@blankiesandunicorns aww lovely ! I agree you don’t hear too many Robyns but I like that it’s a normal name.

Love all the other names people have mentioned!

Ohh @BntTowers hope you feel better! Well done on the hospital bag - so organised! I can’t face it yet.

Just got back from Mamas and Papas appointment- we’ve bought the Ocarro! The folding system was so easy and I think it will be great on Hampstead Heath, really sturdy. We will get the Babyzen Yo-yo too i think for travel and nipping around once the baby is a bit older.

blankiesandunicorns · 16/08/2020 15:37

@BntTowers Phoebe Esme is lovely! My faves are Maeve Amber and Marnie Eve but unfortunately my DH doesn't agree!

@otterbaby he's a 1 year old cockapoo and quite highly strung. He's very protective over me, has got worse since pregnancy and lock down and my training techniques aren't working I just don't know if I'm doing the right things and getting nervous for when baby is here and me becoming more stressed about it.

Treaclepie19 · 16/08/2020 15:40

Ooh @NWnature lovely! My dh just put our ocarro up this morning 😁😁 It feels so real and I flipping love it.

Aww beautiful names, I really liked Caspar also but partner didn't. 😔 Hope we agree on something! Just a heads up, watched a maternity hospital vid reg hospital bags and the mw advised bringing 6 outfits for baby. I was only planning on 3! Also that it will be cotton wool only allowed on the ward, which I remember from my sons birth, was just a complete nightmare. They bring in all these chemical free wipes nowadays, almost water etc so dont see why we are still in old ages, using cotton wool. Just makes nappy changing so much more difficult, esp with the first tarry, sticky poo. She even said to use it to wipe bum for the first few weeks!! I'll do it in hospital then move onto wipes I've bought! xx

Zaalfruit · 16/08/2020 16:32

@Treacle81 I was thinking three outfits only ! I’m taking some cotton wool and water wipes . Ftm so already feel Over whelmed.

Anyone feeling nauseous- I’m feeling worse than first trimester.

NWnature · 16/08/2020 16:58

Ahh amazing @Treaclepie19 which colour did you go for? The folding just seemed so much better than the bugaboos etc you don’t have to take any parts of and so on. I really hope it’s the right choice! Such a minefield. I loved the new Strada one but I think it’s too similar to the Yo-yo and wouldn’t cut it in the woods/ rural walks etc.

@Zaalfruit I’ve not been too bad with nausea but definitely beginning to look forward keenly to the end of pregnancy. Hope you feel better.

@Treacle81 my mw hasn’t said anything about my hospital bag yet so no idea what the policy is but surely they can’t boss you about too much with your own baby? Cotton wool and water sounds so old school if the water wipes are ok for sensitive skin.

blankiesandunicorns · 16/08/2020 17:09

@Zaalfruit my nausea has came back too, think it's made worse by heart burn though which has kicked in some days. TMI - but also getting diarrhoea a lot as well. It's horrible isn't it with being big and the joys that come with that too

Treacle81 · 16/08/2020 17:16

Yea I'm finding that I'm nauseous again, wasn't sure if heat but no sun today, that and really bad heartburn. Baby has also moved non stop which has been very unconfortable. Can't believe still got 7 weeks 😭 @NWnature You would think not! I'm taking my water wipes too, surely they don't stand over you whilst you change your own baby lol xx

Treacle81 · 16/08/2020 17:16

I thought 3 was enough @Zaalfruit but I'll pop more in when I'm sorting it xx

BntTowers · 16/08/2020 17:17

I have ended up packing 5 outfits, 3 newborn size and 2 0-3 months. I'm so unsure what to take and nobody seems to put actually amounts a lot of the time! On the NHS website it just says "clothes including hat and nappies"
I figure at the moment they want most people our asap so surely you don't need too many?

bluemoon2468 · 16/08/2020 17:45

I'm just packing 2 outfits, 1 newborn and 1 0-3 months. Hoping to only be in the hospital for a few hours after birth all going to plan. If I end up having a longer stay for whatever reason then my husband will have to bring some more in, which should be fine as he'll only be able to be around for visiting hours anyway so he'll be back and forth, and we only live a 12 min drive from the hospital.

I'm also taking water wipes. If they insist on me using cotton wool then they're welcome to provide it 😆 Not sure they can actually tell you what to do with your own baby, surely they can only make suggestions?

Quiffy · 16/08/2020 18:21

@LexiM great bargain on the baby bjorn! Heard great things about them

@otterbaby ahh all that food prep will be amazing when baby gets here. I can’t even be bothered doing dinner tonight 😹

@NWnature love Robin/Robyn! Was the isofix base hard to install? It’s one of the scary things left to do on our list

@HerondaleDucks so exciting on your living room! We moved everything out our nursery/office ready for decorators tomorrow and now they’re not coming until next week 😭 love Ennis as a name!

@Treacle81 glad you got lots of sleep, sore arm not so fun :( Casper is such a lovely name. I’ve heard that on wipes too, I’m just taking the water ones though, I’ve decided against letting these midwives stres me out. It’s my baby and water wipes will be fine

@Treaclepie19 ahh I’m so happy you’re defo going for Elodie as middle name it’s gorgeous

@blankiesandunicorns sorry about your dog :( that sounds super stressful

@BntTowers love all those names ❤️ Sorry you’re not feeling great, you too @MrsK89

@Zaalfruit nausea here but it’s never left. I have noticed it ramping up in the mornings again, I’ve been retching even taking my tablets. Think it will stay until baby here 😹

I started packing my hospital bag today, finding it hard to fit everything in. The maternity pads take up half of it never mind the rest of my stuff😩 For baby bag, I’ve got 4 x newborn and 1 x up to 1 month zipper bags ready. Think I’ll take 3 x 0-3 month zippers just because dh will be confused. I doubt he’ll pick things that go with each other, just in case newborn is snug. I’m hoping by packing too much it will tempt the fates into letting me go home the next day 😹🤞

NWnature · 16/08/2020 18:47

@Quiffy isofix base was fine and we were scrabbling over a 3 door A1 so not much room to manoeuvre! The leg stand bit took a bit of fiddling with to get the green light but generally was ok. Not sure if they all come with that system but ours had a red/ green indicator for when you’ve got it right and also a beeeping sound if it’s not secure enough. Will be so much easier than faffing with seatbelts for sure! Especially in our tiny car. Not sure how much I will use the swivelling feature at the moment but can imagine once we have a 5 door car and the baby is a bit bigger and heavier it will help loads.

That said.... For all of the car seat / pram practice I still reckon it will be mega stressful when juggling a wriggling , crying baby 😆 eeeek

Treaclepie19 · 16/08/2020 18:53

@NWnature its grey. I'm not sure of the actual colour but it was an amazing deal we got on very. I think it's the old style grey.
We had the armadillo flip xt with ds1 so was going to get the same again but the occaro looks brilliant so I'm glad we went for the deal.

@Quiffy Got my own way in the end haha. I think it's just perfect 😊

MummyBearBoo · 16/08/2020 20:28

I loved Elodie as a first babe but DH vetoed it! We're still to make our shortlist!! Xx

HerondaleDucks · 16/08/2020 21:15

So I'm 33 weeks... and for some reason my DH is still actively trying to have sex with me every week.
At what point can I tell him to leave me alone? Cause I seem to still be having to do it once a week and it just makes me feel like I'm in a porno cause the only way I sort of feel comfortable is well you know... on my hands and knees.
I'm tired of having to have sex. I just want to be left alone. Cause if he's not wanting sex I have to feel awkward whilst he has a wank next to me.
Any tips on this? Is anyone else feeling pressured into this?

mamamemmmer · 16/08/2020 21:20

Anyone else due 7th October? X

otterbaby · 16/08/2020 21:28

@HerondaleDucks ugh, how annoying! My sex drive plummeted about halfway through so DH and I haven't had sex in ages. He's been understanding about it. If it feels like he's getting a bit moody from it (men 😂) I'll offer to have a 'simultaneous wank' which isn't as much effort, he still loves it and tbh helps me sleep anyway. I think you just need to be up front with him that it's not comfortable and he needs to chill - feelings hurt or not. You're heavily pregnant and your comfort is priority at the minute! And he'll have to get used to a dry spell once baby comes and you're off limits for a few months!

Treaclepie19 · 16/08/2020 21:31

@HerondaleDucks I'd talk to him. You should never feel pressured into it.
We haven't had sex once this prgenancy and my DH hasn't moaned or anything.
If he's pressuring you now you want to sort it before baby comes because you'll be feeling even less up for it.
I cant think of anything less sexy than a man grumping about getting no sex.

Im due 7th oct @mamamemmmer :)

@blankiesandunicorns I have the same issue - thought it was only me . (Dh is horrified)

Also this whole business of cotton balls and water sound so tedious - my hospital has a small jug written as well I assume it’s for the water for the nappy changes .

@HerondaleDucks I feel for you - my dh has not come close to me for months . I told
Him if we try I might vomit on him and I told him his business must be done - with the lights off with minimal movements .

otterbaby · 16/08/2020 21:43

@Zaalfruit I thought the small jug might have been for pouring over your bits while you wee?

I'm reluctantly bringing cotton wool to the hospital but not happy about it, would much rather use water wipes until we switch over to cheeky wipes!

HerondaleDucks · 16/08/2020 22:11

Thanks ladies. I will try and have a chat with him. It's not something you have to think about before getting pregnant. But yeah I was kinda hoping now I'm so rotund it might put him off... but no such luck!

LexiM · 16/08/2020 23:51

@HerondaleDucks We are having sex now and again but definitely no pressure. My husband has actually never really mentioned it which has surprised me but I am glad as I would feel really down if he kept going on about it. Physically pregnancy is so hard now on us so I think he needs to be considerate of that above any needs. I hope your chat goes well.

I have got water wipes and cotton wool for hospital. I have no idea really! I've got most of babies stuff in a pile but not packed. In terms of outfits I've gone for x3 newborn and x1 0-3 months. No hospital is going to let you go without basic things for baby if you need more outfits they will let Dad bring more in so I'm quite relaxed. They can hardly say sorry no baby must be naked because you ran out!

For myself I've only collected about half the stuff I need for my hospital bag. I just cannot seem to be bothered to get it all organised but not too worried as still have weeks to go. If he comes now I would be very shocked although I know not impossible.

My cousins adopted son was lovely. He is just so thrilled to have a family and so chatty. It was hard to keep telling him he couldn't touch us because he wanted to give us hugs! I find it so sad that nobody wanted to adopt him from 3, he is now 4 because he was "too old", it's still so young.

@nwnature glad your sorted on the pram front, sounds like a great choice. We had considered the occaro as its meant to be good on all terrain. Makes it all feel very real doesnt it!

Zaalfruit · 17/08/2020 00:14

@otterbaby oh gosh I really Got it wrong with the small jug. That sounds like a better use of a small jug - if it’s for that reason then I’m just taking a peri bottle.

( @HerondaleDucks deffo talk to him . )

@LexiM that so sad that 3/ 4 is considered to old to Adopt . Breaks my heart .

All this pram talk And bag packing - makes me fee nervous . I have given up on everything just feel demotivated . I just feel like the end line is so far - feels like we have been pregnant all year.

Spark27 · 17/08/2020 03:08

I think since finding out I was pregnant we've only had sex sporadically @Herondaleducks. 1st tri was fully of nausea, 2nd was ok (but having DD means I'm still tired and have to take chances where I can) and now I'm just too big and uncomfortable. And my bits seem all swollen anyway (esp episiotomy scar, sorry tmi) Fortunately DH seems to understand. I leave him to sort himself out. You'll be out of bounds for a while post labour. I think medically you should wait about 6 weeks til your check up, but I didnt feel up to it for a good few months, physically and mentally.

So amazing to hear about your cousins adoption @LexiM, but so sad that 3/4 is considered too old.

When we had DD and she ended up in SCBU they put a bag of cotton wool balls out for her nappy changes. Such a faff. Esp with the first really sticky poos. I'm just taking wipes. They're not going to not let me clean my baby, and if they insist on cotton wool they can provide. My bag is getting so full with maternity pads, breast pads, nappies, etc that I'm not adding cotton wool in.
