Hi!
I very recently got my positive result after a FET. (This is my second child. First one conceived through a fresh cycle). Just wondered anyone in a similar position wanted to join, and help keep us calm until scan day!

I am only 4+2 weeks. Still so, so early. Can’t wait for my 7 week scan!

@ValidUser @ivfdreaming i haven’t had any PGS. To be honest I didn’t know it was on offer. I transferred a 5aa - but didn’t read up on or ask what the grade was, the doctor told me minutes before she transferred it. Worried now it might not be good!

ValidUser · 02/08/2020 13:30

@BabySweet85 chances are, if an embryo implants it's pretty good. And 5aa is excellent, which increases the probability that it's euploid.

Even PGS doesn't guarantee anything.

BabySweet85 · 02/08/2020 13:40

Aww thanks @ValidUser and you are a doctor so i like that! 😊

ivfdreaming · 02/08/2020 13:44

Yes No guarantees with PGS as it's not 100% accurate

5aa is very good in terms of cell structure etc and is the best you can get

But Embryo grading on day 5 doesn't correlate at all to chromosome normality/abnormality

A better indicator is how it progresses day 1 to 3 - as studies have shown embryos which don't have equal cell division in the first few hours/days or which don't progress to the next stage within a certain number of hours tend to have higher abnormality rates but again compared to the 100,000s of IVF cycles per year that are done worldwide only a very few are a studied for research purposes

I had to go through loads of genetic counselling with my PGS testing - MOST embryos with chromosome issues won't implant or will try to but fail - that's why you get chemical pregnancies or early miscarriages - most miscarriages result from chromosome issues - fewer people actually have blood clotting/thryroid etc factors which cause recurrent losses. There are only 3 chromosome abnormalities (so far) which can result in a live birth - T13 T18 T21 or Edwards Pateus and Downs - and then there are a couple of triploidy ones where there is an extra sex chromosome

Here are a few recent enough studies outlining the correlation and limitations of morphology when PGS has been conducted.

There are countless other chromosome issues, such as translocations, intersex conditions and mosaicism that can be picked up. And there are other conditions that PGD is used for, but those are far more specific.

But no test is perfect, and we'd have none of this info if we got pregnant the old fashioned way.

I'm trying not to overthink, but that's never been my strong suit.

ivfdreaming · 02/08/2020 14:01

@ValidUser

That's why I decided not to PGS anymore as I felt the limitations meant I could discard embryos which still could lead to a healthy baby - I struggle to believe that following cycle 2 where I had zero normal embryos (14 eggs collected) that I could then have just 2 eggs collected on cycle 3 and both be normal (and currently the indicators are that they are since they are my twins) x

ValidUser · 02/08/2020 14:04

@ivfdreaming that's really amazing! We didn't PGS either, but we didn't have many to test anyway.

I'm so excited about your twins!

BabySweet85 · 02/08/2020 16:00

@ValidUser @ivfdreaming we used the embryoscope which checked the embryos every 20 minutes so hopefully that helped in some way.

I am starting to feel the need to wear a bra in bed. Boobs hurt so much when i wake up - anyone else feel like this?

ivfdreaming · 03/08/2020 09:22

Morning all well I rang up to book the NIPT Panorama test and she said they have a slot today at 1.45 so going to pop in on the way to my midwife appointment as the clinics practically next door and it's only a blood test 🤣

Apparently they get couriered to America where the tests are done 🤷‍♀️

£380 but I think it will hopefully settle some of the anxiety - results back in 7-10 working days 😬

BeHereNowx32 · 03/08/2020 09:24

@ivfdreaming the timing sounds like it was meant to be! Good luck x

@ivfdreaming great news that it was done so quickly! America? I didn’t know that!

Fingers crossed for your results x

ValidUser · 03/08/2020 14:08

@BabySweet85 I find bras make my boobs hurt more. And I am well endowed, so going braless may result in injury to face!

@ivfdreaming that's great that you're being fit in so quickly and you'll have the result so soon.

ivfdreaming · 03/08/2020 15:11

@ValidUser

I was a 34A before I had my DD - when I got measured after I finished breastfeeding and I was a 36D I didn't know whether to wear the bra or frame it! My male boss asked what I was so happy about that day and I just blurted it out to him! Bless him he did congratulate me though! 🤣

ValidUser · 03/08/2020 16:03

@ivfdreaming that made me properly laugh.

I'm nervous today because I don't feel as awful as I have in the past week. Scan in 2 days.

BeHereNowx32 · 03/08/2020 16:15

@ivfdreaming wow that’s a big difference! Can’t say I’ve ever been anywear near size DD!

@BabySweet85 my boobs aren’t sore atm. Maybe you could get measured soon for some comfy bras for bed. Nice treat lol

@ValidUser yeah, definitely feeling the same as you. I’m still tired, but I think everyone is always tired anyway lol
Do you have any plans tomorrow for distraction the day before scan?
X

ValidUser · 03/08/2020 16:35

@BeHereNowx32 work! That should keep me busy. How about you?

BeHereNowx32 · 03/08/2020 16:39

@ValidUser oh yeah, that’s a big distraction. Hope it’s not a stressful day.
No plans yet, and I think it’s to rain. But it will be ok. Will just try and chill as much as I can.

With my first pregnancy I started to feel sick the day of my 7 week scan. I will probably be looking out for that tomorrow lol
All the best for the next couple of days! X

@BeHereNowx32 - I have never been measured actually but usually wear 32/34D. It would be a nice treat to get some proper bed time bras. They just feel so uncomfortable in the night, but not during the day 🤷‍♀️

BabySweet85 · 03/08/2020 16:54

@ValidUser sorry you are feeling nervous. Are you finding out if it is one or two? X

ValidUser · 03/08/2020 16:59

@BabySweet85 that's the plan, and to make sure everything's in the right place. Might see a heartbeat, but not too worrying if we don't yet.

BabySweet85 · 03/08/2020 17:01

How exciting! I hope it all goes well x

MorgenMuffel · 04/08/2020 07:40

@ivfdreaming glad you were able to get the nipt sorted so easily and hope results come back soon.

@validuser I'm a 34FF but my boobs have definitely grown and dread to think what size they are now, let alone how big they'll end up! Best bit of my day is taking my bra off. I need to buy some more but they are bloody expensive at my size so don't want to rush in. I have been sleeping in a sports bra! Also bought a cheap sleep one from ebay which is a bit more comfy at night.

My scan is today! Feeling less worried following our private one but hoping the nt measurement etc will be OK.

ivfdreaming · 04/08/2020 09:01

@MorgenMuffel

Good luck today! This must be your 12 week scan? X

BeHereNowx32 · 04/08/2020 09:51

@MorgenMuffel good luck. Enjoy seeing baby! X
