
I could go on and on, but if you're considering something and aren't sure if it's worth the money, just ask on here and we can all advise what we did / didn't find useful xx

Bl0ndi3 · 13/09/2020 08:24

@blodyn91 ooooh the Birmingham one is end of November, interesting! That's not too far from me just a bit down m6. I'd be beyond 12 weeks then still too early to buy stuff but tempting, very tempting 🤣

My OH left for work at 6:45 I've been awake since then. I've literally spent all morning on mumsnet looking for old "newborn essentials" threads and then making lists on my notebook app that I use to store all my baby stuff thoughts haha!

The general jist I've gotten is don't buy everything, just the actual stuff you need to keep a baby fed, clean and can transport them in and they can sleep in and then get amazon prime to order the rest as and when and wait for the gifts haha with very basic clothes again for the gifts.

Mococo1 · 13/09/2020 08:58

@Bl0ndi3 if you want to share please do 🤣 so much to catch on this threa!!

@SmileyT nap always wins👍🏽 DH is still hell bent on silver cross so will need to go shopping one day to change our minds...Might go to the London baby show too - seems a bit early to buy stuff for the one in Oct but (I can see there is one in London excel for feb 2021) might be cutting it a bit fine a month before my due date 😫

Thank you everyone for the advice/pram chat! Tbh I need to catch up on the thread but so many good suggestions on here! 😬

@Cocoblue22 I didn't know they weren't pram compatible! @mrsmummy1111 will defo look into an amazon baby monitor then!

Not sure if anyone's interested but I saw a bedside crib in lidl mag for like £60 this week and it seems like it does the same as snuzpod/Chico/cozee although I think it's too early for me to buy and I know all Lidl's won't stock but DH said we could have a look if need be- if I see a pic il post on here for anyone who is interested!

Told my parents yesterday and they were absolutely over the moon! They had no clue and they said it was the best 40th anniversary present I could have ever given them..dad even got a bit teary!

Mum said that my bum has gotten bigger(it's not massively huge may I add)!? She just didn't want to imply I had put on weight as she thought I would get offended 😂DH (rather happily) and my sisters (over ft) have also commented on the growing size of my dierriere - anyone else have this 🙄 I'm defo not got a rear facing uterus so not sure what that's about lol!

both my parents understood where I was coming from but are just glad I've made it this far and that my mental health is way more important than anything else ❤️ they are just so happy and already planning on spoiling us as they said with their kids' first children they bought everything (pram, nursery sets, sterilisers etc) so cue the grandparents war 🥺🙄! Will be telling in laws today - hope it goes well!

DH said his mum will be super upset (and has been bugging him saying she will be if we are and haven't told her) so he knows as we didn't tell her before the 3months a comment might be coming. Hope doesn't dampen things if does- but let's hope she is just over the moon if anything! X

Sorry for the long message and welcome @Maybe333

@Mustbemad82 hope you are okay but it's good you are getting checked for reassurance❤️ can imagine this little one is taking you on one hell of a rollercoaster! Xxx

Bl0ndi3 · 13/09/2020 09:36

Top is 10dpo
Bottom is today at 12dpo

Annoyingly I can't test with actual FMU because I'm waking up in the night to wee so my urine is never concentrated enough I'm actually better off waiting until the evening and testing I think!

Today's test was taken with my third wee of the morning at 9:30 (previously at 3:55 and 7:00) so I think it might've been stronger had my urine been but I think I see a difference? Not as big a difference as i would like though....

Will get 2 more today and test either test again later today and then Tuesday or tomorrow and then Wednesday and I'll switch to my clear blue weeks to aim for 2-3 and 3+ after that. Once I have done those I'll stop POAS! Honest!

Summer '20 Grads ❤️
Mococo1 · 13/09/2020 10:04

@Bl0ndi3 I defo see an obvious difference and bet it would be even more noticeable if it wasn't your third wee of the day xxx 😘

Bl0ndi3 · 13/09/2020 10:14

@Mococo1 thanks honey I think I'll pick up 2 more and won't waste one taking another today and instead tomorrow and Wednesday - I really wanna see a stupidly dark test line haha

SmileyT · 13/09/2020 10:17

@mrsmummy1111 did you find the snuzpod convenient for travel or did you get a separate travel cot? x

@Bl0ndi3 progression looks great, I wouldn't bother doing another test today just test again in a day or 2 to see more progression 🙌🏾 as long as you test at the same time it doesn't really matter if it's FMU, SMU will actually be stronger anyway if you haven't drunk in between it's not diluted even though it looks lighter ❤️

@Mococo1 I might see you at the baby show then 👋 I'll be 2weeks off due date on the feb date so I hope ive got the big stuff by then 😂 so glad it was positive telling your parents. I went to mine yesterday and my brother, his kids, my grandad, aunt and cousins were there (pre-lockdown changes gathering) and it was so tempting to spill but I resisted - hope it goes well with the in-laws, even if there is a comment you know they'll be happy so take it with a pinch of salt x

@Mustbemad82 yes I had brown spotting on wiping whci mentioned to the gp but as I wasnt having pain and I was having a scan the next day she told me to wait and see, then at the scan we saw baby's heartbeat for the 1st time and all looked well. The spotting stopped and uve not had any since (so far) & hopefully I won't have any again. If I do though I'll call for advice again. I think it's important to ask for advice every time you get spotting. It's not worth the risk or the worrying about the unknown. I hope you're doing okay lovely. It's been a real roller-coaster hadn't it. 💕

@Mococo1 awww I'm so glad you've told them and it went well. I knew it would but its always nerve wracking when you know they have no idea. I havnt noticed any changes my my bum haha all I've noticed is my tummy is quite bloated and I find it hard to hold it in, and that my leggings, jeggins and tights just feel uncomfortable sitting across my stomach. They are a bit tighter from the bloat but I find them uncomfortable in general... Anyone else find that? Nearly 9 weeks and things are just feeling different even tho I look exactly the same. Xx

mrsmummy1111 · 13/09/2020 10:23

Great progression @Bl0ndi3 but agree don't bother doing another one today. You'll just panic if it's not as strong but you've no reason to worry.

@SmileyT It totally depends on where you're travelling to. The snuzpod base is wooden so not easily transportable but we went for a weekend away in the UK and took the top of the snuzpod with us which worked great. But on holidays abroad we have always chosen baby friendly hotels / villas etc and they provide cots there so we haven't ever needed a travel cot.

Catherinettc · 13/09/2020 11:01

@SmileyT can I change my eldest to 19th May? My digital progression was too quick so decided to go back to my ovia app and I counted my lmp wrong 🤦‍♀️ it was in fact 12 August and not 14th.

I'm blaming baby brain already 🤦‍♀️🤣🤣 makes all my tests etc add up properly now xx

Bl0ndi3 · 13/09/2020 13:23

@mrsmummy1111 @SmileyT Thanks ladies I bought 2 more and I'll save them for tomorrow (13dpo) and then Wednesday (15dpo) after that I'll switch to the weeks tests do those a week apart so I've best chance of seeing that progression.

Been to next before as my best friend works there and I've already told her so I have some support should I need it. We ended up walking around the baby clothes section, picking out everything I like haha she wanted to know what I liked so when the time comes she can buy me stuff in the sale haha ❤️❤️ it was nice actually and made me so excited

OH working today til 6:30 so having a nice chill after some lunch and might enjoy the sunshine and walk the dogs soon. Hope everybody is having a nice day!

Mococo1 · 13/09/2020 14:51

@Sausage1990 thank you! My size ten leggings are a bit taught but I have some in 12 and a pair in 14 that seem to be fitting okay at the moment! I defo felt that way after 8 weeks so I think it's normal..my boobs are also Fuller as I would like to say 🤣

@SmileyT defo will take it with a pinch of salt- I know they will be over the moon though- I'm actually here now but my SIL has popped out so waiting for her to get back before we spill the news 😂

My stomach is turning I'm so nervous and feel sick but not sure if that's just preg related lool- Yes maybe see you at the show!! Btw as we approach a new bus soon my my EDD from last weeks scan is 27th March now 😘 hopefully won't change anymore at my dating scan!

Mococo1 · 13/09/2020 14:51

@Bl0ndi3 aww that sounds so lovely! We went to get groceries at tescos and I kept eyeing out the baby section clothes were too cute!!! X

Bl0ndi3 · 13/09/2020 15:10

Oh and as this will be my chance to actually be featured on the first post in the next thread I'd say my EDD is 25th May 2020 😂 @SmileyT

FairyLights2 · 13/09/2020 16:46

Hey ladies, I had my scan today! Thank you @mrsmummy1111 @Mustbemad82 @Cocoblue22 and @SmileyT for your suggestions! =) I knew I ovulated late, so my dates weren't exactly accurate. I'm not 12 weeks but 11 weeks and 3 days. The baby had a heartbeat and everything looked fine except his bladder was full (we keep referring to the baby as his because DH only has male siblings lol).

The sonographer was really lovely. She did ask me to take my trousers off and do an internal scan, so she could see the baby a bit clearer because I have a tilted womb. She did ask me to come again just to make sure baby empties his bladder fine. I was on the cusp of normal but she'd like to double check. I did drink loads an hour before and by the time I went in for the scan, I was ready to burst. Although, she said not to worry, I must admit I'm a little worried. Hopefully, baby does empty his bladder and everything is fine. If anyone has experienced this before... any tips would be appreciated.

Overall, the experience was very pleasant.

mrsmummy1111 · 13/09/2020 17:27

@FairyLights2 congrats on another successful scan! What's your updated due date?

Funnily enough I have a very good friend who's baby was diagnosed with a urinary tract abnormality at the 20w scan, she had extra scans to see how things were progressing and it was evident in the extra scans, however when the baby was born more tests were done and the issue had actually fixed itself and nothing needed to be done. Which is apparently very common. My friend was petrified but everything worked out absolutely fine. From what I can gather, most minor kidney / urinary tract function issues detected prenatally have a high chance of fixing themselves before baby is born. So if they do detect anything, it doesn't necessarily mean the worst ❤️

FairyLights2 · 13/09/2020 17:47

Thank you so much for the reassurance @mrsmummy1111 That really has made me feel better ❤️ The sonographer did tell me not to worry because I was right next to what's considered 'normal' just 2mm out. But I'm just such a worrier in general, so thank you for that! I just let a huge sigh of relief lol =)

My new due date is 1st of April x

blodyn91 · 13/09/2020 18:06

@Sausage1990 yes, im having to stop wearing my leggings, blaming my bum along with @Mococo1🤣 Been in shorts all day today and felt wayyy better. Not sure what to do really as I live in sports clothes when wfh, so might just buy some cheap ones for now as I definitely don't need maternity yet. My bras are also too small 🙈 so sport bras and cheap Primark braletts it is.

@fairylights2 was that your first scan? Sorry I can't help with bladder question but sounds that its not a big issue 🥰

Sausage1990 · 13/09/2020 22:37

@blodyn91 @Mococo1 I'm glad I'm not alone in my clothes already feeling uncomfortable. My tummy just feels. So tender and bloated. Also anything along my knicker line is really uncomfortable after a short while. Just feels wierd. I think I'll just size up for now with cheaper items like leggings and tights... Definitely too early for anything maternity 😂

zippityzip · 14/09/2020 06:39

@FairyLights2 We are due date twins!!

Mustbemad82 · 14/09/2020 06:49

Ladies I heard yesterday that primark are doing a cheap nursing range and maternity range

@blodyn91 ASOS do a decent maternity sports range too
I’m a weight lifter too and Just live in leggings and a vest!

zippityzip · 14/09/2020 07:31

@Mustbemad82 whaaaaat primark doing maternity!??

Sorry ladies had a MENTAL weekend and things with me and DH are quite fraught which was unexpected. So been stressing slightly. But I'll catch up today in between work.

Busybee143 · 14/09/2020 08:27

Hello guys sorry I've been a bit quieter than normal over the last few days but I've been toying with the thought of airing my thoughts and feelings currently. For the last three or four days now my nausea has massively subsided, my boob pain is barely there and overall I don't feel too bad at all. I'm proper freaking out because last time I miscarried I lost my only symptom (boob tenderness). I can't help but shake the horrible feeling that something is wrong, I know I should enjoy my pregnancy here and now but I'm really stressing so much I could cry. I don't know what to do for the best. Last time I miscarried at 7+6 and I am 7+4 today but I'd been spotting for a week ish last time.

mrsmummy1111 · 14/09/2020 08:43

So sorry to hear you're having a hard time @Busybee143 - is there any way you can get a private scan done just to check how things are going and try to put your mind at ease? I was having these feelings last week and just couldn't shake them so managed to find a private scan for the next day. It may seem irrational but it was the only way I could think of to get some answers otherwise I'd have just sat there stressing and wondering.

@zippityzip Is everything ok? Sorry things are fraught, but if it makes you feel any better - DH & I had two huge barnies yesterday and he's gone to work today without either of us talking to each other. He did this my last pregnancy and blamed me for being over sensitive when pregnant (which I am, but that's not the reason) - he just acts like an arsehole then excuses it by saying it's because I'm pregnant and sensitive. So I told him to F off. So just know you're not alone!!
