@ew1990 I agree this is defo an awkward stage 🤦🏻‍♀️ also feels like ages away for our next scans 😫😫

SmileyT · 15/09/2020 20:19

@SkyBlue20 yes actually if we could just fast forward to Xmas that would be ideal, I feel like the last 8weeks of pregnancy I'll have loads to keep me busy ☺️

@DanceM1 I'm a bit behind you but I definitely feel like I've hit 2nd trimester now, boobs aren't sore and no nausea but I'm just trying to enjoy it x

@ew1990 my 16week is also on the phone and unhelpfully they have just said it will be w/c 3rd October (which is a Saturday 🤔 ) and they will call at some point, maybe I should take the whole week off work as a potential antenatal appt 😂

Also I saw this on my app today and strangely made me smile so thought I'd share x

Pregnant After MMC - Thread 2
SkyBlue20 · 16/09/2020 06:01

Morning everyone! Pregnancy insomnia strikes again!

Oh, @Pugprincess, you poor thing! Hope the test comes back clear and it’s just a bog standard cold that goes away soon xx

@DanceM1 It was me that asked for the leggings info, thank you for that, will order some! I’m 14+4 now and still quite tired at times and that metallic taste in my mouth is at its worst but otherwise feeling quite normal, too. Just desperate to start feeling some sort of movement so I know all is ok.
I don’t have my 16 week appt booked yet - midwife at the hospital said it would be around 18 weeks (🤷🏻‍♀️) but to call the community midwife (different trust) if I haven’t heard from them by the time I’m 15 weeks. I’m not expecting to hear without calling - the communication between the two doesn’t seem great based on last time!

@ew1990 Exciting about the flutters!! That’s frustrating about the appt being on the phone though 😔

@SmileyT That’s lovely, thank you for sharing 🥰 Which app are you using?

I got a bit low about my weight yesterday - I’ll preface this by saying I KNOW I’m being silly (blame the hormones) but I’ve always been quite slim (didn’t appreciate it at the time! Size 8 with flat tummy) and yesterday I had on what is for me a relatively tight dress (body skimming rather than body con) and was walking to the shop, looked down and saw this huge (to me) bump. Later looked in the mirror side on and it didn’t look as big as it had from above but I just convinced myself that it’s too early to be showing like that as I’m a FTM and it must be down to the fact I’ve been eating crap and not exercising rather than baby (again, silly, I know). I KNOW I’m just at that awkward stage where it looks like I’ve eaten too much rather than that I’m pregnant but I just convinced myself otherwise and got low about how thick my waist is and how big my belly is and convinced myself I’m not going to have that nice neat bump everyone tells me I will and that instead I’ll be huge and disappoint them all (what?!!!) I know it’s just hormones playing up and the fact I’ve always been conscious about my weight. It’s definitely bump shaped and in another outfit you wouldn’t even be able to see it but I just couldn’t take my mind off it yesterday 😔 Stupid as I can’t wait to have a bump and this is the start of it and I’m fine at home, it was just out in public that I got really self conscious. Even found myself Googling pictures of other ftm bumps at 14 weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️ Must nip it in the bud now. This is such a weird stage of pregnancy!!

Dipsy77 · 16/09/2020 06:58

Morning all, scan went well yesterday I'm 14+2 so gained a day and now due 15th March both babies are looking good so feeling loads better now x

Poppy10121 · 16/09/2020 08:37

@Dipsy77 That's great news! You must be relieved :-)

@SmileyT it's so annoying the 16 week appointment is on the phone - what can they possibly even get done by phone?! I think if all continues to go well I might book another private scan around that time, I found it very reassuring.

@SkyBlue20 sorry you are feeling low about your weight, but there really is so much going on in your body right now (I know you know this!) and I think this is not the stage we look neat and tidy! I for one am so bloated (at the scan they were even asking me about it as they could see so much gas inside!!) and I know this is a big reason that my belly looks swollen right now even though I'm still first trimester! Like you, I used to be slim and with a mostly flat belly and I do feel I look like I've "let myself go" but I'm just trying to go with it, I've packed away all my form-fitting clothes for now and just wearing things that are comfortable and don't draw attention to my belly. Maybe now you're past 12 weeks you can treat yourself to a few new clothes that make you feel good?

I am sleeping much better since having my 11 week private scan, just wish the time would hurry up and get to the NHS one now, still 2.5 weeks to go! My tiredness is getting less bad now, still going to bed really early but I can manage without a nap in the day which is easier for work!

SkyBlue20 · 16/09/2020 10:09

Fab news, @Dipsy77, congratulations! 💕

@Poppy10121Yeah I think you're right, maybe a wardrobe sort will help -hide away all those jeans I can no longer wear! I don't even know why I wore that dress - I didn't feel good in it at the best of times, it's just one of the very few things I had for the heat yesterday. In a better dress today and feeling much better about it. Kind of can't wait for it to get a bit colder so I can just live in my skinny jeans and oversized jumpers - I'm not a warm weather dresser at the best of times! Ordered those ASOS leggings and a pair of cycling shorts (for yoga) this morning (had to do yoga - at-home - in just a t-shirt last night as none of my leggings/shorts fit anymore 😂), along with yet another dress so slowly building up the options. Haven't been able to buy any of the things I bought last week because they're all very much for cooler weather 🤦🏻‍♀️
Yes, bet the 11 week scan really helped! Your official 12 week one will be here before you know it ☺️

RosieJess91 · 16/09/2020 11:03

Yay on flutters and scans! All good news!!
My son went up to my mum last night and said I was having 2 babies that were going to be called Rosie and Jumpy, luckily my mum already knew! Haven't actually told our son yet, as he's only 4, but he must have figured it out. My parents look after him while we're at work, so they're in our bubble...
Has anyone else noticed they need to shave their legs a lot less than normal? Hair just doesn't seem to grow anymore. Very odd! Had it with my son, but don't remember it being this early on. Hmm...

Sakura54 · 16/09/2020 11:41

Hopefully it’s just a cold that you caught from snotty kids. Get better soon @Pugprincess

You’ll deffo have a successful 12 week scan @Poppy10121

@SmileyT That’s cute but now that I think about it, it’s actually virtually impossible to remain calm, happy and relaxed when pregnant when you have another kid running about! I’m also ready to have a baby. Why oh why does pregnancy have to be so long!? Made extra long by having a MMC.

@DanceM1 Most of the appointments are quick routine check ups where they check your urine and blood pressure every time and give you a bit of info. They also start measuring your bump at some point. That’s literally it unless you have any problems. My 16 weeks is with a consultant and then I have a MW appt at 19 weeks for some reason. Don’t usually have them so close to each other but I’ll happily take all the check ups they want to give me.

@SkyBlue20 I’m sure you still look lovely but I get you. I’m also conscious of looking like I just have a belly so don’t wear loose flowy stuff until it’s obvious that I’m pregnant. Bloating is annoying, mine is getting bigger. It’s impossible to still have a completely flat stomach at this stage I reckon. Might be time to put that dress in a charity bag lol.

I’m upset about my messed up arm. It’s getting worse, feels like an electric shock when I stretch it. I’ve made a telephone appt with my GP just in case, but I know nerve damage takes time to heal so he won’t be able to help me.

OP posts:
Sakura54 · 16/09/2020 11:44

*I wear loose flowy stuff until it's obvious that I'm pregnant, then I wear tighter stuff.

OP posts:
Pugprincess · 16/09/2020 13:28

Hey guys thank you for the get wells and wishes @Sakura54 and @SkyBlue20.
Today marks 9 weeks for me so that’s a milestone I never got to before! Hopefully babies ok in there, I’m meant to have a scan on Saturday but I may have to move it as I don’t know if I will get my covid result by then. Did test this morn and it’s in the post now 🤞🏻

I must be mad but I love the bloat 😂 I wear tight stuff now 😂😂😂 I think it’s cause I spent 5 years wanting this so I embrace it because it ended so quickly last time 😢 if you feel self conscious though defo wear loose stuff till you feel like you have a proper obvious bump forming. I’m a size 12 so a bit on the plumper side anyway 😅

Congratulations on your successful scan @Dipsy77 😁😁

I’m still a bit poorly, mostly tired-could be pregnancy or back end of this illness? Or both 🧐

PhotoMum4 · 16/09/2020 14:04

I’ve been really struggling last couple of days, off from Work today as soooooo sick still and just exhausted from being sick/trying not to be sick in my classroom.

Also feel huge, everyone keeps commenting on how big my bump is, which is now making me worry. I’m only 13 weeks but as big as I was at 24 ish weeks with my son. Colleagues at work who are much further along than me have lovely neat small bumps and I just feel huge.

I’m struggling to get comfy and bump and stomach muscles really ache.

Also 12 week scan was only 2 weeks ago, but the anxiety that something is wrong has really kicked in again. 16 week appt isn’t until early Oct, hoping to hear heartbeat there but currently feels ages away.

Does the anxiety that something is wrong ever go away?

bubblybon20 · 16/09/2020 14:48

@PhotoMum4 trust me I feel the same, I have never had private scans before. But after my mc, and with this new pregnancy I feel so nervous/anxious it'll go wrong. My scan was only Sunday and I'm already thinking of booking a private scan first week of October. I was adamant that if I start getting some movements before then I won't but I haven't really had anything as yet and it's just extra worry! 😫

SkyBlue20 · 16/09/2020 15:04

@PhotoMum4 You're not alone, I also worry about whether all is ok in there (and it's only been a week since my scan). I think it's completely normal to worry though, especially after all we've been through, and we need to just remember that the odds are in our favour and push it away. I've found focusing on things like that horrible metallic taste in my mouth and the weight I'm putting on help to reassure me as it must mean SOMETHING is still happening (I'm aware it doesn't always work that way but it's something at least). Like @bubblybon20 I'm just hoping for movement sooner rather than later.
Sorry you're feeling so ill, too. Hope it tapers off soon 😔 All of this illness and stress and worry will be worth it in the end 💕

@Pugprincess Yay to nine weeks! Hope you get your test results before the scan 🤞🏼 I'd imagine you will!

@Sakura54 I pretty much never wear tight things - I'm very much an oversized dress or skinny jeans and big jumper type of person - but even with my flowy dresses you can see my tummy now 🙈 Got to film an ad type thing for work next week and going to have to dress very strategically to make sure I don't look pregnant. I have a huge oversized black shirt that I think might do the job! And you're right, the dress needs to go in the charity bag. Immediately.
Ouch, your arm sounds really sore, have you had your GP appt yet? What did they say?
Agreed pregnancy seems LONG! The MMC has definitely added to it though, that's for sure.

@RosieJess91Aahh how sweet (and perceptive!) of your son! Best avoid people you don't want to know yet though 😂 My hair is quite the opposite, just growing and growing and growing.

Called the midwife before to ask about my 16 week appt, long story short, it turns out they'd booked me an appt, just hadn't told me about it 🤦🏻‍♀️ It's in two weeks' time anyway, so another milestone in place!

SkyBlue20 · 17/09/2020 09:00

Morning all!

Is anybody else absolutely exhausted at the moment? I’ve been getting a reasonable amount of sleep but it seems there’s just not enough sleep out there, am shattered! I imagine baby is just doing some big growing!

bubblybon20 · 17/09/2020 09:21

@SkyBlue20 I can kind of tell when baby is having a growth spurt, I go extremely hungry, like even after I've just eaten and I'm really tired. But any other time I literally wouldn't even feel like I was pregnant 🙈 it's weird what the body does to us!

SkyBlue20 · 17/09/2020 09:28

It’s so strange, isn’t it, @bubblybon20?! I feel awful today, like I’ve been run over by a truck! That taste in my mouth is at its worst, I’m exhausted and very much feeling sorry for myself - want to curl up in a ball and cry! Instead, I’m having tea and toast in bed with my laptop on my knee, trying to get through the mountain of work I have on. Just thankful I have no Zoom calls today, I don’t think I have the energy to go make myself look decent! So glad we’re still WFH, I don’t know how people do it in normal times!

SkyBlue20 · 17/09/2020 09:29

(And I especially don’t know how you guys that are teachers are doing it!)

Pugprincess · 17/09/2020 10:25

@SkyBlue20 hi I’m with you on the exhausted feeling I’ve only just got up. Then went super weak as needed to eat 😂 I thought the tiredness was from the illness and I guess as I’m still fighting the germs it could be but I suspect il stay pretty fatigued from now on. I tried to eat to choc hobnobs last night and I couldn’t even finish them as I developed the strongest heartburn I’ve ever had. Baby clearly doesn’t like biscuits but loves cake!!! Im yet to experience the metallic taste 😟

Sakura54 · 17/09/2020 11:34

So after my consultant appt, I’m no longer a high risk. Despite my list of pregnancy issues, she isn’t concerned at all so I don’t have to see her again until Feb! I wanted extra monitoring so it was a bit underwhelming but it’s a good thing I suppose and I have 5 more appts booked so far anyway.

Good news for me though, I don’t have GD, so I’ll be doing the GTT again in Dec. If I fail that (which is highly likely) then I’ll be high risk again. I’ll be continuing to eat sweet stuff until then.

I’m also underwhelmed as she wants me to wait until my birthing options appt to discuss all my CS questions so guess I have no choice but to go to that and fight them to make sure they agree to a ELCS.

@SkyBlue20 No, my appt with the GP isn’t until a couple of weeks which is ok as it’ll give my arm time to heal. Hoping it’ll be better by then. I went back to the blood test department after my appt today to find out the name of the phlebotomist, so the Team Leader had a chat with me. She’s obviously scared that I’m going to make a complaint. She was very apologetic and wants me to keep her updated. Her colleague on the other hand was somewhat minimising my concern so we’ll see.

So DS has been to nursery for a grand total of 9 days and is now sick. I knew kids get sick easily in school but instantly!? I don’t even remember the last time he was ill. Someone actually told me they quit work to be a SAHM as their kid kept gettin sick at nursery!

Workingmama1 · 17/09/2020 11:55

Hi ladies, been quieter as trying to chill out on holiday!

Congratulations on the positive scans that have come through this week 😊

I spoke to the gp (or the receptionist who spoke to the gp!) and they are not concerned about my high b12 levels as I'm taking a multi vitamin and that's likely to have caused it. I think if youre taking any b12 supplements and it's high its concerning. Obviously googled it and high b12 has been linked to increased autism so may switch to one with just folic acid and vitamin D when we get home.

@skyblue20 @pugprincess I'm still feeling so tired all the time too, I've been napping when my daughter naps while we've been away! I've found it so much harder this time round compared to my daughter. Last time I went on a hen do at 9 weeks and was out till 1am each night, im asleep on the sofa by 9:30 most nights now!

@Sakura54 he's done well to last 9 days! Even with the extra cleaning ect germs are still rife at nurserys... also good news of the gtt test!

Pugprincess · 17/09/2020 17:02

@Sakura54 that sounds like some good news, least you have a breather from it all for a bit now xx

@SkyBlue20 and @Workingmama1 I’m actually a bit concerned about my sleeping today, I’ve slept roughly 4 or 5 hours in the day today 😕 I know I’m off work and been poorly but surely that’s not normal 😅 I’m seriously concerned as to how I will manage school now 😕

bubblybon20 · 17/09/2020 18:27

Is anyone planning on private scans before the NHS 20 week on, I feel I'm been ridiculous if I book anything else. But just something keeps telling me to 🤣🙈

Pugprincess · 17/09/2020 18:38

Oh I’m sure I would @bubblybon20 xx

SmileyT · 17/09/2020 18:39

@Poppy10121 yeah I've already concluded the 16week appt will be as pointless as the booking appt for me 😂

@SkyBlue20 I had a clear out of everything that doesn't fit/ isn't flattering and it's made me feel so much better than trying to squeeze my watermelon boobs into my size 8 dresses in the morning, which definitely made me cry a couple of mornings 🙈 and it's himommy app pretty pointless but has fun little snippets every morning. Totally understand the exhaustion, I was out for dinner Monday and Wednesday and promised myself I'd make the gym today after work but I'm heading home now to crash on the sofa, not quite got that 2nd trimester glow yet 😂

@Sakura54 yeah I'm not sure I've got the staying calm bit yet but just trying to smile through it 🤪 definitely good news that you've been taken off the high risk list but rubbish you miss out on extra times to see/ hear baby. Also definitely ask to change Drs if they make you fight for your CS it's your body and your choice they shouldn't make it hard for you. This might be absolute garbage but my mum always says that it really helped to build our immune systems getting bugs when we were small (I was in nursery from 3months) as I went on to have 100% attendance at primary and secondary school 😇

@Pugprincess just remember our bodies are amazing and will deal with whatever we throw at them. I definitely nap more at the weekends when I'm not in the office and go to bed earlier when I'm not out for dinner or at the gym. I feel like our bodies know when we have some downtime and try and catch up, especially when you're ill just give yourself a break, you're growing a human, and enjoy the rest 🥰

@bubblybon20 I've got a 16w5 scan booked and I'm so tempted to book another one before that, want to have one more scan before I tell people at work 🙈

Pugprincess · 17/09/2020 20:35

Thanks @SmileyT wise words 🙂 I’ve managed to be a bit more productive this eve 🥳
