Hi!
I very recently got my positive result after a FET. (This is my second child. First one conceived through a fresh cycle). Just wondered anyone in a similar position wanted to join, and help keep us calm until scan day!

I am only 4+2 weeks. Still so, so early. Can’t wait for my 7 week scan!

@Ijustlikefood

Great news!

I had a private reassurance scan today - both twins doing well. The little girl is still little and dwarfed by her chunk of a brother. They said it's ok at the moment because we know it's two separate blastocysts but they'll make a decision at 20 weeks whether to monitor more closely. May mean moving the due date up to get her out early

They also said my placentas are at the front so will be more difficult to feel movements so something else to stress about 🤣

@ValidUser

Thanks for the tip on the Doppler - my eBay bargain arrived yesterday and was able to find both heartbeats (I think!)

RosettaR · 11/09/2020 19:11

@ivfbeenbusy that's good to know to keep my expectations low! I wondered if I should have heard from them by now, but the midwife said I probably wouldn't hear until after the 12 week scan. It's weird how disconnected the consultants seem to be from the midwives.

@BlueJayTO that's great news, I'm really glad to hear it!

@Stassi that sounds stressful, but towards the top of the normal range is still within the normal range. Hopefully once they put it together with bloods it will be more reassuring. I've got mine next week, and expect I will be really nervous!

Ijustlikefood · 11/09/2020 19:14

@ivfbeenbusy did you have the scan at your fertility clinic or else where, we've said today we will probably book some private scans just for extra reassurance really

RosettaR · 11/09/2020 19:17

Argh my messages often take ages to post and I miss things.

@Ijustlikefood that's great news, so pleased for you!

@ivfbeenbusy that's great they're both doing well! Hopefully the little girl will catch up a bit.

I am having a crap day, I think I have another infected insect bite, don't know why this keeps happening to me! The doctor gave me antibiotics but said not to take them unless it got worse. So I waited a bit. I'm regretting doing that now because I feel like my whole forearm is looking a bit red and I'm scared we'll and up at A&E in the night or tomorrow morning.

ValidUser · 11/09/2020 19:38

@ivfbeenbusy glad the doppler is suiting you. Hopefully little girl will catch up soon!

ivfbeenbusy · 11/09/2020 19:39

@RosettaR

I didn't get a twins clinic appointment until after my 12 week scan - the twin specialist rang me yesterday to see how I was and to scare the shit out of me with all the complications associated with twin pregnancy.

Then he said I should have also had a midwife appointment this week! Not heard from her since 7 weeks. Spent 90mins on hold with the doctors surgery to be told they only do midwife appointments once a week and they've cancelled them for next week so I'll have to wait until the following week 🤷‍♀️ so definitely lack of communication between midwives and consultants

@Ijustlikefood

I go to a private maternity place - they also arrange private births if you've got loads of money 🤣 (so not like the high street baby scan places) - the scans have only been £60-£70 a time though up till 20 weeks then it gets more expensive for twins. I like it as most of the nurses and sonographers also work at the NHS hospital where I'll have the twins and also the NHS hospital can log in to the private one to see the scan information.
After losing so many babies I definitely need the extra scans for peace of mind - especially having 2 babies to worry about now. The smaller twin worries me which also why I've had extra. If both had been measuring to dates I'd probably not have had so many! 🤣

BlueJayTO · 12/09/2020 00:18

@Ijustlikefood Glad to hear your scan went well!

RosettaR · 14/09/2020 07:30

@ivfbeenbusy how many weeks are you now? That's bad that they failed to offer you an appointment and you had to chase. I've got booked at the moment my 12 week scan on Thursday plus a midwife appointment at 16 weeks. Hopefully I will hear from the consultant soon. Although if they're just going to terrify me, I'm capable of doing that by myself!

@ValidUser congrats on reaching 12 weeks today. I remember because I think you're a day ahead of me and I get there tomorrow. Can't believe we're almost in the second trimester!

ivfbeenbusy · 14/09/2020 08:24

@RosettaR

I'm 17+1 today! Still worried about my little girl as having looked through the notes from Friday there is a 26% size discordance between her and her brother and anything over 20% is apparently cause for concern - feels like two babies is twice the worry! 🤣 there isn't much I can do to make her grow so just got to hope by 20 week scan she is still doing ok - hopefully her brother is just going to be a chunk and she's just going to be dainty! 🤣

Very exciting for your 12 week scan this week! You've done well not to have a sneak peak at them in the meantime! 🤣

I've got so many appointments stuck to the fridge I don't know whether I'm coming or going! X

ValidUser · 14/09/2020 12:12

@RosettaR good memory! Thanks! 😊

bunhead34 · 14/09/2020 18:22

Have most people had/having additional private scans on top of NHS?
Especially before 12 weeks?

I'm almost ten weeks, pretty keen to get a private scan, I just want to know it's in there! (Although I feel like shit so pretty sure it is!)
But DH isn't keen and says it just adds to anxiety 🤷🏼‍♀️ if I were him I'd want to see, he won't be allowed to the nhs scan!

ivfbeenbusy · 14/09/2020 20:14

@bunhead34

I had an extra one at 10 weeks as previously had a miscarriage which was only found out at the 12 week scan and didn't feel like I could go through that

I've also had an extra one at 16 weeks to break up the long time between 12&20 week scans

RosettaR · 14/09/2020 20:50

@bunhead34 I had my one at the ivf clinic at 7 weeks and that's it. Have you not had any scans? I felt I needed to know there was something in there, like you say.

bunhead34 · 14/09/2020 21:02

@RosettaR yeah I had the Ivf one at 6 weeks, that feels so long ago!

Custardandcream · 14/09/2020 21:12

Hi all, could I join please?

I’m currently 5+1 weeks after a FET, this is my second pregnancy I have a DD from a fresh cycle. I’m very paranoid and my symptoms are coming and going which isn’t helping! My viability scan is still 2 weeks away which feels like ages!

@bunhead34 in my first pregnancy I had a few private scans between 12 and 20 weeks (plus an additional nhs one at 8 weeks due to a bleed) they did help with the anxiety a bit!

RosettaR · 14/09/2020 22:19

Worried this evening, my bump is huge which I was quite pleased about (makes it feel more real), but now I've read having a large bump can be a symptom of ttts. Only a few days until my 12 week scan so hopefully I'll get some reassurance soon. It's so hard to work out what's a normal size for a first time with twins!

@Custardandcream welcome and congratulations. Good luck with your two week wait! It's so difficult isn't it.

ivfbeenbusy · 15/09/2020 07:05

@RosettaR

Mine definitely started to chunk out from 12 weeks and having met a few other women at the twins clinic all seems perfectly normal - I made the mistake of googling twin pregnancy bumps and the sizes definitely vary a lot so don't worry too much! My bump was always bigger at night and smaller in the morning - now it's just big all the time 🤣

ValidUser · 15/09/2020 10:52

I've a big old bump and there's only one in there! Gained no weight, so it's not that. I'm embracing it.

RosettaR · 15/09/2020 13:49

Thanks so much for the reassurance @ivfbeenbusy @ValidUser, you've really helped me! It is crazy how much bumps vary, I spent last night looking at various pictures online and worrying as some are so small even with twins!

I feel like my boobs have also grown quite a lot in the last week, after not much difference so far. So hopefully my body is just busy doing normal pregnancy things.

ivfbeenbusy · 15/09/2020 14:22

@RosettaR

No problem 🤣 the photos scared me rather than worried me - very nervous about how big I'm going to get! 🤰

ValidUser · 15/09/2020 14:43

If it's any reassurance, I'm 12 weeks and lying down and this is my bump.

bunhead34 · 16/09/2020 10:30

That's a lovely bump @ValidUser

Is anyone suffering insomnia? I'm so tired! Can't sleep for hours then wake up early 🤪

ValidUser · 16/09/2020 10:50

@bunhead34 I have huge trouble sleeping but then can't get up. It's a pain from a work point of view

BlueJayTO · 16/09/2020 12:32

@bunhead34 I was awake from 2am to 5am last night...

ivfbeenbusy · 17/09/2020 10:33

@RosettaR

Is your scan today?! Good luck! Xx
