@Workingmama1 it sounds positive that you’ve not had any more bleeding 🤞 will be thinking of you and hope you can get checked out swiftly on Monday!

Smilingdonkey · 19/09/2020 17:30

Thinking of you @workingmama1 - that must have been terrifying. But it doesn't sound good that it just stopped. I reckon likely to be something benign . I have had friends bleed for days in a pregnancy and it all be fine 😊 xxxx

Sorry I have been so absent - work has been so busy and I've been so tired! I do try and catch up regularly but don't always get time to reply and by the time I do the thread has moved on!

I'm also having very odd dreams! I wonder what the science is behind it? They are so vivid!

I'm 16 weeks tomorrow and I think I felt a couple of flutters but can't be sure!!

My midwife was meant to come for my 16 week appointment today at 9:30 but didn't show up because she is off sick and nobody bothered to tell me 🙄 I only found out because at 11 I texted the student midwife she works with. I can't help but think if they didn't faff around with home visits I could have at least been physically checked out by another midwife and would have got to hear the heartbeat 😔 I was really looking forward to that. Now it looks as if they'll do it on the phone. I haven't even been given my notes yet (long story) - not massively impressed. It was better before this whole 'continuity of care' scheme if you ask me!!! Last time I saw a range of midwives but they were all fantastic and very efficient! Mine is lovely but it all seems very chaotic as she has to go to births all the time and so cancel appointments!

Hope you are all well xxxxxx

DanceM1 · 19/09/2020 18:27

@Smilingdonkey thats a pain! I must say mine have been great so far... different people every time but great. They didn't listen to the heartbeat anyway though at my 16 week appointment.. do they still do that where you are?

bubblybon20 · 19/09/2020 19:29

Sending hugs @Workingmama1!

Is there any new bump pictures yet?!
Mine seems to have appeared the past week or some 😱

ew1990 · 19/09/2020 20:01

@bubblybon20 mine hasn't changed since the last time I posted a couple of weeks ago. I'm thinking it's mostly bloat too as its it's a nice little bump in the morning then by nightime I can't bend down 😂😂

RosieJess91 · 19/09/2020 20:13

Hope everything is okay @Workingmama1 😕
I've had a bit of a rubbish day, been feeling awful all day, and I've been laying in bed most of the day.
But I am going to be Step-mother of the Bride, how mad is that? My step daughter is getting married. I'm only 29 🤦🏼‍♀️
My mum popped over with some ginger oil for me, which seems to have worked a bit.

Workingmama1 · 19/09/2020 20:19

@Smilingdonkey how annoying she just didn't show! I think my area has switched to names midwoves too, i was told who moke will be (but not how to contact her) at my bookong appointment.

Still no more fresh blood which I'm taking as a good sign. I still feel pretty awful, I've struggled to eat today which probably isn't helping!

Also still got an elevated temp which could be adding too it. If it spikes above 37.8 then scan on Monday will be off until I can get a test which sucks. Covid has a lot to answer for! Especially as they just essentially refuse you entry if you have symptoms, even if they should be investigating them (normally bleeding and a fever would be urgently investigated!). My husband was so ill back in June after an op with an infection but they waited 36 hours to see him until he had a negative test.

Workingmama1 · 19/09/2020 20:21

@rosiejess91 hope you start to feel better soon! I've also been a step mum at a wedding (but for the groom my husbands son). I'm also a nana twice over!

RosieJess91 · 19/09/2020 22:16

@Workingmama1 I'm nana as well to their little boy. It's a bit crazy to think that my grandson will be older than their own aunt or uncle! Age gaps are crazy when you really think about the differences. Me and my step daughter were both born in the 90s, and there's 7 years between me and her, and 7 years between my other half and my dad!
But he doesn't behave like a 44 year old man, not that my dad acts his age either 😂
And I've always acted older, my mum always said I was born in the wrong decade.
Hope you're feeling okay, wondering whether you have a UTI on something, a few other mums on FB have had bleeds that have turned out to be UTIs, might explain the elevated temp too. My fingers are crossed for you 💗

Pugprincess · 20/09/2020 01:01

@Workingmama1 I’m glad you have managed to get something booked, shame you have a wait 😩 are you getting brown discharge now? I’m still having that. I suspect mines still bleeding slowly. I googled hematoma and it’s one of the subchorionic bleed things I seem to have heard a lot about.

@Smilingdonkey how annoying when you have been looking forward to something. Do they use a Doppler thing so you can hear heartbeat?

Pugprincess · 20/09/2020 01:04

Ah forgot to say I’m negative for covid 🙌🏻 Back to work tomorrow, scary though as been 6 cases at school and 5 of those are staff. I’m going to wear full ppe, mask visor gloves and apron and spend time doing any jobs outside the room so I’m not cooped up with the class. We always have doors and windows open for air too. And I’m not using staff room anymore il sit outside when dry or go to my car lol. X

Sakura54 · 20/09/2020 07:11

That must have been horrible. Hope the bleeding is nothing @Workingmama1

@bubblybon20 I’m sure they’ll be doing your health checks the same time as your scan. Can’t just leave you. I mean I hate peeing in a pot (lol) but it’s important as infections are common. In fact mine is being sent off for testing as there were traces of something and I have to call in a few days to see if it’s ok.

I was also going to ask how everyone’s bumps are looking. Any pics? 17w now so mine is definitely growing but still can’t tell in pics.

I don’t mind not having extra scans but would be good to have more appts just to be monitored like a FTM. How would I know if my blood pressure was low/high, for instance. At least I have a random 19w one so let’s see if I really do have to wait until 28w!

FYI - Just in case any of you are eager like me lol, it’s best to wait until 20w to get your whooping cough jab. I tried at 16w as that’s when you can do it, but the nurse said there’s no rush and just in case dates are a bit off, I should wait. I told her I’ll pop back when I come for my next appt. No flu vaccines available at my hospital yet but I know they’re available elsewhere so I’ll probably go somewhere else. You’d think they’d prioritise the maternity department but who knows how it’s distributed. Anyone had theirs yet?

OP posts:
bubblybon20 · 20/09/2020 08:25

@Sakura54 I had a text message about my flu jab, I was hoping I could get that and the whooping cough around the same sort of time 🤷🏻‍♀️ who knows. Need to ask the midwife when she phones on Thursday.

Smilingdonkey · 20/09/2020 08:49

@dancem1 and @pugprincess I just assumed they would as they did at every appointment with my daughter 🤷 I would have kicked up a fuss if they hadn't ... My anxiety is back. 12-20 weeks is such a long wait 😩 xx

DanceM1 · 20/09/2020 08:50

@Sakura54 my flu jab is booked for next Saturday. Midwife said at my 16wk appt to book whooping cough for the same time. Doctors said I cant because of covid and I have to to the day before?!? So I am having it on Friday. Ill be 17 weeks.

DanceM1 · 20/09/2020 08:52

@smilingdonkey maybe i should have asked. I have heard the heartbeat at a private scan but would have been good to check it again!

bubblybon20 · 20/09/2020 09:01

My bump has appeared suddenly! 17+1 today. 🥰

Smilingdonkey · 20/09/2020 09:04

@pugprincess I'm glad you are covid free 🤞 you don't catch it at work ... The correlation between schools going back and an increase in cases is fairly obvious to me ...

Poppy10121 · 20/09/2020 09:25

@Sakura54 I had a text from my drs that flu jabs were ready but then when I rang them they said they are prioritising over 65s and everyone else has to wait til October! I think I’ll just pay to get one at Boots.

@Pugprincess that’s great news that you’re Covid free, scary so much if it going around at the moment. I’m wondering when the next lockdown will be, surely they can’t keep everything open with cases going up like this...

SkyBlue20 · 20/09/2020 09:31

Morning all!

@Smilingdonkey Sounds so frustrating about your midwife! Hope you do manage to get seen in person.

@RosieJess91 Sorry you’re feeling so rough still. Exciting about being step-mother of the bride! Age gaps are crazy indeed - our baby’s uncle (my half-bro) will be 7 when baby is born and it’s auntie (my half-sister) will be 4! They’ll be more like cousins.

@Workingmama1 Glad there’s been no more bleeding, it sounds promising. Hope your temp stays below the threshold 🤞🏼 Not long to go now until your scan.

@Pugprincess Yay to the negative test, that must be a relief! 😅 How’re you feeling?

@Sakura54 My bump is coming along but still just look like I’ve put a bit of lockdown weight on 😂 FTM mum though so believe it can take longer to pop. Will try and get a pic later!
I’ve not heard a thing about my flu or whooping cough jabs, got my 16 week appt on the 30th so will ask then.

@bubblybon20 What a lovely bump!

Another horrible dream last night. I think they may be worse when I’m stressed at work. Got a couple of days off at the end of next week as we’re going away for a few nights (lockdown allowing) so hopefully I’ll sleep peacefully then!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend 🥰 xx

Workingmama1 · 20/09/2020 10:07

Morning ladies

No big bleed overnight which is good. I actually woke up feeling quite positive but a fair bit of brown still when wiping, and if seems 'wetter' if that makes sense? So now back to freaking out. In hindsight I should maybe have just got a private scan yesterday or today, my husband wouldn't be able to come as we have no childcare but he won't be there tomorrow either. I'm not coping well with the wait, it's the unknown right now I'm finding hardest. @Pugprincess did they spot a hematoma on any of your earlier scans? I'm hoping that might be what it is but no evidence of one on my earlier scans....

Sorry I feel like I'm bringing the group down with my worry and panic!

DanceM1 · 20/09/2020 10:13

@Workingmama1 ahh you're not bringing the group down at all... this is exactly what this group is here for!! I just hope youre ok. Is there nowhere you could get a scan today? What time is tomorrow's scan? My friend has had 6 big bleeds during her pregnancy and she is now ready to give birth any day now so I hope you will be the same!!🙏🤞

@bubblybon20 I love your bump pic 😍 pretty sure mine is exactly the same as it was a few weeks ago 😂

SkyBlue20 · 20/09/2020 11:09

@Workingmama1 Not bringing the mood down at all, that’s what we’re here for and a lot of us have been there and know how invaluable it is to have the support on here. It’s so normal to be worried, too, though, like @DanceM1, one of my friends bled right the way through her first trimester and all was absolutely fine - her son is now 1 and a half and perfect - no real reason for it either, just ‘one of those things’.
We’re here for you, do let us know how you get on xx

SmileyT · 20/09/2020 11:32

@Sakura54 Yeah you are right I've read a lot about NHS Drs trying to convince people not to have a CS, but even as a FTM it's my body and my choice. The Drs don't have to agree to it, but if they won't play ball they have to refer you to another Dr, they cannot force women to push👌🏾 is it bad I already have names picked out 😂

@Pugprincess glad all was okay with your scan and you got the negative test back, a lot I've read is saying that cases going up is because more people are getting tested, hopefully not more actually contracting it 👌🏾 x

@Workingmama1 Glad that the bleed has stopped and you are feeling more positive today, strange that this scan will mess with your 12week scan, surely they are independent of eachother but either way I'm glad you'll have some reassurance in the morning xx

@SkyBlue20 have you tried booborbust website? You can just use a tape measure and get really accurate bra size, I was wearing a 34C and it had me down as a 32E which is a much better fit (for now 😂)

@Smilingdonkey I've not heard of this continuity of care thing in my trust but all my MW appts are on the phone until 25weeks, I don't have a named midwife, my 16w appt I've just been told I can get a call anytime during the w/c 3rd October 🙄 as a FTM it would've been nice to have a sit down with a MW at some point before 6months but I guess that's the world we're in now 😕 I was also told not to contact maternity/ midwives by phone with any queries as up until 18w they won't speak to me and I'd have to go to A&E and wait to be referred x

@bubblybon20 ahh what an amazing bump you have, definitely hit your growth spurt 🥰 mine seems to have moved up and bump appears smaller but I'm only 15w

Cici89 · 20/09/2020 13:13

Hi Ladies, hope you’re all well! Nervously joining as I am 4+5 today. I just wondered how you’re all coping? I have pretty much zero symptoms- my pregnancy back in May I had sore boobs, awful morning sickness and tiredness and that’s how I spotted my MMC when they all disappeared. I’m kinda nervous something isn’t right because apart from being the most irritable person on the planet I’ve got nothing 😂 x
