Hi guys! Just found out were expecting. Very early but have no one else I can compare symptoms or questions with. Also thought it would be nice to follow pregnancies together. Expected due date should be the middle of March!

@Sussexbysea I have done something useful, but I'm watching Knocked Up at the moment and nibbling food.

helia · 20/07/2020 12:29

I agree re: no need for partners to attend midwife appointments. They are pretty boring and the later ones mostly involve the midwife checking there are no nasties in your urine and measuring how fat you've gotten! I hope DH will be able to attend my scans but other than that there's nothing I'm worried about him missing out on.

helia · 20/07/2020 12:31

Also re: DTD - I don't think there's any reason to stop although I've read about something called super foetation which has freaked me out! One baby is fine for me, thanks.

After last weeks wobble I have just spoken to a midwife at the hospital and she said 9/10 the loss of symptoms are perfectly normal (as long as it’s not accompanied by painful cramps and bleeding). My cramps have been mild and infrequent, I haven’t had blood either so I’m hoping that I fall into the ‘normal’ stats. She also asked if I wanted to be referred to the EPU, I said yes which she was happy to do.

I’m 6+1 today and think a tiny bit of nausea has kicked in and I’m I feeling a bit icky so I’m taking it as a positive!

Welcome and congratulations to the new joiners x

bibs124 · 20/07/2020 13:11

@jemimafuddleduck @holly6097 thank you both for your replies! Think you only hear the horror stories about people having awful symptoms so I’m surprised to not be having anything major lol!

Sandra1212 · 20/07/2020 13:26

Hi all! Wow, it's a busy thread! Happy to join in! Got my bfp and am about 5w no, due 25th of March. No major symptoms yet apart from some mild cramping. How's everyone feeling? Has anyone got any appointments booked or scans? I know it's still early, but I am just wondering what my next step should be! I seem to have a short memory of how it all happened last time (when I had my son 2 years ago) hehe. Am I supposed to contact my gp first or shall I ring midwives and book an appointment with them?

lookingatthings · 20/07/2020 13:42

@Bl0ndi3 yay for resusable nappies! I've used them since birth with DS, so technically I have everything I need for new baby, but it's so hard not to get carried away,: newborn nappy covers are so cute!

Clara9 · 20/07/2020 13:50

Can I ask for your opinions? Have had some cramping for about three days. Isn’t very painful, more like a niggling or grumble. It isn’t constant and bothers me for just long enough to worry me before going away again! I’ve got a copy of ‘what to expect when you’re expecting’ and it says that it’s normal, but now how long it should last for. Have any of you guys had similar?

helia · 20/07/2020 13:55

@lookingatthings How old is your DS? I made a half hearted attempt at reusable nappies with DS#1 (mostly Tots Bots and Close Pop-Ins but a few Bambino Mios too) but would like to really go for it this time. I used Cheeky Wipes pretty much exclusively and they were great, particularly for the early days. Much better than water and cotton wool!

I'm also pretty set for baby things but I do need a new cot and mattress (although I'm in no rush to buy one as DS never slept in one - I am thinking of co-sleeping once the Snuzpod is outgrown although perhaps I'll have a unicorn baby this time who likes to sleep independently). I'm also going to buy a new pram. I've got one now with a bassinet for when the baby needs to lie flat and it's fine for most of my needs but I want an Out n About pram too for countryside walks. Blush I've also got a stroller to chuck in the car as well but it'll be nice for the new baby to have some of its own things and I'll be breastfeeding so not spending money on formula or bottles and all of that stuff.

ValidUser · 20/07/2020 13:56

A cautious introduction after IVF. I'm 30 and I'm in Ireland. We had two blastocysts transferred on day 5, 9 days ago. 4 weeks today. EDD is 29/3/21.

I'm a doctor, but don't work in a field where I'll encounter much Covid. This is good, as after 3 chemicals, with antiphospholipid syndrome and raised IgM I'm on prednisolone (as well as the standard anticoagulant and antiplatet).

Little bit of spotting on Saturday, but that stopped and tests are still getting darker. My clinic does a 6 week scan, so I'll know more then.

Sandra1212 · 20/07/2020 14:13

@Clara9 I think I had a similar kind of cramping once at night too a couple of days ago. Felt really concerned about it. Not sure what to advise really as i am no doctor...Hopefully it's just muscles stretching and the baby growing! How are you feeling otherwise?

Clara9 · 20/07/2020 14:26

Generally fine. Smells are really strong and I feel a bit queasy in the morning. The book says it’s the uterus expanding and I found this. I’m 4+4 so sounds about right 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bl0ndi3 · 20/07/2020 14:33

@Clara9 hey lovely!

I get the odd cramp here and there too, not so much the last day or 2 and I'm around 4-5 weeks pregnant at the moment.

It's not causing me any worry at the moment I think I'd only be concerned if there was any bleeding.

Try to relax 🙃 anything that's going to happen is mostly out of your control so as long as you are keeping yourself happy and healthy you're doing everything you can x

Bl0ndi3 · 20/07/2020 14:36

@lookingatthings okay talk to me more about reusable nappies because I'm 100% committed to being as eco friendly as possible the thought of thousands of dirty nappies in landfill for the next century or two hurts my heart!

Cheeky wipes are 100% on my list but nappies - there are so many types!

Looking at bambino mio at the moment but how many do you need, are they really "messy" to clean up etc x

Sussexbysea · 20/07/2020 14:39

@Clara9 if it’s a period like pain and comes and goes and there’s no bleeding, I believe it’s all ok x

helia · 20/07/2020 14:53

@Bl0ndi3 You need to look on The Nappy Lady and Babi Pur. Both are online retailers with excellent Facebook groups. Worth a look at both.

helia · 20/07/2020 14:55

Also newborn poo is liquid and when they get older you can use disposable (biodegradable) liners if you like or - a surprisingly popular option - a poo knife to flick solids into the toilet. I know this sounds grim and disgusting, and it is really, but it's far less grim and disgusting when it's your child. Weird but true.

bibs124 · 20/07/2020 15:15

Is anyone else only fancying the blandest food? All I fancy is like Pom bears, mini cheddars, toast etc.. Hmm don't think this diet will give me the nutrients I need to grow a human lol

Bl0ndi3 · 20/07/2020 15:23

@helia that's amazing, thank you! Feeding my research obsession 😂🥰

Hah, yes to Pombears! I'm also eating a lot of rice cakes and bagels. Not exactly helping with the constipation and bloated feeling, ugh. I ordered some ginger root for nausea, we'll see if it helps at all.
Bl0ndi3 · 20/07/2020 15:25

@bibs124 hahahahaha that made me laugh no perhaps not but don't worry! I don't think the baby gets anything from you until the placenta is formed so you enjoy your pombears 😂 are you taking any vitamins? X

I'm okay so far I had a few waves of nausea but just managing to eat whatever I normally would: soup for lunch today and snacked on monster munch haha curry for tea tonight! Make the most of it whilst I can eh haha

Marchbaby21 · 20/07/2020 15:42

Hi guys 👋🏽 I’ve been reading this chat for such a long time but I haven’t got anyone to talk symptoms too at all😂 this is baby number 1 and I’m only 20!! I’m super excited though.. I’ve had quite a few symptoms though, constipation:( but also morning sickness and my boobs are SO painful. How is everyone else?

Marchbaby21 · 20/07/2020 15:43

I don’t actually have an appetite at all, been forcing myself to eat everyday!

bibs124 · 20/07/2020 15:43

@PeggySue83 no defo not helping the constipation can't think of anything worse than fruit and vegetables right now!

@Bl0ndi3 oh yeah that's true! I better fill up on the Pom bears now.. I'm taking iron and vitamin D at the moment. I would take a multi vitamin but I have an underactive thyroid so some vitamins mess it up! Waiting to speak to endo at the hospital to see what they advised re supplements.. are you taking a multivitamin?
