Is anyone else getting the 'fanny daggers' I'm getting them all the time recently especially when I'm out and about - I get terrified it's the start of contractions every time!

Missworry92 · 27/08/2020 07:40

Hi ladies, I haven't messaged on here for a while but I've been reading most of your discussions. Hope you are all doing well and getting bigger 😊
I've noticed a clicking noise coming from my belly occasionally, it sounds as if you click two fingernails together, a little weird 😁 I've read online that apparently some women get this and they don't know what it is. Theories go from babies bones cracking to baby sucking a finger or lips etc. I was wondering if any of you have heard it?
How is everyone getting on with their nurseries?

loobeelou · 27/08/2020 08:00

@nearlyamummyof2boys yes I have been getting it, I find it happens more when I have a busier day and on my feet more. I don't remember it with DS.

Agreed about babies and bottles. We didn't buy too many of any specific brand of bottle at the start for that reason, you just don't know which ones baby will take to.
That and I was planning to exclusively breastfeed so didn't think we would need many (if any) bottles, but I had low supply so he was dual fed.

Pinktruffle · 27/08/2020 09:58

As Mam bottles are self sterilising in the microwave, do you still need a seperate microwave steriliser?

Kpm7 · 27/08/2020 10:30

@Pinktruffle that’s a good question.

I do remember my sister using a steriliser also. But not sure if it’s needed. Xx

loobeelou · 27/08/2020 11:18

I'd not really thought about getting one, if was passed onto us from a friend. We did use it when we had a few bottles and dummies to do at the same time.

Had my midwife appointment this morning a lovely midwife at that she was very shocked I've had zero contact at all also wasnt pleased that my consultant put me in for glucose test at 28 weeks when should of been a week or so ago so now had to booked day off work to get up hospital tomoz morning for it listened to baby's heart beat and he was hiccuping aswell and it was reassuring as well as I was worried that I cant feel very strong kicks yet but she said all is fine and that it cud be harder for me as I've had trauma there but she could feel him kick so relieving I have to have the anti clot injections from 28 weeks to 6 weeks after baby is born also because of my age etc I wont be going over my due date I will be induced if he doesn't come on the due date which has made me happy as he defo be here b4 xmas I feel so much relieved today anxiety isnt there

MrsR87 · 27/08/2020 11:22

Just catching up with the thread. Pleased to see a bottle and steriliser chat going on as this is next in my list 😇

People keep mentioning the MAM ones that can be sterilised in a microwave, but we don’t have a microwave! Can they be done in a traditional steriliser unit too? If not, any other recommendations? 🤞🏻

nearlyamummyof2boys · 27/08/2020 11:56

@MrsR87 I just soak my bottles in steriliser I find Sainsbury's own brand one really good.
But you can get electric steamers as well like this Tommee Tippee one half price at Argos!
I love Tommee Tippee bottles I think they are brilliant especially the small ones for the newborns - our baby had bad wind as well and found the anti colic bottles helped with it.

loobeelou · 27/08/2020 12:09

@Kj1010 glad you are feeling better after your appointment today 😊

@MrsR87 I don't see why you couldn't use an electric steriliser or cold water sterilise them. As long as you take the bottles and bits apart so that all of the parts get sterilised 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pinktruffle · 27/08/2020 12:52

@Kpm7 I may have to start a thread and see if some non FTMs can advise!

Babyhope98 · 27/08/2020 12:58

How are you feeling today @Amyyy1 any luck getting seen? X

Kj1010 · 27/08/2020 13:00

@Pinktruffle my sis in law uses the mam bottles but does put them in a microwaveable steraliser I'm gonna buy a electric steraliser as I dont like the idea of microwave ones with my others I used normal steraliser

loobeelou · 27/08/2020 13:33

@Pinktruffle I used mam bottles and a microwave steriliser with DS. The steriliser came in handy when I had a stack of bottles and dummies to do at the same time.

Pinktruffle · 27/08/2020 13:42

Ahh thank you @loobeelou so not a necessity but probably useful. I'm going to try to breastfeed initially so may hold off buying one yet.

chubbyhotchoc · 27/08/2020 14:11

@Pinktruffle I had an electric one. It was useful for dummies and weaning spoons and bowls etc which comes around quicker than you think

Kj1010 · 27/08/2020 14:16

@nearlyamummyof2boys thanks for that just ordered that steraliser as that's the one I wanted and was 60 on amazon and was gonna buy it in couple weeks now got it for half ty again

Kpm7 · 27/08/2020 14:53

@MrsR87 yes you can sterilise them as normal. I think the convenience is for travelling etc.

@nearlyamummyof2boys I am indecisive now as the tommy tippy steriliser is such a good buy but really wanted the mam bottles and not sure I am being extra buying both.

I assume the baby’s will need new bottles throughout the year? Or not? Xx

Kpm7 · 27/08/2020 16:15

Ended up buying the tommee tippee steriliser.

Going to get these bottles they seem a really good deal.

Anyone due on 1st Nov? Due my first baby, little girl. 30+4 today and can'twait!

peachypetite · 27/08/2020 16:39

Is anyone else becoming extremely forgetful? I’m normally someone who is known and prides themselves on their ability to organise so it’s a shock to the system haha.

Babyhope98 · 27/08/2020 17:16

@peachypetite I am defiantly more forgetful since I’ve been pregnant I forget things so easily now 🤔

Kpm7 · 27/08/2020 18:00

@peachypetite yes. I baby brain for sure. So annoying. Xx

Pinktruffle · 27/08/2020 18:23

@chubbyhotchoc thank you, that's a good point, I hadn't thought that I will need to steralise those things. I'll keep an eye out in the sales and grab one.

I'm having issues with my memory too. I'm also finding myself incredibly hungry. I'm 27 weeks today and my daily food intake had not really yet changed much from pre-pregnancy but these past few days I have really noticed that I'm starving between lunch and dinner by around 4ish and have to have some toast or something else more than just a snack to see me through.

jalu47 · 27/08/2020 19:30

@peachypetite I've been a little forgetful but I'm finding I've becoming REALLY clumsy, dropping things, misjudging space so clipping my toe or elbow etc.
