Also @Buzz22 I definitely worry over a small bump too. I’m bang on 10th centile at the moment so they are hoping next appointment it will raise a bit or I’ll have to go for growth scans.

FourPlasticRings · 22/07/2020 10:19

@CouscousEvaporator Welcome back! I did the raspberry leaf tea last time from 32 weeks and will start it then this time around. I thought it was OK and I'm not much of an herbal tea fan, but I bet it is nicer cold.

Have you tried a belly support band? I got one from Mothercare last pregnancy and it's been amazing for my comfort this pregnancy too. Maybe try Amazon?

CouscousEvaporator · 22/07/2020 10:35

Thanks @FourPlasticRings!

Hadn’t even considered a belly support, it’s not so much the external size that gets me, it’s the feeling of everything being crammed up inside that was getting to me. I’ve just had a look on amazon and you can get some reasonably priced ones so it’s worth a shot. Thank you x

Treaclepie19 · 22/07/2020 11:11

Thank you all Flowers
The midwife appointment was a bit of a faff because they'd told me the wrong time so I ended up waiting about 50 minutes (they were running late also). She listened to me but pretty much just said try and get out a bit more and contact the mental health team if I want to (takes about 6 months for an appointment at the best of times). Spd she pretty much dismissed as well as the gp can refer me for physio but its limited to how much it will help. I had it last time so I do sort of get that.

Feel worse than before I went really 🙈 Come home to a very grizzly 4yo who is overtired and wanting his Dad.
Good news is heartbeat was fine and bump measured a week ahead so growing well.

Just going to sit and watch TV together and hope for a good afternoon.

Hi all,

@Treaclepie19 sorry to hear that the midwife appointment didn't help much. Brilliant news that heartbeat and bump are good though. It's so amazing to hear the heartbeat isn't it. I agree with everyone else who says you sound like a brilliant mum.

I am struggling a bit mental health wise at the moment too. That combined with hardly any sleep the last few nights means I feel awful today and have just had to log off from work - I just couldn't do anything. Feeling generally really low at the moment. I've had depression for a number of years but had it under control now I'm worried it's going to get worse again. And then I feel guilty because I should be so happy with the baby on the way and healthy so far!

Pregnancy is definitely not like on social media and things where everything is beautiful and perfect is it!

Sorry that turned into a bit of a sad and long post!

Treaclepie19 · 22/07/2020 11:43

@BecLJ sorry to hear you're having a tough time too. I think how things are currently isn't helping anyone is it.
Don't be afraid to reach out for support if you feel its persistant. Hopefully they'll be able to refer you through the pregnancy pathways. Seems like my area don't do that but I know a lot do.

Morning girls we defo have our 'bad days' thankfully I'm having a good one so far. Slept through when I finally managed to drift off which helps greatly. The weather is rubbish here so im going to see my mother and grandparents (she lives with them during the week due to Nana having dementia). Looking forward to seeing them 😊. I have always heard that a baby boy's heart rate is slower than a girl, around 140 with girl being around 160. Twice now 'his' heartbeat has been close to if not 160.I'm hoping this does not indicate the wrong gender being confirmed at my last scan!! I have bought everything for boy 🙄🙄xx

Treaclepie19 · 22/07/2020 11:54

@Treacle81 if that's the case then we can swap because I'm meant to be having a girl and her heart rate has been around 140 each time :p
Glad you're having a good day :)

Treacle81 · 22/07/2020 12:04

Hahaha really? It's going to be a surprise for us both now after all 🤣🤣xx

Treaclepie19 · 22/07/2020 12:06

I'd have to change her name and everything 🙈😂😳

LexiM · 22/07/2020 12:07

@Treaclepie19 I am sorry you feel worse after your appointment. It's so frustrating how stretched the mental health services are that they cannot do more for you. I hope the rest of your day goes better.

@BecLJ definitely speak to someone and I'm sorry you are also feeling low. Lack of sleep definitely doesnt help with anything, it's tough.

@CouscousEvaporator hi again! I know what you mean about wanting to take the bump off. Generally I love it but some days I think I'm done now, then remind myself I've got a good few weeks yet!

Ive got the midwife later today too. First one where I think I will get measured. All I think about is remembering the urine sample, so sad!! I feel so behind a lot you, going to be so jealous when I have to wait for my baby Haha.

@Treacle81 at both our scans they said it cannot be anything but a boy. The heartbeat suggested a girl too, however I think it really is just an old wives tale as later on the heartbeat was then "boy". Hope you enjoy the day with your family.

AutumnBabyWinterMummy · 22/07/2020 12:41

Hi everyone, sorry to those who are feeling down. I definitely have my good and bad days. Generally I'm worse at the weekend when everyone I'm close to is now starting to live a bit more of a normal life and I feel left out before I'm being careful. I also some evenings get this feeling which I can only describe it feels like being homesick (I'm not homesick but it's how I feel!) so at that point I just go to bed however early it is so I don't have to feel it anymore!!

Also a while back a few of us were saying our noses are blocked. Mines been much better but I came across these nose strips which I've never used before. Anyway I used the other night and I could breathe perfectly in bed it was like a miracle! Might be worth trying if anyone still in same boat xx

MummyBearBoo · 22/07/2020 12:55

@Zaalfruit -thanks -the clothes are from George/Asda online I've also ordered some Disney short sleeved body suits they're due today!

I'm constantly tired atm part of it is coz my eye is sore after the op tho!

We off to my in laws place in Brid for a week on 1st August so I'll start packing my hospital bag after that I'll be 31 weeks and having a scan the Tuesday after we get back!

Got my midwife appt on Friday it'll be first time I've seen her since 5 weeks when I got booked in!

Anyone know where I can get some pink and top-knot new. Born hats from? Xxx

FourPlasticRings · 22/07/2020 13:36

@Treaclepie19 I got the same sort of non-response from mine, I'm afraid. I think they might just make a note to check up on us more after the baby is born in case of post partum anxiety/depression.

The heart rate thing is an old wives' tale, according to studies. Fun though. Mine is about 130 I think. Team yellow, so I don't know, but I do think it's a boy just because the pregnancy has been totally different from with my daughter. Saying that, last night I had a very vivid dream where the baby was here and I opened the nappy to check- definitely a girl. It's going to be so hard to resist finding out at the 36 week scan! Anyone else had dream reveals?

MummyBearBoo · 22/07/2020 14:07

I'm think should check before tho coz PND can start prior to the baby being born!!

FourPlasticRings · 22/07/2020 14:12

I think if it starts during pregnancy, that counts as antenatal depression rather than post natal. Antenatal depression makes pnd more likely but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion. I had a friend with antenatal depression but she was fine post-natally.

Treaclepie19 · 22/07/2020 14:39

To be honest they don't seem to really care do they. I'm sorry yours was dismissive too @FourPlasticRings.

I keep saying I'll phone the number on DHs work health insurance because it applies for me and DS too. Must try and do it when I have time without ds in the room.

I do feel in a bad state today. I've never had medication for my OCD but if things carry on this badly I may have to try it when baby arrives.

Been reading about apparently third trimester is when the hormones are out of sync . I just feel mad and angry - dh and I have had so many arguments over the last few days. I hope everyone perks up a bit - I hate the situation we are in , I want to visit friends , family have a normally work life balance . At the moment feels like everything a bit pants - might as well live in a cave and give birth there .

@MummyBearBoo adorable s clothes in George and apparently they wash well so my sils say!

I can’t be bothered to do my hospital bag and baby I don’t know why Confused

otterbaby · 22/07/2020 16:22

@Zaalfruit I didn't realise that about the third trimester. Just googled it and it says that our hormones will be 6 times higher than pre-pregnancy in the third trimester. Just reading that made tears spring to my eyes 😭 pathetic!

Apparently we have increased body hair to look forward to as well. Thought we were past that bit 😒

Treacle81 · 22/07/2020 16:23

Hi girls! Yes I'm hoping it's old wives tale, saying that healthy baby is all I ask for. I had a lovely wee visit thanks. My nana kindly reminded me that the baby still has approximately 5 more pounds to gain 😳 I am running out of space lol. @Zaalfruit I am not even thinking that far regarding hospital bag etc either, plenty of time yet xx

StrawberrySprinkles · 22/07/2020 16:30

Hey everyone! Sorry to hear others are struggling with their mental health too - it’s been so tough with the pandemic on top of pregnancy hormones and general aches and pains!

I cried the other day when all the apps and websites recommend swimming and yoga classes to ease stress and achey-ness - I just don’t feel like it’s safe enough to go swimming even though I desperately want to! 😖

Also get frustrated that I feel like I’m relying on DH to take on more of the housework and maintenance jobs that I usually do - just feel like I sit around and have to ask for things to be done rather than being able to do things myself, I’ve been getting bad ligament pain under my bump and SPD 😕

I was just wondering if anyone has been struggling to sleep too? I wake up every 3 hours or so in the night which obviously isn’t helping 😬

Sorry for the big old moan! Really appreciate having everyone here to chat away to xx

MrsD1990 · 22/07/2020 17:44

Sending love to everyone feeling down. It's a lot to deal with at the best of times, extra tough when pregnant during a pandemic.

To everyone struggling with sleep - I'm right they're with you! Not slept properly for the past three nights and work has been insanely busy. I have tomorrow and Friday off though so hoping to sleep in!! I have an annoying habit of wanting to sleep in all week and then on Saturday naturally walking up early so hoping I'll sleep in on these days off.

Husband is working tomorrow so I'll probably spend my day off doing life admin and taking it as easy as possible. We're both off on Friday though so we've booked to go to the zoo. It felt like quite a safe, socially distanced day out and we haven't had a day out for the entirety of lockdown so really looking forward to it! Especially since we're no longer having a babymoon (combination of Covid and husband wanting to save annual leave for when baby is here)

BettyBotter1 · 22/07/2020 18:27

@CouscousEvaporator I bought the BabyGo 4 in 1 belt from Amazon and find it helps when out for a walk if bump feels heavy.

Sorry those not feeling great, try to be gentle on yourselves in what are far from normal times.

Does anyone know if most zip sleep suits have double zips so you can get into them from the feet end too for easier nappy change? If I'm buying any that's what I'm after.

BettyBotter1 · 22/07/2020 18:33

@StrawberrySprinkles I also miss swimming and am very tempted to go, could arrive in costume and possibly dry off as best as possible afterwards then shower at home. I'm going to look at my local pool's website and see how few ppl they are accepting.
@MrsD1990 zoo trip sounds wonderful, enjoy

NWnature · 22/07/2020 20:23

@BettyBotter1 I know wondersuits have that double zip situation. I got an adorable terry towelling one. Some of the designs are a bit wild so maybe not to everyone’s taste.

Sending loads of love to all those feeling a bit up and down. Completely understandable given the circumstances.

I’m feeling ok just have sporadic moments of pure panic as feel like I’m juggling loads at the moment. Work is so busy and obviously starting to plan handover etc adds to the stress. Our house renovation is in full swing and the builders are great so far but all the decision making (and money) is added stress. I can’t nest/ get organised with baby stuff because I’m so focused on the house .

I would love to swim and go to a yoga class. I’m still doing no exercise bar the occasional walk though I have switched out my chair for the ball at the desk all day now if I can manage it.
