So apparently I'm not getting all the update emails anymore, I need to check my settings! Haven't had an update in 4 days which I thought was a long time...then checked the thread 🤦
@Anon20something glad that Finn is here, he's beautiful. Hopefully he'll be on the mend soon and you can get him home, restrictions in special care sound really difficult and frustrating x
@MOGMOGMOG85 no one can "PUT" you on the sick. You are the only person (other than a doctor) who can make a decision about your fitness to work. You need to record his comments in yet another email, because he is once again talking out of his arse. Work cannot send you home sick unless there's a risk to others e.g. you work in a food factory and you have a sickness bug. Honestly I'd be asking HR for the grievance procedure (legally they have to have one) and be seriously considering taking things further because his behaviour is atrocious and your employer has done nothing about it. Honestly it's a good job I don't know where you work, because I'd be coming to find him and hit him with a big stick. Making financial threats against any employee is an utter disgrace. As an added extra they can't make you start mat leave early due to illness until 4 weeks before your edd, and only then when it's confirmed as pregnancy related sickness, so if you've have back problems in the past you could fight that, but it's 9 weeks down the line. I second whoever suggested getting some legal advice, even going back to maternity action, because you definitely have a discrimination case and given that you aren't planning on going back after maternity leave I'd be really tempted to let them fight it for you!
@Avocuddles gall stones definitely aren't fun, they run in my family and I'm pretty sure I've got them to look forward too in the next ten years if family history is anything to go by. Finger crossed they are pregnancy related and calm down once bub is here, they can't be making things fun for you.
@futuredreams I'd definitely have a look at the info for a gentle C-section and have a good long chat with your midwife and consultant about it. You can definitely have the lights dimmed at your head, request delayed chord clamping (I don't think the previa would impact that because it's down to placenta location, but I could be wrong. You can also definitely have skin to skin. I've added a screenshot of the sample birth plan for PCB that talks about c section to give you some ideas!
To the ladies discussing monitors, I've read reviews that the owlet has a tendency to alarm when there isn't an issue, which I think would just freak me out more. My cousin used the angel care "mat" thing and seemed to like it for their son who's now 2.5. I've decided against anything like that, because I feel like it would fuel my anxiety rather than help it, I'd constantly be looking for figures/listening put for alarms...I'm going to be constantly checking the baby anyway, so I feel like it will be less stressful (for me personally) to just go and check...if I ever let them leave my side 😂.
I'm definitely starting to feel heavy and about ready for this goblin to make an appearance, have woken up to contractions a few times in the last few days, but only have one or two and then they go off, so not sure if I'm having a bit of prodromal labour. Haven't told DH, as he's in Liverpool this week for work and is totally freaked out about getting home in time if I start while he isn't here. For that reason I'm reconsidering having a sweep on Wednesday, as he'll be home then until Sunday morning. I think I'm going to ask if we can do a gentle exam and then if things look favourable do the sweep 🤷♀️ I'm also trying to walk and use my birth ball as much as possible, but at the same time trying not to set things off when dh is on the other side of the country 🙈😂 having him work away is not ideal at all!
I hope everyone is doing well and can enjoy these few days of nice weather before things get properly autumnal
