How long did it take for you to get your 12 week scan through?

ValidUser · 14/08/2020 11:21

Hi everyone! Had a scan today at 7+4. Lovely heartbeat and measuring just ahead of dates (which are definite due to IVF). Thrilled!

JTB123 · 14/08/2020 11:22

@Oldermum80 agreed with @chloxhunt get it checked out first, it might be totally normal! X

LottieX · 14/08/2020 11:24

@ValidUser awh this is so lovely!! Always good to get the news you're ahead of schedule!

@chloxhunt I had my booking in appointment on Tuesday and I got my scan letter today for the 5th Sept when I'll be 12w+2. Midwife warned there may be a backlog but I'm surprised how close to 12w it is. And super good news partners are allowed back to scans from Monday at my trust. Hopefully it'll be changing for other people too!

chloxhunt · 14/08/2020 11:28

@LottieX ahhh okay! Mine may come tomorrow or next week then! I'm so anxious about it incase something changes before then

Babafarmer · 14/08/2020 11:30

@Oldermum80 I really hope this isn't what you are thinking I have everything crossed for you that this is just a little blip and that all will be fine at your scan. Thinking of you xxx

TheFoz · 14/08/2020 11:33

@Oldermum80 please don’t give up yet! Your scan isn’t far away now. And also you have loads of time to try again if that’s how this goes, you are younger than me and a lot of other mums on here. Please don’t give up hope xx

Oldermum80 · 14/08/2020 12:08

Thanks everyone for your messages.
I caved and phoned the EPU and they said to go through. I had mentally prepared myself for bad news but there’s a heartbeat! I’m 7+5 and they said it’s all positive but given my age there is still a high chance I’ll miscarry.
Still very anxious but telling myself that if there’s a heartbeat then the bleeding can’t be that I’m miscarrying.

Oldermum80 · 14/08/2020 12:09

@TheFoz I’m 41 when I’m due. Sadly I didn’t meet my partner until I was 37 so this is our last attempt.

chloxhunt · 14/08/2020 12:13

@Oldermum80 see that's good news! Focus on that!

LottieX · 14/08/2020 12:14

@Oldermum80 honestly so pleased for you! The little bean is holding on and hearing the heartbeat must have been so special! Hopefully you can relax a bit now. Did you have a private scan booked?

DSP21 · 14/08/2020 12:32

@Oldermum80 I'm soooo pleased for you!! That's so amazing that the little bean has a heartbeat. I know it may not be plain sailing all the way, but this is hugely positive and I hope you can relax a little for now! X

Oldermum80 · 14/08/2020 12:38

@chloxhunt @LottieX @DSP21 thank you!
I had a scan booked for Sunday but I’ve cancelled it.
The EPU are going to scan me every two weeks because of my history and they are putting me on aspirin and testing my sugar because of my age.
I can’t handle this anxiety! People just assume pregnancy is easy but it isn’t for everyone.
Going to try and be more positive and grateful for the lack of symptoms! Smile

DSP21 · 14/08/2020 12:42

@Oldermum80 I honestly thought you had sex, got pregs, felt sick for 12 weeks then got on with it. No one prepares you for the mental battles at all. We're all here for you, and amazing that they're scanning you every 2 weeks. I may end up paying for just as many with all the anxiety!

Clara9 · 14/08/2020 12:48

@Oldermum80 so pleased that you’ve had good news. Sounds as though they are taking good care of you to, so in the best possible situation.

Oldermum80 · 14/08/2020 12:51

@DSP21 with my first it was so easy. I was oblivious to all this. Second I bled the day after I got a positive. I never settled and kept thinking something was wrong so I was anxious right through but I think I’m going to be ten times worse after having two miscarriages with my new partner. He hasn’t got any children which makes it so much harder, but I know I’m already blessed with the two I have.

DSP21 · 14/08/2020 12:58

@Oldermum80 any kind of bleeding just puts you soo on edge its unbelievable. I don't think i'll be able to relax until the birth! I'm excited for you though! And love that we all get to do this together

Babafarmer · 14/08/2020 14:17

@Oldermum80 I'm so pleased for you. Hold on to that positive. I'm glad they are keeping a close eye on you.
I'm taking your lack of symptoms as a positive for my my scan tomorrow. X

EmzG20 · 14/08/2020 15:03

@Oldermum80 that's great news really pleased for you. I've got a scan tomorrow I should be 8+4 going by my dates

chloxhunt · 14/08/2020 15:06

Feel like I haven't gotten as many pregnancy symptoms today, I've had breakfast 5 hours ago I'm usually starving by now and I'm not :/

JTB123 · 14/08/2020 15:24

Ladies I've got a few home Dentist app in 15 mins as I have an erupting wisdom tooth that's caused me pain for 4 days now. Hoping he will prescribe some antibiotics, Will I be allowed to take most? Any I should avoid?

JTB123 · 14/08/2020 15:24

That was meant to say a phone dentist appointment!!!

ChilternsHan · 14/08/2020 16:49

@Oldermum80 That's lovely news Smile

Now something a lot less lovely... does anybody have any tips for trapped wind?! I am so so uncomfortable today!

FTM2B · 14/08/2020 16:49

So I am 11 weeks pregnant today and have my first scan on Wednesday. I have read a few people on here talking about internal scans and I thought this 12 week scan was just the jelly on the belly scan?? Is there something I am missing about 12 week scan?

chloxhunt · 14/08/2020 16:54

@FTM2B it's only internal if it an early scan, 12 weeks is just a normal one
