@Jellycat2020 I was the same, I had no idea what it was or how/why I'd tested positive. It is good that they know about it and you can get the antibiotics to protect the baby.

I am expecting to test positive again this time but feel a bit more prepared if I do.

Report
Jellycat2020 · 29/08/2020 13:50

@loobeelou yes, I was quite scared when they told me I had it as I know how dangerous it can be but actually, I'm glad they caught it so at least I can get the antibiotics to keep baby safe.

@Jellycat2020 I tested positive for Strep B with DS. I actually found it helped with knowing when to go to hospital because I needed to be on antibiotics.

@Jellycat2020 That's very useful to know, thank you. Sorry to hear about that for you though😓

@Babyhope98 @Whatinthename20 Thanks both, ill test again after lunch! I'm not getting any symptoms of a UTI so probably was just contaminated x

Jellycat2020 · 29/08/2020 10:32

It should be the whole pad that changes colour if there's a problem.
A UTI would have a colour change on leukocytes, nitrate and protein and sometimes blood too (if you're symptomatic with it). Ketones come up positive with alterations in glucose so more for diabetes cases rather than UTIs, and should always be rechecked. I've had tons of UTIs before pregnancy and had 3 during. Now on continuous long term antibiotics til baby's born. Plus I'm Step B positive so more antibiotics at labour! 😣

She’s really active this morning phew 😅 @Kj1010 @Ic86

I would just test again @Amyyy1 I think the whole things meant to go that colour not just a dot x

Report
Whatinthename20 · 29/08/2020 08:38

@Amyyy1 I’ve had colour on leukocytes before and nothing else. Spoke to midwife who said it’s probably contamination from discharge. If leuk, nitrates and ketones are all negative then uti is unlikely I was told.
Maybe do another one later, wipe first, and try and do a mid stream sample.
Obviously if you have any uti symptoms I would get it checked out though Smile

So I did a urine test strip thing again this morning as the one I took the other day was darkest purple on Ketones but I read it can change depending on what time of day.

There's a little bit of colour on the top one, does anyone know if that's normal or it always means UTI regardless of how much colour is there??

@Awkes yes to leaky boobs!

Left one started a few weeks ago and today the right one joined in. It's so weird l.
I actually wore nipple pads today!

I had no idea this happened but all my mummy friends laughed when I asked and reassured me it was normal.

I said what else is going to happen and My
Sister (mum of 2) said "it gets worse" hahaGrin

@Babyhope98 I do, I'm 26 weeks and went in to be checked one day last week as baby's pattern wasn't what it normally was. The midwife was lovely, and so reassuring. She said I did the right thing calling and not to ever sit and worry in silence xx

Kj1010 · 28/08/2020 21:22

I’ve woken up a couple of times at night with a wet chest Shock didn’t expect it to start so early. I have a friend much closer to her due date and she’s not experienced that yet so maybe it doesn’t happen to everyone?

Pram got delivered today! Went with the ickle bubba and have to say I’m really chuffed with it, looks great and was so easy to assemble.
Also I got a covid antibody test via work and pretty much the whole building have come back positive so sometime in the last 6 months we’ve all had it. Pretty scary considering I work with quite vulnerable adults but reassuring a bit aswell because I’ve had no symptoms at all. Only a couple of staff suspected they may have had it so seems the majority of us breezed through it 🤷🏻‍♀️
Anyone else starting to get leaky nips? I’m officially producing now 😭

Anyone got a posterior placenta and have quiet days? I’m 27 weeks have felt her move a bit today, but not as much as the past couple of days think maybe it’s a growth spurt as bump feels achy too. Not the first time this has happened but as I’m getting further makes me more nervous when she’s a bit quiet. Love it when she moves all day so I don’t have to worry 😅 x

@peachypetite hope you're feeling better! Sometimes it just gets too much for sure, I'd be upset too if I got a lot of comments and judgement. I think @EithneBlue you're right as well, I think it's a mixture between people feeling like they have this additional right to tell you what they think of your body or your choices during pregnancy and then we get made to feel like our reactions about it are down to hormones rather than justfied because are people just being dicks!

I've had a few people piss me off today, the doctor started it off as I've had a bit of what I think is sciatica for months now but it got much worse this week to the point I could barely walk. Finally managed to speak to the doctor and he was like ohhh I'll prescribe you cocodomol I was like uhhh no I'd like to see a physio. He also pissed me off by passing comment on whether or not people should find out the sex of their baby. He took me by surprise and asked if I'd found out and I was like no...and he responded REALLY enthusiastically like oh great!!! that's great that's the right choice!! like um ok dickhead didn't do it for you and I don't think you should be judging women's choices either way??

THEN my mum has gone and announced in my sister's hen do whataspp that I'm pregnant. Which is totally weird as I don't know most of them. The ones I do know a bit but haven't told I was going to tell in person. People basically just ignored it thank god. And she DOES NOT GET IT why I would be bothered by this. I just get told I need to not get worked up and they'd be able to tell in person anyway like WTF...I'm sure I'll piss the baby off as much one day but jesus christ she's so frustrating!!!
