Best of luck, @Boredinthehouse12. I stopped weighing myself regularly during lockdown (a bit of a la la la I don't want to know! approach) but as I'm starting this pregnancy 10 lbs overweight I'm trying to keep an eye on it. I don't remember how much weight I gained in my last pregnancy but I took a bit of an eat everything in sight and be damned with the consequences approach. Not really what I want to do this time as I'll only have to shift the excess weight at the end. Hopefully I can manage to maintain my weight or only put on a few kilograms up to the 20 week mark. I think some weight gain is inevitable after that.

My bloat is soooo real. Seeing as it's my first I thought it would take awhile to show, but being quite slim I already look 5 months with a muffin top :( does this die down or should I embrace it

Thack · 12/08/2020 18:49

Told my first porky pie in work today. We needed a photo of a motor with a tape measure for size. Production manager asked me to help (we were last on site). Problem: it's up a vertical ladder and although it's early, I'm being cautious.
Luckily he was quite happy with my explanation of not being able to climb due to 'low blood pressure'!
Lined up well, his wife suffers and has low iron too, it will make sense when I go for the booking blood test next week 😁

ValidUser · 12/08/2020 19:01

@Thack nicely done!

@DSP21 I'm beginning to embrace my bump. It's bloat, but it's getting bigger so I don't think it's going anywhere!

DSP21 · 12/08/2020 19:04

@ValidUser I always thought I'd look like Rachel from friends when pregs, i'm more like phoebe with triplets 😂

ValidUser · 12/08/2020 19:18

And I'm more like Monica from way back when. 😂 (But that's mainly the steroids making me puffy. Weight is perfectly healthy, but distributed oddly at present!).

Babafarmer · 12/08/2020 19:26

@MsK2be89 if you are still around. I am so so sorry for what you are going through it must be awful.

@Boredinthehouse12 I'm with you on the count down until Saturday the days are dragging. I even phoned yesterday to see if there was a cancellation but there wasn't. I have literally convinced myself of a negative outcome. I am really not enjoying how pregnancy makes you feel. The constant worry is debilitating xxx

chloxhunt · 12/08/2020 19:33

Dude I'm skinny as anything and I looked pregnant before I was 😂😂

Phie04 · 12/08/2020 20:12

I haven't been on here in a few days, somehow the posts have risen by 200 messages 🤣 can anyone fill me in on whats happened?

@ValidUser 😂😂😂 that actually made me chuckle

Boredinthehouse12 · 12/08/2020 20:46

@aureliacecilia thank you! I think I’m going to need it! X

@Babafarmer Ha I’ve constantly been checking for cancellations too. I never knew pregnancy could be such an anxious time! Hopefully we’ll both get the positive news we need on Saturday! X

Sussexbysea · 12/08/2020 20:47

My belly button is starting to stretch, feels tighter already. We’re seeing friends just before the 12 week scan, they’ll all be able to tell somethings going on by then

ValidUser · 12/08/2020 20:54

Anyone else already convinced they're having a boy or a girl? I'm utterly convinced it's a boy but DH thinks it's a girl

Mrs1989 · 12/08/2020 21:11

@Babafarmer @Boredinthehouse12, I also have had very few symptoms. I felt slightly queasy over the weekend and had food aversions/cravings and hunger pangs, but they all seem to have gone in the last day or two. Everybody else’s symptoms on here are really making me panic. I’m 7+3. I was feeling quite positive last week as I had got past the point when I miscarried last time, but today I’ve gone downhill and my gut is telling me it’s another bad outcome. Trying to hold on for a couple more weeks until a private scan as I don’t want to have one too early, but I just keep working myself up. I never imagined pregnancy would be like this when I started trying before Christmas and it has just knocked the stuffing out of me Sad

Babafarmer · 12/08/2020 21:15

@Mrs1989 I know it's awful. But it's nice knowing I'm the only one that feels like this. Yeah I think you should hold out as long as you can otherwise you'll end up wanting another. They are very addictive. I've counted down three weeks to this one and even though it still feels ages away it does get closer xxx

Mrs1989 · 12/08/2020 21:27

@Babafarmer it’s not helped I’ve not been working today, so more time to dwell...yes that’s exactly why I am holding off for now, as I will just want another one a week or two later! I really envy women who have never had anything happen and so it never crosses their mind that something could go wrong. My mum had three healthy pregnancies between the ages of 30 and 35 and I naively thought I could just pop out babies when the time came too. Family members and colleagues have had straightforward first-time pregnancies recently and it is hard to accept that my first pregnancy couldn’t be like that. After my miscarriage, I was told “it will happen”, probably because it happened quite easily for them. People mean well but I have felt very alone this year. But, like you say, it seems some of us are in the same boat with the lack of symptoms and we can do nothing but hold on. Wishing you all the best for your scan and hope the next few days fly by for you xxx

chloxhunt · 12/08/2020 21:51

@Mrs1989 I wouldn't think too much into it! I've hardly got symptoms myself apart from being starving and cramps and that's it! Some people just don't get symptoms but I can see how it could be a worry

chloxhunt · 12/08/2020 21:55

Guys I need help! I'm supposed to be going away with my dad and his girlfriend and daughter and her parents at the end of the month and I always drink with them, I'll only be 10 weeks they will know somethings up what should I do?

2020wish · 12/08/2020 22:00

@chloxhunt no idea but if u find out let me know as I’m away this weekend with my family and only 7 weeks and I always drink . Thinking of bringing some alcohol free stuff and hoping they don’t notice? Or vodka bottle filled with water lol

ValidUser · 12/08/2020 22:10

@chloxhunt I've told everyone already, but it was an easy decision as people knew we were doing IVF so I was either going to be pregnant or not!

Aurora124 · 12/08/2020 22:19

I would bring your own non alcoholic wine. I went to a hotel a couple of weeks ago and told the bar staff I was pregnant and when i ask for 'cider' they knew to give me non alcoholic, i spent the whole time getting nods winks and thumbs up from all the bar staff x

Mrs1989 · 12/08/2020 22:20

@chloxhunt thank you, it’s reassuring to know there are a fair few of us without many symptoms. And am I right in thinking you are one of the ladies who has already had a successful scan?

Regarding the alcohol, I don’t have much useful advice on that as I don’t often drink, so I think I’d easily get away with it! Could you feign a poorly tummy or something? Or pretend you’re on antibiotics so can’t drink? It’s a tricky one! xxx

chloxhunt · 12/08/2020 22:29

@Mrs1989 yes I am! I had an early scan due to cramping but all is well!
Haha my midwife jokes earlier about pressing I have a urine infection and I'm on antibiotics for it so I can't drink 😂

Babafarmer · 12/08/2020 23:22

@chloxhunt @2020wish I only have two suggestions... you are on antibiotics for a tooth abscess and taking metronidazole. That is the main antibiotic that you can't drink with. Also have a side effect of nausea so that could cover up sickness.

Or

You are trying for a baby so giving up alcohol.

Thack · 13/08/2020 03:03

@cloxhunt you could feel unwell on the day maybe, a stomach bug putting you off alcohol (and damn you were so looking forward to partying!!). Get your other half to sneakily drink anything served to you, or to get you a second drink so you can hide which you are sipping from. Could you need to drive the next day? I love a good airport run for a work colleague.
Sorry to say (but honest opinion) : I worry that antibiotics is overused as a reason. To the right people it might just say 'pregnant'. What does everyone else think?

Has anyone else noticed increased hair loss? 🤔 I'm taking loads out of the plughole after washing. It's usually a sign of stress for me, so I'm curious if hormones are a factor too.
