Hi!
I very recently got my positive result after a FET. (This is my second child. First one conceived through a fresh cycle). Just wondered anyone in a similar position wanted to join, and help keep us calm until scan day!

I am only 4+2 weeks. Still so, so early. Can’t wait for my 7 week scan!

Yes have been calmer too but where I work a child has come down with slapped cheek so am waiting for results of bloods to see if I’m immune

RosettaR · 01/12/2020 18:53

@thefishthatcouldwish I'm sorry you're in that position, it sounds stressful. Do you know when the results are expected?

I'm suffering the anxiety too, I've had quite bad pain in my right side every evening which I'm scared is kidney related, I've tested negative for an infection and have a doctors appointment tomorrow. It feels like its been one thing after another this pregnancy and I just wish I could have some calm time!

My husband felt the babies move for the first time yesterday though which was a lovely moment.

thefishthatcouldwish · 01/12/2020 19:15

@RosettaR every time I have calm something worries me to make me not calm.

Kidney pain is horrible hope doctor has some answers.

No results for me until Friday.

thefishthatcouldwish · 01/12/2020 19:16

Must have been lovely hubby feeling baby.

Parkandride · 03/12/2020 19:40

Successful 20 week scan today, feeling so relieved.
Placenta is anterior so may be a bit before I feel movements

I was talking to the sonographer about my nerves and she said most ivf mums are the same, she said they're the most rewarding patients though which was nice Grin

ivfbeenbusy · 03/12/2020 21:46

Great news @Parkandride

Not so great update from me - I had a big bleed earlier this evening and was told to call an ambulance so been admitted for them to monitor the twins and to try and either stop them coming early or at least prepare them for an early delivery with steroids etc

Was absolutely panicked convinced id lost one or both of them but scan shows they are ok - just got to keep them in now for as long as possible x

Parkandride · 03/12/2020 21:55

Oh @ivfbeenbusy thinking of you and sending positive thoughts. Hopefully they can stop things but you're in the best place. How far on are you now? Must be getting on towards 30 week Flowers

ivfbeenbusy · 03/12/2020 22:04

Thanks @Parkandride - I'm nearly 29 weeks wanted to get at least to 30 weeks and ideally 32 weeks or for the babies to be at least 4 lbs - not sure what they weight at the moment - they were about 2lbs a fortnight ago - I have to stay in hospital now till hopefully the bleeding stops

Parkandride · 04/12/2020 06:44

How did you get on overnight?

ivfbeenbusy · 04/12/2020 07:05

@Parkandride

Doing ok thanks! Babies still doing ok in there - not allowed home until the bleeding stops for more than 24 hours so just a wait and see game now x

thefishthatcouldwish · 04/12/2020 07:09

@ivfbeenbusy hope your night has been ok and that your babies have behaved and stayed put. Been thinking about you.

@Parkandride glad scan went well.

RosettaR · 04/12/2020 07:51

@ivfbeenbusy so sorry you had such a terrifying experience. I'm so glad the babies are ok though. I've got exactly the same timeline in my mind, really want to get to 30 weeks if I can as the statistics are so much better at that point. You are so nearly there! I hope you're getting good care and that the bleeding stops soon. Let us know how you get on. Flowers

@Parkandride I think my placenta is anterior too (was low but then moved up), I started feeling movements around 22 weeks so it might not be long! I found the 20 week scan really reassuring, they check so many things that it felt great for them to find nothing wrong with either of them!

ivfbeenbusy · 04/12/2020 18:46

@RosettaR

Thanks. It was awful as the bleed came out of nowhere no pain or anything - just stood up and there was a big gush. I rang the maternity hospital and they said call an ambulance which felt really weird about as don't like to feel like i'm being a bother which i know is silly. Plus I was in bits and trying not to scare DD and DH was upset as he wasn't allowed to come with me and hasn't been able to visit me at all or bring me anything.

Just had a scan to check all the measurements and little madam seems to have caught up in a few places - femur length is looking better and twin discordance if I've calculated it right looks to be down to 15%

The baby intensive care unit doctor came down for a chat to manage expectations and talk through what it's like so I feel more prepared for when it happens (rather than if - they've said basically all babies under 36 weeks and under a certain weight will go into NICU) and we have to plan for them to be in until what would have been 40 weeks but depends how they are doing if they come out sooner

thefishthatcouldwish · 05/12/2020 11:32

@ivfbeenbusy how are you feeling now? Hope you have been overnight.

Glad you have spoken to baby intensive care doctor. How do you feel now about that?

ivfbeenbusy · 05/12/2020 17:11

@thefishthatcouldwish

Finally home thank goodness! I'm definitely going to keep a little emergency bag in case have to go in again with spare pants and stuff to have a shower with and clean teeth as haven't been able to do any of that in 2 days 😬

At the moment just been told to carry on as I was - got to have some extra scans to monitor the babies but otherwise it's very much wait and see

I feel ok about intensive care - I always knew it was likely especially for the smaller twin so I suppose I'm just resigned to it now. I feel better that both DH and I can go in together as didn't want DH to feel left out and wouldn't have any bonding time as I'd want to hog all the visiting hours. But sad that DD won't be able to see them until they are home though x

Lemongrass1 · 07/12/2020 08:21

@Parkandride glad your 20 week scan went well!

@RosettaR @thefishthatcouldwish hope you are both doing ok

@ivfbeenbusy so sorry to hear of the stressful experience you had ☹️ I had similar bleeding but much earlier, a big gush out of the blue with no warning. Can understand how terrifying it must have been. I hope you can take it easy and that your twins stay put for as long as possible 🤞🤞

AFM both panorama, NHS screening and NT have come back low risk. We are having a boy and a girl! 14+2 today and really hoping we don’t have any more drama. BTW does anyone know how to interpret PAPP-A with twins? Was 1.68 which I think is OK?? Can only find info on levels with a singleton. X

RosettaR · 07/12/2020 09:27

@ivfbeenbusy that sounds absolutely terrifying but I'm so glad you are through it now. Its great that the little girl appears to have caught up a bit!

Also good you got to speak to the NICU doctor. I'm not sure how I'm feeling about the whole thing. I did a twins ante natal course at the weekend and it made me feel a bit upset because they were all talking about skin to skin and stuff, but I know my babies will most likely be whisked off to NICU and I won't get to see them for a little while. I checked what the visiting policy is at ours, parents are allowed in 24 hours but during covid restrictions only one parent at a time, and no other visitors. So at least we'll be able to see them as much as we want, but sad that parents won't be able to.

@Lemongrass1 I'm so glad everything is going well for you and that so exciting you're having a boy and a girl! I am having two boys. No idea about papp-a I'm afraid.

ivfbeenbusy · 07/12/2020 10:51

@Lemongrass1

Congratulations! Not sure on Papp A either but I'd be encouraged that everything is low risk!

@RosettaR

Is that definitely the visiting policy? I double checked mine and it's one parent PER baby - so with twins both DH and I can go in?

It is all a bit overwhelming and upsetting - I breastfed DD and wanted to do that with the twins so naively thought I'd still be able to do that in NICU but depending on how early they are they don't feed them that way - so could be weeks before i could that and not sure if milk supply with still be around?

I have another scan Wednesday and then I'll be 30 weeks at the weekend. Definite goal is 32 weeks. There was another twin mummy to be on my ward with me and sounds like they are getting most of the twins out at 36 weeks - very few making it past that now

RosettaR · 07/12/2020 19:18

@ivfbeenbusy that's interesting about it being one parent per baby, I will check that, that would be quite a good loophole for us!

Yes I want to breastfeed if I possibly can, at least for a few months to give them some of the health benefits. I did a twins trust webinar this weekend and they sent us a huge long booklet on breastfeeding twins, there is a whole section on what to do if your twins are in intensive care. It seems to be all about expressing and pumping, and the staff in NICU should support you to do that. Apparently they have breast pumps there which you can use and the staff will feed the babies the breast milk via their tube. If you are happy to PM me your email address I could send it to you. I do find the idea of the feeding tube quite upsetting though, I had surgery when I was younger and had to have a nasogastric tube and I hated it, I can imagine having a total breakdown when I see my babies with the same tube but I know its unavoidable so I will just have to manage.

Thats so exciting you're nearly at 30 weeks! I'm 24 weeks tomorrow so I think after that every week can be taken as an achievement!

RosettaR · 07/12/2020 19:25

On a slightly less serious note ... my DH asked yesterday whether we want the plastic cot that he broke when he was 3, which his parents have kept since then in case someone wants to use it. I said no, so he asked if I would be happy for the twins to sleep in it when we visit. I also said also no, because it won't conform to safety standards particularly as its broken and tied together with string! Then I was made to feel really guilty for rejecting this cot his parents have lovingly kept for 30 years ... is it just me or are my parents in law mad?

They also have a pushchair from 30 years ago but having twins means I'm not being guilt tripped into using that because its only for one baby ...

thefishthatcouldwish · 08/12/2020 07:38

@ivfbeenbusy from what I remember when my nephew was in special care my SIL expressed breast milk which he was fed via ng tube ( nasal tube) . Not the same I know but I know it helped my SIL at time.

@RosettaR erm no you are not wrong would your in laws sleep in a broken rickety bed? No so why would you want to put your grandchild in a broken cot? Let alone the huge safety implications.

Finally and slapped cheek immunity through so don’t have to worry about that one.

ivfbeenbusy · 18/12/2020 08:49

How is everyone doing? I've made it past 30 weeks thank goodness and growth scan has shown my smaller twin has caught Up a bit.
On count down now really as they could come any time 🙈

I'm so huge now though everything is uncomfortable 😢

takingthistooseriously · 18/12/2020 10:46

@ivfbeenbusy so glad to hear your little one has caught up and you've made it to 30 weeks! I bet the discomfort is awful, at times I feel bad enough and I only have one on board!
Having a panic today as I'm getting reasonably painful period type cramps this morning which I haven't had before, but my bump isn't tightening or going hard so not sure it's Braxton Hicks or something else 🤷‍♀️

ivfbeenbusy · 18/12/2020 11:19

@takingthistooseriously

How far along are you now? I've never had braxton hicks before but I do get quite bad cramps with this pregnancy if I've over done it and been on my feet too much x

takingthistooseriously · 18/12/2020 11:25

@ivfbeenbusy I'm 31 weeks today. This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea! It just started this morning and I certainly haven't been doing early morning exercise lol
