@chloxhunt I usually accept a drink if offered and get my DH to sneakily have it, the odd time I've made an excuse I feel it seems so obvious I'm lying!

@Thack yes! I had it with DS1 too, they say your hair gets thick and lush with pregnancy but I definitely start losing more (though nothing like the post partum hair loss which I've still got so many short tufty bits from! 🙈)

Mercuryfreddie · 13/08/2020 08:00

Hello everyone! Long time lurker but I've finally decided to post. I'm 7+1 today, due 31st March Smile. This will be my second child. Got my booking appt over the phone tomorrow morning and booked a private scan when I'll be 8+4. Even though I've never experienced any pregnancy loss, I feel quite anxious this time around.

Weird question but has anyone's breasts already started leaking colostrum? Mine started leaking around 21 weeks in my last pregnancy but they've already started leaking this week! Paired with the swollen, sore boobs, nausea and acne like a teenager... forgot how much I don't enjoy early pregnancy!

EmzG20 · 13/08/2020 08:01

Morning all. Hope your managing to sleep in the heat wherever you are. Just wondered anyone that's had an early scan around 8 weeks. Were they able to do an abdominal scan?

Taylortyler · 13/08/2020 08:29

Is anyone else having cramps on and off? I knew about most of the side effects of pregnancy but cramping throughout the pregnancy was not something I'd heard of. It's not super painful just a bit annoying and makes me feel queasy. Just keep repeating 'I'm creating a miracle, it'll be worth it in the end'

chloxhunt · 13/08/2020 08:46

@Taylortyler yeah I've been getting cramps for a couple weeks but all is good! If you're worried about it contact your gp or midwife and they might send you in for an early scan that's what they did for me

chloxhunt · 13/08/2020 08:46

@EmzG20 I had a scan at 7 and a half weeks and mine was internal

Taylortyler · 13/08/2020 08:52

@chloxhunt I'm not too worried as I've had no bleeding at all and I have a private scan booked for Saturday so fingers crossed for then

Clara9 · 13/08/2020 08:53

@Taylortyler yeh they are weird aren’t they. Mine have started to wear off a bit now, but it’s strange that no one mentions them. They are on the nhs list of common symptoms though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Taylortyler · 13/08/2020 09:10

@Clara9 mine come and go usually only lasting about 10 minutes a time but not a single pregnant person I have known has mentioned them

ChilternsHan · 13/08/2020 09:20

@Taylortyler yes to cramps! I had them early on, felt a bit period-like then. Eased for a couple of weeks but are now back, and feel a bit different. I get a stretching/crampy feeling low down when I stand up too quickly, and have had a feeling almost like a trapped nerve to the right of my belly button a few times. Someone else described it as feeling there was a lot of action going on in there, and that's exactly how I feel!

Sussexbysea · 13/08/2020 09:24

@chloxhunt do you not feel comfortable telling your Dad yet? Maybe telling him will be easier than hiding it xx

EmzG20 · 13/08/2020 09:28

@chloxhunt thank you for replying.

DSP21 · 13/08/2020 09:35

@chloxhunt I have the same issue, I've already not drank at a few gatherings and it's getting obvious. My next plan for tomorrow is to fill a hip flask with non alcoholic wine, ask for a red wine, and then swap them around. I can then nurse that glass for awhile and do it again. I'll let you know how it goes!

ChilternsHan · 13/08/2020 09:43

@DSP21 so sneaky, I like it. There's always the old tonic and lime that passes for a g&t too.

chloxhunt · 13/08/2020 09:44

@Sussexbysea I'm only 8 weeks I'm not telling him until I'm 12 weeks and i need to have a heart check up before I tell him otherwise he'll constantly be asking if I've heard anything and I'll just get pissed of as he's only involved in my life when he wants to be

DSP21 · 13/08/2020 09:48

@ChilternsHan or anything mixed with coke i suppose..which leads me to asking

Are you ladies drinking Coke whilst pregnant? Is it safe? So many mixed opinions online!

ChilternsHan · 13/08/2020 09:55

I've allowed myself the odd coke - weirdly it's not something I drink much usually but I've found myself fancying it. Perhaps because not drinking wine is just so boring (I really miss it)?! Or maybe to with my (usually non-existent) sweet tooth.

I don't drink coffee and have only been having one tea a day so I figure it's probably ok on the odd occasion - not going to make a habit of it!

Sussexbysea · 13/08/2020 09:56

@Taylortyler are they period like cramps? Or a pulling sensation?

If it’s pulling, this is called round ligament pain and totally normal but always best to get these things checked especially if you’re worried.

@EmzG20 I had an abdominal scan at 8+2 and could see baby. My bladder was super full and I got stage fright and couldn’t do a wee so it made the picture a bit blurry.

Three weeks today till my dating scan 🙌🏻

Sussexbysea · 13/08/2020 09:57

@DSP21 You can get caffeine free coke. They just say to not have too much, that’s all.

Clara9 · 13/08/2020 10:06

@ChilternsHan I’m usually addicted to Diet Coke, so cutting down has been a challenge! I have some every now and again as part of the 200mg of caffeine you’re allowed. Caffeine free coke is good too.

EmzG20 · 13/08/2020 10:12

@Sussexbysea thank you for that. I tend to drink to much water before scans they've told me to drink a pint of water an hour before. I'll be 8+4 so hopefully will be abdominal I find internal ones a bit uncomfortable

Sussexbysea · 13/08/2020 10:18

@EmzG20 they may press a bit hard to get some decent measurements but ultimately it’s worth it. When’s your scan?xx

aureliacecilia · 13/08/2020 10:23

Diet Coke caffeine free tastes fine if you want Coke. I think you're fine with the odd can of the usual stuff though. This time around I've cut out all caffeine (other than in chocolate) because I don't fancy tea, coffee or Coke (I usually like all of these things). I'm having the occasional decaff Nespresso coffee but I've stopped enjoying them so there doesn't seem to be much point in persevering with drinking coffee! I'm going to try making a latte later to see if I prefer that to an espresso. I'll try again in a few weeks to see if my tastes have changed back to normal!

Taylortyler · 13/08/2020 10:27

@Sussexbysea they're just like period pains I guess, I don't normally get period pain at all so it's a bit odd for it to be coming and going, my doc told me that cramps are very normal so I'm not too worried. Like someone else said I feel like a lot is going on in there!

I'm so excited for when I'm finally showing and everyone knows and it's not a secret anymore!

Oldermum80 · 13/08/2020 10:31

Hi everyone, I haven't been on as I’ve been a bit of a mess and letting my anxiety get the better of me.
I am so worried that this is another MMC and my head is all over the place. Feel like I’m no longer disgusted by foods and not feeling the slight queasiness I was. Still tired and peeing a lot but then that’s the norm for me. Boobs haven’t changed anymore than they had in week 5. Know I shouldn’t symptom spot but I am positive this is happening again and I’m petrified of having a scan on Sunday.
