Hi!
I very recently got my positive result after a FET. (This is my second child. First one conceived through a fresh cycle). Just wondered anyone in a similar position wanted to join, and help keep us calm until scan day!

I am only 4+2 weeks. Still so, so early. Can’t wait for my 7 week scan!

@takingthistooseriously all the best for today.

@Bestofyou1982 not long to go now.

@ivfbeenbusy hope you and twins going ok.

To be honest am looking forward to seeing little one on Monday.

Lemongrass1 · 21/02/2021 20:12

Hi sorry I’ve not posted in a long while, I’ve missed lots of news!

@RosettaR I hope all went well last week and your twins are doing OK

@thefishthatcouldwish hope growth scan goes well tomorrow

@Parkandride sorry to hear about the bleed, hope all going smoothly since then 🤞

@takingthistooseriously hope induction went well yesterday

@ivfbeenbusy massive congratulations on your twins, sounds like it was a very tumultuous time before they were born. Glad they are home with you now

AFM not much going on, 25 weeks and getting v uncomfortable. Twins were 22nd and 28th centile on 24 week scan which they said was good. A bit worried how will manage the next 3 months, feel massive and so stretched already!

ivfbeenbusy · 21/02/2021 20:28

@Lemongrass1

Welcome back! Congrats on getting to 25 weeks! I found that was when having a twin pregnancy really started to get brutal! 🤣 your twins sound like they are growing well which is great news so hopefully you'll make it further than me and won't need a NICU stay 🤞🤞
My twins are 5 weeks old now - the last few weeks have disappeared in a total blur! 💤😬

thefishthatcouldwish · 22/02/2021 20:21

@ivfbeenbusy omg 5 weeks 😱

Growth scan went well. He was loving playing with the cord which was lovely to see . Baby currently breach though but I figure there is plenty of time to move him.

takingthistooseriously · 22/02/2021 21:15

Hi all so lovely to see lots of good news on the thread Smile

@ivfbeenbusy 5 weeks! Blimey!

I was induced on Saturday but didn't quite go to plan and ended up with an emergency section unfortunately. The result is a beautiful baby boy though and we're both healthy. DH and I are really smitten 🥰

Bestofyou1982 · 22/02/2021 21:49

@takingthistooseriously massive congratulations. Brilliant news!

@thefishthatcouldwish great news with scan.

It's so lovely to read so much good news x

jonrik · 22/02/2021 21:58

Aww so many new babies, it's soo lovely to hear. I'm still at the very early "is this all real?" Stage. Can't wait for the next few months to pass. In pregnancy and from a lockdown perspective!

ivfbeenbusy · 23/02/2021 07:15

@takingthistooseriously

Congratulations!!!! 🥳🥳 welcome to the world baby takingthistooseriously! 💙

Parkandride · 23/02/2021 11:41

Welcome baby @takingthistooseriously Flowers
Huge congratulations, hope recovery goes ok.

Bet its amazing to have them here, pregnancy feels so long but when you add the years of treatment it's such a wait! Think we'll be 4.5 years from first fertility appointment to holding a baby

Bestofyou1982 · 23/02/2021 20:23

@Parkandride I so know what you mean. It still doesn't feel quite real that sometime soon we'll have our very own little person to join our family after so long.

Similarly to you we began trying to start a family in 2016. Feel so lucky that we may finally be starting a family in a few weeks, all being well.

thefishthatcouldwish · 24/02/2021 06:39

@takingthistooseriously congratulations 🥳! Hope your recovery is going ok.

Hello @Lemongrass1 glad twins are growing well 😀.

Am feeling very tired have a week and half before I work from home being 28 weeks and don’t feel great. I have a staff shortage meaning basically me and my assistant are in all day this week without a break.

RosettaR · 25/02/2021 17:26

Thanks for the good wishes everyone! We had our twins last Wednesday at 34+1 as planned, measuring 5lb and 4lb 1oz. They were in special care initially and then on Saturday we were moved to a transitional care unit where I have been staying with the babies. The main issue is feeding as the little one in particular often is just too tired to take in very much. It's also been a steep learning curve for me as a first time mum, plus the specific issues with premature babies as you need them to eat but you don't want to tire them out. With feeding I've been doing lots of expressing and my supply was really good, but since yesterday I've not been able to keep up with demand so we've been using formula too. I'm unsure how much to try direct breastfeeding as it really tires them out. Different people here give different advice! But expressing and bottle feeding is really time consuming. @ivfbeenbusy are you breasg feeding direct?

I will have to catch up with the thread soon as one of my babies now wants a nappy change and feed! Hope everyone is OK.

ivfbeenbusy · 25/02/2021 18:04

@RosettaR

Fantastic news! Great that you are in transitional care already rather than have to go home and leave like them I did!

With my little one feeding only really started progressing once she went on 3 hourly feeds rather than 2 hourly - I also used to alternate as she got very tired. So would breastfeed one feed then the next would be the tube feed but could obviously only do that whilst I was with them so for 1/2 day only - are yours also tube fed??

With the expressing are you doing it by hand or have the hospital given you a pump? I was ok doing a combination of both as had the electric pump as well

I'm breastfeeding direct for every feed but only did it once we were in transitional care - so 37 weeks old? The hospital wouldn't let me do transitional until 50% minimum of the feeds I was there for were breastfed (but the hospital did say they had some mums come in for 10 days to transitions which sounds like what they are doing with you rather than the 2 nights I did?)

My advice would be to do every other and work up - maybe only try doing breathing every other feed once they are around 36-37 weeks?

My twins are 6 weeks old now - I was exclusively breastfeeding until a day or so ago but struggling with the night times at the moment as they seem particularly hungry so started to introduce the odd bottle as I didn't seem to be able to keep up with them!

Parkandride · 26/02/2021 17:01

Huge congratulations @RosettaR I bet it is such a learning curve but it sounds like they are doing so well Flowers

ivfbeenbusy · 06/03/2021 02:40

How is everyone getting on? I'm having another sleepless night with my twins 😬

thefishthatcouldwish · 06/03/2021 03:34

@RosettaR congratulations 🥳

@ivfbeenbusy sleepless nights with twins sounds hard going.

Currently awake with chronic tooth ache for 8 th night running. Have appointment Tuesday with dentist

takingthistooseriously · 06/03/2021 04:44

@ivfbeenbusy currently awake with fussy baby as well! He's been up since 12:30 and I couldn't sleep before that because DH was being noisy, I'm exhausted!

@thefishthatcouldwish dental pain is awful, hope you get it sorted soon

Parkandride · 06/03/2021 10:48

Seeing these middle of the night messages makes me scared! Though I did have a good cry in the early hours the other night as I was so tired but uncomfortable, just giving DH some practice Grin

Oh @thefishthatcouldwish toothache is the worst pain, hope they can help you on Tuesday

ivfbeenbusy · 06/03/2021 13:15

I managed to get A couple of hours at 3am finally!

My Fitbit has given up tracking my sleep now 🤣 I'm averaging about 4-6 hours but in 90mins to 2 hourly intervals which is brutal! 🤣

Little twin seems to be going off breastfeeding so been looking er getting one of those Tommee tipped prep machines? Never used formulae before as always used the ready to pour milk but with twins it will be so expensive and formulae will be much cheaper - just can't be done with the faff of boiling water/letting it cool etc! 😬

ivfbeenbusy · 06/03/2021 13:16

@Parkandride

Don't worry you soon get used to the sleep deprivation 🤣

My DH moved himself into the spare room
Whilst I was still Pregnant and hasn't moved
Back in yet! I also use the wee hours to plan his murder when I hear him snoring happily away! 🤣

thefishthatcouldwish · 09/03/2021 05:46

@ivfbeenbusy lots of people I know who have prep machine who swear by it. I hit a second hand one in fantastic condition as I plan to breast feed but am not putting myself under pressure despite the midwife being very pro breastfeeding.

Dentist today yay 🤞🤞 that they can do something

ivfbeenbusy · 09/03/2021 05:54

@thefishthatcouldwish

Thanks! I've been looking on eBay and can pick one up for about £30 for the day/night digital one. Little twin has been on formulae for last few days and been making bottles up as per the instructions and it's not been going too bad x

thefishthatcouldwish · 09/03/2021 10:45

Is the formula helping little twin @ivfbeenbusy?

Had wisdom tooth out which seems ok but bleeding a bit. Which doesn’t seem to be stopping much at moment

thefishthatcouldwish · 09/03/2021 10:47

Sorry what I meant was is little twin taking bottle ok?

ivfbeenbusy · 09/03/2021 11:33

@thefishthatcouldwish

Hope the teeth feel better soon 🤞

Yes she takes the bottle fine - I used nipple shields from day 1 in the hospital with them being premature it was the only way they'd breastfeed but I also think it has meant they are better at mixing bottle with breast as used to that kind of plastic teat shape if that makes sense. So she went on the bottle straight away no issues and big twin occasionally has a bottle when I feel all milked out and he goes between the two no problem
